I had a nest of wrens right next to my conservatory and I could see right inside their nest from the inside of the conservatory. We could see the eggs hatching and watched when the little ones flew the nest one by one. Like you we were careful not to scare them and were respectful to keep our distance, it was such a privilege to watch💕

I have made 3-4 Ashton Tops and it is a summer favorite for me for sure! I did lengthen my pattern pieces because I prefer it a bit longer. It's a great pattern. And I stumbled over which way to roll the "burrito" too!
It’s great isn’t it! The burrito was funny on this one, like my brain just couldn’t cope with doing it that way around 😂

Oh yay, I'm so pleased you like the Ashton! I haven't sewn one up yet but I thought it looked just what you were after 😊 It looks amazingly chic with your Safiya trousers. I haven't made a flat fronted pair of trousers before either, they do look more elevated than fully elasticated so will have to try those too. I've paused sewing to get some gardening done before the ground gets too hard in summer but have taken my second sock knitting away for our half term break... so many hobbies to squeeze in 😅

@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress . Help! I had a go at the Ashton. Firstly slightly too big I can fix that but armscye is far too low. About 2 inches too low. Did you find this?

I've been looking for something to sew with my 2.5m of one of my #sewhaylyjane fabrics in a fabulous jungle print. You've inspired me with your beautiful linen set. I've got my pieces cut out. I couldn't find the pocket pattern, so I downloaded one. I've just looked again (properly🫣) and found it!!😂 I'm so excited to see how it turns out. If it's a success, I might buy some linen and make another. I've cut out the longer top, as I had enough fabric, after you saying it is quite cropped.

Nice set! I've made the Ashton top several times and it hasn't let me down. It also has a sleeve expansion pack if you ever want to add sleeves.

Love the outfit Sally, I have the Ashton top pattern and I’d completely forgotten all about it so thank you for reminding me, I think I have the sleeve expanypack too! I’m really bad at checking my patterns and often get tempted into new ones! I’ve just made the Stylearc Smith jacket after your recommendation and it’s fabulous, I made it in a denim I had in my stash and I like it so much I’m now going to do a dark green linen version , so big thanks all round to you! ❤

Great looking summer set. I want to make a similar set for myself but with short sleeves. I want to use an emerald green double gauze I have for this. Working on my third Heather blazer at the moment. Thanks for the video.

Please encourage sewers to make a muslin for every new pattern before cutting into your fashion fabric. It saves a lot of frustration in the end
I still have a hard time understanding how to make a muslin. I don’t know why. I have a hard time understanding how to transfer markings from the muslin to the fabric. I’ve watched videos, I have books, etc, but still can’t get it. Do you by chance know of a good you tube channel that will take me step by step on making a muslin.😊

I'm considering started to sew something easy. Many many years ago as a teenage I worked at overlooking in an underwear factory. But I haven't sewed anything since. Love watching your channel. Just wondering is your machine a dual kinda thing that does flat stitching and overlooking. Anyway I'm going to try a really simple dress. Your work is first class and inspiring. Many thanks.

Yes I actually really like it it’s got a lovely boxy shape which is different to other shift tops I have x

I have a little bit hard to see it.

It’s from Self Made but quite old now. Its a linen viscose blend x
The set looks beautiful. Did the front waistband have interfacing to the front?If so what interfacing did you use and if not did you find the waistband folded when sitting. You could phone or check online with the bird society for advice on keeping your family of birds and eggs safe.
No the pattern doesn’t call for interfacing and I’ve never had a problem. The birds have left the nest now I hope they will be safe 🥰
Do you interface the flat front band of the Safiya pants?
I never have but I guess you could if you felt the fabric needed it xx
