Not only that, but it's your job to research the area you'll be transiting and familiarize yourself ahead of time. Back in my trucking days, I always did my homework ahead, when beginning any trip. Especially if my trip would take me through an area I didn't already have experience with. I knew the frequency of rest stops, pullouts, truck stops, and other important resources and places to stop. I knew, in general, where most of them were. I knew what areas had long stretches where there was no where to safely stop, or no place to get fuel. I also usually had an idea of what the high and low end of fuel prices were in the area. This is really basic foundation shit. And, it's a helluva lot easier now than it was back then. You can easily research every bit of it and more on the web, and you can do it on a smartphone from pretty much anywhere. I mean, it's absolutely stupid simple and easier than eating ice cream. There's really, REALLY no excuse for not doing it. If you're that lazy, incompetent, and ignorant, you probably shouldn't be allowed to drive on public roads or operate any kind of remotely dangerous equipment.
Its called trip planning as a hotshot driver u should know the route and plan fuel stops accordingly. If you do you do diligence you should never run out of fuel especially knowing that the next station could be tens if not hundreds of miles.
my grandfather would always look at the gas gage first thing when he rode with me and then tell me "you know it runs just as good on the first half as it does on the second half" thanks for being you. you are a great person thanks again.
I’m more impressed with each video I watch. Casey learned a valuable lesson. One possibility was to do what he did in the morning. Take care of your customers and then deal with the delivery.
He deserved to be charged for your rescue trip to carry fuel to him and then loudly lectured about how you lost money and possibly a customer bailing him out of his own stupidity. You really are a nice guy and he got treated way better than he deserved. Hopefully your customer will see this and give you slack for his mistake.
Absolutely, invoice the broker for the recovery, as it was THEM you had a contract with, they can then invoice the driver plus a % on top for thair admin
Running out of fuel and breaking down are two different things entirely. First rule I was taught as a driver is never run out of fuel there is no excuse
I ran out of fuel once when I was around 20 and fairly new to running out of state. I was on my way back home and was pretty tired so I pulled into the last rest area that was still about two hours away from home. Fuel gauge was reading around quarter of a tank but I parked on the side of lot as the parking slots were full. On the side it had just enough slant that the fuel had all run into one tank. Technically I still had fuel but apparently the pickup for the fuel was only in one of the tanks and it wasn't the tank that had the fuel. I'm not sure if it was an issue with that old truck or what the problem was. The tank on the side leaning towards the ditch looked almost half full while the other tank was empty. When I finally got to a fuel station the level in the tanks had evened out on level ground. Either way I've never parked like that since then unless I have at least half a tank.
I'll use the defective fuel guage excuse for the one time (2nd run 1st fuel tank of a rental) and a hooped cross feed between twin tanks on my regular truck just fresh back out of service..... both times I visually had lots.... sigh. The rental was a single tank, bone empty, guage still reading 1/3.... 2nd time, the draw tank was dry, pony tank had just under a 1/4, but it wasn't equalizing and I pooched on a hill, crossfeed at the wrong end.
I have "ran out of fuel" with a quarter tank in a semi while rolling down the road. I hit the construction zone bump and best we could figure it jostled the fuel enough to suck air into the entire system, 3 miles from the truck stop i was heading to. I had enough fuel, just the fuel filter on the motor was full of air. The worst 3 hours priming the pump ive ever had
I can tell this isn't reality TV because there isn't dramatic music in the background and camera angles changing every 5 minuets. Nice work keeping it honest.
Before I retired, I had an NCCCO Crane Operator and Signalman license for a 18 ton boom truck. You were really, really nice. I would have given hell and gave him explicit directions how to get there!

Thank you Casey for no matter the situation - good/bad/fun/rough - you share it here on your channel and always give your viewers your point of view. That's why I'm here😊.
My dad drove truck for 60 years, never ran out of diesel EVER...could back up and line up on a dime....this dude is out of his league and you sir are a saint! My dad would have had a heart attack with that situation!
I didn't hear him say thank you for driving all that way and giving him gas AND pouring it in his tank (he never said "here, I'll get that"). I also didn't hear him offer to pay for the gas. And no apology for him fing up running out of fuel and messing up your day's timing...which costs you time and money. He bid on and agreed to the job, and knew what the trailer was so he has no right at all to complain at all about anything to you.
