@@HokiHoshi increasing the traffic XSX/S and PC as well as adding civilians to the city sidewalks I think would make the game feel way more alive and make the roads feel tighter to race around in.
Would be even better if they added the DLC's seamlesly to the existing map. But no, a console can't handle that so the PC community has to suffer. It is one feature a big part of us want. But it won't happen. Every single Horizon do NOT need a city to be enjoyable. When i want that i'll just switch to FH4 and drive around Edinburgh.
@@DanielFrost79 actually the consoles shouldn't have any issues at all with adding a city to the map, but I think a dlc area of FH3's city would be the best fit though we can just fast travel there like the rally island and hot wheels.
@@Dragonlord826 What i meant was that the DLC's added to the map so we could drive to and from those DLC areas. We wouldn't neet a loading screen between. That is what console's can't handle. Something with size and how it's cached i believe.
FH5 is a genuinely good game for what it excels at but it's also understandable why fans of FH1 would dislike FH5. Everything that FH1 excels at, is where FH5 falls flat.
It's also worth pointing out the NATURE of the places FH5 shines, and that they aren't particularly _soulful._ That sounds harsh, but think about it: customization options, sound and graphics improvements, car list increases, and post-launch support should in no way be underestimated as positives to the experience of a game, but they can also be boiled down to boxes to tick. They are important, but obvious. Dare I say....easy? And in a world where technology is constantly advancing, it is almost inevitable that a racing game will come along with more cars, better graphics, and possibly better handling. It could be Horizon 6. That won't make 5 _bad,_ but perhaps less memorable. 5 is damn good, but it's not quite _special._ Forza Horizon 1's brilliance is in the immaterial - the kinds of things you can't just quantify. It goes beyond data and succeeds in ways that are only possible with a clear artistic vision. The festival _feels_ like a festival, the premise is evocative, and while the story may be cheesy, the game clearly has a colossal heart. Horizon 1 is a love letter to car culture whose world sucks you in because, at its core, it's just a really good story. Horizon has many good games, and 5 is one of them. Based solely on options, fidelity, the ability to make your car feel like YOURS, FH5 is one of the best racing games ever made. But where 5 aces tests, 1 wins _hearts,_ because in a series full of good games, it's the one good story.
Horizon 1 is a great game with a distinctive atmosphere but let's get real, it's mostly a NFS clone with an unoriginal "rookie climbs the ranks and defeats douchebag champion" storyline.
Instead of being a game with a lot of content, FH5 is just a lot of content without an actual game. And because some of the content is very good, and can be used to have lots of fun, people confuse using the content to make their own fun, with playing a good game
The Mexico map is fairly bland compared to UK and Australia, however, the most important thing that FH5 does the best is the car handling. I still enjoy FH3 & FH4, but I usually come back to FH5 because I think the car handling is fantastic and makes for a fun experience. I also agree that the Rally Expansion has some of the best roads to date, but for the love of all that is holy Playground games, please make the expansions a seamless part of the base map for FH6. If the Rally Expansion map was integrated to the main map, I would be much more willing to drive there.
Yep 100%, I've been begging for DLC maps that connect to the main map for ages, if the Rally DLC was just connected by a highway or something at the top of the main map, I'd be there way more often!
As awesome as it would be, my personal thought is it might be a hardware requirement. Adding so much more to a map that already stresses out the outdated generation consoles, it may just currently not be feasible to add dlcs to the main map, also, the rally expansion in my experience is horribly optimized, it might just be me though
@@murderergod6645 I mean it's probably not rendered or if it's even rendered it would be very low detail when you are far away wouldn't hurt that much tbh even zelda totk on switch can handle rendering low res version of the surface map while having underground sky and temple maps and a switch is much weaker than a xbone or ps4. Fh5 does it itself having a low res version of the main map under hot wheels map. If you say the examples I gave aren't racing games NFS MW2012 had dlc map extension to the normal map and that was runing on xbox 360 and ps3 so they have no excuse.
I have set my home at the rally adventure map. Its so much better to drive than the main map, where 250mph feels slow and boring. The rally adventure map has hands down the best roads in a horizon game, maybe Fh1's canyon roads come close.
@@mikeallan7740 Weirdly, they wouldn't. We had these things over a decade ago, and no one complained. People don't complain over good game design, they complain over bad game design. You're perhaps right in saying if they're not going to be upset over FOMO, they'd be upset by something else (because there's always something else to be upset with when it comes to modern gaming), but saying they're going to be upset by a lack of FOMO is just bizarre.
FH5 feels like a rose you picked from your garden. It smells nice , looks great, you're happy its grown to something as lovely as beautiful as it is, but after a while you can feel its thorns digging into your hand. I feel like sometimes you have to let go for a couple minutes in order to appreciate its beauty, or else your gonna only remember its thorns, and not the red of the petals. Its not perfect, i think some of the circuits arent the best, the city leaves much to be desired for racing, and i like some of the roads in other games better (road coming from Surfers Paradise to the shipwreck or the 12 Great Apostles (beach, cave and tarmac) my beloved), but it cant be denied that basically everything here is amazing. TL:DR, game good me like
I hope the developers watch this video series because there's good aspects in each game which when combined could create for an amazing overall package. So thank you! Had FH5's map been better and had there not been so many technical glitches even well over 2 years into the game's life cycle (the servers in Europe haven't worked for the past 2 months as I'm writing this), I'd say this could have been best in the series. I also really, really wish that the devs take a hard good look at car balance in FH6 because it's such an important aspect of online races.
you know, this was really a sobering series of videos to watch. ive spent a lot of time since getting into forza around fm4 and horizon 1 complaining about issues with each successive game and watching you go systematically through all of them and pay special attention to all the little joys found therein really helped recenter myself. i don't think there's a single forza horizon game i don't have at least a few truly special memories with. thank you for reminding me to reminisce a little
Actually refreshing to hear some positive points about FH5 it really doesn’t deserve all the hate. People really just complain so much because they don’t like the Map but as you pointed out the roads on the map are what really matter. Event lab is also a reason why the map is not too big of an issue.
