Noah, your videos are great. As a fisherman... please hold your breath all the time you have a fish out of the water because that is what the fish has to do while you are messing around. Please just release the fish as quickly as possible if you plan to release it.
Your enthusiasm for catching brookies is infectious! Almost makes me want to start fishing. Almost. Down here in the States we've ruined too much of our anadromous fish runs for alewives and river herring, but there are a lot of projects going on to try to improve fish passages around our dams...including by taking some dams down. It's so great to see a healthy fishery! Thanks for some awesome footage.
Wow, what a great adventure .... the water sounds; the bird song; the peepers & the fishing ! Thanks for the adventure & the piece de resistance ... the "squished" butter tart .....lol
❤ that was amazing to see all those fish thanks for taking underwater Shots just love it all Noah ,im so Thankful you took us along❤ cant wait for the big trip post, you and Rachel be safe out there
I don’t know where exactly you were (of course) but I’ve watched the Gaspereau run on…. The Gaspereau River just up stream from …. Gaspereau! And it was absolutely a magnificent life-altering experience. What’s most interesting is that the person who told me about it, had watched that run for 30+ years in that same location always the first week of May. And last year - they weren’t there. The eagles hunt and feed on that run so there are lots of remains along the river and the run had clearly been earlier. For the first time, I didn’t check this year and now NS Power is threatening to close that path off for walkers (there’s a big hullabaloo, I hope they’ll reconsider) so I don’t know if we’ll ever have a chance again….
Man… the sound of those peepers brings back childhood nostalgia. I love everything about these videos, and I appreciate how knowledgeable you are about the land and environment. Thanks, Noah! Keep up the great work.
Once again Noah you brought vicariously on that wonderful journey. Watching you is meditative. Good travels for your upcoming journey with Rachel. PS love the Merlin App as well.
Gaspereaux are also know as Alewifes are good eating. Boney but high in omega 3's. They were very popular in the Maritimes a while back. Smoke them and enjoy.
So many beautifully shot perspectives of this amazing world. I get so caught up in the adventure that I forget how much work it must be to do the editing as well. Great job as always.
Fellow Nova Scotian here! Love your videos! You should totally try to get Zach Fowler from Maine to team up with you on some kind of portage/survival challenge!
great late spring adventure, and uplifting to see Noah's thoughtful appreciation of the plant/insect/fish/eagles/etc life cycles...easy to look past that stuff but it's right there for all to see if we just take the time to look 😊
I don’t eat fish and thus I don’t fish but enjoy the heck outta watching you fish. You are absolutely right, such an amazing time to be in the woods. Looking forward to you and Rachel doing the big trip. Be safe!
Great video, Noah! The rivers were teaming with Gaspereaux this spring. Funny story... when I was working in Yarmouth one spring, all of the folks from Tusket were talking about going kayaking every evening. After a few conversations, I realised they were fishing for Kiack, another name for Gasperaux. Unfortunately, I didn't make more paddling friends! 😂
Thank you for these videos. A fisherman I’m not but I’m a Bluenoser who lives in the US now and I get to see your beautiful footage of my Province!!! Love it!
Killdeer eggs .... and yes the do that cute dance to distract you from its nest . They will lay the eggs on ground where the eggs blend in on the rocks . Nice adventure
Another beautiful video, Noah; thank you. In my tripping days, I always traveled light, but can recommend a reflector oven. I’ve baked grayling, specs, and lake trout all without carbonizing the fish. It’s also great for bannock, date bars, and other breadstuffs. Also, if your Ontario-Manitoba trip brings you close to Rainy Lake, give a shout. I’ll heat the sauna!
Merlin is a GREAT app. This spring I turned it on out back of our house near Pittsburgh and in a couple of minutes it identified about a dozen birds. Many of them I’d never heard of before and several were listed as rare. Clearly I had caught migrators taking a brief pause on their way north. Another great one Noah and can’t wait to hear about your upcoming adventure when Rachel
