Thank you so much man!! I never leave comments on videos but this one well deserves one! I've been messing about with different coil builds, wraps, gauges etc. Etc. I stumbled across your video, did thos build, tossed it on my drop RDA and the flavor, the vapor.......a million times better than I would have expected from a kanthal build. Thanks so much!!!!
To this day it's still one of my favorite style builds and it's easy!
nice video, gonna try this today. been doing simple 5 wrap 24g kanthal builds for 2 years now I'm ready to start playing with other builds
Thanks for posting this great tip - made me happy, very happy.
that was amazing when you twisted that wire.
HHB is my fav e-juice!!!! Love this build with it too.
just finished this build. great flavor and cloud production👍👍thanks for doing the video.
no sweat, glad you liked it. sorry, never got around to part 2 and i just haven't found the time to do more videos in quite awhile.
+AllDayVape no problem👍
awesome build! can't wait to build one..
This build is awesome man, keep it up!
Mystery Thanks bro. Will do!
I just made these after checking out this video. It was super easy and they vape great, thank you for making the video. I am using 24 gauge nichrome 80 with 8 wraps. It ohm's out at 1.5 ohms. I am vaping it at 115 watts. Perfect. Not hot but warm and tons of flavor.
Awesome, glad they worked out for you!
You mean 0.15 ohms, right?
Great simple tutorial! Thanks!!
+Geoff Bernard Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
i just started building , i did like 4 standard straight kanthal build. in the past weeks flavor was ok. but when i tried this method ... Oh my god !!! flavor tasted like never before !!! Thanks for this tutorial it really helped me get what i want ! huge thumbs up
S K is it better than staggered fused clapton?
i haven't tried staggered fused clapton yet so i dont know. I've tried fused clapton and yes this twisted coil is better waaay better actually
Awesome! Glad it gave you another method to use. I'm a big dual fused clapton fan, but this is a much faster build.
i did this build with 24 gauge kanthol with 6 wraps and got .47 ohm,s absolutly delicious!
Awesome, glad you like it!
Michael Szeles ..... yes... me too
great video. I've been building about a year & love to do twists but have never noticed any difference in flavor (enhanced or more crisp) like most claim but I notice when I do a twist getting that beautiful uniform twist like you have is where I screw up. sometimes I'll twist until it's as tight as about a guitar string. which I think is too much probably but i also twist until it breaks. BUT when I twist I will start slow with the drill & usually slow down, even stop to check how it looks cuz I'm afraid it'll kink up. then i speed up again until it breaks. another problem I have is after putting the ends of the wire in the Chuck, when I hold the other end with pliers there is ALWAYS some slack on one side of the wire. like if I do the same as in the vid with one piece of wire bent, one side will pull together (no slack) with the pliers but the other side of wire is not but has slack. i m guessing one or both of these issues is why my twists, are not as uniform. they work when installed but I usually have problems with keeping a steady ohm rating. the coils ohms jump in other words. I'm gonna keep practicing with it, just not sure how to keep the whole wire tight with no slack before using the drill to twist.
Came for twisted kanthal build. Stayed for buku. Big ups
Cool coil with cool tee :)
See so many tutorials of this where they put an allen key into the drill and use that to twist the wire, completely unnecessary, glad to see someone who has the right idea!
+Alex Serafini Common sense makes sense :D
+AllDayVape used your method, perfect the first time, thanks for the video!
Funny. I just made one today and it was my first build, so it wasn't the greatest. Needless to say, my entire house is smoky lol. The flavor is great and it really works. My regulated box tells me it's 0.16ohms in dual. Six wraps. Cheers, neighbor.
great video keep them coming! subbed!
Thanks, glad you liked it. And thanks for the sub!
