What I may like is that with the throttle in idle, one at this stage can add the tension and now with a little more resistance than normal twist the throttle to your desired speed and it is set. Other-words one does not have to turn the dial at 70 mph to set it up in my example? I assume what I wrote is correct?
While some say your hand was in the way.. I actually was looking for that explanation in the end. I've watched 9 videos now (most watched ones) and none of them explained/showed how this worked. So thank you for actually showing that. Really appreciate it!
Throttle locks are a half measure. A gas peddle lock for a car would be declared illegal the instant it was manufactured yet here we are, putting a mechanical throttle lock (stabalizer) onto motorcycles. There is no argument that they do not do what they claim, it's the claim that is flawed. No matter how you twist it, a throttle lock or stabalizer is adding friction to the throttle and what is the last thing you ought to do? Add friction to the throttle. There are very good cruise control accessories that plug into the ECU/ABS and traction control systems of modern bikes. Of course not every bike can use one of them but for the Africa Twin there is the excellent MC Cruise among others that are practically plug and play and work with the ABS and Traction control systems. They've proven to be very reliable and safe to use. Seriously take a look at hosw the item shown in the video works and just watch as the throttle hand needs to shift position and move to adjust and activate it. Does that seem smart to you? While these things can work and for many they do just from the way they work you should know that it's something thats a solution to a problem for which far better solutions are available.
would be better if you demonstrate it without your hand blocking how the mechanism works. its a bit hard to visualize without actually seeing it. anyway thanks for the video.
Best explanation of how to install Kaoko stabilisers that I've found. Others are so light on explanation and detail they just don't make sense. Thanks for the effort.
@@WOODZMAN Got it on today. It does the job for what it is intended for. It was a simple install, your vid was informative and helped; thanks. Fit with the Barkbusters with no problem. The only potential issue I see is that there is a slight gap from the o ring to the friction nut. I am pretty sure it will be a Non issue though. A little pricey, but leaving for the Dempster and Alaska on July 14th, from Cincinnati, I know my wrist will appreciate having it installed. Thanks again
Just installed mine on the Africa Twin and I think it is incredible. I have carpool tunnel on my right wrist and with this installed it allows me to rest my hand and keep it from getting numb. Definitely worth the money and allows me to ride all day with minimal to no pain.
Thing is, in an emergency you just grab the brakes while the throttle is still wide open, normal throttles snap back naturally, might not have time to think when stuff happens.
Hello sir In 2:30 truss washer , where I can find it as separate part , because the gas hand grip is , a little bit loss , I think all africa twin comes like that . So I f I install only truss washer , I think it will become more stable .
I just installed one today and watched your video as I did it. Thanks again for your great videos. I had a Throttlemeister on a few motorcycles in the past but this one seems to suit the AT.
The back rest is Corbin, it came with the Corbin seat. The tail bag is Nelson Rigg . Go to www.nelsonrigg.com use code woodzman20 for free shipping and 20% discount
Excellent install, Woodzman! That seems safer than a throttle lock. Didn't you recently install a throttle lock recently? I thought I saw a video on that. Anyway's much better product, thanks for sharing, adventure rider.
Hi and thanks for reposting this. I installed my Saturday before your latest video. Of the 2 thrust washers that came with the Kaoko I used the shallow one. You used the deep one I believe. Mine seems to work OK but just to verify I should have used the deeper one with the stock Honda grips (not heated)? Also, My spring clip stayed in the handlebar but was easily pulled out with a needle nose pliers.
+Randi Ruge Yes I used the deeper one, its for the stock Honda grips, the other one is for the OEM heated grips. Yea the clip isn't to hard to pull out. I did the same thing once
I bought a used 2017 AT last year and it has this exact Kaoko throttle lock on it. I want to install Honda heated grips that I bought but I don’t have the other insert as you showed as the original owner didn’t give it to me. Can I modify the one for the stock grips to work with the Honda heated grips? Thanks for sharing, love your videos!
I purchased one of these for 2019 AT Adventure Sport it has heated grips.. I followed instructions( using the correct washer for heated grips) and it just locked up my throtttle🤔 couldn’t even turn the throttle .. so removed it? Seems very odd the heated grip washer doesn’t slide over easy either?? Any ideas
With gloves it is a little bit difficult to handle the wheel lock. I have this one on my Super Tenere 1200. When it is lock, it works great, very easy to dosing the throttle.
Hello my friend!, wich year is your AT? Mine is a 2018 Dct, i am trying to install the Kaoko but it dind work... Could you give me a hand please? Thank you very much! Federico from Argentina
WOODZMAN ADVENTURES you know, reading the comments, I do realise, I've been pretty ignorant, to people with physical limitations. I didn't take that to account.
@@hedley326 That's the main reason I want to get one. Broke my wrist last year and now I get sore when I ride longer than an hour or so. I think the Kaoko will help ease my pain...literally!