I think the main issue for a lot of the players that dislike 5 is the apparent lack of content from previous iterations that should have been in the game on release. You shouldn't build a franchise (Forza Horizon in this case) and remove mechanics/content from previous games with each new release. 5 should be the culmination of everything from the previous 4 games with development post release being improvements/minor bug fixes and the focus being new additions. Forza 6 should be all of that plus 5's additions in a new updated and improved game. This is far from what Forza fans received, and is an issue not exclusive to Forza or the racing genre.
The roads in FH5 are also very wide and not really that entertaining, the Needle climb is imo much better anyway than the volcano. And complaining? As people should, we shouldn't just accept laziness. The map in FH5 is such a downgrade, so is any kind of progression, it just shoves cars at your face every second. The game was so buggy for half a year with zero effort to fix it. I could go on and on. The scope problem of a video that's trying to justify a game as being the best is that it obviously ignores the flaws.
Only problem I have is the map is literal dogshit. At least it ain’t FH3/4 bad. Those maps were horrendously bad lmao. I curious if we’re getting a “new” expansion, because I guarantee you FH6 isn’t coming 2025 because of GTA 6. No one will be playing FH6. It’ll be suicide for a company to release a game around the same time or shortly after GTA 6. Technically we did a get a 3rd expansion with the EL island several updates ago…but I’m talking a paid one…hmm. A city expansion would be cool honestly.
Hands down, I still listen to sunrise to this day and glad it's on UA-cam and SoundCloud, because the Spotify version is definitely not the version we all want
No matter how much you can built in eventlab you could never replicate the experience of driving on an actual map built by the devs themselves. It's a great sidegig but that's it. And it's not substutute for a great map design. If the map was solid eventlab would be that extra bit of cream on top, but that's not the case.
Seriously. People act like EventLab is the greatest thing ever. It’s a fun GIMMICK, and nothing more. Even the best EventLab maps still look like low poly sh•t. It’s honestly disgusting how far gaming has come and yet these people still justify FH5 with some “bUt EVeNtLaB” BS. Lmfao… “tHeY aDdEd PaRkInG gArAgEs tO EVeNtLaB!¡1” Yeah they coulda removed ExcuseLab all together and just built a map that had life and soul, cities, parking garages, etc… and then I wouldn’t have to go spawn into a mini map with low poly obviously fake roads and fake grass and fake dirt just to drive into a specific type of structure.
I actually like Forza Horizon 5. I can't count how many hours i've been on this game (i'm currently approaching 2000 hours) since it's release. I'm never tired of it, i'm still tuning my favorites cars. I'm currently building Rally cars trying to improve myself.
@@gr4mas144 I played FH3 but at the end of the game on PC so there weren't any people there. I'm the solo guy not too much multiplayer. Never played FH2 since i'm on PC.
@@emarbeats6896 FH4 was my second but first where i grinded with the community. Came back to it a few months ago but i'm more acustomed to the FH5 physics and tunes.
99% of what I see wrong in this game comes down to 2 things: 1) the map: bad map design and bad props, repetitive scenery and trees and no real seasons, no hotspot to meet 2) the new multiplayer system where people just appear and disappear out of nowhere
oh and maybe the engine swaps 2JZ swap was rare asf in fh4 for example, now 50% of the cars I see in multiplayer are 2JZ or V12 swapped shitboxes with antilag
@@moneywisdomlifei just feel like Horizon XS is weard because it doesnt feel lore accurate (I mean with that the loading screen descriptions of fh2 that it was said that only the rudest will be nominated for the speaker of XS, fh5 doesnt give that feeling, fh4 instead still does), its not like i dont like it like that but it feels just weard
@@moneywisdomlife it really is a love hate relationship, its kind of like how a lot of your most disliked games are the ones with the most time spent on it; all that time playing the game made you uncover all of its flaws despite you still liking the game. this is at least how i view it, as i have 350+ hours on the game and despite all that i still say it really isnt that good of a game. The atmosphere, the characters, the terrible foilage LODs and horrifically stumped progression turned what was an arcade street racer with sim like physics to a sandbox game with sim like physics. My main issue with the game is that its becoming more like assetto corsa and beamng, leaving the content for players to create while they make the base gameplay enjoyable enough without adding much features. Progression specifically really ruined my enjoyment of the game. Every new car is just another one thrown in the landfill of a car collection and every month forcing players to log on to get cars that they may never unlock again encouraging FOMO. Yet I still play the game every now and then, so whose to say its really that bad of a game? Still hoping FH6 addresses much of the concerns I have of course.
Best handling, best car list, best camera, best race options, best upgrade options and Event lab are enough reasons to put it on top of every arcade/simcade racer ever made.