Allthough the video is kinda old by now, I want to thank you! I've never tried twisted coils before, mainly cause I don't have any working drills atm (and tbh I was kind of sceptical and scared of trying too). Was using simple 24 gauge kanthal builds, like 2 / 4 coil ones (usually 2x 6 wraps on 2.5mm). This video kind of encouraged me and you also made most of the calculations needed, so I could make that build on 2.5mm instead, getting to around 0.19 ohm going on bypass. Plus, that was exactly the wire I had, so I was like "why not to try". Hell, the difference is so big, I feel like blowing clouds again! Funny thing is I actually twisted it w/o the drill, was close to making holes in my fingers, but I got it to be tight enough somehow and I guess it'll be easier now, cause I found a nice way to twist it with a screwdriver instead.
You're welcome, glad you were able to work it out!
You can also use a pen and pliers to twist your wire ! Just put the wire loop around the end of the pen you use to clip on your pocket and hold the other end with the pliers then twist the pen
Michael Szeles Yeah that's what I did. Wondering how much time will it take to get a clapton this way tho, might just have to buy a drill anyway.
IMO regular 28 G kanthal tastes better.
so I am about to attempt to build my first set of coils. I have 24 gauge kanthal and I am wanting to build something simple that gets good flavor but doesn't burn your throat because I don't like a hot vape. Any suggestions on what I should build and how many wraps I should do and what size drill bit. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
times had changed your twisted wire got a long way man.
hi All Day VAPE..may i just ask how much WATTS you rock this coil with?thanks..BTW nice vid especially for beginner builder like me
good vid mate
thanks homie
Awesome video man, I built this coil and it vapes really nice. Please get yourself a pair of clear safety glasses on especially when spinning wire in a drill. It's fine 99.9% of the time until that one time something goes wrong. Please don't think I'm being critical your video was awesome. Just speaking from 30+ years power tool usage.
Great tutorial. Looking forward to part 2. I'm just learning to do 24 G twisted myself. Built a single coil just to try it out. Came out to about .3 with 5 wraps. Flavor and vapor is amazing though. Gonna try dual next. Looks like in the picture you ended up with about 7 wraps for dual could to get .3 is that right?
+alanalso Thanks. Might have time to actually get part 2 done soon. Twisted is actually very easy when you don't want to spend a bunch of time making your coils. The next step for me was moving to claptons. I have been building them for a few weeks now and the flavor is even BETTER than twisted builds. I think I did 6 wraps in the video, but the number of wraps may vary depending on the diameter of your coils and how tight you are making them.
Simple for beginners, like me. Thanks.😎
no problemo, glad it's still helping people out!
+AllDayVape It did help. Really improved the flavor on my rda. 😎
AllDayVape
To make even better coils just wrap 28g wire around the grooves. Use the same drill method but hold spool of thin wire at 90 degrees of twisted wire.
Did you ever make a part 2? I personally don't mind seeing how the entire build goes, including terminating the coils and wicking, I like it.
Mine also came out to .2 around a 3mm screw driver
+Steven Kutniewski you know, i never did. i'll have to do that this week :D
+AllDayVape Still no part 2? :P
If you use two coils instead of one does it eat up more flavour or the same ?
is there any video how to do this for a joyetech AIO?
Thanks bro ♥
What's your thoughts on the "hive" coil? I picked up 10 pre made hive coils, 0.5 a coil for around £2.50, I'll be using it in the reux rta when I get the tank and the cotton for it next week, hyped as fuck lol
lulz.....
its true, for the simplicity of making these twisted builds, they really do put out vapor
Yep, very simple build for a little more flavor and clouds
I've seen the exact same ohm meter online for about 4€, are they any good ? Or should i go for the 11€ ones ?
tryna find part 2 dawg hook it up
a plus build
Would using Stainless Steel make any difference? I Have 24g 216L.... trying to get some flavour out of the Griffin 25, flavours been muted with claptons.
IMO, using SS give slightly better flavor. You may get some metalic-like taste at first, but that disappears rather quickly with break-up. Twisting SS (I use 26ga) will lower resistance a bit. Give it a try if you haven't already. You'll probably like it.
how many watts for twisted coil?
all day , great video I built my first coil off this video
+Chris Stephens Thanks, glad it helped!
