- You guys deserve to know what"s been sucking up all my free time these past few months ;)
Drifting in Assetto Corsa in VR with even a basic sim rig is an almost unmatched experience, and I really think that if you have an interest in it, even though the cost of wheels/headsets is high, you should still take a serious look into this, it is worth it!!!
Sim Rig Setup
Logitech G29 wheel
-Modified power supply and cooling (better wheel FFB)
-3DRAP wheel adapter
-350mm deep dish wheel
Logitech Pedals
Logitech Shifter
-Dojo CF shift knob
-3DRAP shifter adjustment (better shifting feel)
Color Tree USB Handbrake
3 24" monitors (or Valve Index for VR supported games)

Dude, go ahead and cover everything you do. Mod guides to videos covering any racing games you've been enjoying. I'm sure most of us watch you for you and not just Forza.
Agree. More assetto would be Great!
This video makes me want to get a headset and wheel and learn stick virtually. I’m sure there’s no way it could compare to the real feel of a car. But it’s better than stalling and feeling like an idiot lol. I finished initial D years ago but after rewatching it here I am again talking about how cool all this looks.
@@theprophet9428 you dont need a headset, but its nice
So I started drifting in AC even before I got my drivers license. Now I own a fwd car, so no drifting there, but recently I got an opportunity:
A friend of mine knew about my Assetto Corsa shenanigans and offered me to drive his M3 E92. We drove to the nearest empty parking lot and started drifting perfect circles... just kidding, I spun it a bunch of times. ;)
But surprisingly after a bit of practice I actually managed some decent drifts and I'm sure after some time I could be pretty good.
Goes to show how realistic AC is and how easy it is to translate it to the real world.
So from 1 to 10, how realistic is it? Apart from g force and which mod seem to be more realistic? I am always curious by these...
Well, I can talk about the M3 E92. Its pretty accurate I would say. 9 out of 10. The car reacts the way you would expect it to.
As for other cars or mods, I have no clue. The drift versions and many mods are very easy to drift, but considering how much torque they have and the tuning that might very well be accurate.
Thank you so much for the explanation its very helpful
haha im same with everything but I got to drive a rwd truck in the snow. I just got my license and now own an old civic. Still gonna try and drift the civic with a Scandinavian flick when the snow comes back :)
Driver 1, PS1.
Don't scando flick your Civic in the snow. That will not end well. ^^^
Must be horrible going back to Forza after playing this lol
forza is great on a controller but that's it, i find it unplayable on a wheel, also loading times suck and online sucks in forza xd
@@DMSBrian24 I agree

Went from gta racing to this. Imagine the culture shock lol
Oh no... I just bought Assetto Corsa just then And I’m a GTA player. Imma die.
@@genuinestance387 Haha good luck. GTA is a bit like playing Spy Hunter on the NES. Lots of fun, but not very useful in sims. But no other game seems to do flying submarine cars as well as GTA.
@@JohnSmith-op4gd yeah well I gave up 🤣
@@JohnSmith-op4gd LMFAO, On the Ps3 GTA 5, We don't have what ya;ll do on the Ps4 and PC versions XD
Hey don't give up, it's worth learning! Start with something like the Toyota GT 86 (or even Abarth 500). If you are using a gamepad, turn on traction control and ABS. Then Just do time trial laps on Imola until you can stay on the road. Pay attention to the ideal line, and slow waaay down when going into turns. It will help your racing in other games as well.
Awesome! Would be interesting to see your thoughts on the Touge scene in Assetto! (Not just drifting but the competitive racing scene as well!)
That's something I really want to start diving into more!! I've hopped in a few public servers in Akina but people were mostly just kind of messing around and crashing a lot so I haven't been able to fully get into it yet, maybe for another video soon though!
@@HokiHoshi Wicked :) Touge Life 1 (I'm assuming that's the public server you jumped on) has its fair share of newer drivers (being one of the most newbie-friendly touges), but hang around long enough and you can run into some really good racers!
Another server you might be interested in is the Shutoko Revival Project (it's a server/map that covers the tokyo highway networks including the famous C1 and Bayshore routes)
Haydz yeah TL1 really is a shot in the dark on what kind of drivers you’ll get
@@HokiHoshi I know the ping and the timezone won't be the best for you considering the origin is Australia but I highly encourage you to look into the ADC (Australian drift co) servers. There are usually at least 4-5 running at one time and each has their own particular track and set of cars.. Every time i play these servers, even if its a weekday, they are always busy and quite often have servers that are full. They have competitions, sponsorships, the lot and many international players jump on anyways and quite often I find myself drifiting with an american or Uk person without too much trouble.. Generally if your ping is under 150ms you can still tandem without too much lag.. There are thousands of members with many new members daily so please check out the awesome content and maybe even look into the competition coming up in January? This is by far the most comprehensive and content rich servers/discord group you will find on Assetto Corsa. I found nothing that came even slightly close in over 2 years. Here's the discord link: discord.gg/yQxZNvT
You'll also find a lot more serious drivers on these servers and quite often you can jump into a server with just vr headset users with good sim wheel setups and you won't have as much trouble with noobs crashing into you all the time..
HokiHoshi akina is by far one of the most competitive tracks on assetto corsa. The touge life server is great and it’s fun trying to set laps because they have an online leaderboard.
It’s great that AC is getting recognized again. It was pretty popular when it was new, then it went under for a while. So glad it’s coming back!
Damn, you just sold me on Assetto, ty!
i was just about to comment that. :D
It's sort of okay with a controller, but you really need a wheel and pedals to feel just how good the force feedback is in this game.

