Life is Strange 2 was my personal favourite- it took so many risks and chances and implemented them WELL. The new world per each episode, meeting new characters, the Brotherhood dynamic and choices having actual meaning were all amazing aspects of the game barely matched in the others. All the games have their qualities though but for me the Wolf Brothers certainly deserve more love in this franchise.
Here’s my ranking: 1. LiS - I think we all agree on the No. 1. No explanation needed. 2. Double Exposure - While many people say it’s disappointing, I think this game is pretty decent. The superpowers featured in it are more interesting than those in all other games apart from the first game. And it’s amazing to have Max back. The story was well-written as well. 3. True Colors - For me, the story of this game is not bad, but Alex’s superpower is little too boring. And while you said it’s easy to predict who the killer is, I found it surprising how things turned out at the end of the game. 4. LiS 2 - The only thing that I love about this game the road trip feel to it. The story is extremely predictable and failed to make me curious to find out how the game would end. The whole story is just the two brothers running away from the police to either get busted or not in the end. No surprises at all. 5. Before the Storm - Like you said. It’s disappointing because it provides no explanation to Rachel’s disappearance at all. The story is so-so, and the lack of superpowers makes the game even less interesting.
@@boycomedy3329I think people liked the plot in DE more than BTS. Imo both plots aren’t good, but I did enjoy BTS more than DE because of the characters, and I’m a bigger fan of Chloe than Max . Which is another reason why people would put BTS last because they’re not a big fan of Chloe
I think for me it was the whole maze/puzzle aspects that were so awful, but otherwise I totally agree!! It's creepy as heck, and feels like a genuine consequence on her mind for her messing up time so much.
@@OGQonxjrI think so too. True Colors was far from perfect, it has pacing issues and too much filler, there only was like 4 environments etc but at least the story mostly made sense which can't be said about Double Exposure
I really appreciate this video. I swear it felt like I was being gaslit by the fandom. I like Double Exposure & True Colors besides their endings. Every time I play through a game they always have their token "dream" sequences that I hate, instead of properly concluding their games. The first game is more expansive with their characters and setting but the first game stands on the shoulders of your relationship with Chloe (who is imo a bad character, unlikable person and a worst friend). The second game had a beautiful opening but unfortunately I couldn't finish it, Daniel was too annoying. The new games weren't as expansive as those 2 but they had more likable characters (even if surface level). One thing I would disagree with is the use of the power in the first game. I dislike in any medium where they do what I like to call "artificially extend the story" For example a movie would be 10 minutes if characters actually talked to each other instead of jumping to conclusions. So with the first game, it felt like I had to always rewind. Instead rewinding big plot points and choosing when and when not to use my power. And that was exemplified with the ending dream sequence that just dragged on and on.
1. LIS 1 - Just a masterpiece and the story that I found myself engaged in the most ever tbh 2. LIS BTS - Cool addition to the LIS lore of the first game. The first episode was incredible imo, but it very much fell off as it progressed and I agree that they should have focused more on Rachel's disappearance and other more important aspects rather than building up a drama around her mother which I frankly didn't care much about. 3. LIS 2 My opinion about this game is kind of mixed. I didn't hate it or anything but for me it lacked much of what the first game had and personally I couldn’t really connect to the characters, especially Daniel whom I found very annoying at times. The story wasn't bad but I would have handled it a lot differently, however I can see why some people like this game a lot, I guess it just didn't click with me 4. LIS True Colors - I haven't actually finished this game because I dropped it at episode 3 during that long RPG section which bored me to tears. However I don't think it was a bad game: soundtrack was great as always and the setting and the characters were fairly interesting, so I might give it another try some time 5. LIS Double Exposure - I honestly just despise it. I was happy that Max was back but I was already very anxious about how they would have handled the double ending thing from the first game, and well, they messed up. Apart from that, the real problem is not even Chloe not being in the game (I chose the sacrifice Chloe ending after all, although when it comes to the other ending Max and Chloe separation in DE felt indeed very unnatural), but pretty much all the rest? The characters were boring af expect for Max, the mistery was fairly intriguing in the beginning but ended up being very shallow, the last two chapters were horrible and too short and the ending was just...I don't even wanna talk about it. They even wanna make another sequel...smh

(I have a lot of complaints for this, you already explained some of them, istg the newer life is strange games just don't hit the same as the previous ones.)
Life is strange before the storm was really disappointing to me because they just showed us how Chloe and Rachel met each other and explained us how Rachel's life was really look like they gave us more details but they've failed to fill us in how she got murdered or what the mystery was behind Jefferson who involved in those crime scenes plus the game also had so much disturbing bugs especially on the loading screen
I'd have it 1. LIS characters and mystery 2. True Colors Alex and (Town was best in series) 3. Double Exposure even with flaws 4. Before the Storm too short 5. 1. LIS 1 2. LIS 2 3. Double Exposure 4. True Colors 5. Before The Storm The first two I feel like are the best overall, and nothing has topped the original (I doubt it's even possible). I put Double Exposure before True Colors because True Colors felt too small in scope for me and I genuinely love what they've done with Max's character in Double Exposure (Shame the ending was so underwhelming). Before the Storm is easily the weakest of them all, for much the same reasons you yourself mentioned.
1. True Colors 2. LiS 3. LiS BTS 4. Captain Spirit 5&6 Tied. LiS2 and Double Exposure (need to replay LiS2 to decide if it’s still just as hamfisted and overly political as I remember it and if that awful writing direction infuriates me more than the bastardization of Max.)

True Colors - Good game, not bad, but characters are very forgettable for me 3.Two - If not that characters and locations were swapped faster than Sonic runs it would be second place 2.Before the Storm, it only gets second place for Chloe and Arcadia Bay for me..storh is basically..."Daddy issues ahh shit" and that's it And first place goes to LiS1, best LiS ever
Agreed. BFS fails because ch 3 is a complete letdown. Ending choice has no real consequences unlike the original. D9 doesn't seem to be able to give you end choices that matter.
Great solid list! True Colors is definitely the second best as LiS 2 often feels inconsistent and the pacing is god awful. True colors is shorter and definitely had a shorter budget but achieved what it wanted and felt more in line with the first game. If we’re going off the shitty ending of Double Exposure, I need my queens Alex and Max to meet!
LiS2’s pacing isn’t even awful, I would argue that a game which take its time to build its world and character development up over the course of two-three episodes shows how in depth and layered the brother’s relationship really is. Everything that’s happening on the screen is happening for the amount of time that makes the most sense in order to understand the main characters and the situations they’re put through. LiS2 was just slow enough to achieve these bonding moments perfectly.