Wish it had a better city because the city in h5 feel more like a big town than a city maybe I'm spoiled by seeing a city with skyscrapers and having that missing make the city in h5 feel less like a city
I like FH5 but I wish FH5 had more urban areas to drive around in. Guanajuato is underwhelming imo. So much distant & wide open views in this game. A decently sized city with beautifully lit high rise buildings off in the distance would have been a vibe like in FH3 and there should have been more variety in the environmental landscape by the middle part of the map. It tends to feel very "same-ish."
I don't know but could it be that a decently sized city etc somewhere on the map would demand much more of the hardware the game runs on making everything else a lot slower?
@@yaldenskigaming5371 That is Exactly what would happen, at least on One and One S. Surfers Paradise in FH3 absolutely Nosedives in terms of Frame Rate in Surfers on One and One S (Systems which FH5 still has to support) its down to below 10FPS in that Part of the Map! Below 10! I thought I had seen the last of Frame Lag like that when the N64 went out of Production... seems I was wrong. Given that, according to the Official Forums, FH5 is apparently also struggling to hold a Stable 30FPS on the One and One S systems even as it is (note, I am running a Series X Personally), a Big Modern City would not be a good Idea. Even One X struggles to hold a Locked 30 in Surfers and Judders here and there, a Locked 30 Really does need one of the "Series" Systems, 60+ being Exclusive to the PC Version. It is because of the Skyscrapers and their Vertices, the Data Code Skeletal Mesh that holds the Textures in Place and stops them Warping and Swimming like an Old 3DFX Voodoo or PS1 Era Game, the Skyscrapers need a lot of Vertices to stop the Textures from Swimming and these are Calculated on the CPU, which of course, is very Slow indeed on the "One" Series Consoles, even One X, the fastest, is only Running 2.4GHZ per Core, and can only use Three of its Cores for Gaming. Compare that to 3.8 GHZ per Core on all Eight Cores with Series X (thats faster than some "Mid-Range" PC's!).... so the Vertices Hammer the CPU, Causing a Load Spike which Lags the Game and Sinks the Frame Rate! The Old One/S that the Game still has to support just have not got the Processor Power needed to do a Modern City without Slamming the Frame Rate, at least in the City Area. Better to wait for FH6 for a City IMO as that will not need to support the One/S/X and will be Purely for Series S/X and PC, meaning it will be able to Handle a Pretty Sizable Modern City and still hold, dependent on Mode Selected (Say 30FPS 1440P with Ray Tracing or 60FPS 1080P No Ray Tracing on Series S, and 30FPS 4K with Ray Tracing or 60FPS 4K with No Ray Tracing on Series X, with 4K, 60 *and* Ray Tracing being Possible on PC so long as the Players Hardware is up to the Task!) a Locked 30/60 FPS.
@@yaldenskigaming5371 they managed to do it with FH3 and to an extent FH4's Edinburgh. They could probably do it again and strike a balance between performance and visual fidelity. Anyway, hopefully the next game would have a good urban area for variety's sake. like 50/50 or 60/40 rural to urban city ratio
I’m enjoying all of the Horizon’s. I’m currently playing FH5, FH3, and FH2 for Xbox 360. I didn’t play my first Horizon until 4 years ago. I’m hooked now.
Wrong, it has an unmatched physics engine, an unmatched car upgrade system, an unmatched car roster and unmatched graphics along with being better optimised than it's competitors.
Forza Horizon has the potential of becoming the greatest car and racing game ever. However, singleplayer has been neglected to a point where someone who does not have a nice community or likes online racing and just wants to have fun by themselves does not have a lot tailored to them. Singleplayer is important, one cannot rely only upon the community to create their own fun, specially in a full price game.
The problem with the map is that it has been designed with the eliminator game mode in mind. All the cool and unique stuff are in the far edges of the map, and the middle is just open landscapes you can easily blast trough with no thought.
Still think the biggest issue FH4 and FH5 suffer from is it putting you online all the time. what made the old games especially magical was people went online to meet other people while 4 and 5 everones doing their own thing and sure the Creator in FH5 is amazing but the creations are sandboxed away so you already need friends to really enjoy them I think they should be put into the main map for a week to bring people together. Do remember when FH4 released loads of people would swarm together to do the Forzathons but in FH5 its so dead I question if people even know about it anymore I somewhat think it was the overly simplification of themmenus because I even forget where the Forzathin shop even is if there even is anything good in there.
I'm extremely interested to see how the popular perception to FH5 will be once we're halfway through FH6. I love all the games in the series but FH5 is the one I've spent the most time in and the one where I've been involved the most with the community. Irrespective of game quality the memories and experiences I've had with the game and the community are worth way more than the price I paid for it back in 2021. Also bit of a cameo from me in the car meet and racing (although it's the race where I missed 3 Checkpoints xD). I'm in similar boat with my favourite game in the series, currently it's FH5 though just due to all my friends being here :)
I agreed with almost everything you said in that video. My only real criticism is just what you said about the roads and map, while yeah the rally DLC, jungle, and mountain have some amazing roads and elevation I still think that the city let's fh5 down. It genuinely just feels like they forgot about needing a city up until 2 months before launch, because the roads don't flow, building have some of the worst hitboxes I've ever seen, plaza cathedral and bola exist and there's no way a person at pgg made them at thought they where anything but pain. And when you compare guanajuato to Edinburgh, Edinburgh has way better roads, track design and felt way more alive than guanajuato.