Watching this video... would NEVER think Casey had an attitude. In fact the only thing I thought was, Casey's WAY too patient and nice. My greatest flaw in life is keeping my mouth shut all the time, I hate it. Him pulling away while you were lifting is BEYOND insane and you would've had every right to rip him a new one.
I’m glad for your introduction which gave us a forecasting of events. You were completely justified with your frustration and anger. This driver didn’t really care about you or the situation. I’m sorry you lost that extra tow but you got your delivery and thanks for giving reality check on your daily life. Bless you brother
Everybody fu*ks up now and then, so it's no big deal. The true judge of someone is how they recover from fu*cking up. That delivery driver should have apologized profusely for running out if fuel and needing you to save his butt.
He probably had Tide pod poisoning. Typical Tide pod eating entitled millennial. I only see this because I have two brothers that are millennials and they're a couple of assholes. Edited because my phone's acting like a liberal.
You are a very straight forward, No Nonsense type of person, the type of person I wouldn't mind having as a Boss. Keep being yourself and keep doing great things 👍
Also! Casey I was litterally thinking yesterday that you need a flatbed attatchment like the zacklift so you dont have to switch to the rollback! I actually didnt know wether they made those or not. But here we are. Awesome!😊
The fact that he's a hotshot has nothing to do with it. The driver screwed up. I hope the driver learns from this the hard part is maybe he's just trying to make a living but maybe not. I'm not going to assume either way.
You the problem... He ran out of fuel. Didn't call you or the broker. When he did . He broke down. Hour round trip plus fuel for you. He couldn't follow instructions. No paper work. I would have been more than pissed off. You have the right to call out bad service sir. Thank you for being human.

Hello Casey, you handled yourself quite well with an obviously uneducated/inexperienced hotshot driver. I hope he takes to heart some of the lessons that he should have learned on his transport job. Keep up the great content!
ABSOLUTELY 1,000% hotshot drivers fault !!! No question about it The dude should have filled all tanks to capacity BEFORE heading out. No Excuse for running out of fuel... N O N E
@@EricVanDorn price be dammed, if your doing the load it should pay for the fuel. If you can't afford the fuel, you have no business running a business
Charge enough for the job too so you can fill up wherever! I briefly looked into hot shotting as a way to supplement long drives, see if there is a load I can take somewhere. Or if there was money in it do a little bit of that. They put out the bids for the drive at bare bottom prices. Then when no one takes that job because they would lose money they increase it a little and wait...a little and wait. That's why your shipment came in 3 weeks late. Until finally some guy desperate enough to make the payment on his new truck takes it. Lots of guys like that that don't make enough to keep their business afloat and have to quit the industry. Meanwhile they screw up everything else for guys who actually know how to balance their business expenses.
Best piece of advice i can give you Casey is the advice my wife gave me. You've got to stop expecting people to think and operate at the same level as you. Once I did that, stress levels went way down. I stopped having the same expectation of professionalism in people that I had of myself. Multi hour edit later after seeing replies. It also helped me to anticipate and get ahead of other peoples stupidity.
Yep to expect a random driver to back up close to Zack lift, without hitting it after earlier.. I get trailer driver set. “You unstrap on other side when I line up to lift. Nce I am positioned you can unstrap this side while I hook up.” If they are operating equipment. “Hands OFF controls” make them understand until I step clear you don’t touch a control.
Any keyboard warriors that can still say Casey was out of line after watching the video, just has never done any kind of rigging or loading/unloading. Setting aside how un-professional the guy was by running out of fuel, taking over an hour to simply call & notify you. Casey was completely in the right for “yelling” at the guy when he started to pull away before getting any kind of signal to do so. The tiny glimpse into how he operates made me nervous for anyone on the road when that guy is pulling a full load down the highway.
UA-cam is rainbows and sunshine... you having the courage showing your real life with all facets is beautiful! Whenever I now see Casey "The Nice Guy" LaDelle I can even more appreciate you and the insights to your life! Love you man!
My boss ran out of gas 4 miles from the shop. He was coming from over 200 miles away . He was in his company car and had a company credit card. He said he was just trying to see if he could make it. He had his wife with him. She had throughly chewed his butt before I got there. I just laughed as I put gas in. I never told anyone ‘cause I didn’t want anybody to think my boss was a dummy. He actually did have a lot of common sense but not so much that day.