I’ve been playing assetto corsa for awhile now. If I had to say, the best part about this game is that it has a little bit of everything you can ask for: Dirt racing, Street Racing, Touge, Drifting, etc. Also, given the resources and time, you have the ability to make your own mods. It’s really limitless fun.

I don't know why you tube always suggest videos that are months old but still great vid and thank you. I was playing AC on Xbox when this came out, now I've been on a PC for about a month. Everything you just said is exactly how it went for me. All the cars and maps you'll ever want. A far cry from the 2 drift tracks and 5 cars on the Xbox version. PC version is so much more and I look forward to my time spent drifting online. I have a TX with a Sparco rim and Sparco hand brake. I hope this can excite even more people to come out and give this sim some love. Nothing like a 24 person server with a tandem line that's 10 cars deep. Thank again for the video bro.
Been holding off on this because I don't have my setup yet. But you sold me with this. Thanks.
Big AC drifter here, and irl drifter in my E36, I love AC. I learned to throw manjis using AC as a practise platform and then translating that skill to my real drift car. It's a super game. Sadly most online servers are dominated with low effort drift mods right now :(
Little hack for you. Set fire to a small piece of rubber in your room while you are playing the game 😂
So immersive!! 😂
Wasn't a point in the video? Mate, you've sold it to me. I got a wheel coming this christmas without real use than ETS2. Now i am a massive drift nerd. This paired with the pc and vr? Can't thank you enough mate!
More on asseto please! I dont see too much of this game and i really love it

Yeah man AC is the best. It took me about a good 4-6 weeks to get good at drifting in the game. Nothing else I've played is like AC. Its accurate, its challenging, it's fun. Wish I could whip around like you on them tracks but getting there.
always a blast to see realistic tandem drift in a video game.
I own AC since 2014, but owning no wheels and had no money for a serious wheel/computer so couldn't play the game.
Now will finally be able next month. Can't wait.
Them tandems were crisp geez
Nice to see a valve index being used for VR racing. Got my index and getting ready to pull the trigger on the Logitech G920 to finally dive into VR/Wheel racing
I've never drifted a car before playing assetto corsa. first time sitting behind the wheel and getting a car sideways was effortless with the amount of practice in game ive had.
My most favorite thing in asseto corsa is just the driving in general. Im a teen and started to drive irl and this game has taught me car control for sure. Mostly the car i race is Sennas lotus
ever since i got my t300rs ive been hooked
Thanks for making this video. I've been sort of into the idea of setting up a racing sim in my house so I could learn to drift on the cheap. This seems like a pretty good way to do that. This video was a lot of food for thought for me. So thank you!
I just got a G29 and I'm trying to learn more about what sims to play/experience/learn from. This vid was awesome man thanks.
If anyone is just getting into sim racing, heres some stuff I've learned over a couple of years.
1. If a sim handbrake is out of your budget, buy an old flightstick. (I use a Logitech Attack 2) You can find them at pawnshops, Goodwills and garage sales for super cheap.
2. When you first buy pedals, buy a can of electronics cleaner spray. The pedal-height sensors get random stuff in them, like dust and pet hair. This can cause random input spikes when you're not touching anything, and prevent you from going full throttle. It's really really annoying for racing, and I spent a long time trying to figure out what was wrong. (I thought it was software)
Assetto is awesome, I've been playing it since it was in pre-release alpha and beta testing, it really puts into perspective how well Force Feedback can actually be done if you've only ever played more arcadey racers with a wheel setup.
only thing i'd buy a VR-setup for
This and the new half life game
Yeah both awesome
Had a chance to play assetto in vr
Never wanted to use a monitor again, but unfortunately :D
dogukan kuru sets are not that expensive, and oculus is working on a standalone vr headset that you can use without a pc

