His accent makes the line sound like, "for there's a God," but it is really "for there's a GUARD and there's a sad old Padre (priest) on and on we'll walk at daybreak, again I'll touch the green, green grass of home".
Tom Jones is one of the greatest singers in history . He has a very deep voice , and a unique performance . I love his songs especially ( I who have nothing ) . Thanks dude for your great reaction
Not many understand the lyrics that he is a prisoner on death row . When he wakes the morning of his execution at daybreak he realized he was only dreaming of the early days of home with his sweet Mary. Sad song. I am obsessed with Tom Jones vocals, looks and charisma. He is a judge on “The Voice UK” 81 years old now and still sounds exactly the same ♥️
The lyrics in the spoken part are hard to make out, but they go like this: Then I awake and look around me At four grey walls that surround me And I realize, yes, I was only dreaming. For there's a guard, and there's a sad old padre Arm in arm we'll walk at daybreak Again, I'll touch the green, green grass of home. In other words, he's on death row, and dreaming about his home the night before his execution.
This song was about a dream, in prison he had the night before his execution. He is buried in the shade of that old oak tree, "neath the green, green grass of home". Sad song, but one of TJ's best, I recon... Good reaction. Thanks!
This song is about a man who's dreaming about his past but wakes up and realises he's in a prison cell the same night that he's going to be executed in prison ,then he's buried under the green green grass of home next to that old oak tree
Awesome reaction to Mr Tom Jones. Yeah, born and raised here in VA. I've left this home state a lot of times but I seem to wonder right back. Love to you and have a blessed holiday. ✌️❤️
I enjoyed your reaction because it seemed authentic. I'm not sure what kind of music you grew up listening to but I feel a good song will always be a good song. I'll watch for your reactions and see how you do. So far so good.
@@DasmaniaXDReacts I'll check them out my friend. An honest reaction isn't ever wrong. You feel what you feel. The thing I've noticed about our people doing the same, they all think every song is top of the line awesome. Nobody likes every song. Maybe go with a scale 1 to 10. A really good you if you think it is, would go 10. Now someone that sends you a tune to check out, without hurting any feelings, go with a 4 or 5 even 6. But they can't all be 10's. Even the ones I like aren't all 10's, ya know what I mean?
The subject of the song is a condemned man getting executed in the morning, he was dreaming of home, and knows the next time he is home will be his burial, "under the green green grass" of home
I think it's the word "Padre" that trips these kids up. For us older folks, it's obvious the dude is getting hung, but the kids just don't get it. The same goes for "He Stopped Loving Her Today" (same songwriter). The young folks d simply don't grasp the significance of "a wreath upon his door"
Thank you for the recommendations I am so sorry that youtube did not notify me of your comment but i will definitely check these out sometime soon i have just been dealing with some personal matters as my car sadly got wrecked because of black ice so i have been having to deal with that
Hi, Did you know in the Green Green grass of Home he gets put to death for killing Delilah (Another one of his songs). Stay safe from Covid-19 to you and your loved ones.
Please react to Sir Tom Jones singing I'LL NEVER FALL IN LOVE AGAIN live in 1967: ua-cam.com/video/sdDVMCbG0FM/v-deo.html And again live in his 80's with the author's son Peter Donegan: ua-cam.com/video/ySopatr6AoE/v-deo.html Sir Tom will be 83 in June 2023 and has not lost any of his amazing voice!!! He has a full touring schedule starting in April 2023!

Thank you for watching :D
Hey he was big right through the nineties too.
People in Australia loved him
Thats pretty awesome he was very talented :D
Love Tom Jones. He's 81 now.
You actually listened to the song. Your the first one to get what is happening ❤️
I could see it your eyes the second you realized it was an execution and then his funeral. Good tune, I've always liked that one.
He should have stayed with sweet Mary, instead of going to the big city and hooking up with that horrible, Delilah woman.

wow that is Deep thank you for letting me know that :D
Wayne M. You put that very well. Short but complete. I don't think that a young generation would know that much about the execution process.

This is the best version of this song.this is Tom's song.
Nice one Mate
Great reaction ❤️
Thank you so much :)
He's getting off the train in a casket, brother.
Many have recorded this song but this song belongs to Tom no one sings it like tom

Those four gray walls he sings he woke up and they surround him. He was in prison
More to the point, he was going to be executed...
Hes on death row oh no
Well , he killed Delilah , now its time to pay the price , an eye for an eye.
Not homesick, I'm glad I'm not getting executed like Tom is about to.