Back in the 1980's I was driving a large U-Haul moving a relative cross country. I ran out of gas less than 10 miles from my destination one day. Turned out that I was very accurate in estimating the MPG for that truck, but it only held about 25 gallons when the U-Haul specs said it held 30 gallons.
The world is full of them ! but what I'm taking from this is Casey can drive, the thing you need is always at the bottom, and Cascade/Thunderbirds rescue is growing 🤣
Thankfully you have the video to prove what really happened it will put a end to the BS real quick. I learned that taking pictures and videos to document stuff is the best way to protect yourself from being liable for someone else's errors or mistakes.
You did the right thing, you can't fix stupid, It's better to get them away from you so they don't cause any more issues. Running out of fuel because they are too stupid to realise there running out and may need to even put in a few gallons to get them to the job and to a cheaper station, then not following clear instructions on where to park and finally the cherry on top not following the crane operators instructions. You were a lot nicer than other people, they would have taken that trailer and left his arse at the side of the road to fix his own fuckup.
I don't understand running out of fuel anymore when your gas gauge works. You can search the location of almost all gas stations, which fuel they have, and their current price.
3:20 - I've watched enough of Casey's videos to know that he is super reasonable and will go out of his way to help people, be kind, and do the right thing, so I already know who was right and who was wrong. And yes, that 6x6 sounds awesome.
Yea Casey, WOW! He's Lucky You're A Really Nice Guy!! Most People in Your Profession Would of Totally FREAKED OUT on Him Especially For Running Out Of FUEL!! He Made Me Nervous Just Watchin Your Video! 👋Yea Casey I'm Over 40 Years Diesel TRUCK Operator!!Snoman From WA State Here!!@☃️⛄️👍😉
the crane operator ALWAYS is the boss, you were correct in chastising him. I have had similar issues working on planes and having issues with the hoist, crane or lift operator when trying to hang an engine but I never lost my temper, nor felt I had to say bad words to get my point across. It was a learning experience for them and I was the crew chief. Had a very inexperienced crew but not my choice. Your situation was with a driver that should have been trained as such but having an attitude and being beligerant was a recipe for disaster. Oh, he listened to what you told him but I feel he was to upset at being told what to do that he chose not to do it. I'm glad you told him to get off your property they way you did. A totally unprofessional person he was. Treating a customer the way he did you was not cool nor should it go unpunished. You really handled it well Casey and I think showed some restraint. Well done!!! I'm so happy that chains were not hung up etc. and that your wrecker and trailer were not damaged. Love you video's!!
I got anxious while watching this. I have been in this situation. A half hour there only working yourself up to find out that is just someone unwilling to take responsibility for their own stupidity and not realizing how stupid they are. Then a half hour back to ruminate on that anger. Then the silent goal to have it hooked up before he was done so you can passive-aggressively wait in a subconscious attempt to be challenged. Then explode when properly cleared and assert my dominance to avoid anymore interaction. I have done this dozens of times. Never feels good. I commend you for posting.
I can’t believe a responsible trucker would let both fuel tanks run out and he did not bother stopping for at least a small amount of fuel as a backup.
When he walked under you as you were rigging, I knew that guy doesn't think very far ahead. I never even saw him look up or ask to move under you! He is an unsafe individual. You, as a professional, don't like working around unsafe people. Wise man you are.
I would have been so embarrassed running out of fuel as a professional driver. You saved his bacon. His attitude affected your attitude and ruined the experience for everyone. Missed opportunity.
You're a very nice person. I was a flat bedder for 10+ years. I'm a retired driver now. Over two million miles easy. That hot shot was a bad joke. Did NOT Trip Plan anything. Bidden would have known to plan for extra time and fuel, for what he was loaded with and where it had to go. A Swift driver would have had that much for thought. ..... What was he going to say IF he would have gotten pulled over.??? So many things wrong with what and how he did things. The moving before he checks to make sure he was cleared is just what you hit on. I've only been late for one load. EVER. That was because I did break down. I always planned for 20 gal more than I expected, from one fuel stop to the next. Old school. Perfect MVR. 22 years driving. I say again, your a nice person. The minute I found out that he ran out of fuel is the last time I would have been a little nice. That was All on the driver. The broker would have been TOLD that I will get back to him WHEN I was available to be able to be home to make the pick. Because he was on MY time now. The best he could hope for is tomorrow at one ( 1:00 PM). Believe me when I say, he would have changed you, if you had been late. (And that's a hundred dollars an hour. He would have gotten it to.) Brokers are dirty people. True story, they would want me to download some app and give up my phone number. I always asked why? And they would say I have to. I'd say then find someone else because that is not part of any deal I made. I had one broker call me six times in one hour. All because I was four hours early. And I was sitting at the job site./ Side of the road. You're a very nice guy.
