    thanks James. That Bachmann On30 stuff appeals to me to build a Christmas train someday. They are neat little trains. Thanks for showing this to us.

    Narrow gauge is one scale that makes me consider switching from n scale. Great review as always James.

    I feel like this would make a cute saddle tank loco.

    I have a Bachmann spectrum steam locomotive too. It's a modernized 4-4-0 that worked on the Seaboard Airline Railroad. It's number is 106. It can pull up to 8 cars. Passenger and freight cars.

    As for the Climax I mentioned there are only 5 that remain in operation. 2 in Australia but only 1 operates at the Puffing Billy Railway in Belgrave Australia. There's another 2 in New Zealand but under static display. Again there's the White Mountain Central Railroad at Clarks Trading Post in New Hampshire. One at the Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass West Virginia undergoing restoration. Then there's Durbin Rocket of the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad in Durbin West Virginia.

      They have a 3 truck Climax at Elbe that was operating just two years ago.

    There are only 8 Heisler's in Operation today. The White Mountain Central Railroad in New Hampshire, the Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton CA. The Stumper Valley Railroad in Becker County Oregon. The Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth GA. There's one in Willits CA. The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad. A 3 truck Heisler on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad in Elbe Washington. And finally the Cass Scenic Railroad in Cass West Virginia. Many other surviving Heisler's are mostly seen on static display.

    Why does this video skip the most important aspect… The actual installation of the sound decoder?!

    By the way Bachmann Spectrum made a Climax in On30 scale too.

    James, Q... What have you done with all the On30 engines/sets you have tested? Since you basically don't model it, or your an Ho guy.. Have you sold it?.. Just wondering if you had any to sell? From a fellow disabled USAF vet...

    Hello I would like to ask what are the dimensions of the tender on the locomotive please? I want to order the tender as a part but the dimensions are not listed on Bachmann's part discription.

    Great video!
    I have a question, I’m thinking about going to on-30. With that said I know you have to use O scale structures etc. with this scale, but when it comes to bridges which scale do you use HO or O? Thanks and go Colts!

    • @fredtedstedman
      @fredtedstedman 4 роки тому

      Keep it "O-scale " about 1:48 , it is confusing , it is pretending that your Ho track is narrow gauge , but loco and everythig else is 1:48 ! I use Flieschmann "Magic Train" which does the same thing .

    If your DCC Bachman On30 model did not come with a speaker with it, the how much will the speaker cost? And on top of that, does the decoder come with the speaker, or are they separate?

    Some say, if you reply early enough, James will respond.... also wonder why On30 locos are always so expensive compared to HO

      hey James, quick question. I just picked up a BLI Big Boy, came in the mail and the shipping box was terribly damaged. But the loco box was fine except for a small crease on the side. Tested the loco out, everything works fine. Except one thing, the rear light seems to have a bad electrical connection. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. I dont think this is a problem from the shipping but more likely a manufacturing defect. It doesnt bother me too much. But is it something I should be worried about?
      All of the DCC functions, cv's, smoke, and programming work fine.

    • @jlwii2000
      @jlwii2000  7 років тому +1

      if the manufacturer box is damaged i would return it and get a replacement. The light thing I would replace too just to be safe.

      jlwii2000 thanks. i contacted model train stuff and they have a replacement on the way as we speak. Im praying the postal service is kinder to it this time. Going to use UPS or Fedex from now on.

    Damn...one day I'll be first and fulfill all my dreams. Lol. Nice video and engine btw. Bachmann does a fine job, although blackstone happens to do it better...they should for a couple more hundred bucks tho.

    Is on30 just HO narrow gauge? Or is it something else?

  • @robertcampbell5685

    What is on30 ? Is it the same as HO ?

    • @kevinstevens437

      Robert Campbell on30 is o scale narrow gauge. Rail width just happens to be close to ho.

    • @fuzzcopter467
      @fuzzcopter467 6 років тому

      Torri TraylorHiryu all trains can go fast, that’s not the point of the test, the point is how slow can you go.

    • @lescobrandon3047
      @lescobrandon3047 5 років тому +1

      Mine can go probably about 600 mph in quarter inch scale. I have no idea why anyone would do that because the real loco would never go that fast. And we are trying to show how the real ones run slowly. If you want speed, get some Lionel stuff.
