Yeah don't know how one cam say "it looks like a switch game" when smash ultimate is right there. A fighting game that's able to handle 8 players at a time on very detailed, sometimes huge stages in addition to any additional resources going to items, bosses, pokemon, and assist trophies. And that character count jumps to 16 if all 8 pick ice climbers.

I honestly want this game to succeed enough to send a message that anime fighting games can work, tired of having 3D arena anime fightsrs. I know graphically it looks bad, but the gameplay looks so damn fun, I've been wanting a fighting game for HxH for so long and I hope that more anime games turn into 2D fighters instead of 3D arena fighters
@@ThallesNinjaDbfz was never gonna be the norm and DB is in another dimension to HxH. If small games move away from the awful arena fighter shovel ware that would be great
Keep in mind, the reason why Arena Fighters have such a bad reputation in the first place is precisely that most of them aren't done with enough budget or care put into faithfully adaptating the source. It's not a coincidence that the only arena fighters that avoid that (putting one's personal tastes in gaming aside), the Naruto and DB series are the one that put a lot of attention into the source materials and are given a good budget. If they start making 2d fighters, but still have the same issue, sure it might catter a bit more to someone who like 2d fighters, but aside from that they'd still be mediocre manga/anime games. The problem wouldn't be solved. And DBFZ would remain the only one "that did it right" the same way Budokai remain the only one that did Arena Fighter right (again, personal tastes aside, not everyone like every type of game, but personal taste and game quality are a different issue.)
@@GinkgoPete Arena fighters are the perfect platform for anime games. They're simple, flashy and casual fun, made to appeal to the fans of the anime, not a specific subset of fans residing within an already specific community. FighterZ only exists because Dragon Ball is massive, to the point where catering to a small portion of its fanbase is still economically viable. But there's a reason why Budokai Tenkaichi 2-3 are the games everyone fondly remembers. Expecting a high quality 2D fighter from generic shonen anime is basically asking a company to sink themselves. There will be no profit.
@@emperormegaman3856that’s exactly what I’ve been saying. All these people parroting “at least it’s not an arena fighter” as if that’ll automatically make it a good game. Ignoring the fact the biggest anime games were arena fighters. Seems like cope to me.
Can't wait to play this on my PSP, I hope it gets a DS port too. Could also be sick on a dream cast with its built in dial up modem for multi-player, just gotta find some one who still offers dial up internet.
I know you're joking but if you want to play Dreamcast online with it's modem, you just need a line voltage inducer. a lot of game servers have been reverse engineered and are playable now If you're interested, look up "Dreampi"
I found out years ago that visual presentation is very important for fighting games Fighting games with good art direction, visual style, camera works, etc have better player retention since those kind of stuff improve playing and watching experience
That's mostly because visual excitement (and visual clarity) helps a lot in understanding what's going on even if you're part of a casual audience. I still remember when I brought UMvC3 to a birthday party filled with non-gamers or casual gamers and everyone having had fun watching hype moments happening while the players effectively pushed buttons. That got carried because MvC3 still has a strong art direction which feels missing from Nen Impact, sadly.
I honestly wish kite is in the game as like a random stance character (he has in the manga 9 possible weapons and we have seen only 3. It works like a roulette, he activates his ability and it gives him a random weapon)
If this launches for over 40 bucks, it's gonna be dead on arrival unfortunately. Even that may be too much for people with how the game looks. I wasn't expecting it to look amazing, but damn I'd have spent so much money on a game even half as good looking as FighterZ. I looooooooooove Hunter x Hunter, so it's a bummer this is the best we're gonna get. It 100% could have been big with a proper budget.
@@DANCERcowand it was a beautiful game at the time, this is showing PS2 graphics, most player will happily spend 30$ more for another game if this is what you get for 40 bucks
I can't believe dev companies haven't realised that Fighting games are one of the few genres where graphics have to be on par, if not better than the gameplay, otherwise it will be a commercial disaster!