Not commenting on this video, but I am watching your video of You and Grumpy recovering a white van. Grumpy took the camera and was a natural with it. We loved hearing his commentary and narration. We are glad that yall have made such good friends and we get to enjoy him some also. Thank you for the "clean" videos. We have ditched satellite and cable and just follow everyday people's videos. You are more entertaining than the dumb, sleazy stuff on "TV".
That driver has no business hauling anything other than groceries for Uber!!! The fact that he seemed like nothing he did was wrong is what got me riled up and him pulling that gooseneck out without your permission is 100% unacceptable! Good on you for making your frustration known and telling him to kick rocks, go fix your chains down on the main road! 👌
Quite a few years ago, my brother came across a semi-truck who had run out of diesel! The driver was hopping mad at the truck owner who had swore the truck was fully fueled up, and found out the second saddle tank was empty! My brother bought him twenty dollars of fuel and the driver paid for it by giving him about 100 dollars worth of heavy tie down chains the belonged to the trucks owner!
The crane operator is the #1 authority whenever suspended loads are involved. Anyone in any construction industry knows that. Nothing happens without 3 way communication with them.
I definitely would send the broker a bill Roadside fuel should be about $1.50-$3.00 more per gallon than the price paid plus your normal hook fee even though you didn't hook up
I come to youtube for the real deal, the good , the bad, and the ugly. Also the generous rescues that put joy in a bad turn of events. I have seen some very good ones.
The "good ones" include that 90 year old woman with the front end loader she needed moved into town for a repair. So charming was she that Casey made that a freebie! Both of them were winners, and the same for youtube fans.
Are you SERIOUS? That driver took a Commercial Load(how far) without even writing up a Waybill with at least the Brokers invoice number on it? HOLLY SHIT, he could have be fined by all kinds of cops for a "Hot Load" without a waybill!!!!
I live in Hurricane. [you know where that is] I'm a 72 year old disabled Vet. I'd love to meet you!. My answer is, I have run out of ffuks to give. Good vid man, keep on keepin on!
My wife did the same thing as him coming back from seeing her family way up north. Drove past at least a half a dozen gas stations with the low fuel light on. Called me to rescue her, which I was willing to do, but I was working 2.5 hours away on a job I couldn't leave. She didn't want to call a tow truck to bring gas so she sat on the side of the highway for 4 or 5 hours till I got there. She was still 80kms from the house, I'll never understand that one. There wasn't a hope in hell of making it, but she gave it a go anyway.
As a contractor I have learned to choose my battles , he drew the short straw and did nothing to calm the situation . You did good not blowing up before getting the load lifted . I can't believe he didn't tap the horn or anything before moving to get the all clear .
Casey the idea with the bed is awsome, your basicaly using your truck like a hooklift/roll-off truck with the different attachments but ist on steroids and more versatile.
I used to run wood working tools for a company. I ran out of fuel once. I left Vegas and knew that I would not make it home. So I was going to stop at Beaver. I got distracted and missed it. And that the next town I forgot that I was going on empty. By the next town I just exited. Five cars in front of me in the middle of nowhere and they took forever to get through the stop sign. I went to drive for my turn and nothing. I was able to coast off the road and walked the half mile to get ten gallons of fuel. Never had anything to do with the fuel system I didn't prime it one the first five. I then got the truck to that station and filled the tank. Why because I didn't want to have that happen ever again. And yes the ten gallons would have gotten me home. If I am in the back country and my tank gets to 1/2 I get fuel. If I think that the next town might not have diesel I get fuel. So that I don't run out. I never trust the milage the truck tells me is left. It's as good as the light that lets you know that you have 20 miles left in the tank. It only lets you know that you are already ____ out of luck. So if I saw that I had fuel to get to to my stop and now that much further. I would have gotten $20 in the town before my stop. Because wind can change fuel range fast. That $20 is what he needed to get to you. Cover your a#$. That is all that I can say. And if you do run out of fuel call. You know that you are going to be late so just let them know. Or if you have to stop and get fuel send a text and let them know. Knowing that someone is going to be late so that they can get to you is always better than not being able to get there at all.
