- After long last Sarge gets his hands on the 2023 Honda CB300R which has overnight turned into a strong contender in this highly contested segment after Honda India dropped its price to a more sensible Rs. 2.4L. But does it have the goods to take down the new KTM Duke 250? Sarge hops on to find out.

Honda, with all due respect, grant this man the motorcycles he requests. If nothing else, you're missing out on reaching out to people who look for his reviews before purchasing a two wheeler.
Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
True....
totally agree
Sagar...bhava tu best ahes
I had took it for a test ride last year ... Oh man! it blew my mind.. its compactness and playfulness and P/W makes it so good. Also the quality and smoothness, literally bulletproof engine...Such a good combo for an enthusiast. I really loved it.
It is a surprise package
you just defined Honda. that's what they are. i always say buy Japanese. my friends have bought 3 or 4 new bikes but my Yamaha doesn't need change. 14 plus years.
@@sharathvasudevwhich bike?
Japanese brands are definitely above all in terms of quality
But finally life of machine also depends on how you maintain it and treat it
I still have pulsar 2003 model in working condition though I hardly use it now a days since i bought cb300r in 2019
@@sharathvasudev Agree with you still holding on to my 5 year OG Gixxer
Going from a Unicorn to Cb300r made me rethink my priorities. But, that test ride changed the equation. At the same weight, I felt I was riding an rx 100. This pocket rocket is a godsend from Honda! 🙏

How much fo you pay or service.
No doubt, if Yamaha ever makes an rx100 successor it should just be a really light bike maybe 250 cc but under 130 kg
Proud owner for almost 22months(bought in Feb22). Have covered 20k kms and still in love as much as or more I was on day one. Perfect for city rides.. pocket rocket and buttery smooth engine. ThanQ Honda for bringing it back at more reasonable price ❤

What about the mileage tho😮
What mileage you are getting?
His last line-"when it comes to Pure Riding Experience THE HONDA is arguably the most exciting motorcycle that I have ridden especially in this price segment" made me feel the real essence of a HONDA bike. Japanese Engineering at its very best🔥
Once a Honda will always be a Honda❤
Wish it was the norm and not the exception
it's a norm imo .. i recently shifted from Hyundai to Honda cars .. & i've turned into an automobile enthusiast & started studying about cars

It's the weight. Thats the main factor in the enjoyment of motorcycles
This bike is so underrated in India for it's initial high price tag.
But right now, it's one of the best and VFM in the segment.
Loved this review, Sarge. ❤
Cheers mate..do like and share the love ahead
Honda service is poor and quality has dipped drastically! So don't know if its VFM or CFM.
@@amaldev4150 Honda's quality is never bad. The Japanese big 4s are still the most reliable ones in the 2 wheeler segment.
There may be random cases with some faulty products.
That happens to all brands.
But when the "no. of products sold to the no. of reliabile products" ratio is considered, it's still better than all other non-japanese brands.

Sarge, thx for reviewing CB 300R. Waited many years for this review. I own CBR 250r n knew the potential of Honda engine very well. Problem lies with Honda India to undermine this exciting 250-400 cc segment & also Indian market. While other brands r giving various exciting options in this segment, Honda is just acting normally. Despite of having CBR 250r's success, they never cared abt future.
Anyways thx a lot again to review this bike. & thx again for doing it by urself rather than depending on Honda India.

I own this bike. Mine is the CKD model. The bike is seriously underrated. The CKD version in my opinion wasn't overpriced. But when they brought up the BS6 model which is locally made was too overpriced. My experience with it is wonderful. It's one of the most fun bikes for up to 120 kph I have experienced in this segment. As always great review sarge ❤️🔥✨

Have been waiting for your take on this. This Honda unfortunately got lost in the slew of launches we have had from RE, Triumph and TVS. Always been a fan of this bike and the killer price tag from Honda was something I believe nobody could have anticipated. Now waiting for your review on RS457. Indian biking scene has gone on a whole new level this year.

And we are Live
This is the bike I would buy if I was still living here. People miss out on lightweight high revving fun bikes like this can be. I love the drama high revvs bring, that's neither safe or not attainable in moat scenarios on big engine bikes. If I can convince my brother to get it, I might have one to ride when I visit 😂. Awesome review man, a job very well done.

Lovely review there! I'd pick the Honda over the KTM any day. Quickshifter I don't care about- tyres I can always upgrade and spongy brakes have always been the hallmark of Honda motorcycles- but you get used to it. But what you get is a smooth motor and the gearbox that'll work the same even after 100k kms and it'll be stable as a rock unlike other motorcycles that start wobbling with age. I remember being confused between a KTM 200 and the CBR250R when they both came out- I went ahead and bought the CBR. It clocked over 250,000 kms and to shamelessly admit- I neglected maintenance big time, but it just went on and on.

To add to the cons rear seat is useless, even if someone manages to squeze into it - hand grip is below the butt which is not easy to hold.
Saree guard - no use when noone can sit in the rear.
The horn is not just swapped with indicator, its pushing down actuation is positioned away so your tumb finger cant push it down easily. you have to hold the bar at the closest point and you have to lift your hand to push the horn - very very very annoying.
Seat is not cusioned properly where tigh meets the tank so when you are one footing in traffic its uncomfortable.
Mileage is 25 in city 😅
Bike is designed for japanese market where people are skinny. Needs some basic design changes for indian market.

speed 400 has great oomph but man those buzz not vibes is a deal breaker for me they gotta iron that out in a refresh or somthing
@@hyakinthos_0902 Absolutely. The Speed 400 is a motorcycle that holds your hand and says to you, ‘I am with you in this, push the limits’ and the moment you do push the limits, the motorcycle gets scared of its own character.
If the Duke 390 is a scary fast motorcycle the Speed 400 feels like a scared motorcycle due to the buzz which that engine produces.
Triumph is one of my favourite brands, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the Speed 400 when I took an extensive test ride of the machine.
I would rather have preferred a twin cylinder Bonneville Speed 300 than what they are offering with the Single Cylinder Speed 400.

