What do you think of this automotive icon? Would you drive it down the highway?!
If yous get that back on the road there will be nothing else like it on the road can't wait to see the test drive
Very Interesting!! Yes I would Drive This. G
Hell yeah!! I am sure it is a handful on streets, but still a blast!🙂
I love it...the car shows what some passion and some "I can't...oh yeah well watch this" can do 😎 and you know what...I would 👏🏻😎
hellyea!!!!!!!!
Phipps getting emotional talking about his Dad was the best part of this episode! He is the comedy relief too, honestly. By the way, where is chase? Just noticed that after the last few episodes🤔
Phipps is an automotive icon for real - he makes the show better with his knowledge and how he got the goods on Richard
To Chase, wherever you are. We noticed your absence, buddy. Your work at GMG was appreciated. Keep safe.
"I can JB Weld" ... Phipps is awesome
Love that you are restoring a piece of history. What happened to Chase?
Long gone from GMG
@@davidsantos8206 What happened?
Who cares
Bet that Red bus caused him a mental breakdown
Great disassembly video. Good job showing all of the original work that was made in house.
I can't wait to hear this guy's story.
Love the faux blower carb housing.
I bet that was a lot of fun to drive and created a crowd at ever gas station stop.
Look it up online, there’s dozens of articles. Under the name digger.
It sure did! Crowds of cops too!
where is chase these days? Did you all finish the red bus? I may have missed something.
More builds Bro. can't wait to see this thing run. GYSOT
He’s gone.
I’ve never seen Richard get so involved in one of his builds. But it’s great content. 👍🏻🇬🇧
That's because he doesn't have a lead mechanic!
@@izzydizzy1115 exactly! They all look a bit lost now. They take the engine apart and then look like a dog that ripped up the sofa when the owners came home once Richard asked them what they were doing. Not good. 🤦♂️
@@izzydizzy1115 Jerry is tha bomb ffs way more experienced than chase, who was awesome btw not hating on him one bit richards a potcher like me not a lead mechanic. U wouldn’t think it lol but Phipps as forgotten more than rrr will ever know 👍 big up GMG keep it coming 🚀🚀🚀🔥🔥👍
What happened to Chase?
Those radiator hoses going to the back were for trailer with a water tank for highway cruising. Also, there was a "roadster top" in addition to the coupe top.
(I've known Minette for many years).
Richard the master of micro managing..would hate to work in that shop…
What happened to Chase he actually new what he was doing thought the guy from fired up garage replaced him but mia also?
Damn I love this car, glad to see it getting restored and upgraded on some things. Just curious though, wouldn't it be possible to make a new mold out of the old shell?
Was waiting for this... keep up the great work guys.. love sent from the UK 👌🏻
Everyone is asking about Chase and why Richard doesn't mention him. They probably have an NDA contract to protect themselves. I'm no lawyer but that's what I would've done
I certainly remember that Digger when it was yellow. I was a sophomore or junior in H.S.. And there was a Hotwheels replica car made of it too!
Awesome episode Richard and Team! So cool how he had that blower setup!!!
Richard better not let Phipps go anywhere 💯FACT better give that man whatever he needs
Big facts Phipps is a total asset and his knowledge is unmatched and hes a true hot rodder PHIPPSTARR is legit
Good guy taking orders from a child must have been hard.
Agree 100%
29:15 Phipps reply to learn to weld made me laugh ....
Sure seems like they don't really get along with each other love it
Reverse engineering something makes you really appreciate the intial engineering that went into the build...Awesome...
Finally I have been waiting to see this build since Shaun brought it back to the shop...
Phipps gives me anxiety when he talks.. lol.. spit it out already haha.. ahhhhh
He’s a stoner
I love watching on the internet never miss a show. you are such a favorite of mine, I'm 58 my girl is 40 and I love your style, I don't drink but I still have fun. I'm getting ready to order a couple of shirts . I'm planning on winning 1 of your give aways .wow the way you can go and go ,don't you ever get tired or run down. I love the digger , looks like it would be hard to drive on the freeway or making tight turns or seeing out the back. Can't wait to see you driving it. Godbless you and your crew
That is a pretty cool car, great to see something being done with it and bringing it back.
8:35 Hell yeah. Thats a family heirloom for sure.
I grew up just a few miles from yall off of Webbs Chapel I remember seeing that car drive around especially up and down Harry Hines.
saw it also. Lived off walnut hill/webbs chapel.
@rayrichards9322 Really I lived on Townsend 3199 3 houses from Webbs Chapel what school did you go to probably TJ huh I went to WT White.
Greetings from South Africa. Really enjoyed the format watching and listening to the thought process. Roll on the next one.
Very very special content. Thank you. Revival of actual old race cars is a really exiting route to go.
Chase is young and the world is his oyster with his talent it will a great ride I look forward to follow.
Chase left GMG, why??