Real life emotions good or bad is much better than fake scripted stuff and that's one of the things I like and respect about you you keep it real and truthful and that's how it should be thanks for sharing your life with us I love your videos.
What a fantastic idea. Being able to use one truck for multiple uses is a game changer and a money saver. You only have to worry about keeping one truck on the road.
The truck cost, fuel, maintenance… is CHEAP. It’s the insurance cost that’s crazy. I bet if it was not insurance costs. He would buy another semi tractor for flatbed, drive on trailer. Just use Zack semi for lift, maybe new backhoe unit.
Retired trucker here(25+ years, never ran out of fuel, ever, DIDN't LIKE some prices i had to pay, but NEVER ran out of fuel! ) ... Next time you get a load like this with an upset driver, no matter where the drop point is, tell the drive to "Drop the load right there" as he's fired, and pay the guy off for the services rendered... Hire another Truck to complete the load if its not possible to pull it yourself. I speak on this from expierence. Complainers are NOT the type of people you want representing your company(YEP, pulling your equipment is representative of your company). Complaining contractors/employee's need to be dealt with on the spot as not wanting to work for you.
That is not how that works. It is not your decision as a customer waiting on a load whether or not you fire the guy deliverin your load that is the broker's job the broker decides who delivers your load however if you hire a company directly then you can fire the driver However you still have to pay them for bringing it as far as they did otherwise they do not have to allow you to get your freight unless they are paid. I have a lot of things direct a customer and if they decide to fire me they still have to pay me before I drop their load at the location at the location they decided they didn't want my services anymore otherwise I keep their car and there's nothing they can do about it until they pay for services
From what you showed us I would say that you were remarkably calm. If only people had common sense and the ability to follow instructions. Well done Casey!
Unfortunately Common Sense is no longer Common. A few years ago when I was looking for a job. One company put in the discription for the possition - "The abiliy to have and use Common Sense." I liked the fact that they had included that for the position, then I was concerned that they had to put that in the discription for a lead Maintenance possition. How bad had it become?
Lol, Casey you were a whole lot nicer to that driver than I would have been. I also admire your admitting to your missed appointment to being your issue and not his. Far, far too many people play victim and blame everyone else when stuff goes wrong.
Wow I never knew they had two truck bodies like that, that is freaking awesome and so much cooler. This whole time I thought it was one whole truck 😂😂, never too old to learn something new.
No excuse for running out of fuel with that transfer tank onboard. No matter how high the cost of the fuel is that you come across it's always cheaper than running out.
I'm watching this video and I'm 49 seconds into the monologue from Casey worried that he sounded like a jerk with a customer. Casey, you don't have to explain anything. If you got upset or rude, your reputation buys you so much credit. Nobody for a minute would think you're being an ass. I don't even know what's coming up in this video but there's no way anybody's going to fault you. You've got a heart of gold and an awesome work ethic.
Casey, you had every right to be pissed off. I don't even do this, and I understand that when you're lifting, winching, anything, YOU are in charge! If nothing else, you have to work TOGETHER and know the plan. "Plan the work.... work the plan"
I expected it to be a lot worse from title and your intro. But once I realized he didn't know how to back up his own truck I might have decided to treat him like a special ed fourth grader just to preserve my own equipment/safety and coached him through the rest. You had more faith than I would have.
To be honest, it didn't surprise me that he had problems backing up. Casey has shown himself to do VERY well backing up, and I wouldn't expect that guy to be any near as good at it as Casey. Especially where his truck was. I also was concerned about him backing into the Zacklift.
I was thinking along the same lines. While the driver was flailing, ...I"m thinking Casey could have just let the driver park, then back the Zacklift up to the load. Hindsight is 20/20.
@@oldman6825 I load several trucks per day. Have been for 25 years. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I have not had the promised product ready for the truck when it pulled onto the yard (usually because of some equipment malfunction) I late trucks almost every day (and when I say late, it’s sometimes days) I run a tight ship. With GPS tracking on trucks these days, there is no excuse for not making appointments on a regular basis.