I test rode both of them and went with Speed 400. Of course at that time it was a pretty easy choice as Honda was costlier than it is now.

I bought one earlier in the year but barely used it and ultimately sold it after mere months. I really want a middle weight supermoto but no-one makes them for the road in Europe atm. The mad scientist in me imagined getting am Aprilia SX 125 and putting this engine into it. This engine was smooth and a little punchy low in the revs but didn't keep going into higher revs. Even so, I wish Honda would make a 400cc road legal supermoto. Atm the only options are 125 and then a jump up to 700. This little 300 was nice and easy and very smooth. Honda could apply the same engineering to a slightly larder single, release a supermoto, and they'd sell out instantly because there's no competition.
That would be cool
Nice review. The scenery was amazing. And yeah CB300R is a great motorcycle. Also IMU based ABS is less intrusive should the tyres have been better. And about the Duke 250, that is a SOHC setup and calmer than CBR300R at low rpms.

Finally a review from Sarge of my dear bike, cheers mate.
Completely agree on the tyres, it’s unfortunate. Never felt any issues with brakes being wooden but then again I use heavy engine braking so possibly never realised it. Also, it’s def not the best touring machine but I’ve toured a lot and have to say it’s perfect for those small twisty roads of the western ghats. I’m enjoying it thoroughly, wondering if I should swap better tyres and maybe tune the engine a bit and see if I can extract more from the engine.
All in all, I think it’s a fantastically fun bike to ride and isn’t given its due credit!
Highly recommend upgrading to the mrf steel brace w rated tyres
@@SagarSheldekarOfficial Thanks for the suggestion mate, probably will do so before I take it to the track in March!
I had a test ride of this beautiful machine a year back and was blown. Can you please elaborate how fairly the bike did while touring?
I currently own a Yamaha FZ-S 2010 model and did a few long tours - even 1000 kms in a day a few times and it faired well. I might end up doing the same on this machine but need some user reviews who actually own it like you do.
@@abhi170490 Honestly most of my touring is of the small ghat roads and trails kind because highways are boring. I therefore don’t like to do more than 300-400km a day, though I’ve done 500 in a day. My thoughts -
Seat comfort - Seat is firm which is good for distances. I know some people have added extra padding for extra long distances. I found it’s to be good for a solid 300-400km before it has a bit of sag and is a bit uncomfortable.
Body position/rider triangle - On the committed side slightly, you have a bend to the bars. I’m 5’10 and have found a good position for myself so no wrist or back pains.
My legs however do get cramped because it’s a small bike. So if you’re shorter than me it should be fine, if you’re taller will def be an issue I think.
Luggage - Using a tail and tank bag, no issues with luggage. Points to tie bungees are less but smart bungee wrapping solves the issue.
Mileage - 30-35, depending on riding type and roads.
Suspension - Def firm, needs a bit of slowing down on bad patches. Fantastic on tight twisties and good highways.
Trails and light off roads - Surprisingly doable due to low weight and good low end torque.
All in all, I love the bike. Not the ideal tourer but if you want a spirited bike that’s fun wherever you take it, can def recommend. In addition, solidly reliable so good to take wherever.

I'm stuck choosing between the Triumph 400X and CB300R. The CB300R feels light, but the Triumph has features like ride by wire and traction control. I've been riding my 11-year-old FZ16, and it's time to give it a rest and upgrade to a 300-400cc bike. I'd prefer one with a refined engine, minimal vibrations, and the ability to cruise around 100km without a break. Pillion support isn't a concern. Any thoughts on which bike fits
I think the speed 400 is the best of the lot
The brakes secret is simple, change the pads and you get a power brake you need. Now going at 60kms I can stop just whit the rear brake in half of meters, than before with the 2 brakes at same time. I just replace the OEM pads for EBC sintered pads.
Good on ya

Hey can you suggest me the best tyre upgrade for my CB300r as I have covered almost 14k on stock ones and I am done with them.
Look up MRF Steel brace w rated tyres
How about metzelers aur apollo alpha h1?
@@greasemonkey002 if you can get your hands on the w rated metzeler M5 nothing like it
I just got it yesterday. And fair to say that it's a pretty capable and beautiful machine. Love the content btw, love from Northeast. ❤

Price??
Why dint u chose cb350?
@@rajankapoor299 I bought it here in Agartala, Tripura it was Rs 2.7 on road. And I prefer the neo cafe looks of the 300r better than the classic look of the cb350.
Amazing review sarge, Love this machine so much!

Awesome review Sarge! Need a Ninja 400 review ! Does it make sense as an upgrade from a Duke200 BS3
Yet to ride it but yes it will be a small upgrade
took a test ride. why does the throttle open/close feel so choppy/jerky? like when we close the throttle it's almost does a reverse lunge...
i want to buy this bike but can this be fixed...?
That's down to the really short gear ratios
