  • Reviewing my Honda CB300R (2023 model) after 7 months of riding and 4500 km. I've already posted a review of this bike, recorded shortly after buying it, but now that I've had some decent time with the bike, how is it?
    In short, the beauty and the beast.
    Correction: as it has been pointed out to me in the Comments, this bike doesn't have traction control, so my video claim that it has is in error. Though it does have traction most of the time...fortunately :-)

    I really appriciate the slow motion at 06:46 I am 185cm and have been worried how well i'd fit on this bike but it seems okay. a comprehensive review, thanks

      Thanks, JAM. Yeah, I find it quite good in this respect. Have to say my body height was last measured at least 30 years ago, but since then a lot of chiropractic has been done, so it shouldn’t be dramatically different. Cheers.

    Good comments. I was already aware of the poor battery location but useful additional information.

    I have the 2023 and I've never noticed anything about the seat except that it looks good. otoh, I never spend more that an hour or so on this bike, so maybe if you want to use it as a distance tourer--something it's not designed for--your results may vary. In its proper role, it's tough to beat this peppy little monster. She's my 14th bike (I've owned mostly litre-class machines) and I love this small Honda for zipping around the smooth two-lane back-roads in my rural county.

      Yeah, everyone is different. Some people can handle more discomfort than others. My body is quite sensitive to this. Cheers.

    I'm still salty I don't have a gear position indicator on the instrument panel on my 2022 CB300R. Other than that, and the really terrible spread of the headlight, and the rear fender stalk...this bike is incredible tbh. I could ask for a tiny bit more power but I would not want the bike anymore heavy so I am happy with the power/weight balance as-is. That said, I'm going to be buying the CB650R very soon.

      Well, the cb650r is 50 kg heavier, which is quite noticeable. Safe riding.

    fellow Ontario rider here, also owner of a 2023 cb300R and I have had mine for only about a month and a half and I have clocked up 2200km on mine! Lovely little thing and will easily hit 130kmh on the highway so it can do whatever you need it to...
    As for the cushion... I ride a bicycle whenever I am not on my cb300r... and that is a hard foam saddle that doesn't really cushion or support anything... so by comparison this "hard seat" is like a throne built just for my butt.
    Edit: yours has traction control? I didn't think it came with it and just lean sensitive ABS... the manual says nothing about it either.

    • @BlueAlgon
      @BlueAlgon  9 місяців тому

      HI Adam, thanks for the comments. Glad you find it comfy. At the same time: the body is not designed to rest on a hard surface with much of the body weight pressing down for longer periods of time; perhaps the feet could be a slight exception, but even then they were designed to walk on natural ground, not on pavement or hard floors.
      Edit traction control? I believe my comments were justified. The experiences I've had with traction control so far mirror this bike. Adding traction control to a bike with ABS is easy. In what area of Ontario do you ride? Cheers.

      Re: "traction control", Adam is correct. The CB300R does NOT have traction control (Honda can verify that for you), so I'm not quite sure what Michael is referring to.
      But otherwise, it was a unique review, and I enjoyed watching it.

      @@geodude-633 Ok, OK, I sit corrected. No traction control. I buttsumed it had it as when I was going up a steep-ish grave hill and the rear wheel started skipping on the washboard surface, it felt like the power was being cut, like with my previous bikes that (really) had traction control. Did I consult the owner's manual? Of course not 😀

    Parádna recenzia moc dík. Tá baterka pod nádržou je hrúza :) inak čo sa týka rýchlosti na dialnici tak veľmi odporúčam windshield. Pred pár dňami som ho namontoval na moju Monkey a pridalo to snáď 5hp 💪 :)

      Ahoj Martine. Díky. Moje zkušenosti s windshieldama není zrovna nejlepší. Oni pomůžou s jednou věcí, ale pak dělají turbulence které třesou s hlavou a nebo rámus. Mě moc nevadí úplně naked motorka...i když je fakt že na dálnici to na dlouhé jezdění moc není.

    hi Michael, I’m looking to get this bike and I heard that you replaced the plastics to your bike. I wanted to ask what parts you needed to replace the plastics just for the color swap. I want the red one and I don’t know how many plastic parts come with the set. Great video please let me know if you can provide that information for me.

      Hi Mikael. It is three parts: the right and left tank cover assembly and the front fender. Here is a copy of the part names from the dealers invoice; just bear in mind they are yellow: 61000K0AEB0ZA:FENDER SET, FR. (WL) *TYPE4* 64445K0AEB0ZA:Honda COVER ASSY., L. I was afraid the seat to be too hard when I sat on the bike in the shop, but while I am riding, I put some weight on the pegs so the seat to me is perfectly comfortable. Maybe if I would travel long distance without turning, like 3 hours on the highway without using my feet, I might find the seat too hard.

      I had my 2020 for 2 years taking 4-5 hour rides in one shot. The seat does feel uncomfortable after an hour and a half and the vibration of the engine makes your hands numb. Other wise its a great bike around the city.

    Hi.Nice review.I have been thinking about buying this for sometime.What's the max speed you can cruise at on the highways without getting tired from the windblast? Would you suggest a windshield for this?

    • @BlueAlgon
      @BlueAlgon  7 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Thanks for the visit and comments. Hmm, in my case, for longer riding on the highways I'd say about 90 km/h is decently doable (about 55 mph). My experience with windshields is mixed. On my Vespa scooters they helped; on the F750GS they introduced either noise or turbulences (shaking the head). So I'd rather slow down and face a clean wind blast then to ride very fast and have my head shaken, or noisy. How much do you want to ride on the highways anyway? Usually for trips people want to get off the fast roads and enjoy the countryside, no? Cheers.

    +1 sprocket in the front, because stock gear ratio it's too short (and speedometer 10% off)
    replace rear sprocket with an aftermarket without the chain guard (because makes the chain noisy)
    thanks me later