What is the diameter of coil? 2.5mm?
did it just a minute ago, with 24g Kanthal and 2,5 drill, its around 0,3 omhs.
2.5* 0.3*
+Chris Kringle some countries use "," instead of decimals
+Noah Lawhead Which ones.
Chris Kringle Well Germany for starters
+Noah Lawhead Alright go on
I just built this and tried them individually on my ohm reader and they came to .31 and .3 ohms, put them on my postless Limitless RDTA deck and my vape read them at .18 ohms. What did I do wrong?
nothing. his math was WAY off. its suoopsed to come out that low.
When youre doing dual coilsthe total resistande is HALF of ONE of the coils. so for this example half of .3 is 1.5(Resistance readings varry by mod)
#GGMU thanks for tutorial.. i get learn about coil.. thx..
What ohm did u get?
What wattage you use?
I thought you said 5 wraps, but I seen 6? Juss did a 5 wrap and about to put it on my rx200 and didn't want the ohms below .1..juss a newbie question
you don't count the first wrap it's only half a wrap.
All kind of twisted, clapton etc just makes the taste "sharper" and that's not "better" in anyway. Plus, these coils gunks up like crazy
invader mini mod with sapor rda first time making this coil. made a dual coil .16 Ω haha I'm happy with its
+James Davis That's with 24g wire?
Yeah. And I wrapped it on a 5/64" screwdriver
I also just made a coil with 24g kanthal just like this but made it 4 wires and running single coil and its .11Ω
+James Davis Ah, the smaller diameter wrap and increased gauge w/ the 4 wires makes sense. Both will reduce the resistance.
Yeah. And it chucks like a champ
does this work with just RDA? Tried it on the billow 2 and the popping and spit back was terrible.
+Henry Choo No it's not specific to a dripper. Try moving the coils lower in your tank if possible to reduce spitback.
+AllDayVape Thanks for the tip and reply. will try it out. Appreciate it.
Spitback on twisted coils is a common issue. Try spacing out the wraps a bit. I've heard that helps a lot.
Any one ever coil up 24 off-road wire?
Sir, I'm using a Rx2/3 mod + RDTA limitless PLUS + Enook Battery 3600mah 35A 3.7V...
I'm also using a Tiger Demon Killer Wire 26GA+0.2*0.8
What is the perfect build for the coil ? Or how many wraps should I do, and what diameter of wraps ? for the perfect fire of 30-50Watts...
Because I have red that If you installed incorrect number of wraps or incorrect Resistance, it may damage your mod or battery that causes to explode?
I'm a beginner Vaper. I'm hoping for your positive response. Thank You !
I've been rebuilding for a few months now and am pretty confidant in my building skills right now as they are pretty consistent every time... But I just got a strand of twisted wire of what looks to be 28 gauge wire... I generally vape at a .22-.23ohm and not much higher than that because the lower the better for me... So is there a way I can get the ohms lower than the .3 that you have in this video or am I just stuck with whatever it comes out to??
you could go for a triple strand or do fewer wraps. the thicker the coil density, the lower the resistance.
Would using the twisted 28ga work well wrapped around a 24ga wire without dropping the ohms lower than the .2?? The only reason why I ask is because I want to be able to use it on my regulated box along with my mech... Just for more info on what I have, I would be running it on my MVP 3 PRO with my Mutation V4 and the mech is a Phantom mod.. I generally try an have one flavor build and a cloud chasing build with my other RDA
Since it's twisted and you'd be using 24g I would guess it will be lower. I can't even run 24g cores on my dual claptons because it's too low for my mod. I'm not familiar w/ any vape calcs that estimate twisted coil resistance, so I would just build one and see what it ohms out at, tbh.
AllDayVape I tried to build it yesterday and I failed HORRIBLY... It was a living mess and now I'm not sure if a twisted build will fit in the post holes.. But that just may have been from how badly I failed at building it... But I'll try a beginners clapton at some point instead of a dual 24ga core with the twisted outer... But I do thank you for your help it was greatly appreciated
i have a ipv d2 75watt with little boy rda, if i use 24g kanthal 5 wraps for a single coil what is the ohm of it? any help is appreciated!