Motion race works ... Has a mster cylinder rear proportioning valve fix that would make the rear the mains and the fronts 20% ish
I think this is the best episode yet. More like being there watching the real process. Without all the BS.
There will never be another Aaron.
These guys make a big deal out of the smallest stuff. Aaron said it then did it.
I feel like working for Richard would probably suck. He seems kind of like a diva. Im here for the guys that work for him. We need Richard to address the chase situation. Its fine if he moved on to a better company that just needs to be said
I didnt even notice he was gone
I agree not the same without Chase
I was wondering what happened to him. Now I know why Richard brought on a couple of new guys.
I imagine it’s not a lot of fun working with Richard. He thinks way too much of himself
@@jameskellison9342 Richard should've paid that kid so much leaving wouldnt be an option. Chase carried the whole shop
When Garlits made the rear engine the go to chassis in the early 70s, quite a few of the single seat FED's found themselves cruising the streets in California for a few years. Hot Rod and a few other mags showcased them!!
But the Digger was purpose built to be a street car to amaze cruisers.
I love fixing old historical items, you do wheeled things, I do machines and pews. Thank you and your team. seriously
Help at Gas Monkey will come and go its just the nature of the beast called Richard Rawlins.Hope we see Chase again some day doing well. Smiles 😃 from Canada 🇨🇦
Last time I saw chase was when they bought the Ferrari. He wasnt real happy that day. I'm sure he left same reasons Aaron left. Wants to do his own thing, and not be at work 24hrs. Day.
Hes working for some othet company. People posted it
I wondered where he was.
I hate when you are used to certain workers then they leave the show.
@@johncoinas what other company
@@chad8251 McDonald’s
@@eddiestonerbud7188 like fixing their semis? 😂
Hey gang! Where is young Chase?
This car is a legend, and just like a bulldog with a face a mother can only love, yet they are stinking adorable, so is this car! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! It's definitely a one off!
Gas Monkey Garage this is what i love the builds or rebuilds from your garage from 2012 love you show bless you and keep the rubber side down.
Rich is a hero. Without a doubt a master in the Buisnes side of flipping cars for profit. This Video has been the best insight on Richard, that he actually has an understanding in the mechanical & engineering side of Cars & that it his knowledge goes beyond aesthetics, consumer trends, air con and power steering. This video was Top. more of it.

I would put a real blower It should work fine and sound really good.
Camera kids are good at filming each other :)
I remember a model kit from back in the day called the Trantula that looked just like this.
For being a young guy building a street legal dragster was ahead of time. I'm shire back in the 70s he was getting lots of head turns.
A possible solution to your carburetor trouble would be using a modern holley sniper setup. It won't be seen and all the tuning could be done with a hidden tuner inside the cockpit. It's gonna be almost impossible to do any adjustments on a carburetor buried inside the blower housing. Just saying. Your southern Indiana fan Steve Riley. Keep up the great work. Woooooo....
Take the machine shop the replacement carb to bolt up to the manifold and dyno tune it on there so all the carb adjustments are completed on the dyno. Then remove the carb once all set and install it back into the polished housing with a new blower belt and bearings freshened up on all pulleys. Adjustments inside that fake housing will be a nightmare though a few well placed and machined holes and plugs for basic carb tuning (idle screws/mixture screws, etc.), would be proper improves.
Just so you can pop the shiny plugs and do final fine tune carb adjusting.
Richard, with Steel Horse Rally right around the corner on May 5th and 6th, I was just wandering if you would ever come to Fort Smith AR for the rally, from one rider to another, it's alot of fun and awesome bike from all over. Now it's not as big as Daytona bike week or Sturgis, but it's still alot of fun and it's close to home. From what I've heard there expecting 200k people this year. Would be awesome to meet you at Steel Horse, hell I'll even buy you a few miller's! Would Steel Horse Rally be something you'd be interested in?
Nice cool ride. I have a rat rod that I drive on the street and on cruise's that has a 8-71 blower and two carbs. Mine runs great and gets a lot of attention.

geuss gorillaPro didn't want their truck @ 17:30 🤣
Fipps tossing out the gages! I thought you guys were keeping it O.G. Like a peice of history.
Where's Chase lately? He should be on this!!!
Where is Chase? I have not seen him in several videos. Does he still work for the garage?
Also Victor the interior guy.
No he doesn't
With the advances in fibreglassing in the last 50 years they’d do well to send off the shell for work inside the body . Strengthen it while still flexing .
Crazy car! Definately needs a real blower on it though.
*Definitely
I'm really into this build, love vintage street rods!!!
When are you going to finish the digger dragster so we can see it ?? Or did something come up and it is on hold now ?? Thank you
This is definitely Phipps project. He is awesome.
Smart of Richard to tell the boys to document the whole thing as is so he can tell the story of this historical car.
New guy asks the right questions it's hard to know what direction Richard is going but the boys are hanging in there.