I'm hoping FH6 takes place in Japan. Wouldn't that make a lot of sense? Japan has cool cities, fun music, a vibrant car culture, mountain switchbacks, and beautiful countryside. Can't wait to see where they go next
I think your channel really shows what fh5 is good at. All the community driven aspects are really really great. Honestly I loved the dlcs. I find myself driving around in the rally adventure map a lot cause it’s pretty fun. I feel like people just listen to content creators and don’t take a moment to think for themselves
my personal experience with forza is similar to a lot of people's current minecraft experience. 1-3 times a year i have a sudden feel to play the game for about a month and then drop it until the next time
Stellar Video and Series. Love your content, following since FH4 cause that was my first ever Forza. Felt like I found my long lost love for cars & DRIFTING. I definitely think Plaground games achieved their goal of making Gamers -> Car Enthusiast & Vice Versa. Your videos on Car tuning really helped me understand the phsycis and hooked me in further. Always love your vibe in streams, you truly are one of the OG creators for FH, I hope you are getting paid one way or another by Plaground Games, especially for this love letter videos. Thank you for all that you do Hoki
You know I used to hate FH5. Pre ordered it because I have been playing the horizon series since 2, and when it initially dropped it was a buggy mess. I still pushed through and 100% it within the first week. After that all I stayed around for was the FOMO and to play with friends. Once my friends stopped playing, I quit because the FOMO was not fun to keep up with. That said looking back on my 1,000 hours it has been fun. I still think the map is the most dull in the horizon series with only certain hot spots that are good. However, I keep thinking about how good the handling plus the visuals are. I just hope they take everything good with this game and continue to improve upon it! (also please get better at detecting/removing cheaters on the leaderboards)
This was my first Horizon game, coming from mostly NFS. I loved the handling and the music, and I couldn't believe how much content I got for the money. I now better understand the frustrations of long-time Horizon players who started with earlier titles. But for me, FH5 is one of my all-time favorite games, and I'll always have a soft spot for it.
Meh. Everything it does, it does reasonably well... just like you say. I agree with all your point honestly. But there's just something missing. A hole in the center of it all. Dunno. I keep coming back because the handling is fantastic, but I also visit all the other titles nearly as much in the past year.
The one thing I think I miss from FH4 is the map. Mexico is big for sure, with some nice areas, but it feels... rather monotonous at times at least visually. Compare that to the city streets in FH4, the moutain pass that felt like a proper mountain pass, the frozen lake etc. Each game's maps have distinct areas and biomes, but you feel more like you're in entirely different places on FH4 when you travel between the areas, whereas in FH5 you can see the other biome in the distance, and it just feels like next door. Yes agreed the roads are better in 5, but the atmosphere matters a lot to me personally at least. I much prefer FH5 in many aspects, the sound, car lists and more. But it could do with a new map to keep it fresh.
Each game is good in there own way and I never get bored of this game and I even jump on every now and then and take a nice cruise and enjoy the scenery and I even jump off-road and explore the places that players may not go to very often and I have made a lot of friends on this game since release
Moving on from FH4 to FH5 was tough but Horizon 5 has turned out to be a great game! The possibilities for building cars and Event Labs seem endless! I can’t wait to see what’s to come. Awesome video, keep up the good work! 🤙
There are maybe 3-4 games that do it better, and dozens upon dozens that do it worse...so yeah, undoubtedly one of the better design systems out there.
Awesome video. I agree. Have been racing since early 90's and this is the most fun I've had in a car game. I also enjoy Hot Wheels, a little silly but fun for a change. The new build blocks that have been introduced looks very promising. I assume the eventlab tracks will continue to evolve, it ia, like you said criminally underrated.
I have been a gamer since the late 1970's and getting to experience the evolution of where we are now is amazing. Absolutely, too many people do not appreciate just how good FH5 is for a non-simulator game. Some of the dynamics of the game are getting really close to simulator spec, while retaining that arcade-like feel many people enjoy. To be honest, the game is a win-win, all the way around.
Tbh, I don't think I'm loosing anything by not playing the previous Forza games, and 5 may not be perfect, but I think it's a good choice for a first Forza
The reason I love FH5 so much is the roads, I love just selecting my favorite car, putting on some music and cruising around around, Doing hill climbs for hours on end, seeing how fast I can tune a car, doing drag racing, drifting, taking photos, rally racing. I haven't really played with Eventlab much because I don't have the patience to actually build a racetrack. Playing infection, king and flag rush with random people. Designing cool Liveries and customizing cars.
I agree - it's an amazing game. It's my favourite game ever, I think. But, more than that, I love this positivity. We spend so much time talking about what we don't like and I think videos like these, where we celebrate things that we like even though they are not perfect, are very much needed.
The only community that I miss that is not in any way thriving in what we now know as Horizon Arcade. I still return on an almost daily basis to compete in Forzathon Live events, and they are still fun, and there is still loads of players in the events. I miss that so much in Horizon 5. But thats really the only thing I miss. I love almost every other aspect of Horizon 5 thoroughly. I just hope PG isn't trying to kill off that cool little minigames feature and has plans to either update it or revamp it in the next game.
How good the Rally map is is something that doesn’t get mentioned nearly enough. As many have said - if it was attached to the main map its profile would likely be so much greater.
