Only the doode can make a round wire build amazing! Mad props to you man, you're my hands down favorite builder. Thanks so much for all the great tutorials, no one does it better than you!
Thanks matey, followed your tutorial to the letter and I'm well impressed with the results, super smooth, super shiny. So important to clean after every layer of sanding, you can see the debris coming off in the ultrasonic.. 👍👍👍, thanks squidoode
Love this technique, it's great fun and the results are beautiful. Props to Sarb for all his teachings and generosity with his time. Awesome video Doode, glad you brought this up. Nice hoodie by the way. Taxi.
The best tip i got from this video was using the hook and drill method to wrap the coil. Will definitely be wraping all my builds like this for now on! Thanks Doode!
I had no idea you could do this. So this was an eye opener to me. Kinda makes me want to get the Hannya with the glass top cap just to do a coil like this.
Awesome results! Seems like a very cool technique for those high-quality macro shots, even if it's not something I'd do everyday. Sometime I will have to try it and do a side-by-side performance comparison just for my own curiosity! (Now, you'll have to try taking it all the way up to a felt wheel with some jeweler's rouge!!! Hahaha!)
Atta boy, rockin that Coil Craft hoodie, Coil Heads represent! Sarb is an awesome guy and has helped me tremendously in CC, as have you bro with these awesome videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and techniques with us. See ya in CC, keep up the great work!
Pretty impressive !! Gonna pick up some sandpaper and give it a try. Will tag you and make reference to this video when I make one. Thanks for the tips !!
+Krankie V better wicking, doesn't gunk up as much etc ..... but yeah definitely not a great return on all your hard work. Just make new coils or burn them off, cottons not exactly expensive.
Kip Painter Some do. And you also get sponsors and stuff liek that. I have multiple sponsors and am associated with a paying advertisement company. You get paid to post.
OMG SQUIDOODE, YOU'RE LIKE THE GREATEST BUILDER EVA! I USED THE MIRROR FINISH ON MY BALLZACK AND THEY CREATED A SHEEN SO SILKY AND SOFT THAT MY WIFE FINALLY LICKED THEM! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOZ, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
+Josh Butler Love you too Butler… Remember when you use to build and you'd come over every Wednesday and we'd build together and drink our faces off… Yeah, should do that again!
props to you dude, I'm super OCD and put a lot of precision into my builds, but I can't see much benefit in the amount of time invested. To each his own I guess.
Man amazing work. Loving your tutorial videos and appreciate you taking the time to teach us guys that do enjoy building even though I'm terrible lol. But got to start somewhere. Cheers mate 🙏🏻🇬🇧🤘🏻
The ebay shop linked for sandpaper is great, and you get a whole lot of sandpaper. But if you're looking to experiment, Hobby Lobby and I'm sure other modeling/rc shops will have it - the pack I picked up is an "Ultra Fine Waterproof Finishing Kit" 8 Pack of 3.5" x 8" sheets of 320, 400, 600, 1000, 2000, 4000, 6000, and 12,000 grit papers. Picked up a pack for $9 locally. Thought I'd mention it if you're looking to experiment or try this out and dont need the super large packs that are linked.
The most important thing I took from this video is a new way to wrap my framed staple coils because its always a bitch too wrap with that ribbon wire inside, so now I cant use this tech everytime just to wrap even if iam not going to sand on some builds.... Thanks squid00de
yeah like framed staples or regular staples are a bitch, they always wanna twist and turn and that will ruin the whole coil..... so this tech has worked awesome for me
man i was watching more than videos and i was holding my self to say that... bro you carzyyy.. i mean it in good way though. thanks a lot for all what you doing and your videos.. you give so many idea to build.
with a little finesse pliers can be use to flatten the end of the wire rather than using a hammer. wet sanding is a method to keep things a tad bit cleaner, but for most users i would not suggest it if they are using a corded drill.
I did the same thing except I just rinsed it off for a second because I don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, it still tastes and vapes great! thanks for the tutorial bro. my girlfriend loves shiny stuff.