Richard Rawlings. Did you see the 100 cars for sale by Fayetteville Tennessee half are tri five Chevys and half are 61-64 Chevys and are 500-750$ each
Phipps, It would be much better to go and have the guy that built it sign that dash cluster. Or, have the builder and Richard both sign it, that would be even cooler.
Yall better double and triple check the front 3/4 of the chassis. The way he let it bounce all over the trailer might have cracked a bar. Dragster are notorious for cracking if you tow them without supporting the long skinny chassis.
We always ratchet strapped it down on the rear tires and the front of the frame and never had any problems with newer dragsters.
Thing is awesome. Looks like a pinewood derby car.
Phipps seems so exited about this car
Wonder where Mr Chase is these days? Hopefully he's doing well. Cool old car
Does anyone remember the Tarantula top fuel dragster ?
Cool 😎 . Let’s go Richard !
Very KOOL Ride Can’t wait for the next video
The Digger, And ,the (correct ) approach to its revival is outasight,, Didnt know Richard had it in him. Right on boys.,,K,,
This is my favorite video Richard more please!
Liked that last Richard said.
Authenticity 👍
A unique auto Project. Metro Detroit Loves you guys!! G
Yes boy..it's back
I dont know anything about the Digger im from UK .But this is the best show so far i love all the reverse engineering going on it must be a headache trying to work out how some built something with just whats in there head
Why am i always chosen as the lucky winner by hackers ?
If your going as far as modifying the digger, it would be great to see a collab with @StreetBandito where the fiberglass is remade and replaced with carbon fiber
... This 🤯
Super rad!!!! Excited to see what becomes of the Digger gentlemen!
Congratulations 👏 you just won 🏆 our giveaway for the day kindly message us ☝☝ on telegram to claim your amazing prices 🎉 🎁 🎁🎁
Haha phibs, he told me to take care of it hahaha. Dude is awesome.
I can’t wait to see the next episode
That poor Canes bus I saw it in the background. It probably hauntes Richard in his sleep.
Why not put a Holey Sniper on it?
As far as Chase Machinics change jobs, like most people change their oil. Good luck dude.
Richard is gonna go down the rabbit hole with this build but it'll be awesome when it's completely done. If he could turn it into an actual 70s style drag car that'd be cool AF.
I think Shawn P would be a great help around the shop!! He can’t trailer cars anymore. 😂
Hey the Raising Cane's bus is coming along nicely I see.
😂😂😂
A year+ later
Starting to believe that the customer was not happy with the outcome and refused to pay for it. Notice the Gorilla Glue truck is still there aswell. Very strange
I think people misunderstand Richard & Fipps relationship. Its like Richard is talking to an eccentric uncle, I don't see malice in the exchanges depite its obviously employee & employer. They have worked together for a very long time & I would think as a smart businesman Rich realises a long term asset when he has one. Even if hs record on employeers suggest they are all disposable & will be cut without looking back.
Digger shirt ordered cant wait, to see this finished and for my shirt. Top view version of the shirt for me.
Another great show. Thanks guys
Where’s Chase?
I think I se a Isetta in back ground.? Little white car, in background? Is it for sale?😁?
Does Chase still work there have not seen him on ur videos lately
Where's Chase and the new guy the one that worked at Fired Up Garage.
Good question Richard won't even mention poor Chase's name
who is phipps dad? seems like he was a legend back in the day in the car scene
Where's chase? I've always been so impressed with him and all the knowledge he has at such a young age. I didn't know they made guys like him anymore.
Chase lol! He is probably somewhere designing ugly buses. That " bus build " was such garbage.
@The Tilemaniac he does what richard wants hes the smartest guy in there
He's no longer working for gas monkey garage
Exactly what i was wondering and thinking. I'm most people jump to the worst possible conclusion, but man, I hope not!
I seen him helping out in lacey Blair's garage if you don't know she's a beautiful girl who does auto UA-cam but they are obviously missing him chase was skilled an good at being on camera
Although on the one hand, this car looks really cool and I would love to watch it driving down the street, I will pass on driving it down the highway myself!
Still have my first t shirt cost80us not great quality wore twice but love the show
U know it Cruze night once again love it ty ty ty
oooooh old man noises, i thought i might like this content but richard and phipps squirrel squirrell SSSQQQQIIIIRRRREEEELLLLL!!!!!
Awesome! A real life Hot Wheels car! Can't wait to see it finished.
OK Richard waiting for you to come clean on what happened to chase!
Hey where's Chase?
He's gone And Richard won't even mention why hes gone
This is going to be so cool
fantastic to bring this infernal machine to the road but it seems that this machine in my point of view needs to have some things that bring it to the XXI Century lights + security and more power ? have a stiffer chassis to sustain more power and so many possibilities like to BE a more dramatic mean machine
Now that's fast n loud 🤣
