    Where did you get the metal cabinet?

    The Manabloc is an innovative solution. I love the people who are like "what if it leaks?" Hey, what if copper leaks? I ought to know, having had about 8-10 leaks in the least 6 years, always at the worst time! Shut off and drain the entire house. Get out the torch. Make sure you don't start a fire. Have fun in the hard to reach places. Oh, it's in a wall? Have fun with that. I have 3 friends who had over $20K of damage from copper pipes bursting, one had to live in a trailer for 4 months while their house was repaired. I've had it with copper, I'm going with a Manabloc.What if it freezes? Well, what happens if copper freezes? FWIW, PEX tubing is better able to withstand freezing than copper is.This is not a new, untested system. And PEX itself has been used for decades, more so in Europe than the US. When a Manabloc and PEX system is designed, sized and installed correctly, it is awesome. There are many benefits over copper. Many home builders are using this for new construction now.The Manabloc manifold I'm looking at is under $200. That's about the price of a plumber service call for one hour. I could swap out a MB in an hour or less if I ever need to. Of course nothing is perfect, not PEX, and certainly not copper.

    All the pipes that was going into the 2x4 in that central location you aren’t worried about the holes you have to make for them? That’s still up to code for drilling out the holes for the manifold?

    I just saw this video on Manabloc, I see that you mentioned using different pex sizes for washer, toilet, sink, etc.... Can you please tell me the recommended size pex for each dedicated runs...

    PLEASE HELP ME
    I plan on using a manablock in my house, but my Master bath is 70 feet away,.
    Should I use a 3/8 for the hot water home runs from the manablock??

    Very good presentation and I really like these videos. One concern with Manablock that I have experienced is the stickers fall off after a few years. Not a big deal and easily fixed but worth considering.

    To Superior Structures, looks amazing,super time saving, question does it have copper metal properties while is used to kill most things in water, where hose, like on a back of a refrigerator tends to grow mold after a period of time. And or is there a way to clen the lines like at a bar where they are cleaned and or replaced like an expiration date.

    The MANABLOC is installed in the garage, so if there is leaking at the MANABLOC there would be minimal damage. In additon, the MANABLOC is covered by a 10-year warranty giving you the "right to reimbursement if the failure or leak or resulting damage resulted from a manufacturing defect in the products covered by this warranty and the failure or leak or resulting damage occurred during the warranty period."

    I'm going to put one of these systems in my house before finishing the basement. It looks like our builder used a warehouse worth of tees and elbows when installing our trunk-branch PEX setup (8 year old home.) It's a real mess. One thing I noticed in your video is that you appear to be using compression fittings for the 1/2" ports and crimp fittings for what appear to be 3/8" lines. Why the difference?
    What's cool about this video for me is that I didn't realize you could alter the port fittings on the 1/2" Manabloc to 3/8"; I know Viega sells a Manabloc with only 3/8" ports but I was curious if you could mix and match 1/2" and 3/8". Now I know! Where did you get the individual 3/8" ports from?
    Thanks again for the video.

      The valves fail to work after 2 years, hard water or not, pure garbage, I've removed 85 systems in 3 years, it will fail

    You really should insulate all of your PEX water lines.
    I build my own PEX manifolds, but I can see why some contractors would use a pre-made product. I prefer to do this as I can replace individual ball valves (I only use full flow ball valves) in the off occasion that one fails. These would be much less expensive and easier to obtain when replacement parts are needed. I've never seen manabloc parts for sale in any of my local supply stores.
    Your quote about the mobile home manifold ... trying to reference it as being inferior by saying "know what you are getting" is an overt lie to viewers. You only show a single type of manifold. They also come with more ports and individual shut off valves for each port. So it isn't as "pretty as your "manabloc", but it does function in the exact same mechanical fashion.

    Seems like it adds multiple points of failure to the system ..probably by design to upcharge for a service plan

    As a plumber of 30 years I think this system is quite clearly much less efficient than a standard setup. I would love to come and prove this to manablock.

    • @ericm8924

      Of course you do because as a plumber when something reduces the risks of leaks you have less work to do which means less money for you.

    This professionally installed system popped a hot water line at 2:20 am in my home 12/29/2016 causing over $20,000 in damage, a red hot line 7 down on the left side there became detached from the black connector spewing hot water for over 1 hour before discovered down stairs. Service Master said they sucked up over 400 gallons of water

    When a Manibloc develops a leak then what?

  • @NickWelch
    @NickWelch 9 років тому +2

    What is wrong with a copper manifold? The lack of valves and lack of threaded compression fittings probably make it less likely to leak than a Manabloc. Maligning it as a "mobile home" thing is just condescending and perpetuates ignorance and bias. Actually explaining what's wrong with it would be much more useful.

    • @earney74
      @earney74 8 років тому +1

      I agree. I was okay with the video until he aligned the copper manifold with mobile homes. There are a lot of mansions that contain copper manifolds.

      GREAT POST!!! I just commented basically the same to another post. If their product is so great which, how long has it been in the field in service to already state how much better it is but regardless, it’s f it is that great why is there a need to bash a proven system that works and at the same time categorize it as a “trailer home” system to further degrade it as if mobile homes as if it’s for poverty folks only or something. Ridiculous and poor taste imo

    I'd rather flush ohe cold water out of a single line main hot water feed to the house even at the furthest point and wait 30 seconds than flush out 13 separate hot lines. Warranty with these things are a joke as well 10 years. Aim for 50 years.

  • @say_goodnight7342
    @say_goodnight7342 5 років тому

    This is full of half lies. Pex itself was mainly used for mobile homes before it was ever modern to use it. Ever see that grey flexible pipe in most mobile homes?? Yeah that's thin wall pex. Also, it doesn't matter whether you have trunk and branch or a manifold system, you should always get hot water under a minute. In fact trunk and branch is better for this commodity because should you ever use hot water in one fixture, you also have hot water ready for every fixture around it too. With a manifold system, you have to discharge the colder water for EVERY fixture EVERYTIME you want hot water, wasting much more water down the drain because of dedicated home runs, unless you just used the same fixture moments before. They both have their pros and cons, but I dont appreciate deliberate misinformation

      -- Our information regarding this system is derived from third party testing and verifiable performance. Please see this link from the government's Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R): www.huduser.gov/portal/publications/pex_design_guide.pdf. In Chapter 2 of this plumbing systems Design Guide, many advantages of these types of systems are noted including the following: "PEX piping offers reduced heat loss and improved thermal characteristics when compared to metallic pipe. In addition, less energy is used by the water heater because of shorter delivery time for hot water with PEX parallel plumbing systems."