+The Art of Vaping I don't make these kind of coils, BUT.... watching, was just curious why doing all those 'cleaning' steps, but only at the end... wouldn't be enough? Seemed kind of like a waste of time to do them in between, when you're just gonna go sand them again. As I said, don't make these kind of coils, so idk... maybe it's a "duhhh" to me kinda thing, but even as a long time vaper, was my first thought watching. Pretty labor intensive, tho quite sure it's WELL worth it (well, of course it must be, otherwise ya wouldn't have even bothered. lol) ;) Live long(ER) & vape on! #ABillionLives
Very nice man. I've only found one other person that has a video on this coil...bit it was in German I believe. I've tried it with 22 gauge but the 20 shows the work alot better.
worth polishing your wire with some swivels before you wrap the coils ? guessing any effect on the flavour would be much better if the whole wire is polished including the inside where it contacts the wick
+ruspj Absolutely! If you are just doing this technique on a single piece of round wire then you could absolutely do that and quite honestly have a better end result. However, it would be difficult to really do that with say a piece of framed staple. I'm sure you could to a certain level but would have to be careful not to mess anything up or get uneven sanding.
To significantly reduce the dust from sanding simply wet the sand paper. You can also rinse it in between which removes a lot of the dust. It's called wet sanding.
Just a tip for the sandpaper. Go to your local auto body repair shop and by them by the sheet instead of by the pack. You save allot of money that way.
To save time with just basic round coils. What you can do is just polish it before wrapping It. And it will be easier to clean and it will have a polished surface inside too. So that way the whole coil is less likely to gunk up
Instead of polishing the wire, why not rough them to create more surface area? This is something I've been thinking about for a long time and would like to hear your thoughts. Great video.
+wonderdude32 It just creates excessive gunking. All those little grooves from the rough sanding get filled with gunk pretty fast and it doesn't really produce any noticeable difference anyway.
i agree... whoever thinks this polishing improves wicking is wasting thier time and knows nothing about physics. imagine splashing water on a sheet of glass, and a sheet of frosted glass. obviously the course imperfections of the frosted glass will cause more water to stick than the plain glass.
+wonderdude32 Poishsing it only makes for better pictures to post on instagram. But performance wise, you'd think polishing the INSIDE would have an effect of the way it wicks, since the wick and juice don't really contact the outside unless you drip right on it.
Fully agree. By polishing it you're actually getting rid of microscopic imperfections that helped aid in overall surface area. I think this is more a hobbyist approach than a scientific one though, so I still think it's cool.
Seems counter productive, wouldn't you want a rougher surface to the coil to provide nooks and crannies for the juice to sit in. Seems to me a mirror finish would make a slick surface for the juice to just slip off.
This is awesome to know. I've been learning a lot from ur vids man. I just wanna say thank you for taking the time out to post these videos. I'd love to see a vid from you on how to color bro.
I used to spend all kinds of time and make em as pretty as can be. Shy of a picture no one but me knew what was up. Over time I just lost the ability to invest that much time on builds. Now a days I'm just happy the damn thing resembles a coil lol I enjoyed it in the day, it was all sort of like treading on new ground or something or what can I do next as apposed to now were its looking for close to the same results with minimal effort and time invested.
+The Art of Vaping It's interesting to see how it's said differently. I suppose I say it more like 'mirra' because I don't live far from London, guvna!
I believe after you straighten the wire, leave it in the drill and then sand the WHOLE wire vice just the outside so it's more effective. Hell you can do that to 34ga and lower THEN build the coil completely for a more effective outcome. Might be a bit difficult with 36ga though.
Id really love to see a video on the monster tank V2 and 3, tips for installing big builds under the screws, chimney and standard coil, and wicking. I have one and am getting a decent vape but want some tips from the pros, the best i can find is Kayfun and standard build videos for it.
Awesome tutorial. To avoid less damage or risk of damage, I'd imagine that some nylon pliers and a small nylon jewelers mallet would come in handy. Question: Would you be able to just sand down the wire before wrapping it?? Maybe stick it in the drill and have the wire on a swivel like you would do a clapton, and just run the sandpaper on the wire??
+TheCoolStuffHD yeah I completely agree, I was getting a little aggressive with the hammer. As for your question, that method would work perfectly fine for single wires that are round. When you start doing this technique with more intricate wires that tend to be more square or rectangular shaped it may be difficult to get a consistent finish.
Polishing the outer surface of the coil does not give anything but hilarious appearance , but if the inner coil surface polished ,then the coil will last longer because less will be burnt to its surface.
