This is probably as close as I'll ever get to posting the kids dancing to a Beatles song - Paul McCartney composed, British Invasion group, 1964...so close. I've actually tried posting this clip a couple of times years ago and YT's unfeeling, song detecting software, living in a world without love, blocked it - probably because it's a "Lennon-McCartney" song. No idea why it's unblocked now but enjoy.
This is Peter & Gordon's 3rd straight Top 20 hit. Today, "I Don't Want To See You Again" is at #24 on the Hot 100 and will peak at #16 in 2 weeks. This song was also featured on a Rate-A-Record last month scoring 85 by all 3 raters. I have the clip, but the dancing was better here - imo.
You can see a quick shot of Famous Hooks dancing to Ace Cannon at 2:29.
This is the 8th episode of the show after it was rebranded as "The New American Bandstand 1965" (New ab ‘65 for short) For this season, the old Philadelphia studio set was finally changed to this new design, despite the show being in Hollywood for 7 months.
...And if you're in the mood for more British Invasion, tomorrow night, on CBS, a group called "The Rolling Stones" will make their first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show". Unlike the well-dressed Beatles back in February, the Stones, especially Mick Jagger, dressed far more casually. A show manager said "We were deluged with mail protesting the untidy appearance". The uptight audience just couldn’t get no satisfaction.
Thank you for watching…I DO want to see you again :)

When I tell my grandchildren I learned how to dance from Pat moliterri and Carmen Jimenez, on AB, they make fun of the dances. I'm 77 I can't remember sh--- but I remember my favorite dancers. Hope they're still with us. Anyway, what do kids know? Peace and Love

I don't recall my parents getting upset over The Stones appearance on Ed Sullivan. Maybe they were hipper than the 1964 average viewer!

With all the nonsense in today’s music industry it’s crazy to think how people back then went to pieces over Jagger wearing a sweatshirt on T.V., lol. Sounds like your parents were indeed more hip than most at the time @mystery-ed 😎

Indeed Paul's relationship with Peter's sister sure did help launch his career. In some ways too bad Paul didn't stay with Peter's sister.

The Jerk, The Mashed Potato, The Twist, The Swim...we kids tried to emulate all the moves that the AB dancers showcased each weekday in Philly, then after the show's move to California. They were THE BEST!

Hey Aaron! Never thought this was a song you could do The Jerk to, but the kids really worked it out & it made sense! Lol. And the eclectic taste Dick had for music really shows here with that Ace Cannon track. He really tried to play every type of music on the show.
And man has TV come a long way! To think that The Rolling Stones' Ed Sullivan appearance caused a bit of noise just for not looking clean cut. Makes me wonder how that same crowd would've acted towards Madonna's MTV performance with the wedding dress on. And to this day, I STILL don't understand the controversy over that performance. Maybe I was always forward thinking. Lol
Anyway, great clip, glad it got past the UA-cam police... for now! Lol Be well my friend!

@Thruth. I wasn't aware of the RS physical appearance controversy. But at least they were willing to change the lyric of one of their songs, in order to make it more Family Friendly. 😊
