Nice informative vid. But,,why didn't you clip the existing wires coming of the board and attach (solder) them together away from the board. It seems to me that way would be less tricky. Also, why aren't your new battery's already charged? I don't think they will charge up once the unit is installed.Or do you charge them some other way.
@@BLOCKsignallingUK thanks so much for that. I wonder if my mechanic can swap the sounder for a lamp or other innocuous device that will happily draw a bit of current. Ah well, the joys of old Volvo ownership. Onto the next problem of failed blower/fan 😢
@@richfletcher3275 The car wants to be able to talk to the alarm over the LIN bus, so you cannot just replace the whole alarm with a lamp or similar to show some current draw.
@@BLOCKsignallingUK agree, but I was hoping to replace the siren component only, so the alarm would still send a signal to the “siren” but the siren would, in this case, be a lamp, or similar.

The connector on the board was corroded, so it made sense to solder to the pads of the connector.
I wonder if you could tell me; if I cut the wires to the sounder, would that trip the alarm/immobiliser?
I can only say "possibly", as I cut the wires on mine, and shortly after it displayed "ALARM SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED" on the dash.

I see. The piezo sounder is a high impedance device, so you could probably use a 100k resistor. Worth a try.
What is the battery`s specs?
where is this on a c30 ?
Sorry I don't have a C30 so don't know.