Use steam engine for that kinda stuff bro, not UA-cam.
I'm serious, it'll tell you how many wraps you've got to do etc
I have never heard of it, I'll check it out thanks
+sl789s no worries, please buy an ohm meter as well if you're building your own coils.
They're cheap and it's much safer to build on them than on your device.
Yeah im just doing single coils, so im not pushing my mod/battery. i have a .55ohm on rn so its nothing ridiculous
My go to place: coiltoy.ermeso.com/
Song in the intro?
i've been doing loads of research on this drip atomizer thing whatever you wanna call it lol an your set up seems sweet think i should go for such a set up, just wanted to know what battries are you using?
+ady-B David Drippers are definitely the way to go imo, unless you need a tank for convenience. Re: the batteries, I actually use a few different brands. For a build like this, I like Samsung 30Qs or LG HE4s for a little longer battery life.
drippers are the future bro! lol theres no doubt in my mind that im going to get one... im just trying to educate myself with the ohms an wat battery specs work with what ohms even thou id like to keep the builds around 3 to 4 ohms... and then my problem is here in south africa we behind with these things... people started using the clearomizer and they still stuck on it... and lots of the places on ebay cant ship to south africa so i need to find a way around that as well
Check out pegasus vapor academy's channel for battery info. Really good series w/ testing results. Can't help ya with the shipping though.
much appreciated ADV i'll check it out asap
the awesome is I have the exact same set up. ipv3 and mutation x v4!
+ThomasOutdoors14 I hated that mx4. I finally got something to replace it that doesn't leak all the time. I do dig the ipv3li though
+AllDayVape no problems with mine yet. what did you switch to?
Nice. I think it was my wick placement that caused it most of the time. Just picked up a 13 hells clone a few days ago. Nice deep juice well :D
+AllDayVape
I use the mutation x4 sometimes. I installed the silicone plugs when out and about if I am going to be top dripping and just take them out and paint the wicks when at home if I really want to flavor chase. At least it has a bottom air flow option. With the plugs in, it's really just like any other tank vented atty and with more air flow than a lot of them.
how do you really build a coil? is it clockwise or counter?
Benedict Marquez doesn't rly matter as long as u do the wraps u want
Just because I'm new to this what's a good watt setting to run this bad boy at?
That depends on battery type, personal preference and density of the coil honestly. I can't give you a one size fits all answer.
Depends on a lot of things, like wire gauge, type of coil, material of the wire, personal taste, airflow, inner diameter etc
hey wats the ideal watt? i got 0.29ohm using kanthal24
+mr nice guy It's subjective. I like a cooler vape so I run a lower wattage, usually around 40-50 w/ this build and RDA. That's on a regulated mod though. If you're on an unregulated device, you just adjust the potentiometer to taste.
Just got to say, your T-shirt is excellent, well the team is,!!! best in the world, just got the 2nd best manager in the world onboard too, Si happy days for UTD,.
haha, yeah I dig futbol gear.
mine came out very springy so i had to torch them.
+Alex Greene They do sometimes, not a big deal. I just did some new ones that I had to adjust.
the second coil I said I made running it dual coil it ohmed out at 0.06Ω
Doesn't sound like a very bright idea
Mines came out too 0.17 Ohm
where is part 2?
lol, right?
He blew his face off... That's part 2, but UA-cam banned the video.
is he dead ?
@@nateclark5515 surely you're joking
@@freakbag420 😂 Yes, I'm joking.
Didn't realize their were so many gullible people out there.
Just tried this on my reuleaux with my twisted messes, tastes great?
!*
+deathwalker789 same rda same mod *cloud cheers*
i have a TM style clone that I just switched back to. big fan of that deck.
if I'm using the coil master kit what should I the use 35?