Going from FH4 to FH5 my biggest gripe is the lackluster map and lack of ways to play custom events without inviting people to a convoy. There used to be those custom player events that had a notification on the bottom left of the screen, but that feature was scrapped in FH5.
The only thing i remember of FH5 is, the epic failed launch, it was a social game, but it kept failing connections. I play FH4, because i love the random map events and everyone actually trying to get the events finished. Its why FH5 fails for me, it was focused according to the devs to be more social than 4, and it feels like FH4 delivered there with forzaton. I have had so much fun with random people i did not know and drove for hours with doing all the challenges Every time i load FH5 (multiple months between), i stand waiting often alone or with 1 other person to do these social challenges. To me, and that must be me, it feels like a lie when i see the amount of players that "allegedly" play. I really hope that FH6 will deliver on the in game map (not expansions) social random gathering again instead of a external "event lab" or "rival" feature, and actually has a working ride with friends (without random disconnects or disappearances) It is what hooked me to horizon, the fun with random people i do not know, instead of always riding with the same people.
I loved FH5, it's the first game I was able to play at launch, and I sunk about 500 hours into it, mostly in the first 6 months. The only major issue I had was the limited-time car availability, which makes it so completionists (like myself) have to get on each week and grind through some challenges to get the cars I want. This can be fun and fulfilling, but it also makes the game feel like a chore. I gave up playing FH5 after my game data corrupted and I lost a ton of progress (millions of credits, dozens of exclusive cars, and story, map and collectible progress). I was never able to fix it, even with microsoft support, and itt sucked the fun out of the game so much that I haven't even wanted to come back to try the rally DLC. Great world, car selection, customization, music, yet it was all ruined by a major bug that I, nor microsoft was able to fix.
I'm a PS GT player, definitely casual, and I bought an XBox X to play Forza Motorsport -- I got the bundle w FH5 and FH4. I haven't tapped FH4 yet, and I know it'll be great when I do ... Fact is, I've spent faaaaaar more time playing, and enjoying, FH5 than I expected. It caught me completely by surprise. (I do still like FM ... but the sheer amount of things-to-do and *fun* of FH5 means I've put much more time in there.)
FH5 is my first real driving/racing game outside of games that have driving in them like GTA5 and Cyberpunk. 500+ hours in and I'm still having a blast. It also cannot be understated how good the monthly updates have been compared to other live service games out there right now. I planned to move to something like Assetto Corsa or WRC 10 once I finally got bored with FH5, but that hasn't happened yet. Having not really played or looked at the previous installments my insight might be a little biased, but prior to picking up this game I had ZERO interest in racing games at all.
i think we will become nostalgic from that intro song... might sound boring at first and "not what i usually listen to" but its such a well made theme and i think we will remember it for a very long time, just like fh4
If you did this a year into Forza Horizon 5 then it would be a totally different story. They turned it around, had some great expansions, and started listening to the community more
thats also part of the reason I have grown to quite dislike FH5. the period of time covered by the games highest tier edition, the one many bought because it was assumed it would act as the ultimate edition of old games, was completely dead, and only after they cast them aside did they really start adding desirable cars and packs.
I can agree with this but FH5 still feels like it missing things like new game modes, car features that make your own car unique, why is good half the map just dirt and they added it more dirt roads with the dlc and sometimes just not adding new competitive race events. Idk FH5 is just a mix bag for me but it does do most things right
One reason why I love fh5 is because it is such as calm game. When I have nothing else to play I love to just pull this up, pick a nice car and chill drive across the map. fh5 might have it's flaws but it truly excels in some aspects.
I hate this quote, mainly because it makes no sense, but also because it's just not true. There have been games which have successfully catered to as many different audiences as it could, and still succeeded extremely well. This quote was just sprouted by certain Arrowhead devs as some cutesy way of dismissing any criticism they get for their mishandling of the game.
@@Perseus7567 I’d say it’s a very good and accurate quote. Fh5 is trying to be so good at everything it ends up being short and everything. Take ac for example, it’s amazing at sim racing, but if you try to play free roam in it, you can but it’s just pretty bad. Games should focus on doing one thing very well rather than trying to do everything good and just not really doing anything that good. A better example could be the crew, it tries to be a racing and flying sandbox for everyone, if you want planes, boats, cars, bikes, etc, it is a game for everyone but then if you really play it it’s a game for no one as it’s just bad at pretty much everything it does
its pretty good, but the abuse of bugs/cheats in all kind of zones is tragic. In fh4 i used to set high scores in driftzones. Sometimes i got top 100, sometimes top 50 and in all driftzones i was at least top 1000. But now in fh5 even in fh4 its all gone... And they even fucked up the driftzones by patching down the amount of points u can get. So its a solid 7/10 for me cause of this
Yep, the leaderboards being full of hacked times makes them way less useful and takes away so much motivation to fight for better scores/times. One of the biggest bummers in the game for sure. They did spend quite a few months trying to clean them up, but it just never really panned out.
