BABY BOY is the powerful urban drama directed by John Singleton (Shaft and Boyz N the Hood) starring rap music superstars TYRESE GIBSON and SNOOP DOGG (Half Baked, I Got the Hook Up). With knockout performances from VING RHAMES (Mission: Impossible II, Pulp Fiction, Con Air) and A.J. Johnson (Friday House Party, The Players Club), BABY BOY is a tough, honest and unflinching look at modern urban life. Jody (Gibson) is a 20-year-old African American in South Central L.A. who is trying to live large but doesn't have a job. He's got two babies by two different women and still lives at home with his mother (Johnson). Growing up is tough on Jody, but a series of events involving his mother's new boyfriend Melvin (Rhames), his girlfriend Yvette (Taraji P. Henson) and her ex-con ex-boyfriend Rodney (Snoop Dogg), force him to learn lessons about living, loving and surviving as a man in the hood.
It was a lot of good acting in that scene. All three of them really shined.
Agreed.
Idk. I saw at least 2 acting in their typical, type cast way, nothing gripping or riveting

When she says "Please Jody you ain't got no money" and "go in the house" ...that's classic because it's like in real life when someone is having a blissful special moment and they break for just a second to remind you they're still cognizant enough to check your ass.
😂😂😂
Yep. She said that "Go In the house" with ultimate attitude.

I like how Jodie was very subtlety trying to check Melvin with the whole "where you from" question, and Melvin didn't skip a beat, Inglewood, 101st, in the Hoovers section. Even as an OG with 2 strikes he still held his own like a real respectable gangster, "the hoovers....yeahh." just the way Melvin looked off into the distance and saw flashbacks of the work he put in back in the day.
Ving Rhames a black all star.
He didn't said he's from Inglewood. He said he live in Inglewood which means he's currently living there, but he grew up on 101st & Vermont which is on the WestSide of South Central. That's Hoover Crip territory no doubt. He moved to Inglewood.

And let her know that he'll be there for her if she needs him. He's supposed to be with his baby mama taking care of HER.
@@kawasakiwhiptwo5821 From alot of comments apprently Jody was being hindered by his mother when his brother died cause she wanted a man in the house to take care of her/ Validate her until she found a "better man" to take care of her.
Look at how she asked him " How she looked" and she got upset when he really didnt entertain it. Thats why she goes after " Thugs" because they are " tough" and can take care of her. Its hard to grow out of a mindset when someone keeps you in that. @@balthorpayne I agree. In hindsight I couldn't even imagine Pac in this role.
Really Pac died

@@caramelbilquees Pac died in 96. Movies are like Music in a lot of ways. Just because a song is released at a certain time doesn’t always mean it wasn’t already written or planned years prior. Some of DMX’s albums from 1998-2001 got lyrics that he’s been rapping since the early 90s in freestyles and cyphers/battles. John Singleton probably wrote the script for Baby Boy in the 90s but when Pac passed away he probably just had to wait until the next actor had a chance to come up, and it just so happens that 2001 was Tyrese’s year.