+Andrew Hill 1/8 inch is roughly 3mm so wrap it round the 3mm one, but dont use a coiling jig to wrap it, it wont work! use the 3mm bit and wrap around by hand, hope this helped you :)
+Billy c I've used the coil jig for twisted kanthal and it works just fine. I prefer wrapping it by hand, but the jig does a good job as well.
+Billy c I just wrapped 8 wraps of 22 gauge using the Revolver Coil Jig V2, and they are perfect.
+Richard Dube Word, glad it worked for ya
can i do this with 20 gauge
+Asher Nolin ahh a bit to thick
i tried this and made two beautiful coils that ohmed out to .29-.30 but for some reason it made my mod get hot as fuck...and took forever to heat up...like 5 seconds they would glow after i pressed the fire button
+John Smith Maybe it's shorting somewhere? That doesn't sound safe. They might have a short ramp up time, but they shouldn't be staying hot after you've stopped pressing the fire button. I'd give everything a good look over.
You may need higher amp batteries. They may be overloaded and it's causing them to get hot. Remember, look for the higher amp or amperage batteries not the higher mAh or milli-amps. Hope this helps.
single coil of course
How Many reps with 26 gauge?
can you do this with nichrome for a series box.
I twist two 26 gauge wires and using five wraps on a 2.5mm shaft I get a tad over .5 ohms (usually .55 or so). So if you use two coils you would cut that resistance in half to .25-.28 ohms.
5 wraps around 3mm screwdriver, getting about 0.09 ohm
check the wire for some lapses. try the fullwrap method to make higher resistance
+carlo vivo no bru im using a "super" wire which provides low res
well then that's why the ohms are lower. duh.
What is the mm of the drillbitt?
2.5
nvm
I know this video is old but I think you meant to say a 3/16 still but. Not a 3/8 drill bit. That’s HUGE!!! Lol.
How many watts you on for this build ?
+BeL0VeD eNeMy It's been quite awhile, but I think I was probably vaping between 30 and 50 watts with that mod and build.
ok thanks :)
What mod and Rda were you using?
+Zach Pennington iPV3Li and Mutation x4
+AllDayVape love my mutation v4 minus the leakage.
I've actually been vaping almost entirely on a Velocity clone for the past couple months. It's really easy to work w/ Claptons on it.
Theres always this weird burning taste that comes from the wire being close to each other its not coming from cotton. Dont like it but might be brand of wire. Lightning vapes is pretty cheap
Ive learned twisting SS 316L and Kanthal helps alot more with taste. With lightning vapes.
Love the flavor. Hate the little boiling juice bombs. Splitter splatter
+Jansen Braly Agreed, sometimes it does give a lot of spitback. Try setting the coils as low as you can in the RDA, that helps reduce it some.
Its a catch 22. I prefer a warmer vape and I found it cuts back after they gunk up a bit as well.
I find it spits a lot less than claptons.
it's probably me but I find the flavor to not be 100% and cotton dries out quick and causing dry hits despite my wick being dry hit proof (hitting at between 80-100 watts .2-.3 build gauges unknown)
Where's part two?
+Brian Clark Somewhere between 'ready to start' and 'I'm working on it' :D Just tough to find time in my schedule to get any new videos out
Hey it's all good man. Thanks for what you do.
Would this work with 20 gauge?
Andrew Hunter gonna be very low resistance and very hot if you do, could be dangerous
Sean Marogen okay, I can't find any builds for 20 gauge other than wrapping. Know of anything?
Andrew Hunter if I were you I'd get some 24-28 gauge I think you get better flavor. With 20 gauge it has a lower resistance so if you do any big builds it will be very low ohms. I use 22 gauge twisted and it is around .17
Alright, i'll try to find some. I got 20 because it's all that my local B&M had.
Andrew Hunter good luck man, keep doing research there is a lot of things I'm still learning as well
i don't have a drill
did you really just did 5 wraps? I'm reading .11 to .15 ohms on my coil calculator.
"coil calculator"
did you really just call an ohm meter a coil calculator
i know what an ohm reader looks like. what i mean is I'm using an app called the Vape Tool. and there's a coil calculator option there. you can use that whenever you don't have an access to an ohm reader.
