    *English translation:*
    Pallavi:
Oh Jambupati, protect me and give me the knowledge of the nectar of true bliss.
    Anupallavi:
He is honored by Brahma and other celestials. He mitigates the affliction of the heart of Tumburu. He is of the form of water, the great ocean and the rivers such as Ganga, Kaveri, Yamuna. He is the beloved one of Akhilandeshvari, whose neck is as beautiful as a conch.
    Charanam:
In deference to the prayers of goddess Parvati, the Lord manifested in the form of the Linga representing the element water. He is the Lord of the universe, which is made of five elements. He is Shambhu, who is compassionate toward all beings. He manifests of his own accord in the forest inhabited by elephants. He is the nectar-like ocean of mercy, and is the succour to those who take refuge in Him. He is the indescribable Nadabindu. He always holds the Ganga and the moon on His head. He is the Kalpaka tree, and is engaged in the desireless Samadhi, supreme consciousness. He is the father of the pure, faultless knowledge in the form of Guruguha.

The carnatic music tradition has it that the violinist is listed, recognized and honored right after the vocalist (leading artist) no matter how great or a senior artist the mridangam player is. In this case however, Vid. Ananthakrishnan is a well versed violinist and has been accompanying all the present leading vocalists,

    Superb ! Jambupate Ragam Yamunakalyani
Tisra Eka /RupakamTalam Muthuswamy Dikshitar Krithi
This comes under Pancha Bhuta kritis of Muttuswami Dikshitar Panch means Five Bhutha meams elements of Creation Linga meams Representative of Lord Shiva Kdhrtra means Sacred Place and Krithi means Song the Five Krithis are Ananda naTana prakAsham rAga - kEdAram, tALa -

JambUpatE - a jambukEshvaram (also known as tiruvAnaikkA), is on Shiva as water, in which form he is worshipped near Trichy. The
sanctum of Shiva always has water from the Kaveri seeping in and in the rainy
season it floods the shrine. This is a song steeped in fluid symbolism. The
pallavi asks the Lord to give the nectar of bliss. The anupallavi states that
He is worshipped by Brahma who is seated on the lotus which is born in water
and that He quenches the fires (sorrows) of the heart. Then it states that He
is the Lord of the rivers Sindhu, Ganga, Kaveri, Yamuna (also the raga mudra)
and Goddess Akhilandeshwari who has a throat like a conch (which is of water
origin). The charanam refers to the sthala puranam and says that the Lord here
is the water Linga worshipped by the daughter of the mountains and residing at
    sAmajATavi (the forest of elephants).
P JambU patE mAM pAhi nijAnandAmRta bOdhaM dEhi !!
Oh Jambupati, I beg you to enlighte me
with nectar of knowledge that bestows bliss.

Brahma the lotus-seated and all other Devatas bow to you. You assuage afflictions of Tumburu who worships you heartily. You are manifested in oceans and rivers Ganga, kaveri and Yamuna. You are the consort of Akhilandeswari whose neck is beautiful like conch.

Oh Lord Siva, you are pleased with the prayer of Parvati the daughter of Hima mountains and appeared in the form of water-linga. You are the lord of the world made of the five fundamental elements of nature. You shower mercy on all beings. You manifested on your own accord in a forest inhabited by elephants. You are ocean of mercy. You are the prop for those who seek for shelter. You are indescribable center for divine 'Omkara Nadam'. You are adorned with Ganga and Moon. O Siva, you meditate in absolute tranquility, free from all aberations. You fulfill desires like the celestial Kalpaka tree. You are the source of dynamism and you are absolutely serene. You are the Guru of Guha.
