Came out so good! The grade in yellows have been decent lately, like 10-13 lbs occasional 15-20s. Right on man! I’ve been dying to get on a boat for cudas lately. I just wanna cast lol. I’m going through some serious casting withdrawals

Sh0gun _Brand0n I think Long Beach harbor you would have a good shot fishing around those small islands and and the break wall. Maybe fan cast in San Diego bay and you’ll probably find a school of them. For my local area, I know this is the time of year when they start coming into Ventura harbor. People have been getting them on luck crafts lately off of the end of the jetti
Dirty Hookers LB is my backyard. Fished surface iron there before. Caught many cuda. But never saw the school. After hearing the reports on 976-tuna.com I believe they’re catching at izors reef and the horseshoe. I could be wrong but...

Nice rod, and your form looks perfect. That’s how I want to learn to throw jigs overhead like that . What kind of distance are you able to get? Just curious.
Average angler probably casts about 50-70yds but with the right wind, I’ve casted 100-120yds.
Just takes a lot of practice! Gotta hit the local docks and put in some hours figuring out the cast. I still go down to the docks and knock off my rust during the off season

Beautiful rod Ray I love the colors you chose and the way the rod loads! Awesome. I may have to take a closer look at Seeker I've been saving my pennies for a Calstar. So, no top shot on the Tranx? Going with about 6 feet of fluoro? How heavy when throwing iron? 40?
Seekers are generally a little more parabolic than a calstar. Can't go wrong with either. Calstar definitely has more options but my 10ft ulua is probably my favorite rod.
Gary Bryant thanks I am absolutely inlove with how this rod loads up! I was running about a 10 ft leader of 40 lb mono. @Zack I agree, I do think that seekers don’t tend to be a little more parabolic. I still love my calstar 100j, but my buddies 10’ ulua casts a little more effortless than my 100j

That rod looks mean.. I’m in the market for a new jig stick and I’ve only heard good things about the PH’s.. what’s the main differences from the Pinhead Uluas and the Super Seeker Uluas?
Michael Milla the ph is all glass and is a lot more parabolic. The super seeker is all backbone and is a bit harder to load up the rod on a cast. Both are “rated” at 30-60 lbs, but a 9’ SS really feels like a 50-80 lb stick

I have a factory wrapped green and black Pinhead Ulua and I love it. You made a good choice.
Question. What connection knot from braid to mono do you use? I was throwing an iron on my lexa 400 and out of nowhere I casted and my knot slipped, I lost my iron and had a massive backlash🤦🏻♂️. I tied an FG. I’ve never had an fg knot fail. So idk what happened
Isaiah Reyna I personally like the RP knot. It’s not as thin as the FG, but it is thin and small and compact. I use it for everything from freshwater bass to saltwater tuna. as much as everyone on the east coast and Australia swear by the FG knot, I personally think it only sinches down properly with heavy line. All the people in Florida that say it’s the strongest knot, use a minimum of 80# flouro carbon to like 80+ lb braid. The guys in Australia is like 100-200 lb flouro. I think with heavy line, it gives it more to bite down on which can make it an effective knot, but with the lighter line that we use here in California, like 30-40 lb, I don’t think it’s think enough and the braid can cut right through.
I could be wrong, but that’s my own personal opinion and my small theory lol

Where was the rod cut from? What size tip? I have a ph 93h blank from the factory that is 9'7. Not sure where to cut it to fish 40#.
I didn’t personally do this build, so I honestly can’t tell you. But if you send a text or DM to Jr, he is a very knowledgeable rod builder and is happy to answer any questions. All his information is in the description
@alin a 12 tip is really solid in that PH93. I cut my down to a 12 and 1 inch from the bottom. It’s at 9’7” now. Curious as to what you ended up doing to yours. Great look rod by the way Dirty🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Sold that blank and had an ESM ulua built. 1/2 the weight of the PH and skinnier butt.
What pound braid you using?
I ran 65# max cuatro when I had the tranx 500. I traded it with my buddy recently, I think he put 80# on it

SmokedOutHemi 2 hell yeah bro! Flyline seems like it’s been the ticket everywhere rn. And if you have a surface iron rod, would hurt to be rigged and ready for them to start splashing around!

Yeah I can honestly say, I prefer casting conventional over anything.
I only use my tranx for like poppers or stick baits now.

Danny Romo I wrapped one of my rods about 5 years ago, but it wasn’t anything creative lol. This is my first actual completely custom rod!
what did yo put on your reel? i saw liquid dripping from your 500.
That’s just the salt water from the soaked line.
Jess Armendariz correct that was just the water dripping off of my reel from the line being wet
