This rendition, steeped in bhakti, tugged at my heartstrings, and moved me deeply. Singing with bhakti, which emanates only from the heart, is so powerful that it is capable of melting even petrified hearts of any listener, said the great sage Narada. I have heard at least two dozen top vocalists singing this kriti; some of them have used this kriti as a convenient vehicle to display their “vidwat” by trying to adorn it with an over abundance of neraval and a torrential flow kalpanaswaras. But the saintly Purandara Dasa’s compositions glitter only in the mellow, soothing light of bhakti, and never under the glare of vidwat, no matter how profound. Using simple words Sri Purandara Dasa expressed profound thoughts in his kritis. The accompanying artists, Sri M S Anantha Krishnan (violin), and Sri Sumesh Narayanan (mridangam) have played very well indeed. I enjoyed immensely listening this rendering. This is how Sri Purandara Dasa's krithis must be sung. Thank you so very much for uploading this video. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania
There are very few male voices of younger generation in Carnatic music worth repeated listening. One among them...wish for great success to this young singer Gurucharan.

The Devaranama is woderfully sung. Instead of omitting the last stanza, containing ANKITHANAMA of Purandara Dasaru, the second one could have been dropped.
Very Very Nice rendition with clarity, suswara & with no fault in sahitya. But the keertana is not completely sung. This is the kruthi of great Purandaradasaru. But it is injustice if only half of the kruthi is sung. Please add the remaing portion also & do justice to the great great keertana bu the great great purandaradasaru.