A lot of the characters in HxH would be pretty wild if adapted accurately to the source. Even just with Kurapika in the main roster here, he has moves that he's usually only allowed to use against very specific characters or else he'd die outright. From footage we've seen it looks like at least one super just kinda...stops partway and doesn't seem as flashy as the others, so I'm betting on them just making his moves do more damage to those specific characters. But obviously that would kind of ruin balance in a way that isn't fun (like how every One Piece game doesn't let Sanji hit women) so I don't know how far they'll go. I really want to see Knuckle in here. He looks like a Japanese delinquent whose power is based around...bankruptcy. Basically, he attacks you and loans you energy and if you can't pay back that debt he takes no damage from the attack and eventually your own powers get sealed if you let the "interest" accrue too high. I'd love to see how they'd handle that in a game like this. I'm sure this game's not able to go as crazy as they'd like with that comically low budget, so I'll just be grateful with what we get....provided it isn't full price.
Yeah fr, i noticed the bungee gum mechanics look mad cool. I just wish they improved animation cause the anime/manga is always super over the top and expressive.
It's not even about the graphics fidelity, it's art direction. A cheap creative project can look good with a small budget because the art director had a clear, inspired vision for it. This does not look like someone passionate about the license was in charge of the visuals.
If this game drops at a full 60/70 Dollars while 2xko potentially comes out at the same time being free to play, that would be insane. But if this game drops for like 20-25 bucks with a little 5-10 dollar season pass of characters once a year for 2 or 3 years, I could see it being really successful
It isn't just the graphics, its the menus and 2D art. It looks like The World Ends With You, and that's not in a complimentary way, it's in a 'super thick outlines that make the game look like it's early gamecube' kinda way.
@@StarDragonJP that would be a good start but I want to play as all the characters from the Spirit Detective arc to the Three Kings arc. Ankoku Bojutsukai 120% came close by making Sensui and even Rando and Gouki playable in a game that was centered around the Dark Tournament but I want an all out dream match that spans the entire series. I never got to see what all Zeru could do because Hiei one shot him. Some of Suzuka's many moves were displayed in the cinematic games for the Super Famicom but I'd love further expansion on what a character who has learned many techniques can do. Yu Yu Hakusho FINAL for the Super Famicom was EXCELLENT but only really covered the Sensui arc and Three Kings. Hell, I'd even take another cinematic-style game like Tokubetsu Hen on the Super Famicom. Somebody do that but with today's technology and more characters and BOOM. Instant classic.
What I really don't like about what I'm seeing is that the characters don't feel like they have a personality, their kit kinda reflects what's in HxH but not *really* like, it feels they're fighting games character that have a HxH coat of paint added on top of them rather than deep thoughts being put on how to make these HxH character into fighting game characters if that make sense? Like, netero... doesn't fight like netero at all? You'd expect him to summon all those hands and be a hellish zoner to deal with that just stand there and is unreachable, but instead he just kinda jumps around and kicks you. Kilua has lightning and yoyo but instead of making it so his ultimate technique actually affects stuff related to his speed and reactions like in the show it's just an attack. It could have been a cool install but nah... Hisoka is just kinda flailing around instead of laying down traps that limit the opponent movement and doing some weird stuff. Hell you could have some more focus on how nen works, like having your health be very low but having a shield bar that's your aura that your opponent has to deplete to hurt you, but you can use diverse universal options that affect how it works. Like, one of the big things in HxH is that if you concentrate your aura you can hurt your opponent directly unless they focus their aura on defense, but if you get hit in that state you're pretty much dead. That could be a really cool fighting game dynamic. That might be a bit extreme and experimental but that's just an idea. At least have *something* that makes you say "ha yes it's an HxH game and it couldn't be anything else", kinda how dragonball fighterZ has stuff like the super dash, the ki blasts and the teleport thingy that all feel very dragonball, even if you changed the characters if you kept the same systems you'd be like "this game feels like dragonball". Here it's really not the case. So yeah, not super exciting
I think they don't get the money to test new interesting and innovative mechanics. It's easier and cheaper to do what the studio already do well and I think that's why they've been hired. But yeah I totally agree, it feel like Marvel vs Capcom with a HxH skin. Just hoping it wouldn't be too expensive. I was making a HxH fighting game (it's now on pause but) and need some feedbacks. If you wanna try tell me
I half agree. I also wish the meter was more like nen and also instead of overgear we could get a different more nen based mechanic. What I will say is that even there normals are all anime reference and killua does have an install to at not only effects his speed but even changes his dash to having a hitbox
@@SheionVIDS Oh good for the install! The footage I've seen all look very samey, I think in particular seeing how netero fights was the most disappointing to me.