Casey, my wife and I were in the Auto transport business for almost 40 years. We were the brokers and some of the shit that truckers TRIED to pull on us would make you want to hurt drivers really bad. We also had 20 drivers that would drive cars to destimation mostly on the east coast . That was another bucket of worms. I'm jealous of that dude. I had to spend countless hours watching who knows how many videos to build up my hate for Casey LaDelle, and had to do it for free, and that guy gets to hate you in just a few minutes, AND he got paid for his effort.
The guy wasn’t a jerk, just trying to make a living. Having said that, he wasn’t smart, cost Casey money, time, and a customer. Also moving his truck was just insane. What was he thinking.
This whole video goes to show how good of a guy casey is. Explaining and even semi apologizing for a situation where most people would be 10x more mad.
According to your editing, sounds like you kept your cool. I totally agree with you. Running out of fuel, there is no excusefor it. Flat bedding 101 when you are with anybody else, you always verify before you move your vehicle!
He was surprised his truck used so much fuel… look at the size of that trailer and the headboard and ramps on that bed of yours, even I could have guessed😂
I'm 79 and retired (at 75). One of the jobs I had in my career was maintenance supervisor at a beneficiation plant (lots of piping, big pumps, big motors, etc.). I had 4 cranes under my supervision, all with certified operators; a 7T carryall (flat surfaced front and rear), an 18T (that could roll with a 12T load), a 65T truck crane (licensed for highway travel), and a 100T all terrain. It was a very large plant. We offloaded incoming shipments from time to time because the warehouse overhead crane was only rated at 20T, and had a limited area. In every lift, large or small or uncommon (too big for the warehouse), the responsibility for everyone involved was discussed before every lift. That driver would have been told by me or the crane operator, "Don't move until you're told to move." You expected the driver to know that already, but you didn't tell him explicitly. The drivers with whom we dealt were experienced pros, we expected them to know, but we still told them explicitly, "Don't move until you're told to move."
@@CaseyLaDelle And here I thought he was just an idiot .... well that added info just turned him into a complete idiot ( and a dangerous idiot at that )
Thanks for the lesson. I was thinking that he should back up when you had it lifted. I would have done the same 😮. Perhaps the only redemption is that I’m a baker not a delivery driver.
I’ve got a diesel sprinter van and drive the alcan frequently (often in winter). Thankfully diesel is common at stations, but I just suck up price when it’s 1/2 tank (never rely on distance remaining). Being out of fuel, out of cell range, in 20 below can be extremely dangerous.
I don't watch your channel solely for the good-feels. You record life as a heavy wrecker operator and off-road recovery. Life happens and you capture it for us. Good, bad, indifferent, there it is. You handled this one a whole lot better than I would have. As I was watching you get rhe chains, I thought to myself "that driver is not going to have paperwork" sure enough.....technically that bed never got delivered, right? Wonder if those logs ever got delivered or that purchaser had to take him gas too.
I can't believe that the first words out of the driver weren't a fulsome apology and thanks for coming out.
And a c-note for running him fuel.
He didn't even thank Casey for the free fuel.
Just keep doing what you're doing, buddy. I don't blame you.I'd have been worse.

When your job is to haul cargo, it’s not the cargos fault you don’t have fuel. It’s the drivers fault.
😅
Yep that's like eating a pound of cheese... A real no shitter.
Casey, your idea of the modular towtruck is BRILLIANT !
So apparently the broker heard a different version of this story where the driver says that I was the problem. What do you think??
Video evidence is a bitch for people who like to blame others for their problems, haha
Give him a I Hate Casey LaDelle tshirt....
Not at all... He was not fit for service! 😉
Send him the tow bill
Video proof that the hotshot driver was 100% at fault for delaying delivery. AND.. screwing your customers
I agree!
Totally concur. Deduct it from his delivery fee.
If your fuel gauge is broken, still showing a quarter and you run out of fuel for that reason, does it count as a breakdown?
Hi there mate they send dickheads who don't understand you when trying to your job and get your trailer mate and your right you got to go off mate
I can tell this isn't reality TV because there isn't dramatic music in the background and camera angles changing every 5 minuets. Nice work keeping it honest.
Casey forgot you need to treat hotshots like small toddlers who were given bank loans for their truck, but never given a competency test.
