Thanks for the demo. With the extra care, and cost, of the locking version; I think I'd consider going with a cable lock around the spare.

I totally agree. I didn’t realize that was a thing until I received it. If that lock gets stuck then I won’t have access to spare tire anymore. Everything else about it is awesome and well thought out.

I have a Storyteller on the Transit and follow you for things you post on the Ford. My Aluminess tire mount has a round center piece. I've messaged them to get the rectangular version. I'm planning a trip to AK and the NWT (Tuktoyaktuk). Fuel stops are few and far between. Thanks for your informative videos.

That’s an awesome sounding trip. Hopefully they can swap it out. Rotopax does make a mounting plate. I might order one because it should span the bike rack distance that was included with this van. Wixom MI has 3 storytellers available. I might go there after eclipse to check out. All are Sprinters though.

Definitely take care of the lock handle, those locking mounts are notorious for seizing up and not working. Good video!

That’s the plan. Didn’t realize the locks were problematic when I bought it. Might just avoid lock all together or use a cable.

@@jtbrv23 ya but if you take the lock out when not in use your probably good. I’m thinking of getting a black Rotopax for water, and use the water in the summer for outdoor shower.

@wesrc yeah, pretty smart. The side by side mounting plate might span the bike rack. Give two more spaces for the larger rotopax. Although I guess weight then becomes a factor.

I sometimes go to National Park, where there are no electrical facilities, so I need a generator when I run out of RV main battery .
But, I`m worried because I don`t have a place to put the generator in the RV..!!

Yeah. If I take my generator it has to go in a hitch mounted cargo carrier.

Very interesting custom made for aluminess tire rack auxiliary gas can attachment device. I don't know how you find these things?
I do have a technical question that you may or may not be aware of so here goes. I noticed what seemed like abnormal energy consumption
of the battery life and could not account for it. I checked that my inverter was in the off position on the lower screen and it was BUT I also
checked the inverter itself and it was on? So it appears that when you slide to the off position on the lower screen you simply cannot use
your microwave or air conditioner BUT your inverter is still on consuming battery power? Now if I shut off both the screen slide switch AND
the actual shut off switch on the inverter I am no longer wasting battery power. Could you please comment on this I would appreciate it. Thank you!

The tire rack gas can credit goes to Aluminess. They had the forethought to make that wedge fit a rotopax so kudos to them. Now the energy thing. I have noticed this before. It is evening now and so I went outside and ran the numbers. With inverter on, I draw about 2-3ah. When I switch it off on the touchscreen it drops to about 0.8 to 1ah. Nothing is lit up on inverter at this point and it appears and sounds off. If I hit the physical switch to off then the amps drops to 0-0.3ah. So I’m experiencing a similar scenario. If I’m for sure not going to charge van or run anything off inverter, I leave the physical switch off. If there is any chance I might charge van, then I make sure the physical switch is on. The inverter also participates in charging from A/C power. I think of it like a computer and how it asks if you want to do standby (instant on) or shut down. This way I know if I connect to shore power, it should instantly accept the charge safely and hopefully not have an issue.

This all came to my attention when they changed out my Rv Master control pad and I was not seeing any benefit from the solar controller so