FH5 easily has the best driving dynamics/physics and feel, as well as graphics. Only thing I can’t stand about the game is Mexico being an ugly and boring map (especially as a road/circuit race fan). There was an excess catering to off-road not just in the base game but with dlc as well and i feel like that’s a very small portion of the actual playerbase/community. Also very tired of cycling between Lego and hot wheels every game. I don’t even really count them as expansions to the game because if you don’t like/enjoy hot wheels courses and Legos, there is literally nothing for you. Also even tho the car count has gone up, the variety seems to have gone down. There are endless special editions and versions of super niche hyper cars or brands but most normal brands that enthusiasts actually own only have a few models. We have lost a lot of “normal” cars that people actually own and want to make in game (that also used to be in older games) to get more obscure brands and variants of models that most people have never heard of or care about. Also hard locking nearly every post launch car behind very short timed events is AWFUL for people who don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to gaming. There are a bunch of cool new cars I would like to build in the game but will never be able to because I wasn’t able to play the week they were earnable and will never be in the auction house. I really hope the next game addresses the issue of car availability/accessability and has at least a more visually appealing base map with better road and circuit races.
I think the best thing about FH5 to me is the improved viability of RWD/FWD in competitive racing. The old meta was just AWD swaps or powerduilds. Now if they'd just buff the stock engines.
Still number 4 for me. While the map is smaller I feel it was better designed. The Mexico map feels like a lot of pointless space at times and the seasons aren't very interesting. I think the game has lost something since Ralph Fulton got promoted and isn't directly responsible for Horizon anymore. The game lacks the spark of his input.
Exactly. You dont feel the "Horizon" vibe that FH1/2/3 gave to you. You also have 0 motivation to continue the game, there is no history mode, there is no Darius or a festival to improve (FH3). I hope they hear this, because its not an unknown thing
Quite literally, the only thing I can fault FH5 on is the map. The map does have some good parts where it excels. Mainly the Horizon Festival test track, the mountain roads on both sides, the canyon route which never gets old, and the tight streets of Guanajuato which make you feel like you're driving on the Monaco Street Circuit. But other than that, its very lackluster and empty. Everything else in FH5 is great, and it's a solid game overall, which I still spend a lot of time in. You can't say that it is a bad game.
I honestly can say for myself that all the Forza Horizon games are incredible. I started late with the Horizon 2. I stumbled on it by accident and loved it.
Mostly I don't like watching vids that longer than 7-8 minutes But I saw one of your old videos talking about the upgrade parts guide and you definitely a guy worth to watch. And when I saw this clip of yours still long though have a good words lastly I liked the last clip you created @21:31 Thank you for your hard work and efforts sharing it with us. Still don't like watching longer vids ;) Update: I remembered you mentioned other competition racing regarding like Grand Turismo Games and one other new game that just not been released yet and you played the Demo. What was the name of the game plz? something runner!!? hmmm. I think I will replay the whole video to catch the name of the upcoming new Racing game though I really hate long vids. I am Sorry...wish you the best to get it somehow someday. GOD Speed
the fact that they removed the close lobby system is super bad for content creators, too. Back in FH4 people could use the whole map to create a closed lobby and play cops vs. robbers. Now they desync when they are too far apart from each other.
I do think FH5 is objectively the best game in the series with the only major weak point for me being the map, HOWEVER FH3 is still my favorite. I just spent all day yesterday playing that title and Australia still slaps!
This could have been way better. I was there since the "3 day earlier" moment and it was disappointing. I love the graphics, but they even dont fix the SSAO horrible shadows bug since DAY ONE, I remember having to restart the game like 10 times because it magically crashed on the "welcome" menu, the first one with the song, also the first seasons were horrible, with tons of recycled content and the most boring map of the Horizon saga. Long text. Is good to be positive, but also criticism is. They have a lot of things to improve and bring back from older games. I loved FH4 with how unique each season was and even if I "hated" the snow in MP, it was a fantastic experience. The storms in Fortune Island left me impressed and I went there for HOURS just to drive because I liked how it looks. Almost every update brought us 3 new cars, even after the 2020 pandemic problem. Also the ranked MP was amazing, I had great and intese moments with rewarding podiums/victories. I loved FH3 with the most unique and diverse map ever, the vibes around there and being able to make the festival grow was cool and a good point to keep playing until the end. The introduction of auctions was pretty great too and I loved to catch some great deals whenever I got there. The first ever HotWheels DLC also did a big step ahead from any other DLC, it was just pure fun. FH2 and FH1 atmosphere was just... Horizon. A festival were you can go with the most expensiva cars, the vibe of partying and REALLY earning an awesome car and drive it in the coasts of Castelleto was an experience that I have never get in any other Horizon, while going into the FH1 festival and battling Darius is another things that I miss. FH5 is not the best game, but if you like its ok. They didnt bring ANYTHING new, even on the DLCs. If you put all that "new content" on FH4, you will not even feel like it was a FH4.2, just an update to the car sounds and the "internal" modifications because PG didnt even care to improve external mods for any car. Graphics are awesome, but still, not big improvement (yeah, nothing to improve there tbh), but, to my taste, it looks kinda plastified vs. even older games like FH2. I suffered the same experience in FM8 or whatever you call it. Then you have bugs that are still there since day one/previous FH games, you have hackers (they dont even bother to put a good anticheat, instead they delete times and tried to ban people for using the roulette glitch, BUT OF COURSE HACKERS ARE OK, they even nerfed the roulettes because of hackers and, again, hackers are okay. The game is broken? No way!), there is no progression or history mode, they gift you 500 cars and thats it, you can end the game there, while in FH1/FH3 you at least have a motivation to progress. And thats FH5, just FH4 with a new (monotonous) map, less things on launch day (like the whole FH4 car list, no MP ranked mode that is not even here today) and, oh, dont forget, a lot more DLCs with interesting cars that the community asked for a long time, but of course! We will give you an unknown chinese wagon instead, thats what you like, right? Also not included on the Ultimate Edition!