The trailer models looked ass and now the in game models look ass. I'm not surprised. 16 Characters on a 3v3 game tho? Oof. Hope they plan on supporting them game but otherwise looks fun
Definitely worth checking out the anime if you're interested, it's a classic. Same guy who did yuyu hakusho, if you remember that from the toonami days.
I'm in the camp that this is an extremely rare occurrence in the way that you talked about so I'm more worried lol. This game definitely looks like it's early on in development, so I would hope that it's at least a year out. In terms of whether or not I think it shows off the characters from the series well, I will say I'm not a huge fan of how things seem to be turning out. The characters don't really seem expressive in their own ways for one: some others have already said it in the comments, but the animations in particular are lacking. Another HUGE gripe I have with the very few times HxH has been adapted into a fighting game is that they treat something that happens to Gon (the kid that's moving like Bardock) as a Super when it's an extremely traumatizing event in the series; I get that it's iconic, but it feels like it's in bad taste when it's treated as an epic power up. Besides that, definitely check the series out! It's one of my all time favorites. So much of its appeal is more of an emotional core than just WOW COOL FIGHTS.
I think you raise a good point about the price point. Dropping this for $60-$70 dollars and whatever “season-pass” type thing that might come along with it for future DLC is tone-deaf. Making a small game for a smaller price would make HxH much more enticing.
love hxh was hyped for the game and i’m bummed. haven’t played mvc but only thing that peaked my interest was killuas godspeed install looking decent. hope it looks a bit better on release and hope its around the prices u mentioned.
I won't argue that gameplay is the heart a fighting game, it absolutely is... But if you think about the games that are considered all times greats, I think you'll be hard pressed to think of one that was considered ugly/had bad presentation for the time it came out. Not all games age in the same way, granted. SFIV, for one, has aged a lot worse then say, Third Strike or CVS2. But none of these games were ugly when they came out. That might be indicative of how presentation IS also important.
FINALLY SOMEONE NOTICES ABOUT THE ANIMATION IN 8ING GAMES. You're not hallucinating, 8ing has been using a lot of these animations since the Bloody Roar series. I'm not kidding, they are that old. They just kept using them in games like Gamecube Naruto games, and Tatsunoko, and Marvel 3. I'm glad that people are finally starting to call them out for it because it's been kind of ridiculous seeing them get away with it for so long. Of course then you've got Arika doing pretty much the same thing, reusing old SFEX animations in FEXL. Both these companies are indie developers in everything but status now.
It's not an arena fighter. That is enough, we should support it otherwise it'll send the message that non arena fighter anime games don't sell. Naruto Storm and the Demon Slayer game look great! Amazing! Both play like shit! Is that better? I'll take an ugly looking game if it plays great. The gaming community LOVES to say "I don't play graphics" and graphics don't matter, time to show that it's not just BS you say for likes.
Im gonna be real, hating on this its useless considering theres no release date and the game could even come out in 2 years or a year and a half so yeah the graphics dont look good but obvs they dont, its entirely unfinished, we are missing a very long time before release, i just believe jmcrofts that we should wait before saying anything, everyone that played said that it was amazing and very fun to play, so lets give it time to improve graphic wise
Pretty delusional to think that anything is going to significantly change with the graphics. Maybe a prettier looking combo counter or some other UI stuff. But this game looks fine, maybe some ugly win screens, adult gon up close kinda sus, but mid match this game looks fine. Looks like every other game they've made.