damn i have 1200 hrs in assetto and just recently got back into it. Its so good makes me wonder why i stopped in the first place. Also the other drifters have gotten so good its crazy. I remember that you had to search for ages in public drift lobbies to find someone to tandem with now you just hop online and boom 5 person drift train its really amazing. Also with sim racing systems you can get some pretty good racing out of it aswell if you are interested that is.
All the drift servers are ruined now by these god-awful Tando buddies cars. They are absolutely horrible to drive, and the tracks they choose are always awful and boring (Ebisu Kita or Drift Playground get boring after drifting them for years). I miss the old SDC days.
William Austin you must not get around much then. Theres several servers running wtds, simply sideways, 501, and dw cars. Just have to look.

R-Bee Media dang, I mostly go to ICAR Mirabel tho and it’s pretty good there as well
They modded my local track too! I need to get a pc
Go Ryzen 5 3600 and AMD RX 5700 XT, and 16GB 3200/3600MHz CL16 RAM, and get an Oculus Rift S. You won't regret one bit of it.
By the way, best motherboards to get are the MSI B450 Gaming Plus MAX or MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX (MAX, not regular). Best value for money by far, and BIOS compatibility (you'll need to update the BIOS before you do anything on it with a USB stick.
Or you could just get ripped off and buy a pre-built, bit I recommend not to do that.
@Gibbon Are you kidding me? Do you have any idea how expensive that is in comparison. You're looking at a couple grand for a decent car, a few hundred dollars PER DRIFT SESSION for tires, quite a lot of money for fuel, maintenance costs, paying to rent/use a track, car insurance, ET CETERA. We use simulators because it's always readily available for use, there are no other costs besides the initial payment, and it's fairly inexpensive for what you actually get.

I have Assetto but no wheel, and let me tell you it's alright on controller but wheel looks soooo fun
How hard is it from Horizon 4? I'm also thinking of getting it but no wheel
Vaccaria it’s honestly not that hard, but it’s not easy. It’s definitely something you’ll have to get used to and something that will take a lot of fine tuning in settings for the controller. Coming straight from Forza it’s gone be pretty difficult, so I’d recommend finding an easy track with the least amount of corners and just practicing by yourself
@@vaxaria5108 Unfortunately AC and FH4 are two different games. FH4 is a sim-cade (casual racing) while AC is aimed to be a legitimate simulator (serious racing)
I mean i play asseto with mouse and keyboard but i have a script which simulates wheel ( so i can have cluch) and its its actually very fun to drift, buying asseto is one my best desicions ever made :p
Physics might not be as good as i racing or r factor but it doesn't need to be they're good enough and the modding alone more than makes up for it. If you wanna practice on a local road or track chances are someone has made it and if it doesn't exist you can make it yourself.
u cant drift in iracing, the game forces the car to spin out, idk why, they have coded the physics for drifting but only on dirt. They probably want to keep iracing a "profesional" racing game and not a drift game

what wheel settings? how on earth are you drifting in this game with a g29?i am not a drifter or even good driver irl by any means. but i do occasionally do the odd powerslide in my altezza. and irl its easy. but in assetto corsa i just cant drift. i feel half the problem is the g29 wheel rotation being too slow. so id have to learn to manually throw the wheel. and turn ffb off or at least way down. the other half is made up by me just not having any drifting experience or knoweledge, being impatient etc and also not being able to feel the forces of a real car, not feeling the car starting to break traction and shift sideways until its too late etc. but the g29 at 900degrees just feels really really hard to drift with. ive found vr helps because i feel the rotation of the car better and can look into the corners etc. like when sideways instead of staring at the apex (for e.g a cliff) i can just look ahead at the direction the car is going instead of direction the car is facing.
Have the same problem but i looked at a video (the assetto corsa guide or something) and i downloaded a LUT and it's alot better but its VERY different in different cars, like the bmw its okay and some modded cars its either good or really bad.
Use 720 degrees with a G920/G29. The wheel cannot keep up. Good to also use LUT and certain settings to provide a smoother experience.
But I'm sure you figured it out now.
@@oku1317 I'm not sure I want to mess with lut's. Does that only affect the one game, or all games? But yeah, I might start using 720 instead of 900 for assetto corsa drifting, thanks
