What a fun thing to do in Paris! One thing about scent that is so wonderful to me is how much it can evoke memories, both good and bad. I remember my maternal grandma ALWAYS wore a particular perfume, although I don't know the name of it. But even now, after she's been gone about 20 years, every so often I'll be out somewhere and I'll smell her perfume on someone in a crowd and instantly think, "It smells like grandma!" and it will take me back good memories to when I was a kid visiting her.
I totally agree. The way smells trigger memories is so crazy and interesting. I love that our brains work that way. -Ash
I like a more masculine scent and I love lavender. It would be so fun to try to create a new favorite cologne. How did Laura’s turn out?
Laura's was great. I think she was really happy with it in the end.
We all had similar fragrances in the end due to the base being so similar but all were squirting on our new colognes before leaving the house. lol

I went to an Essential Oils Perfume Making Class. I can totally relate. What I imagined it would smell like is nothing like my end product. I can’t wear it. My concoction smells like a household cleaner.
Oh no haha. I understand we had to really work with ours to try and get it away from the cleaner smell but I think we all felt by the end we had succeeded. Its freaking hard and even more so if you come into it with an idea of what you want it to smell like. -Ash

so interesting...I am VERY "scent driven" myself, such a primitive human response...have you been wearing your scents? Josh I suggest reading "Jitterbug Perfume" odd, peculiar but riveting...it is by the guy who wrote "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" stay safe!

So what happens when these scents meet human body scent? I would think there would be some sort of chemical reaction? Those 6 guys who make scents (or sense?) need to re-think a lot of those perfumes(?)---my nose thinks they smell a lot like bug spray--or body odor--my humble opinion--I only wear essential oils. Doesn't your sense of smell get overwhelmed after a bit--with all those different scents?
Yeah they totally change once it hits your skin. And thats the hard thing about scents (and why there are so many variants). I've heard essential oils are good too... but any traditional perfume or cologne is exactly that: A blend of essential oils with varying amounts of alcohol to deliver them in. And yes, too many of those colognes or perfumes you buy in the average store are like bug sprays. I prefer deeper notes (vanilla, wood, etc) on both men and women, but some like others.
Yes, essential oils do have health benefits. In the past 10 years, I have yet to find a perfume I really like. Unlike Ashley, I do prefer lavender as it makes me think of my passion for France, but there aren't many other scents I really like. It would be a real challenge for me to do a class like that, my body reacts so quickly to overwhelming smells--sneezing, itchy lips and tongue. But that did look like a lot of fun--as with all things Parisian!
To much speak in class..she did took note...almost she drink that perfume..nothing serios..I wish I learn how to make perfume..Those oil and lavender..mix is easy..
