Gura Explains How She Learned How To Voice Her Opinions

  • Just a note: some people are taking this out of context and using it to say she is in conflict with Hololive or in some sort of controversy. This isn't the case. Cover seems to be a fair and honest company and I have a lot of trust that they will and always have acted in the best interests of the talents. I know there are some of you who dislike Cover for some reason, but if you want to complain about them, please take it somewhere else.
It's nice to hear that she is taking more control over decisions, Gura has a good sense of her audience and I'm sure Cover appreciates her knowledge and experience.

I think this is more on Gura being able to put her foot down and express herself and having the power to do so as Hololive's biggest content creator. It seems they're much more stricter on the Japanese side, something Coco expressed as a big problem with working with Cover, to the point any suggestion she had would be immediately shot down.

    • @Kaimine08

Considering they got rid of one of their highest SC/sub girls in the JP side, I'd say they are kinda dumb. The biggest difference between Gura and Rushia though is that EN is a fairly small group meaning they have a lot more dedicated fans that may have no interest in their other branches. Their personalities are also incredibly different so its easier to attract specific audiences. Get rid of someone in EN and its quite likely they'll lose a lot of people which is also a lot of revenue. Get rid of Rushia and...well...there's 25+ other vtubers in hololive on the JP side and most likely...that person watches other channels. They're kinda stuck.
That being stated, Gura certainly had issues in the beginning and she had to learn to stop making a huge deal over them. Gura is more lax now and I feel like she's a lot more in control of how she wants to do things without fears things will go wrong. That's certainly contributed to her ongoing popularity.

I mean the UMISEA is a project from hololive not Gura's. Gura is talking about her own thing like reflect, song covers and outfits on how she is trying to voice out what she truly wants. An example of this is her Atlantean outfit, Gura's cat outfit was left to her artist because at that time Gura is in her "yes" era but in her next outfit she actually sent a whole pdf of references so that her artist can understand what she wants to be in her outfit.

  • @SpexSpexington
    @SpexSpexington 2 роки тому +7

    Let me just say this:
For the most part, Gura's statement applies to every job situation. If you have the experience, and you're the one interacting with the customer or whatever, then YOU know what consequences or results may occur under certain situations, and/or how to gain the best results. Management may tell you to do something in particular, and maybe in a specific way, but if you feel it should be done differently in order to prevent a potential issue, or to bring in better results, then you should definitely speak up. Don't ARGUE... but VOICE AN OPINION. Some members of management are total dictators, and will just shoot you down immediately... but a good manager will listen, consider, re-evaluate, and may change their mind, if needed/possible.
A lot of managers will gain serious respect for you if you do this and prove positive results. On the other hand, if you do this all the time with negative results, then you become that person who just always talks back. So, you have to be careful.

While Gawr Gura was initially created as a character, she's absolutely made it her own in the last year and a half. When you put that much of yourself into something, of course you want to have a say in how you're presented by corporate. I'm still just someone on the outside looking in, but it makes more sense to me to have a voice.

Someone who just follows along what the top says really have no place at the top. I argue with my managers, even CEOs A LOT, within reasonable levels of course.

It'd honestly be nothing short of screwed up if all their talents would amount to were dancing monkeys who dance only in a way that managers tell them to and no room for their own personality was left in there. That would be the surest way of making the talent miserable and lose the joy from doing it.
I'm glad Gura has started to "put her foot down" and do her thing more. It really does show, when comparing to the very early Gura we got. It's also very evident that it IS very much a possibility to keep doing YOUR thing in Hololive, so we shouldn't mistake Cover for some un-compromising evil overlord idol company - just look at all the stuff Ame does :)
But I'm sure a passive talent will get managed all the way, if they don't chip in, so it's good to dare and speak up, as it brings results!

The talent are Content Creators working FOR a company. Not puppets just there to be told what to do BY a company. It's a partnership. Hololive would be nothing without it's artists and content creators. Any entertainment company worth it's salt would realize you have to work WITH your talent or you risk running them off. And make no mistake, THIS job can be done without Hololive (or any company). While it's definitely more difficult without the financial backing of a larger management company, it CAN be done. These creators CAN make it without the aid of the Management companies. But the Management companies CANNOT exist without the talent.

translation from theories and educated guesses and based on their own comments for years:
friction in the company with the talent
EN doesnt play games when it comes to being submissive
like holo likes (cuz they are jp) and is making problems for some of them
like kiara, prolly calli, now gura maybe, rushia said she was getting burnt out from streaming
wich is prolly required like twitch, a set amount of hours a month, and is prolly way more than twitch
which if you ever streamed yourself, is A LOT already, and that just talking a bit and gaming, imagine what these girls do
way more stress, coco prolly had some issues too like she commented, freedom, creatively and to collab with others, or play any games they want (she´s so happy and relaxed now in comparison, which shows they aint doing well being inside the company, mentally ofc, not numbers wise)
i´ve been saying it all this time, this aint gonna end well if they are not given time to relax (breaks) and chill on the strictness that is pointless
also the whole "you must sing and dance and act and this and that" thing, just let them be, let them experiment, let them relax and we all win, an idol company (most of them are black companies, said kiara) has no place in 2022, especially with overseas talents.
i expect quite a few members leaving soon, especially the top ones (cuz they are big enough to still be well off on a new channel, as rushia proved with going 0 to 500k in a few days, coco too but she had an active one already)

Its worth mentioning that management is willing to work with its talent in most creative/entertainment industries if you communicate with them. If you find yourself in an industry that doesn't allow or even punishes creative freedom... run... get out... that company does not have your best interests at heart. Your input matters. Especially if YOU are the one in front of the camera.

not sure if I share the same perspective as her management, but I think it shows good initiative on Gura's side to share her side of how she wants to work on and such. She doesn't need to be micromanaged, and know what she wants to do to improve her channel. I'd hope her manager foster that mindset, while keeping her from "burning out".

Given how much time Gura and her colleagues spend streaming and how closely they are in contact with the paying customers, it would be foolish for Hololive to ignore input from the talent.
