I love this aspect of the movie. We've all had friends who talk a big game like Pea, and you don't know if they can back it up until the time comes. Pea backs it up.

No. Jody spends the entire movie in a state of self-reflection of who he is, where he comes from, and where he's going. A good chunk of the movie also talks about cycles. The music is sad because he realizes, watching this kid get beat, that he's continuing the cycle that plagues his life and fills him with fear.
At least you said "some". This is real life, putting hands on another person has consequences. Not every young person is a wannabe. Not all young people are disrespectful. And not every elder likes to acknowledge that young people are the future. Anybody can be a hater. People need to mutually respect each other as human beings.
