- Great song by a singer called Guy Darrell. I can't find much about him, only that to say that there is some connection to the band Deep Feeling according to the website Discogs. Also, apparently this song was played at the famous Wigan Casino. This copy appears to be from the re-issue in 1973 on the Santa Ponsa label distributed via Pye records.
Played it when I wus 16 getting ready for a night on the town the good old days❤just turned 60 where's that time gone
Takes me back to my childhood, my dad loved this song and his northern soul collection, amazing tune
Classic Northern song, many people turned their noses up at it,always filled the floors
Anthony the people who turned their noses up at it, were not on the Northern Scene very early 70's this was a Stonker of a tune, Leeds Central , VA-Va's , Catacombs etc as it was part of the playlist then.
I wouldn’t be on the floor.
Just found it after nearly 50 years one of the first 45 single I ever bought, so many memories ❤️❤️❤️
This song never gets old...👍😎
Great song sung by a great singer..!
Origanal done by the Tams
the whole work force used to sing along to this great days
played on Radio 2 UK last weekhad completely forgotten this. It's a great song and the sound is so "full"
Absolutely love this record ❤
Rest in peace, Dave ,(Bass) Derek, (Hammond Organ) John (Guy Darrel) Vocals) Graham (Drums) Martin (Guitar)” Deep Feeling “ : “Red Socks” The Green Man , Leytonstone, 1969 to 1978 probably the best live pub band ever. Their covers of “Yes” “Led Zeppelin “ and “Beach Boys “ among many others was terrific, the place was packed to the rafters every weekend 👌🎼🎸👍🏿
I used to go to The Green Man in Leytonstone and remember Deep Feeling really well!
@@glynisroberts5029 Hi Glynis , great memories, brilliant time for me and my girlfriend and love of my life’s name was Glynis👍❤️🌹xx

A Petőfi 2 től 6 ig Kivansagmusorabol ismertem meg 1973 bán. Valamelyik hallgató szerette volna magnora venni. Azóta nem hallottam sehol. Boltban ezt is hiába kerestem
Class superb ❤
The 1973 re-issue was included on a compilation album (probably K-tel) that was often played during my childhood in the 70s!
It was K-Tel, the album was called 20 power hits!
Just like many failed 60's songs they reappeared in the 70's as part of the Northern soul scene, great tunes!
I knew him well. He died a short while ago in Spain, and I shall be going to his funeral on Monday. RIP John.
Abnother 60's classic!

He lived in my home town of Gravesend.
guy was the lead singer in a band called red sox they were the regular bandin a public house called the green man in leytonstone east london in the 70sthey even have a record out tht got them on top of the pops the record if you can find it was called down by the river you could search for it either as guy darrel or redsox guy came from gravesend at tht time seeing him live was a great experiance they could sing anything we went to that pub to see them every friday for years and it was great time in our lives
Guy Darrell and Red Sox also performed regularly at Flanagan's Tower, Walthamstow in 1974, when I was a barman there for a while. It was quite a surprise when I saw him appear on TOTP. RIP John.
Was originally with a band called The Midnighters.
I think Guy Darrell (Johnny Swale) was a Pub Licensee at The Wheatsheaf in Swanscombe Kent
He recorded 'Go Home Girl' on Oriole label with The Midnighters in the early sixties
Really sorry to hear this. RIP.
Brilliant

Played at The Green Man, Leytonstone in the 1970s.
I was there. Usually missed the last 148 bus and had to walk home. Great memories.
@@DavidSelley49 We used to go up there - team handed - in a pre-war Wolseley 14. Cheers, les.
@@lesreed9269 Such luxury - with rear hinged "suicide doors". Happy days.
@@DavidSelley49 We used to go about eight-handed - six in the back, no problem!
I was a regular there, seeing him with the band “Deep Feeling”. Great band and he was a great singer.
They just don't make them like this anymore.
Nederland heartaches on Duchten top 40
Heaven
Sounds like a big beat Tune. Something Dave Clark 5 would have done. So it's a win tune for my ear.
First time around was 1966 on cbs records copy of a hit by the tams.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
took my girlfriend to the green man about 74 guy had been on top of the pops dont think the pub is there still living in adelaide now

No sé si está es la canción original, pensaba era de The Rondells,me gustaba mucho.En España hubo 2 covers muy buenos de los grupos Los Z-66 y Albert Band
This is very familiar, but not sure if I've heard it by someone else.
Green Man, Leytonstone !!
I remember, used to go there in mid 70s, happy memories!
Casino GHOSTS........
Dave Fisher, rip.
I know this song but it is by Bill Deal and the Rhondells.
whoa! Yep, I've always thought it was original by them
The song was written by Ray Whitley who released it as the first record on the Dunhill label in May '65. The Tams then released this song around October '65, reviewed in Cash Box 23 October, produced by Joe South. Also, it seems that Bill Deal's follow up to this song was another Tams/Ray Whitley penned record, What Kind Of Fool Do You Think I Am. Ray Whitley was involved in writing the biggest hits for The Tams.
My x hated it with a passion,hence why she's my x 🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣
Bill Deal and the Rhondels cover in '69 is much better
Tue vido
I bought this 45 and sat on it and snapped it (fuckin gutted )