What a beautiful landscape and adventure! You captured everything you described perfectly. Very immersive, vivid, and well done! Your videos get better with each release. Making sure I got that notification bell turned on for your Ontario-Manitoba adventure! Can't wait!
I'm guessing the circling birds were turkey vultures. I live in NB and we have a lot of them here, and you see them circling like that often. I grew up in NS fishing spots like that. Brings back great memories.
Thanks for taking us along on this adventure! Beautiful country!!! I'm going to guess "The French River" for your 18 day trip from Ontario to Manitoba. :) I love camping on the French River.
It's deer fly season and I miss black flies already! 😂 ...I also use neoprene socks for abrasion when I'm doing forestry work. And ski socks. Better to be hot than blistered! That was something special to see I've got to experience it myself one of these days!
I had a recent three day trip lots of flat water and lakes mixed with quick water that was too low, the alewives were still running and at one dam with a fish way they were abundant and the place had a very dead fishy smell from them. Eagles galore, good to see them enjoying the fish. This system was mostly small mouth bass any trout had taken up residence else were You are blessed to have some nice brook trout water. As I often mention a pole helps greatly picking through the bones, worth learning the skill.
When you said at your first camp site that you were listening to bird song with your Merlin app I was recording the bird song I was hearing on the video with my Merlin app. I couldn’t believe you mentioned it🤣! I watch all your amazing videos and documentaries with my Merlin app at the ready. Can’t wait for the next one😊
BRAVO! I’m telling you, you are the best! Thanks Noah! And also, didn’t I see a video before maybe - butter tarts from your Mom.. maybe not but for some reason I thought. Anyway, thank you for taking us along on your adventures 👍#findyournorth
Congratulations om yet another great video. I love the way you mix in advice and suggestions along with some natural history. Your obvious enthusiasm is great. cheers from Lunenburg County.
How come you’re always fishing and camping, but never scavenging? 🤔😀 There were a couple of beauties you caught. I used to fish on some lakes in Quebec when I was young. We often caught like that, sometimes bigger, but that was like 40yrs ago. It’s tougher and tougher nowadays. By the way, those Gaspeereau are totally edible. Just lots of bones. I’ve seen people catching Ailwives, which are basically the same thing. This guy smoked the hell out of them, and he said you could just chew up the tiny bones…..but I grew up eating smoked kippers, so I got used to those little bones. Btw, have you learned to roll cast? I was never terribly good at it, but in those little crowded areas, it really helps. Thanks for the video
Noah and others. I live in the Caribbean. Did live in Nova Scotia and London , Ont. for a few years and loved it. These adventures make me homesick and I am along with you all virtually as is everyone watching. I just binged on the Labrador trip with Alex, Chris and Dave when you got really ill. I recommend taking along a bottle of Angostura bitters. It’s small. But add a teaspoon to some water will sort you out in a day. I totally recommend it. Try it at home first if you like. Now, I want to ask , Are you all employed by Northern Scavenger or do they sponsor you or is it your business? Very curious. You MUST have sponsors for those long trips surely.
Haha, I think I just read your log entry from this trip at a certain crown land cabin this morning. "Good fishing and rough going." I spent two days hiking a loop around the wilderness area, checking out cabins.
Thanks for a great trip report. Eagles, underwater shots and trout fishing were awesome. Boy you have my curiosity up which river you are taking in NOnt.
Great beautiful video. Love your appreciation of nature. Can’t wait to see the next videos. I spent my early years in Thunder Bay and still have a sister there. Now living Chicago area and really miss that untamed wilderness. Also I think gaspereau are the same as alewive. Had to look it up as I had never heard of gaspereau. My only complaint: Gravy on brook trout. No not for me. As always though great videos.
Great video. That Prospector 15 seems like a great 1 person boat for trips like this. I have a 16.5 Old Town but the Nova seems like it has some rocker for choppier water.
Noah, your videos are great. As a fisherman... please hold your breath all the time you have a fish out of the water because that is what the fish has to do while you are messing around. Please just release the fish as quickly as possible if you plan to release it.