This game is special to me. It helped me battle thru my dark times when it came out back in 2021. It has flaws like any game but I still cherish it and enjoy it for what it is. In the end that is all that matters really.
There's definitely a lot of lower quality stuff to sift through which I think gives it a bit of a bad rep for people who don't look too far into it, but once you know where to look and what creators to follow, there's near endless great content to play. Join the "Forza Creator's Guild" Discord if you're interested in finding some better event labs!
Omitting HOW CRINGE HOW LAME the story mode is... it fucks up the pacing, the fomo horizon play list, even for 20 PTS ITS A C H O R E everything, EVERYTHING was wrong there. appart from that best map, best routes, best gameplay, best physics, best custom content (evenlab), best graphics by far. WELP. its like the core designers, audio, lighting is a very strong team asset while the others, writers, online comminty content are complete nutjobs. (the ONLY cool part is the car feature every week on festival playlist, you can feel the motosport lore there..)
I still appreciate this game for the amount of post launch updates and the beautiful variety of cars we get, I feel if they improved the map upon launch and fix the progression system it would be perfect.
Funny one month later Horizon 4 has over 3 times the amount of players Horizon 5 has, and this is obviously because of the delisting, so yeah, player count only means that more people play it. It is good when it makes the difference between an active or inactive multiplayer mode, which is currently affecting The Crew MF, but in this case in means nothing.
I've always admired the forza games and have fell in love with how MUCH content it features im going to check out the event lab 2.0 maybe create my own track event and also drive on some of other people's creations too 😊
Watching your series has solidified my decision that this one is the worst. I think its the world for me, i remember all the other maps fondly because of landmarks and the mexico lacks that and feels so empty and lacks a strong soundtrack that makes you want to just drive around

The map is literally the big thing holding fh5 back man. GIVE IT A CITY
Agreed, FH5 with a more densely populated & alive map would be massive
5 is damn good, but it's not quite _special._
Forza Horizon 1's brilliance is in the immaterial - the kinds of things you can't just quantify.
@@mitchell-wallisforce7859it’s just like FH4, except in Mexico.

Horizon 1 is a great game with a distinctive atmosphere but let's get real, it's mostly a NFS clone with an unoriginal "rookie climbs the ranks and defeats douchebag champion" storyline.
Technically, it is the best, but the game feels like checklist:the game rather than having a compelling reason to finish everything
Instead of being a game with a lot of content, FH5 is just a lot of content without an actual game.
And because some of the content is very good, and can be used to have lots of fun, people confuse using the content to make their own fun, with playing a good game
I can’t wait till FH6 comes out, and people will hate on that and claim FH5 is a hidden gem and overhated

@@AlexUnder355 idk 5 i think is the worse for me
The Mexico map is fairly bland compared to UK and Australia, however, the most important thing that FH5 does the best is the car handling.
A minute of loading screen *prevents* you from playing it? Horizon fan base in a nutshell.
For FH6 please remove the timed FOMO system, add a good career mode / progression system and a more interesting map.
Even if they did all that, you'd still moan about it.
They added backstage in 5 so you don't have to worry about fomo anymore
@@mikeallan7740This guy probably wouldn't, but other people might because of other things. That's typically how that works
TL:DR, game good me like
Dude no game is every perfect
@@MrJonas7At least FH5 ran lmao.

Lmfao… “tHeY aDdEd PaRkInG gArAgEs tO EVeNtLaB!¡1”
Yeah they coulda removed ExcuseLab all together and just built a map that had life and soul, cities, parking garages, etc… and then I wouldn’t have to go spawn into a mini map with low poly obviously fake roads and fake grass and fake dirt just to drive into a specific type of structure.

the issue with fh5 is that it does so many things right while getting so many things wrong
99% of what I see wrong in this game comes down to 2 things:
1) the map: bad map design and bad props, repetitive scenery and trees and no real seasons, no hotspot to meet
2) the new multiplayer system where people just appear and disappear out of nowhere
oh and maybe the engine swaps
2JZ swap was rare asf in fh4 for example, now 50% of the cars I see in multiplayer are 2JZ or V12 swapped shitboxes with antilag
I feel like it gets the more important things wrong, especially the atmosphere of the game

Best upgrades for performance, definitely not cosmetic wise.

Totally valid & I agree! Surfer's Paradise is easily my favorite Horizon city too
I don't know but could it be that a decently sized city etc somewhere on the map would demand much more of the hardware the game runs on making everything else a lot slower?
I’m enjoying all of the Horizon’s. I’m currently playing FH5, FH3, and FH2 for Xbox 360. I didn’t play my first Horizon until 4 years ago. I’m hooked now.
"Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes is better than a master of one" is the full quote, which I think definitely fits FH5

Only started in 4 but absolutely love eventlab
And we all love that you share your work with us! 😄
Loved the little thing you did when you said "the friends we made along the way" and all these cars pass by Grand Tour style.
The only thing I miss from 4 is team racing. I play this game with my friends/family and I don't want to be limited to racing against AI with them.
When Horizon 6 comes out FH5 will be the "forgotten masterpiece"
I said this before 5 even launched and you know it's gonna happen lol
Someone should make a video now about how this comment is the greatest CAP 🧢.