$650,000 is insane, like even if you pay all your developers 50k salaries, and 50k on the license, advertising, office space, servers and game engine combined. On a fast 2 year development cycle that leaves you with 6 developers! And that is with very conservative estimates on how much you are paying people, and the other costs of the game (the license alone could be 50k-100k lol) as well as the fastest development cycle I think they could be using (lf they were on a shorter than 2 year cycle then with the game at this state they would have announced a release date I feel, plus a short cycle doesn’t make sense for a new franchise, longer cycles with less people are generally cheaper).
I agree that full price would be a hard sell, it looks like something I might be interested in, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay more than 40 bucks for it at the absolute max. Depends on whether there's a story mode I suppose, I could be sold on a story mode for HxH for sure!
Fans: Plz don't be an arena fighter. PLEASE 8ing: Don't worry it won't. Fans: FINALLY! Cant wait! *sees the gameplay after a few months* This looks rough even for a beta. wtf 8ing: This isn't the beta. Already past that
5:42 I've never heard this term before, one button game. Is it similar to 2XKO's deal? I've heard Core-A gaming talk about Rising thunder and Fantasy Strike's mechanics. I find the whole topic really interesting and would love an in depth look at games of that type if this is what the term refers to
I don't event think looking bad is that big of a deal. My problem is looking bad and having a small roster. This is a 3v3 fighter by a AA studio. If its going to look like scrap launch with more characters.
This feels like it will have a similar problem to nick all stars brawl where they have licenses, the dev actually cares and the game has good mechanics but the graphics make it look like shovelware and so most people will believe its shovelware even though the actual game is well made which is a shame
I have to commend you for the video about this game. You clearly put effort and thought in your video, and I learned a lot from it. It's certainly greatly better than the 10+ 'reaction' type videos that felt like useless and a waste of time. So thank you, and I hope you keep up the good work!
This game really looks like a reskin of Tatsunoko vs Capcom. Part of me feels like it is bonkers if they took the effort to develop a new game from their old game engine to a new platform like the switch, but at the same time the game is too similar for it to just be a remade game engine. With the context you gave it makes sense why it looks like it's from 2010. I think, having watched HunterXHunter, the stiff way the characters look works for a few of the more gangly characters but most, including the lead, don't really translate the motions of the original anime all that well in this style. The 2d portraits look iffy, I think they could easily use better art for that, but the stage backgrounds look quite good if not a bit empty.
Honestly all they need to is make the Visual effects a bit prettier and consider the giving a subtle ink outlining effect (actual subtle, not something heavy like TvC or MvC) and that would make it look x10 better.
When ever someone says TvC is old school I feel so old but I am still in my early 30s. Still wild that those games came out 15 years ago. Time really does fly.
A question for HxH fans (I haven't seen it). Do you think the property lends itself to 3x3 fighting game. Is it appropriate theming for what the story is? I ask because, as much as I love DBFZ, I was always struck by how the choice of an assist game is thematically weird for Dragonball... Well, it worked out in the end regardless, but its funny.
As cool as it is that Skullgirls was so transparent with their development costs, it's not fair to use them as a metric because they were also absurdly mismanaged and wasteful with their budget.
Huh, were they? I'm not very tuned in to whatever behind the scenes stuff was going on in there, but if you feel like indulging a late commenter is there a video / article somewhere that discusses it? Or is it more stuff that's been heard throigh the grapevine?
I truly recommand wathing Hunter x Hunter, one of the rare animes we can call "perfect" However, if the game releases at full price, casual audience won't buy it (graphics, roster size...), the game would die super fast and other publisher would stay on the lazy arena fighter formula, because it's cheap, reproductible, safe. When we have a licenced anime game made with heart, the problem comes from the publisher... I PRAY for the game to sell well, the industry really needs it.
So far, the majority of fighting game content creators apparently haven't watched Hunter X Hunter. Maybe you could all plan some kind of video together of your reactions before and after watching some episodes? Might be cool!