Watching your videos makes me think like I am 30 years old again (77 actually) , ready to go buy a canoe!!!!!!!!!! Good work!
This is so wonderful! Thank you for sharing your amazing journey. I love how you care about the fish, the wildlife and the land. That rocks!!
Wow, what a great adventure .... the water sounds; the bird song; the peepers & the fishing ! Thanks for the adventure & the piece de resistance ... the "squished" butter tart .....lol
Thanks for the ride along. What beautiful country. Still so wild. Can't wait for the next trip.
❤ that was amazing to see all those fish thanks for taking underwater Shots just love it all Noah ,im so Thankful you took us along❤ cant wait for the big trip post, you and Rachel be safe out there
Your videos reveal how much joy doing these trips brings you snd your friends. My 14 y/o son is enjoying them too. Cheers 🥂
I am 67. Nova Scotia is on my bucket list for fishing. You are my mentor. Love your videos and please give us more!
No fish in Nova Scotia
That is good fire pit education. Very necessary. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Those were some beautiful brook trout you were catching.
I need a camping getaway like that... back to nature where I belong!
Thank you for sharing!
Pan fried trout in butter is the only meal you need. Oh man I miss those.

What a beautifully composed sunrise picture from the morning of Day 2! Absolutely stunning! And with the loon call…pure heaven
Hermit thrush is my favourite bird song. Love hearing it while I’m fishing
Thrush Hermit is one of my favourite bands
Man… the sound of those peepers brings back childhood nostalgia.
I love everything about these videos, and I appreciate how knowledgeable you are about the land and environment. Thanks, Noah! Keep up the great work.
Once again Noah you brought vicariously on that wonderful journey. Watching you is meditative. Good travels for your upcoming journey with Rachel.
PS love the Merlin App as well.
How reviving, chillaxing and beautiful! TY, Noah!
Gaspereaux are also know as Alewifes are good eating. Boney but high in omega 3's. They were very popular in the Maritimes a while back. Smoke them and enjoy.
Fillet them soaked in vinegar for 24 hours very good
The Mi’kmaq call them kayaks.
Sorry, I should say that I think the mi’kmaq call them kayaks. My grandfather told me this yrs ago. He fished for them.
So many beautifully shot perspectives of this amazing world. I get so caught up in the adventure that I forget how much work it must be to do the editing as well. Great job as always.
Glad you enjoyed :)
Fellow Nova Scotian here! Love your videos! You should totally try to get Zach Fowler from Maine to team up with you on some kind of portage/survival challenge!
Full stream of fish, full beard, full colors (new camera or setting, ey how lovely) - live is but a dream.
great late spring adventure, and uplifting to see Noah's thoughtful appreciation of the plant/insect/fish/eagles/etc life cycles...easy to look past that stuff but it's right there for all to see if we just take the time to look 😊

Noah, always a pleasure to watch your beautiful videos. I enjoy the knowledge that you share.
"Try my best", well said
Inspiring! thank you for taking me to a part of the world I have not seen and for allowing me to sense your pure appreciation of nature.
Great video, Noah! The rivers were teaming with Gaspereaux this spring. After a few conversations, I realised they were fishing for Kiack, another name for Gasperaux. Unfortunately, I didn't make more paddling friends! 😂
So cool you showed us some birds Noah. As a birder from New Zealand, I'm always looking/listening for birds when watching any filming in nature.
Cannot WAIT to see the video(s) from your big trip! Many of us live vicariously through your adventures! 😂🤣
Awesome trip once again & you put a big smile on my face. Cheers from Texas
Smoked they are the best , as a young guy many a smoked fish were enjoyed, more then now .

Thank You , as a fellow Nova Scotian , I marvel at the beauty of this Province !! And Nice Friggen Trout !!!
Killdeer eggs .... and yes the do that cute dance to distract you from its nest . They will lay the eggs on ground where the eggs blend in on the rocks . Nice adventure

Awesome trip!! Notifications are always on. Looking forward to watching your next travels with Rachel!
I love your videos so much. I feel like I'm right out there with you. Thank you for posting these wonderful videos.
Another awesome episode worthy of a fishing channel. Great music choices as well.

What a beautiful video from my favorite adventurer! love all the information on nature. Thanks.
That was great. I knew about shad migration but not gasperau. That video of them moving through rapids was wild. Thank you.
Thanks for another wonderful video Noah. Really appreciated watching you land some brookies. Eating a couple must have been outstanding.
I'm guessing the circling birds were turkey vultures. I live in NB and we have a lot of them here, and you see them circling like that often. I grew up in NS fishing spots like that. Brings back great memories.

Love seeing those lunker brookies. Another great video.

Beautiful place to spend some time. Glad you took us along.
What a great trip. Fishing was excellent. One thing, quicker release if not going to eat. Was that gravy really good with that trout? 👀
Been a while since we got a new video. Looking forward to seeing what you're cooking up!
Awesome as usual. Can’t wait for the next one. You should try a Newfoundland trip sometime.
BRAVO! I’m telling you, you are the best! Thanks Noah! And also, didn’t I see a video before maybe - butter tarts from your Mom.. maybe not but for some reason I thought. Anyway, thank you for taking us along on your adventures 👍#findyournorth

20:15 I am one of those gaspereau. Hard to tell which one sometimes. Hopefully some day I can be one that makes it up to the last pool.
Wow gaspereau ? Great to see and learn about this species. Seems like sardines…
Thanks, Noah! I love watching you fish. I look forward to watching the Ontario/Manitoba trip😊
That was super cool my friend! Thanks for sharing😎
I really miss this. Thank you. :)
I recognize that spot. Glad you enjoyed the area. Love seeing the lake and river enjoyed by others.