Hey, big fan of your channel! I have a request: I'd love to see a ranking of your favorite coils, or a comparison of what you think is the pros/cons between them. Sometimes it gets confusing as to how much of the build is art versus effectiveness.
Why wouldn't you just polish 20 22 or 24 gauge before you wrap the coil? Does the wrapping do something to mess up the finish? I can see this being nearly impossible with smaller wire. Just anchor the free end of the wire on a swivel and polish it up before you wrap it. Seems like it would work, no?
+MrJmak642 I was thinking the same thing. Not the swivel part but now that you mention it it would be easier. Only thing would be getting finger prints on the finish when you wrap it.
+MrJmak642 So this process removes a lot of material so starting with 20ga or 22ga gives you more material to work with. I just used 20ga as an example. If you check out builders like @addictedtobuilding and others who "specialize" in this technique you will see you can really apply this to any type of wire just have to be using the appropriate sandpaper so it isn't too abrasive. As for using a swivel and polishing the wire up before hand, of course you can do that if you're working on a single piece of wire but with something like a fused clapton or more advance wires which are more flat in shape you won't get the consistency that this way provides. However, this is in no means the said way or law on how to do it, this video is only intended to get the information out there. Where you take it from here is up to you!
Perhaps using the sandpaper with water might help with dust. Plus you can get a much smoother finish without taking the sanding up to such a high grit.
cool tech but how about polishing the wire before coiling. I think it may work better for less gunk build up. as you said it does help some. the whole wire should be even better! I will try it!
Dude I can't thank you enough for the inspiration. I have learned so much from your videos this one included.... but. For the love of god don't hammer on a drill chuck... From what i've seen (on your videos) the less wobble on the drill the better and those chucks (especially the cheaper variety) are not made to be hit... Maybe pull it out of the chuck and hammer it on a vise? I dunno... Its just the first thing i've seen in any of your videos that I thought I could help you out on for a change haha. Please keep making these videos!
HAHA yeah no doubt! To be honest with you, I have several drills and for the sake of time and this video I donated one! But you are absolutely correct, appreciate the call out!
Thanks for the great tutorial. If you're planning to build a single wire coil, have you tried sanding/polishing the wire when it's still straight and un-coiled?
+Van VanM Absolutely. This however will only work well with single pieces of wire. On the more elaborate wires, they tend to be more square or rectangular in shape which makes it a little more difficult to sand. Not saying it can't be done. The technique in this video is just one way you can achieve this finish!
Not bad looking, if I have the extra time I might try this. I usually try to build a few extra so when I get off work I don't spend and hour or so building a shiny coil. But like I said if I ever get the time I will try it out. I want to try tha chain coil that twisted messes done on here.
I hear it matters if you use wet vs dry sandpaper grits? I heard it only works with wet grit? I don't know the difference, I'm new to all of this and I bought a pack of sand paper with all different grits, but I think it's just dry but I can't tell. I don't even know what wet vs. dry is truly. Any help majorly appreciated. I'm back to this video for the 3rd time now with all the right gear finally! SO please help if you are able! Awesome video thanks for the tutorials Squidoode, keep it up I wouldn't be where I am without these.
Hey Alex, wet sanding vs. dry sanding could be debated from both ends. My opinion, in my experience doing high polishes on headlights, firearms, coils, etc you just about name it... wet sanding is always going to be the better option as the water acts as a "coolant" and allows for a smoother more even finish. Now this is when you start getting in the 2000 grit + range. Wet sanding with 80 grit, makes no sense you see... Hopefully that makes a little sense. Now they do sell specifically wet and dry sandpaper, but I have found it doesn't really matter as long as you have the grit you're looking for. I would simply make a water soap mixture in a piece of tupperware or something you don't mind getting a little dirty and dunking your piece of sandpaper in that water/soap mixture periodically while sanding no matter what the polish project is or skip the hassle and just dry sand it. When you dry sand with those higher grits you'll still have very very fine scratches in the wire which would only be seen through an up close macro type photo.
The Art of Vaping wow thanks so much that was the answer I needed and more. So so grateful for your help. Thanks again!! (Btw I don't mind doing the soap/water dipping, if it produces a better cleaner finish)
You can use the back side of that sandpaper to clean the coil between grits so you wouldn't have to soak it every time and clean it once really well at the end. Might save you some time. Also don't really need to start with such a heavy grit because the finish on the wire is already very good. I would also use a pair of pliers to tuck the end of the wire when it's on the bit, your drill will thank you later.
