Love the convenience. Sounds good for a wallet with a little bit of crypto in it. Personally, I wouldn't use it for my main stash, just like I wouldn't be comfortable walking around with one of my Tangem cards in my pocket (if I had a lot of crypto on it).
Agreed. At the very least don’t put all your eggs in one basket
Interested in your comment about not carrying the card. Personally I feel only things that are on my person at all times are safest. I feel a bit exposed even putting one of the cards in a safety deposit box, because some corrupt individual could always steal it, or leaving it hidden in my place because although unlikely somebody could rob the place or it could burn down. By this logic I also think writing down a seed phrase is absolute insanity and why this is the best solution I have seen so far.

@@_FightForYourFreedom_ You make very good points also. Each strategy (carry/hide) has pros/cons. The main reason I would not carry the card is to guard against a 'brute force' attack, eg, bad actor decides to rob me and notices a Tangem item with me and 'forces' me to send them crypto. btw, if someone 'steals' card they cannot use it without passcode/biometrics.

That’d be like carrying around your live savings everywhere you go. It’s just not a best practice.
I just talked to Tangem support. They said you will be able to add the ring to an existing account. You don’t have to do the seed phrase workaround. Also the webpage said it will be under 200 dollars. You will also be able to make payments with visa with the ring. And then I guess pay Visa with an account. But very interesting and good news.

@@cyberscrilla yeah hopefully they didn’t give me wrong information. I asked 3 times to clarify lol. But dealing with costumer service from the past services. They rarely seem to know thier job lol. Maybe I’ll still make the seed phrase just in case lol

I'm excited! With a size 13 plus finger I'm looking forward to the larger sizes.
I’m assuming they will offer nearly any size the ring manufacturer is able to make.
I love the ring. Got mine at the Cardano Summit. My only complaint is that I cannot connect to it without removing my phone case. I hope they can increase the NFC signal.
Interesting, mine works with the case on if I take it off my finger and hold it flat to the top left corner of my phone
@@cyberscrilla My Tangem 1.0 and 2.0 cards don't work either without my phone case off too. I have talked about that on my channel too. At least one sentence only ;)
But overall I love Tangem a lot :)))

Just brainstorming here. I know the option for seed phrase fixes the problem in the latest key release, but is it possible if you select the recommended procedure they advise on to somehow send an encrypted copy of that seed phrase directly to the cloud and only can be restored by providing a mobile number at the time of creating the wallet with options for 24 hour delay and a question and answer format that would prevent simswap and hackers having access to a new phone etc. Just thinking about how to build in one more safety measure so in the event you selected the recommended protocol you have that built in safety net should you ever lose all 3 cards as you say as well.@@cyberscrilla

Very interesting concept once again by Tangem. Very creative team and avant-garde over the rest of the field. I'm a bit more concerned about the antenna. We barely have any background so far regarding phone's high radiations possibly causing cancer. We know the Iphone 12 exceeds the legal limit for on-body radiation emissions. I wonder how much will this ring affect the hand. Because you wear this ring on your hand at all times, even closer to your body and skin than your phone.
Indeed. But phones give off more radio frequencies than this wallet does.
The wallet only uses NFC.

Would you find out pls if the ring is durable enough to go into a heated swimming pool, sauna, hot tub etc? I would love to give this as a gift for someone - do you think you can get a more accurate date from Tangem as to when it might be available? ... Ideally down to a particular month if they know? Great videos by the way! I just subscribed and am really enjoying your clear explanations where you go further than most in anticipating questions and answering them :-)
Yes. It can handle a hot tub. It can handle temperatures more extreme than your body can handle.
As for the release date, Tangem doesn’t know. Q1 of 2024 is all they tell me!

It's the same as my Tesla ring. The Tesla ring needs to be horizontal to the door to operate. Sometimes you have to take it off of your finger to get it to operate.

Does it easily scan while still on your finger, or is it something you need to remove to get it to scan better?
The beta version, I had to remove it.
So I can’t comment on how the final product will work.
Also, I have a phone case on.
It’s almost better you have to take it off so it’s not always scanning your phone.

Yes! Tangem is crushing it!
Last video you had about the ring showed it having to be removed to make it work. Ideally I would prefer if it could operate more discretely by NOT having to remove it.
That wasn’t my video considering this is the first video I’ve posted where I have the physical ring in hand.
It would be kind of annoying if you didn’t have to take it off, because every time you hold your phone it would be trying to scan your ring.
So taking it off is probably by design.
@@cyberscrilla Nah, that’s not how NFC works. You have to actively turn it on the phone to be able to read things. Also, when I had the original “NFCRing” as made on Kickstarter, you could turn the ring on you finger to have the chip face away from your phone and kit not be able to be read. There was a definite “face” you had to point at an NFC reader for it to be able to be picked up and read.
Wonder if I wear can wear it on my chain without damaging the inside sensor, ?