Nice product, but the price is insane....really $200 for some plastic and metal? Come on Kaoko the profit margin on this has to be insane.

How about with Bark Busters? I went out and looked at mine and is just doesnt look like there is enough room for it.
Yea I’m not sure about it with Bark Busters
@WOODZMAN I ordered it yesterday they make a special one for the barkbusters
Ah that’s good to hear

Awesome ! Your are welcome !
Just fitted this with heated grips
The cylinder inside just wouldn’t come out
Fucking pig I got it out in the end
Not always that straightforward 😣
I notice that the stabilizer you have is cracked at the set screw. Is this a defect? you can see it clearly at 4:09.
Yea it’s called don’t tighten the screw to much, ooops. It still works fine
thank you for the video installation and the guide demo.

Can this be installed with Bark Busters ?
I would think so but I am not sure
Wondering the same thing
@@hoffman771 Yes, but you have to order the one specific for use with bark busters.
Great instructions

Will the kaoko work with aftermarket heated grips & handguards? (Oxford grips & barkbuster handguards) ??????
TIA.....

Would this work on my X ADV 750 with Factory Heated Grips ?!?!
I have no idea about that one

Yea I’m not sure, but a few people have said the same thing
In case anyone comes across this, you have to place the two silver washers in between the plastic piece that touches the grip, and the kaoko device.
Totally answered my question about safety!
Which washer do you use for stock grips the thick or thin
I believe it was the thin but it’s been a while
does not work with the factory heated grips
Good to know
I have hepco & Becker and it didn't work
I put hepco & becker on mine and it worked fine

Yea that is true. Same on the AT
@@WOODZMAN... Thanks for the video and response 👍
Nice review. Thanks.
Thanks for watching
This thing doesn't fit if you have any kind of crash protection
I put on Hepco and Becker Hand Guard protectors and it worked fine
Do you mean crash protection for hand guard or for engine guard ?
I have this throttle control on my A.T. It is an awesome product!
+D May I looked at several before I decided on the KAOKO. It's by far the best
Does it also recommend to Africa twin dct? ?
They sure do !
Thanks just got it today 😊😊

Its a 2016, I’m not sure if a 2018 is the same
WOODZMAN ADVENTURES , it looks similar but when i install and press eith the ratchet the throtell gets stacked
It looks like i need another washer separator
Sounds like you have it adjusted to tight
WOODZMAN ADVENTURES not to tight, at the adjustment point that works its all unadjusted
I cannot get it to work. Everytime I tighten the end bold my throttle binds
You have something wrong, I’m not sure what
Yea I cannot figure it out.
You watch my video and did it exactly like it ?
Yep
Strange, you will just have to look it over and figure out why it’s doing that, I’m not sure
Great product. A proven design.
+richmoto1 I'm pretty impressed with it !
Can the speed/throttle be adjusted while it stays locked?
Yes it can
I've done 500 mile journeys. 9 hour days, on 3 different bikes. I've never thought about needing this.....I dont get it.
It’s not a must have but it is just handy at times.
