Fighting game aficionado here: Most of the things you were picking up on were spot-on. Gon's assist did seem to have armor. 'Overgear' is like spark from DBFZ, yes, the idea, at least to my knowledge, started in Marvel v Capcom- so these guys are going to have it in their game.
Also those guys playing arent randos- those three dudes are JP fighting game gods lmao
Edit: Oh and supers go as follows: Lvl 1, lvl2, lvl 3, and depending on the character and game- Lvl 5 & lvl 7
So about Gon not taking damage/flinching from Hisoka when Killua calls him out, I believe that is called "SUPER ARMOR" where the only thing that breaks it is a grab or ultimate. This is prominent in the fighting games where if a move needs to charge up and has big wind-up, the developer gives these moves a super armor status where they can't be flinched just to compensate with the slow attack. The thing is, in DBFZ, none of the assists had super armor so that's what made him surprised

@@Jiggonomics then the inspiration by putting super armors in assist might not come from DBFZ, in MVC2 some assist has super armor. Though, Gon assist having super armor is a bit off for me, because it is not lore accurate, in the manga/anime, when he winds-up his attack is where he is the most vulnerable. I guess that kind of mechanic won't make the cut for Gon in a fighting game that's why they make him this way.

Hyper armor is a term used for increased hit tolerance before getting stagggered, stunned, knocked back/down etc.

At first when I saw this I had just woke up so it looked super bad to me, looking back I am very exited for this game as an HxH fan.

The gameplay looks so good I expected it from the MvC devs I do wish the game looked better graphically but the gameplay matters more than anything and in that aspect it looks great

Ngl…. Might be an unpopular opinion but this looks fucking terrible. I think because I’m comparing it to games like ninja storm and fighterz, but those are the minimum standard when it comes to anime fighting games and this just doesn’t hit that standard imo

This looks pretty low budget to be honest, but hey, it is a Hunter X Hunter game, those are rare enough as is so I hope it'll be good. One of the best anime of all time.

I love how different each character looks gameplay wise and how they incorporate multiple moves from the show. The roster looks a bit small for a 3v3. I just hope they add more to the base game and not just dlc. Promising gameplay tho and I'm very excited. it's very similar to Marvel vs Capcom.

The gameplay reminds me of Capcom vs Tatsunoko more than DBZF or Marvel vs Capcom, that game was pretty fun in it's own way so I hope this one is too.
But honestly it does look like a 3DS game being upscaled on Citra lol, as long as it plays well that's fine I guess, better than nothing. Also it better not be full price, that would be goofy.