I was thinking the same thing...grip that sumbeech in the toothless pliers and give a few revolutions. Also would like to add that many small taps of a hammer would be better than a few violent whacks.
squidoode would it make it wick better if you used fishing swivels and polished all sides of the wire before you built the coils? it just seems like it would make the wicking and flavor better by removing all the contamination from the wire before even coiling it.
+andyflagg You could absolutely do this however with more elaborate wires (which tend to be more rectangular in shape) are hard to get an even sanding and you always run the risk of messing the wire up while doing that. However, for your basic single pieces of round wire, I don't see why you couldn't do it the way you described!
id like to see a tutorial on tsuka coil , its kicking my ass , and so far you have been a big help with other builds ive done. anyway love the videos , havnt got your rda yet but i do like what ive seen with all the different reviews that have been done
Hello Squidoode, interested in what you vape, earlier in the video you mention you go back to a specific juice, what juice is that? Love your vids, I hope I get a 1/4 as good as you at building coils, that would be enough 😎
Great vid and great info. I do have one question though. Why don't you use the pliers to get the end of the wire flush on the drill bit instead of hitting it with a hammer and possibly doing internal damage to the drill?
+Frank Aanenson Pliers will more than likely damage the coil, more specifically if the wire is say a clapton. Toothless pliers to that type of wire will easily remove the clapton. I'm using light pressure when using the hammer and it's about an 8 ounce hammer so I'm not too concerned with damaging the drill but good point!
Thank you for taking the time to respond. It was just a thought and concern. That was the first vid of yours that I had watched. Keep up the good work and sharing the knowledge.
Once you hit 1,000 grit, use drops of water in the paper. Eliminates dust, eases sanding and does a better job. Also don't ribbon around the coil, use your finger for pressure. Anything passed 5,000 grit is a waste. Super cut polishing compound takes down to 2,500 sand scratches out. You're welcome.
Here in the Land Down Under, the fine grit paper is usually both black and can be used wet. (Emery paper or glass paper). I use this as well as polishing paste designed for metal polishing and finishing work and ise fine stones to work it in (Japanese technique) when I am finishing any of the medieval swords I make. I also make use of both dust extraction systems I built and a good respirator.
I really appreciate how many times you talk about safety and health-care
always watch your intro twice, just a solid and creative intro lol
+Jordan Walther Thanks doode, chaining it up after episode 10 but it will be even better!
+The Art of Vaping looking forward to the videos!

+Taxman man my doode!
The best tip i got from this video was using the hook and drill method to wrap the coil. Will definitely be wraping all my builds like this for now on! Thanks Doode!
yea i agree
What a way to feck up your drill chuck
That "sandpaper" should be wet and dry paper. Use it wet with dish soap and it won't clog up.
Awesome techniques.. You guys in the build community are artists of wire. Keep up the great work!
I had no idea you could do this. So this was an eye opener to me. Kinda makes me want to get the Hannya with the glass top cap just to do a coil like this.

+10mikejones haha thanks man, going to change it up every 10 episodes. Wait till you see the next one!
Pretty impressive !! Gonna pick up some sandpaper and give it a try. Will tag you and make reference to this video when I make one. Thanks for the tips !!
seems like a lot of work for little benefit, but it is art and it is pretty
+Krankie V Well, if you have a lot of followers on Instagram, you get paid on likes and followers. :D haha.
+Krankie V better wicking, doesn't gunk up as much etc ..... but yeah definitely not a great return on all your hard work. Just make new coils or burn them off, cottons not exactly expensive.
ART... Sure
+TheCoolStuffHD not exactly lol, it's not UA-cam, no adsense or monatization
Kip Painter Some do. And you also get sponsors and stuff liek that. I have multiple sponsors and am associated with a paying advertisement company. You get paid to post.

props to you dude, I'm super OCD and put a lot of precision into my builds, but I can't see much benefit in the amount of time invested. To each his own I guess.
haha it has been raining here all day, and I started doing different mirrors. Then I saw your video.
Great advice! I tend to forget sometimes, how much volume I go through and this is great information, thanks for sharing!
Beautiful work man.
Thanks ! Useful Squidoode, keep it up.