Renz Jervis San Andres I wouldn't trust an app for that sort of thing.
An app can't tell you if you have a short or not.
i know. i said you can use it just for approximation. i didn't said that you can use it when you are actually building your coil.
Renz is correct i'm getting .15 off 5 wraps. quite a bit lower than this guide is saying and that is off a USA ohm meter.
Pride of the North?! That’s funny.
easier if you straighten the wire 1st
for some people, that may be true. I never found it necessary and you see how my coils looked.
Yes your coils looked fantastic. It is easier for me to straighten the wire 1st. It helps to keep the coil tighter. Less work after the build. For me that is.
3/8th drill bit! lol
+Justin leicht :D
+Justin leicht Right...
regular coil with spacing tastes better
Kubi11 CC is it really? If you compare it with staggered fused clapton which one tastes better?
Martin Mabulay im not big lover of claptons so idk
Martin Mabulay dual clapton on mech may be tastes better but ill never use mech :) better to use regulated mod and i love single coil option :-)
Martin Mabulay right now i have twisted 24ga kanthal single coil its reading 3.1 all it does earing battery and flavor isnt so good
Martin Mabulay .31ohm sorry
I built it and it came out to .19 ohms
that exactly what mine came to lol what watts you running that at
+Andrew Hill like 65
me too
same here, 3mm jig, 5 wraps, .18 ohms. Still, first time i've ever built this and it vapes pretty ok. tried it on my ohm reader and it said .3 exact so not sure whats going on.
SgtAwesome97 if the coils are. 0.3, on a two coil build it'll give 0.15 (the coil's resistance decided by two. On a 3 coil build, 0.1 etc.
i will give you idea how it's like 00:45 then you cut the video when you vape!!! WHY? something wrong?
Ok..I tried just one coil twice. Both times they glowed for a second and burned out.
You're not using nichrome wire on a regular mod are you? That's the only time I've ever seen a coil do that.
Nope 24 gauge kanthal.
never make videos without vape and show how its work
this is fucking hot i tried it tsk2 sad
r u american... if so then why have u got a man utd t shirt on. im from manchester so its good to see. lol
+MJ834204LIFE Lol yes I am, but I do dig the futbol shirts :D
AllDayVape " futbol " ???? Manny on the man 0161
ggmu
Dude that's not a 3/8ths drill bit. It may be a 3/16th drill bit..check yourself man.
this build also doesnt come out to .3
Head Banging Boogie- Free 60ml bottle, If you pay shipping. I fuking HATE it ! It tastes like some type of chemical. It tastes nothing like any popsicle I have ever had ! I wasted almost 30 on it.
cincinnatiking lol that's literally the best flavor I've tried imo
I mix my own juice now. I know what's in it. It's either Flavor Apprentice Blueberry Wild, or Blueberry Extra.
Everyone's saying they ohmed lower then him lol Maybe he's not the best at building. Or his rda has bad voltage drop
+ya8aweenaystrday I assure you I'm just fine at building coils. The wire diameter from twisting, wrap diameter, amount of torch, screwdriver/bit size, etc will certainly affect the resistance of your coil however.
So many variables at coil building. How would you expect everyone to match his? Did they do it exactly the same? I doubt it. Relax weeny eater.....
+Smokin Vaper Lol it's just funny how he made a coil build tutorial and literally everyone in the comments section says they got lower ohms then him. And my username is based off an inside joke from middle school xD I've had this account a long time.
+ya8aweenaystrday Lower ohms only matters if you're a cloud chasing nut. I prefer higher ohms (and by high I mean .3, haha) because my batteries drain quicker on lower ohm builds. Besides, building that low can be dangerous on a mech mod if you don't know what you're doing. Most of the common 18650 batteries have a 20 amp limit and pushing the max voltage into a very low ohm build can easily exceed 20 amps.
Yep he'll be dead by fifty
+Cueteepie uh why??
+Cueteepie ya why.