It would be kind of silly if some small details of the source material made it over to the fighting game. Like if Kurapika ko's anyone who isn't part of a certain villain group with his chain attack(s), he too gets KO'd
Dragonball FighterZ was a great looking tag fighter. The visuals being so nice definitely drew a lot of casual Dragon Ball fans in and got them excited for a more traditional fighting game
I won’t be too worried about the visuals. I’d expect the final version of the character models to look like they do in the character select screen. On the character select screen everyone has this water color look to them, and brush stroke black outlines. I think how the characters portraits look is what the character will end up looking like in-game. That brush stroke motif is in some of the font for stuff like “Ready” “GO!” font at the start of a match, and the “VS” font before the round starts.
Man... I just need some more explosive effects and animations and it would be good enough for me. The special attacks look bland. I want to see Gon punch a guy and be reminded of his punch on Neferpitou.
Honestly i wouldn’t mind waiting an extra year or two if they took the time to clean up the artstyle, give the fame UI some flavor, and make the animations better
I understand they didn’t habe the budget, but no matter how good of an explanation you have for how bad your game looks, it’s still looking like shit, and most people won’t ever try it for that reason alone And you might say : Well I’m here for the gameplay so it doesn’t matter anyway. Two problems : First, even people that spend a tremendous amount of time playing competitively love decent graphics, otherwise it may be harder to justify spending so much time on a single game. Secondly, a majority of the audience will mind, whether it’s your case or not, and if the game sales poorly, it won’t last enough for you to « enjoy the gameplay ». They should have focused on a brand new IP if having the HxH skin ment having greasy PS2 rendering for lack of money
No way the budget is only 100 million yen. HxH is a huge IP. It’s one of Shonen Jump’s most popular titles. They’re gonna put at least enough money into it to make sure all the unlockable characters are as good as the ones we saw in this preview.
gameplay wise, it looks fun as hell. graphics may improve after the feedback but my main question since the title was introduced was why hunter hunter. don't get me wrong, I like the series but I would've thought one piece or even bleach would have gotten a fighting game before hunter hunter.
I never understood when Capcom never tried to get with shonen jump, to make Capcom Vs shonen jump. Like everyone watches and knows about shonen animes like Jojos, one piece, Dragon ball, Hunter x Hunter, and Naruto so on. Everyone would play it.
One pet peeve I have is that lore/storywise, Netero (the old guy) would sweep the floor with everyone's ass even if they tried to fight him together (at least with the ones shown). Netero should have been like the semi-last boss who you needed to fight 3v1. I am thinking Meruem would have been the last boss.
The character models are pretty accurate, but they do look almost dead. A few areas where the characters mouths should be moving but they're not. Id say the attacks looks kinda sluggish or they just lack impact. I really want the game to be good and im hopeful for it. I love this IP and i know they still have some developement time left. Love to see some improvements from where theyre at not but it does look promising
Very interesting share, I think the budget part is impossible for a fighting game. Bushiroad is the publisher, which means they manage things mostly on distributing, localizing, and marketing. The budget strategy could be only true to the games they develop by their own I think.
As a hxh fan and umvc3 spectator. I say the character portraits well but it should be crazier. After all its a low budget and no motion input game i'll gladly take what we have now.
One of my favorite shonen manga turned into a fighting game by one of my favorite devs. To see it gets so much negative attention because of graphics, it hurts man. like sure fine, support the top companies and enjoy microtransations up the ass cause the graphics are pretty.
I’m still really excited for it. The art style doesn’t really bother me that much, but I do hope the animations get smoothed out some. The roster is definitely not big enough though if that’s the final number. I’m just hoping it’s still early and they can at least remedy some of that. I’m still going to wait and see what it looks like later this year before I really create an opinion.
The artstyle doesn't bother me too much but the animations do. It feels like none of the characters have distinct personalities.