Thanks for putting this up iv been trying to figure this out for weeks!
Amazing finish.
omg bramasutra got a mention. i cant believe it. wow wow wow
Loved it brother. Keep up the good work!
The most important thing I took from this video is a new way to wrap my framed staple coils because its always a bitch too wrap with that ribbon wire inside, so now I cant use this tech everytime just to wrap even if iam not going to sand on some builds.... Thanks squid00de
+James Alipo This is a great way to wrap the most stubborn of coils. It works especially well for very stiff wire like 18, 20 and 22ga
yeah like framed staples or regular staples are a bitch, they always wanna twist and turn and that will ruin the whole coil..... so this tech has worked awesome for me
DOODE, that was GREAT!!

Thanks for the great tips.
Works ! Like Polished Car paint Little bubbles are created
I wish you could post pics in the comments to see what others have created using this technique.
+rnagic You could always link the picture using a file/image hosting website.
Perhaps using the sandpaper with water might help with dust. Plus you can get a much smoother finish without taking the sanding up to such a high grit.
Hey bro I'm a big fan I love you videos keep up the good work bro I can't wait to see other bills you have
cool tech but how about polishing the wire before coiling. I think it may work better for less gunk build up. as you said it does help some. the whole wire should be even better! I will try it!
I love the art aspect of coil building, but I just hope in the end that flavor and clouds remain the important thing.
But you are absolutely correct, appreciate the call out!
does it decrease the resistancey much as you are removing material? great video dude.
Also would like to add that many small taps of a hammer would be better than a few violent whacks.
i would love to see stainless steel color shot coils 😍
And here I am, vaping some basic fused Clapton's like a caveman.
These were the good days
squidoode would it make it wick better if you used fishing swivels and polished all sides of the wire before you built the coils? it just seems like it would make the wicking and flavor better by removing all the contamination from the wire before even coiling it.
+andyflagg You could absolutely do this however with more elaborate wires (which tend to be more rectangular in shape) are hard to get an even sanding and you always run the risk of messing the wire up while doing that. However, for your basic single pieces of round wire, I don't see why you couldn't do it the way you described!
Awesome video.
Great vid, thank you Bro
looks sick
i don't know if any one told you thisbut ,dude you need your own rda, vapor face OUT
+Clifford Russell It's coming brother!
+The Art of Vaping really hope if its an rda you went with a 2 post design. If so I will definitely buy!
The tsuka, Squidoode! PLEASE HALP!
+billguy79 So OhmboyOC beat me to the punch. Expect to see that tutorial over on Local Vapes channel in the near future!
+The Art of Vaping Thank you for the update and response, Doode! Thanks, too, for the building inpiration and help, man!!!
What if you just sanded the wire before you wrapped it?
that would be the best way for the simple coil, but you would twist up any flat wire builds you have.
id like to see a tutorial on tsuka coil , its kicking my ass , and so far you have been a big help with other builds ive done. anyway love the videos , havnt got your rda yet but i do like what ive seen with all the different reviews that have been done
I've been vaping for 3months and it's more than obvious that a spaced coil works better than a tight coil. Polish your coil all you want lol 😂
I believe that statement is true but in certain cases for sure, not across the board though
Hello Squidoode, interested in what you vape, earlier in the video you mention you go back to a specific juice, what juice is that? Love your vids, I hope I get a 1/4 as good as you at building coils, that would be enough 😎
Man this one looks like a hassle, but the result is awesom looking :) Like nr.666 number of the beast lol..
Can you please make a tsuka coil tutorial?
I enjoy watching these, but I'll be damned if I ever test my patience on builds like these. I'll stick with my Alien Claptons 😂
Nothing wrong with that!
God they're gorgeous though man.
What precision screwdriver set do you use? Seems really handy for centering with the small lip that they have.
Hello mate great vid can you tell me what atty your using in the vid thanks
+djbanger I used two, the 4 post was the Twisted Messes Black & Gold addition (link in video description) and the 2 post was the Phenotype-L
+The Art of Vaping cheers
hey bud love the tutorials. I've learned a lot from your channel. I was hoping you could do one for tsuka style build?
+Matt Dee oh man, I wanted to do one but OhmboyOC beat me to it. Expect to see that tutorial up on Local Vape's channel in the near future
Oh my god bro ! REALLY ! !
