What was the cost?
@billyflanagan9657 It was bought from Machine Mart so prices will be on their website. I can't remember what I paid as it was 3 years ago.
You have a workshop with electric so whats the point
Thanks, great explanation. They're back in Aldi this week, will give it a go even with the issues.
great garage but if i got one i would have got some greenhouse hot spot tape and covered the bars where the cover comes in contact with the frame it saves rubbing, hope you don't mind me saying.
Hi David” Not for the faint hearted, rebuilding that engine . 😂 Enjoyed watching this”. Going to be good ‘watching the strip down and the rebuild.👌
@glynwilliams1225 Thanks Glyn 👍
This is exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you for the step-by-step!!
Be careful, David, with your bad back and all, at least you're making some progress with it. I look forward to part 3 to see how far you are coming along when you get the parts in until then take care...
@LeonardLee8979 Thanks Leonard 👍
Hey David, it's been a while since I left a comment on one of your videos. About the bike, some people aren't going to be completely honest about stuff when they are trying to make a quick buck, but then you said that the lady was old and it was her husband bike probably doesn't know to much about motorcycle and really thought it was an oil leak because of what she saw that's why she sold it cheap 800.00 really wasn't a bad price for that, you're right you probably could have gotten one that works for more money but we know you can fix it 😊 so I like to see what you came up with in the next video till then take care....
How are you going to remember how it all goes back together after 😂. Good luck with the project.
Hi David, hope your well, that is a big lump, you got it on the workbench now time for stripping back, the gear box didn't look good all mashed up, hope you can fix it. Catch you soon mate, take care
@shaun30-3-mg9zs Thanks Shaun, take care 👍
Big job ahead David. I’ll be here to watch it all. Keep it up.
And that was i guess the easy part , i do not know how you ever are going to get is in that frame ( without hurting yourself ) all alone in that no space workshop , just be carefull man. 🙄🙄
Like it very much , the build and the finish…are the “ pocket joints “ at the top of the legs sufficient to prevent racking ? …
Great job …u crane operator u …..very entertaining indeed…good luck going forward
@peterpaliwoda1527 cheers Peter 👍
I have one for my VW Camper. I’ve had it for two years now and it is very good.
Your marine shop that sells patch repair for dinghies might help with possible holes.
Great idea.
I bought one and it started deteriating within months. The biggest pile of s*** I ever bought.
3 points of contact is key (to mitigate that ‘roll”)
I bought this unit at a garage sale recently with no instructions. Thankyou for taking the time to make this video. Very helpful, concise and to the point.
If I had a garage or workshop I’d think I would want it secure and locked but anyone with a knife would be in there and quietly
Before you go all out or abandoning the thing see can the crankcase be patched i think it may be possible if its not an alloy. That way its not a teardown. When you get the stator cover off you will see what happened.tho its damaged the main crankcase its not actually in the main compartment as in the main oil pressure sump. That is the flange of the crankcase damaged it still obvs vents oil into the stator cover but i say this as maybe it can be repaired. That engine with its 3to 4 cam chains and self adjusting valves is about a level 9 out of 10 dificulty i rekon plus if you do all the work i think the main bearing is a dry bearing set into the casing so while doing it i would replace both side crankcases. Order the 4 bushings and put locktite of the bolt its left hand thread the magnet bolt is right hand thread.
The vulcan is a complex engine man rebuilding that will be a bitch but the vids are good on here. Stick at it man. The vulcan nearly got between me and the missus its no honda but worth it in the end. The other drastic thing that can g wrong with these is the big end bearing. Im after being to hell and back with the bloody bike but its going now. Carbs are a bit moody but she roars again. Also dont assume top end tapping is the cam chain tensioners its the auto valve adjust tappets the chain is a scratchier sound well your a way off from top end stuff anyway
There are good rebuild vids on utube but you will need a lhs crankcase
Get the spare engine man the starter gear off the counterbalance has gone through the main crankcase
If you can get an engin cheap your still ok
The counterbalance bushings have broken down from synthethic oil and the bolt walked out. It happens with them you need to get an engine now
I recently got a vulcan project and after a few months i have it going good. If i can help
Instant...😂😂😂
Thank you David. This has now made my list for this year....
Hello again David. Happy New year to you. I have now had a chance to look through some of your videos. I can tell you now, you've already made my planned projects for this year so much easier starting with this Clarke structure. Thank you very much. I wish you excellent health and happiness and please, keep making your awesome videos.
I'm guessing that it survived that storm a couple of weeks back.
@@liverush24 yep getting through them at the moment 👍
Don't forget there's coolant in the heads that needs draining, drains just below the fins. Check out vn750 forum for more info👍🏻. Looking forward to the engine strip.
@tiff9137 Yep did that thanks, engine is apart as will be seen in the up coming video 👍

If you’re worried about high wind treat yourself to a couple of awning straps from a camping supplier
Great video with good tips from you, thank you. There is an industrial strength version of duct tape marketed by Gorilla. It is stronger and more adhesive than duct tape, but once stuck down it is very difficult to remove. I like your extra anchoring eye in the front of the tent, great idea - if it were mine I would paint it orange to try and avoid stubbed toes.
Just found your video. Thank you so very much. This is exactly what I need. I like your extra strengthening details and floor tarp.....I have subscribed to your channel and I will be buying one and or two. If there's a smaller version I will get one for my fire logs....,Thank you very much.
Looks like you have been sold pup. But keep us up to date with the rebuild, once you have finished it will be a great bike. Happy new year.
I am filming my progress 👍 Happy New Year to you too
Big job broke out there David, I would try to find a replacement engine myself but good luck with the rebuild.
@TheMrWoodsman Have been looking for a suitable engine but couldn't find one apart from abroad which was going to cost £950 just for the shipping cost. So rebuild it is 👍
Tidy job
Hope you are going to share the journey of the bike reto
Yes the filming is ongoing 👍
You “ chinned it “ well ….fair play