(also please get better at detecting/removing cheaters on the leaderboards)
amazing series, loved it. I'm into FH3 and 5 at the moment, great games
"One of the better painting and livery tools out there." I'm sorry, what?
Designing cool Liveries and customizing cars.
map is shit
Great series! It's been a lot of fun seeing the different perspectives on each game
Its not terrible
Just repetitive
Alot
Needs a reboot for fh6
A real grind at beginning maybe license test
Dope finish. I love knowing that the last scene was recorded last week. But it all came together.
FH5 is the one that brought me back to racing games. I've been having a blast since the first day I played it.
I have had so much fun with random people i did not know and drove for hours with doing all the challenges
Every time i load FH5 (multiple months between), i stand waiting often alone or with 1 other person to do these social challenges.
To me, and that must be me, it feels like a lie when i see the amount of players that "allegedly" play.
I really hope that FH6 will deliver on the in game map (not expansions) social random gathering again instead of a external "event lab" or "rival" feature, and actually has a working ride with friends (without random disconnects or disappearances)
It is what hooked me to horizon, the fun with random people i do not know, instead of always riding with the same people.
forza horizon 5 rally adventure is truly peak horizon
yeah because the map feels like a empty desert
Stop the cap... Forza Horizon 5 is amazing sure if u neva, neva experience or play Forza Horizon 4...
FH2 did actually have car sounds that changed depending on exhaust, but, to give credit to fh5, it definitely was not as pronounced or marketed
The horizon games are a godsend. Just play the modern NFS titles and you'll appreciate everything FH does right.
Exactly dude! I've played a few NFS games and they are all shit. Forza Horizon 5 is the best when it comes for racing!
Unironically, FH5 is the favorite of mine. Only issue is that the map is big. And that's about it.
lmao, I knew that positive Steam review looked familiar, and it's because it's mine
Yes it is XD
i think we will become nostalgic from that intro song... might sound boring at first and "not what i usually listen to" but its such a well made theme and i think we will remember it for a very long time, just like fh4
Mario Andretti - "If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough"
Where's the stream clip of the game crashing when you said it was stable :Kapp:
LOL
the gameplay is fine but the characters you run into through the story missions are some of the worst i have seen in any game
I legit muted the game audio so i dont hear them speak.
11:50 "A game for all is a game for none'
Horizon Backstage is a solution.
I think the best thing about FH5 to me is the improved viability of RWD/FWD in competitive racing. The old meta was just AWD swaps or powerduilds. Now if they'd just buff the stock engines.
I was able to auction snipe the 1970 Dodge superb
Been waiting for this! I know it'll be a banger :)
99% English 1% Spanish, they should've just gone all in one or the other for the dialogue. Definitely the most corporate feeling Horizon by far.
A big map isn't necessarily good anyway. The freeroam lobbies feel dead on 5 because everyone is so far apart.
Just because it's the one with the most content doesn't mean it's the one with the most rounded experience Hoki
This was a great series, and i loved every second of it.
Still don't like watching longer vids ;)
Update: I remembered you mentioned other competition racing regarding like Grand Turismo Games and one other new game that just not been released yet and you played the Demo. What was the name of the game plz? something runner!!? hmmm. I think I will replay the whole video to catch the name of the upcoming new Racing game though I really hate long vids. I am Sorry...wish you the best to get it somehow someday. GOD Speed
Night Runners Prologue
I'm late, I know it
@@juanito_ Thank you
My perfect Horizon so far would be FH3 with 5 handling and quality of life improvements.
Fh2 map and progression with FH5 graphics, customization, cars and eventlab
the fact that they removed the close lobby system is super bad for content creators, too.
In the end that is all that matters really.
ill be honest, i never really played the event lab stuff but seeing you show them jsut now they looked really good
There's definitely a lot of lower quality stuff to sift through which I think gives it a bit of a bad rep for people who don't look too far into it, but once you know where to look and what creators to follow, there's near endless great content to play.
Hell yeah. I'm fully on board with the idea, every episode has its charm.
Hitting the dislike for disliking the game does not make any sense to me. Your content quality should determine a like or dislike 🤷♂️
I know this isnt what the series is intended to do, but if you had to compare FH5 on launch. Most of these qualities would be null.
Best roads, best radio stations, best dlc's. Anyone complaining about this game came to troll no matter what.
Jack of all trades, master of none, though often better than master of one.
Here I am. Just got it for 50% off and still at work so Im watching videos about the game to get hyped for when I get back home ...
I've always admired the forza games and have fell in love with how MUCH content it features im going to check out the event lab 2.0 maybe create my own track event and also drive on some of other people's creations too 😊
Still giving it to fh1...ill die on this hill to defend it
@@FH4Player6397 explain
Watching your series has solidified my decision that this one is the worst. I think its the world for me, i remember all the other maps fondly because of landmarks and the mexico lacks that and feels so empty and lacks a strong soundtrack that makes you want to just drive around
Im movie over to Xbox series s from being a playstation gamer since 7 years old I'm excited for this new transition and I've got fh5 installing as we speak and Forza Motorsport too🎉❤
Well said the best Forza Horizon “Is the Friends we made along the way” 👍🏾
horizon 5 is my first horizon. I dont know about the old ones but...its one of the best game i have ever played. I enjoy it so much.
FH5 has the superior content and physics, but on the worst map of all of FH. It is so bland and boring. Eventlab saved FH5
Fr it seems as flat as the event lab island