Before I retired, I had an NCCCO Crane Operator and Signalman license for a 18 ton boom truck. You were really, really nice. I would have given hell and gave him explicit directions how to get there!

I'd put most of the blame on the broker. Especially if they ever use this clown again.
Nce I am positioned you can unstrap this side while I hook up.”
If they are operating equipment. “Hands OFF controls” make them understand until I step clear you don’t touch a control.

This is the best comment on this video I have read so far.
Kind internet stranger, this comment made hit me hard. Great advice, I'll try to remember it.
Best advice ever on the internet.
He's yo nice guy

My boss ran out of gas 4 miles from the shop. He was coming from over 200 miles away . He was in his company car and had a company credit card. He said he was just trying to see if he could make it. He had his wife with him. She had throughly chewed his butt before I got there. I just laughed as I put gas in. I never told anyone ‘cause I didn’t want anybody to think my boss was a dummy. He actually did have a lot of common sense but not so much that day.
I’ve done that with a gas can in the vehicle if your going to do something like that at least have a backup the first time
Sounds like a Seinfeld episode featuring Kramer and Newman.
I had an old boss who would have told that guy. "Sounds like a YOU problem, NOT a ME problem!" When he was,"broke down. " 🤭
Exactly what this person said. You did exactly what was needed, including dismissing the idiot (multiple problems with said idiot).
I don't understand running out of fuel anymore when your gas gauge works. You can search the location of almost all gas stations, which fuel they have, and their current price.

the crane operator ALWAYS is the boss, you were correct in chastising him.

"Stupid is as stupid does'!

Casey I would have had more to say to the giy, You were right and in great control. Thanks and GOD BLESS YOU and YOURS.
I truly don’t blame you for being upset. I was a flat bedder for 6 out of my 14 years of driving and some people just don’t get it.

One company put in the discription for the possition - "The abiliy to have and use Common Sense."
I liked the fact that they had included that for the position, then I was concerned that they had to put that in the discription for a lead Maintenance possition.
I don’t know how you stayed so calm I would definitely not have been that calm he would have gotten a ear full at the least

I was worried he was going to hit the @Zacklift before he was parked!!
Here is my take
Drivers lie
Dispatchers lie
Brokers lie.
The less people you deal with, the more likely you will get what you need on time.
And customer s lie
@@oldman6825 I load several trucks per day. Have been for 25 years.
I can count on 1 hand the number of times I have not had the promised product ready for the truck when it pulled onto the yard (usually because of some equipment malfunction)
I late trucks almost every day (and when I say late, it’s sometimes days)
I run a tight ship.
With GPS tracking on trucks these days, there is no excuse for not making appointments on a regular basis.
“Poor planning on your part does not create emergencies on mine.”
What total Mickey Mouse hot shot/broker nonsense! You are 100% justified in that interaction with those fools 😂
Sorry you had a bad day. I really appreciate you looking at what your side of the situation was. I could stand to do the same more often.
We are now retired in Upstate NY and love watching your trials and tribulations. Keep your head up my friend
I'm jealous of that dude. I had to spend countless hours watching who knows how many videos to build up my hate for Casey LaDelle, and had to do it for free, and that guy gets to hate you in just a few minutes, AND he got paid for his effort.
okay.. now that was funny. well worth reading the comments for.
🤔😳😂😂😂
😂
🥴
I'm glad I'm not the only one.
The guy wasn’t a jerk, just trying to make a living. Having said that, he wasn’t smart, cost Casey money, time, and a customer. Also moving his truck was just insane. What was he thinking.
Hotshot driver was possibly inexperienced. The fuel situation was just stupid though. That's a rookie mistake.
He was a jerk. He never said sorry, thank you, or anything a not a jerk would say.
The delivery driver was an idiot. You’re 100% right
That broker was 100% stunned
That driver would have been told by me or the crane operator, "Don't move until you're told to move."
You expected the driver to know that already, but you didn't tell him explicitly. The drivers with whom we dealt were experienced pros, we expected them to know, but we still told them explicitly, "Don't move until you're told to move."
He was told…
Turn grumpy lose on them. lol
We all have bad days. I hope you both have better ones...
Zacklift is awesome! The team or person who came up with that is a mechanical genius!
Lol that dude was like what did i do wrong clueless dudes going to hurt someone
