- I choked a bit at the end but I'm done with non TA. I never wallbanged anyway and mantles don't do THAT much for CB, outside of being able to facetank a bit. Next Alatreon run is going to be TA. Also, my cat was useless.

I was completely done in 4 minutes 8 seconds. I did it solo, like this guy... oh wait. He won the fight? Nevermind.

The two best things in this hunt:
1. He never used wallbang. Every other fight I've seen starts with one, this guy just opts to slide down Alatreon's face and keep going.
2. Everyone else runs away and preps their jerky or max potions for the EJ, Aki just had faith that he'd weakened it enough and kept on swinging. Madman.
Wall bang is useless in solo since it's better to make him enrage at the start of the fight since he takes 1.2x more damage for 90 seconds are better than wasting almost and entire minute to wall bang and then tenderizing and stuff

I'm not a speedrunner but I eventually got him in 24 mins, eventually shortening it to 15
Shepard isn't a competitive monster speedrunner and he got it
Stop underestimating yourselves and use the time to learn the matchup. Its not even that difficult once you learn it

Damn you're a monster. You motivated me to get my HR Nergi times down to 2:20 (CB) back in the day and now I guess I'm gonna see if I can manage this one too (my current time is like 15 min lol with dragon dual blades). Not a speed runner but its fun to git gud

Nice run, when first comments came out saying only DBs were managing to meet ele dps check I was worried CB and GS might not be viable solo but seems like every weapon can somewhat do it

Probably nothing for this fight. I've i-framed his nova without any Evade Windows, which is what you probably meant. Extender just makes you roll farther.

Yeah if you get a triple element break, the nova only deals ~170 damage which is less than the 200 hp you have with a meal and hb3
I really like this fight and think it’s a huge improvement over the old one. The difficulty seems really overblown-what do you think of all the outrage, and what do you think of it compared to old Alatreon?

After around like 40 tries including last nights I beat him 2 times in a row luckily I found a good team that worked together well with me and now I'll probably never beat him again.

Quick question, do you think is feasible to kill him this quickly without the cat, cause every time I try to do it, since he's focused on me, he disrupts my setups for the charge blade.
aki whats your opinion on the mmo-like dps check and oneshot nuke based power creep-y nature that mh is headed?
I don't like it. It's as if they can't show off a monsters power anymore without having them explode in your face.
@@AkantoreX yea i feel you, i still think that base mhw mechanics are the best if only because it fixed so much of the jank of the older games, but if capcom intends to counter player power by some of the laziest, dumbest shit mmo mechanics of all time i rly fear for mainline mh's future on nonhandheld games like this

The speed of those elemental checks feels so off that I don't believe it. I'll try it myself
elemental crit CB has such an overwhelming portion of its damage as elemental it doesn't surprise me at all.

So you can use the same CB the entire quest? I was under the impression you have to switch based on the phases of the fight
If you break his horn while he is in Dragon state then he wont switch to the next element
i learned so much shit about advanced cb play from simply watching ur vids lol, i rarely saed anymore aed snipes + savage for days
Is it a "dps check" in the sense you have to be aggressive or is it a simple damage threshold you can beat in your own time?
you have to be really aggressive, but if you get the elemental stagger on him once before escaton you should be okay
it is a massive dps check. if you fail it you definitely die.
The DPS check is purely elemental. Even if you use raw heavy weapons, you can spam some of your faster moves, that have decent Elemental motion values and you are good to go. For Hammer it's the spin move for example. If you try hard enough, every weapon can break through the DPS check easily.

@@AkantoreX So does it work like a stagger limit/part break, or does alatreon have a "cooldown"? The way you describe it makes it sound like you just have to do a ton of damage in a short time frame, but if you did the same damage over the course of minutes, it would not cause the topple.
Because obviously that's lower DPS in the true sense of DPS.

The first one was a guard point off of his roundhouse slash, the second was an R2+🔺️ guard point
He hit this thing like 3 times and got the element topple. What!?

He elemental dmg checked twice before Alatreon did the attack so it was greatly weakened. You see you hit the dmg check when he falls down and you get a message from the handler

@Space Kid Entertainment thats a complete lie. First knockdown does somewhere around 250-300 damage. Third knockdown nova does 150.

What's the difference between the 2 event quests?
1. He starts with Fire Element
2. He starts with Ice Element

Awesome run but as expected no melee weapon comes close to the mighty Sword and Shield
This is a day 1 run, when people still had no real idea how to fight him.
CB Freestyle and SnS Freestyle are pretty close (around 5 minutes flat), while HBG has almost 3 minute solo atm.
@@AkantoreX I agree it was just a little Joke but I'd still love to see more players showing the SnS more respect or more like witnessing the potential.
I believe the Frostcraft SnS build has the highest dmg potential out of all the melee weapons but right now there are only a few japanese runners picking this weapon.
Anywas still an awesome run compared to my struggle day one solo its almost legendary doing this.

Lot of players recommend solo him because his HP and elemental treshold scales up with more hunters in the quest.

First question, not really sure about that
Second, savage axe dealt consistent damage with elemental attack in this kind of monster. Sure SAED dealt more mathematically, but only if you can land all of em, where against alatreon, you almost get no opening / chance for that
I'm a terrible freestyle player. If I had wallbang, used my options to the utmost limit and had a useful Cat, this time would've been 1 minute faster.
Reason I never use SAEDs is because openings are too short, raw and elemental damage is not big enough to warrant spamming it on Alatreon and Savage Axe is straight up better in this match up, due to the openings we get.

Can someone tell me how the hell he's healing? as far as i know, theres no life steal in this game, unless this is some sort of souped up version of val hazak passive which i dont think this is.
You can augment your weapon to have health regen on hit
Adding to the above comment, the Safi armor drains your HP with each attack but after a certain number of successive hits it regents more than it takes. Elemental CB builds use both the health augment and Safi regent in concert to keep topped off.

Is guard 5 actually that useful ? Could'nt you just roll through everything instead ?
If you have Guard 5 you can block and then follow up with a counter.