I don't understand the concept behind keeping you card/ring with you while you're doing your daily errands or go to work.
Why would I carry around all my crypto? I can lose the card or lose my ring and it's not that I need my crypto daily available at my fingertips.
Maybe I have a different mindset.
I like the look of the ring and Tangem cards but I don't see a reason to carry them around every day.
Everyone is different. For example, some people travel for a living so having your crypto readily available is nice.
Also, you don’t have to store all your crypto on one wallet, in fact, you shouldn’t.
You should diversify your portfolio across numerous wallets.

How will this work in reality when holding your phone with both hands it will keep signing into the wallet as your finger will be consistency on the back of your phone..
You have to take the ring off and hold it flat on your phone for it to work

I wish, that the ring's NFC could also work as a credit card. They use NFC too now.

@@cyberscrilla there are European sites which sell Tangem. There is no customs toll when delivered from eu to eu as there is from USA to Sweden where I live. I would hate to have any giant surprise customs costs from us delivery to swed.

No it doesn’t work like a debit card. It’s a crypto wallet. You can send, receive, hold, buy, and sell crypto using it
so it's like I had crypto on for example MetaMask account, but inside a ring?
Exactly. But this is a cold wallet. Much more secure than metamask

Tangem is not airgapped.
It’s firmware is not open source. But the Tangem app is 100% open source.
Not sure if it will be compatible with metamask. But it does have WalletConnect

There’s a wallet for everyone. You might not like it, but others do

Same goes for why would you want a cold wallet if you didn’t have it in an emergency. Choice is key. You can leave it locked up. Or carry it without worrying losing it.

What s the point of activate tangem cards generating seed phrase? You always have to treat either the card or the seed phrase as gold…plus if someone finds your seed you re fked if someone finds your tangem card still they need a code /biometrics.
I’d rather have the ability to recover my funds on any wallet, thus I prefer knowing my seed phrase.
It’d suck to lose your two Tangem cards and lose access to your crypto forever.
@@cyberscrillabut it s the same thing, what if you lose the seed phrase? Or what if someone finds it? How many are the chances you lose 3 cards? You should treat the cards as your seed phrase….the only difference getting your own seed is that you add complexity and when you add complexity you augment the chances of something going wrong
it's kind of expensive. I will stick to the cards. Actually i kind of dislike this ring becos of it thickness. Making it uncomfortable between the fingers especially when wearing it in a longer period of time. Hope also we need not take out the ring to scan on the phone. and for the price, and no c-phrase generation... kind of no no for me.
A couple things here.
As I mentioned in the video, the price is only my guess.
Also, the ring isn’t thick nor can you tell it’s on your finger.
And the final product WILL allow you to generate a seed phrase

Tangem doesn’t generate new receiving addresses. You need to create a new wallet if you want to stay private everytime.

My concern is the damn chip.
I have had terrible difficulties with the fucking chips in debit cards and credit cards.
I have gone through 8 different cards in past 18 months. I had a debit card COMPLETELY FAIL only two days after receiving the card
What chip are you talking about? The SE chip in Tangem wallets are designed to last 25 years minimum. And even if it fails, you can access your crypto on any wallet by importing your seed phrase

It’s a cold storage crypto wallet.
Absolutely none, in a world where better hardware wallets already exist. For example, wallets which actually have a display so you can confirm addresses for transactions. These Tangem things have too many security issues to be taken seriously

For example, if we want to create a new address to receive cryptocurrencies, we have to rely on the software, in this case the Tangem app, which shows us the address on the smartphone. But what if the software has been hacked and shows us a wrong address that doesn’t match our hardware wallet? We have no way of checking this on the hardware wallet and could therefore lose our cryptocurrencies."
Why not just use a wallet on your phone? Your phone has a secure chip on it and you lock your wallet with a 6 digit pin.
Because your phone is connected to the internet, cold wallets aren’t.

All wallets use the internet.
Hot wallet = private key stored online
Cold wallet = private key stored offline
To put it simply. You’re talking about a hot wallet. The ring is a cold wallet. Meaning you need the ring to get the money period. Even if your info is hacked. But hit wallet. You just need to be hacked.
@@cyberscrilla yeah but your phone can act like a cold wallet because the keys never leave the secure element. So if your phone was hacked, they still couldn't get your keys. The tangem wallet does provide another factor of authentication though, but your keys are just as secure on your phone in the secure element.

Maybe.. but that would be cheap. A normal ring made from the same material without the NFC antenna and secure element chip costs that much as it is.
It's no use, it's like the card if you activate the biometruc sensor of your smartphone with the fingerprint you open your account
Not sure what you mean? You still need the card/ring to approve transactions.

Persoanlly I wouldnt want to carry the keys to my wallet about with Me, I prefer a Ledger hidden at home, or indeed the Tangem card hidden at home, I wouldnt carry that about with me Either

Plus, as I explained in the video, there’s a way you can use your current cards with the ring potentially.