I know graphically it looks bad, but the gameplay looks so damn fun, I've been wanting a fighting game for HxH for so long and I hope that more anime games turn into 2D fighters instead of 3D arena fighters
FighterZ: I don't exist
I know you're joking but if you want to play Dreamcast online with it's modem, you just need a line voltage inducer. a lot of game servers have been reverse engineered and are playable now
If you're interested, look up "Dreampi"
LMFAOOOO
ICANT
😂
Nah dude the dreamcast had broadband you could play quake 3 on that.
Honestly you look way better bald. You’re one of those guys
I found out years ago that visual presentation is very important for fighting games
Fighting games with good art direction, visual style, camera works, etc have better player retention since those kind of stuff improve playing and watching experience
@@AstonWildsteelYeah the dark shading comic-like Artstyle carries hard
. . . I'm going to get a lot of backlash from H×H fans, but i literally thought i saw Phoenix Wright
Actually no HxH fan will be upset by this characterization
Phoenix but with Satoru sunglasses
Na, that's basically Leorio anyways 😂
Close enough. But he's Royal Pains, not Suits.
nah literally, I saw the auto play before clicking and was like "oh shit, new marvel?"
Wasnt interested in this game until TvC was mentioned
Tatsunoko was great
Still looks like garbage and 8ting games are kusoges. Rather have a new bloody roar
@@666slateran666 bruh 8ing games are goated stop being edgy
@@666slateran666Looks are all that matter to you?
@@666slateran666 I want a new Bloody Roar too but 8ing don't own it. Konami's the one sitting on it, letting no games come out.
I honestly wish kite is in the game as like a random stance character (he has in the manga 9 possible weapons and we have seen only 3. It works like a roulette, he activates his ability and it gives him a random weapon)
I'm sure he'll be in the game, but what he'll play like is yet to be seen.
And which stance he gets is random, offset by how strong they'd be
Good news. He's confirmed
You’re spoiled by Arcsys.
Though tbh, we kinda all are.
Street fighter alpha 2 launched at $70 on SNES lol
@@DANCERcowand it was a beautiful game at the time, this is showing PS2 graphics, most player will happily spend 30$ more for another game if this is what you get for 40 bucks
@@Wolfedge75I certainly haven't. I don't think releasing a AAA fully priced fighting game with a 16 character roster is acceptable.
@@DANCERcow was good looking for the time + video games weren't as mainstream, the more volume you can expect to sell the cheaper it is (or should be)
I can't believe dev companies haven't realised that Fighting games are one of the few genres where graphics have to be on par, if not better than the gameplay, otherwise it will be a commercial disaster!
I think the gameplay looks good. Its the presentations and polish that need work
5:27 Of both rubber AND gum?
Yeah fr, i noticed the bungee gum mechanics look mad cool. I just wish they improved animation cause the anime/manga is always super over the top and expressive.
😂😂😂I'm not the only one
2:20 that stagger animation is so UMVC3
Can we get this but for Togashi's other anime? We haven't gotten a proper YYH game since the PS2 days
Or at least maybe Yusuke as DLC
I was really surprised this is shaping up to be a 2D tag fighter and not an arena-based game. Looks interesting.
it mostlikely not having crossplay will be the death of it
Give it a month or two, it'll be dead
@@Laezar1 yeah I agree with that but there is a chance that if the game succeeds he can get a better kit as the game goes on

That Killua lightning smite goes hard

Bruh I didnt 😂
The roster it's the problem
Effort and a bigger budget
The trailer models looked ass and now the in game models look ass. I'm not surprised.
16 Characters on a 3v3 game tho? Oof. Hope they plan on supporting them game but otherwise looks fun
@@shadowofdimentio4618 It’s definitely a small roster… for a 3v3 game.
If it’s 2v2 then it’s just fine
Thing is the fixed camera makes it look really odd, static and widespread
God, TvC just looks like such a better game, despite being a Wii title from 15 years ago
Damn they got pheonix wright
Wow you're corny, this game looks like its the truth.
@Draggzilla it's a gamecube game and looks like it plays on nunchucks. 8ing is washed
As someone that does not play online at all, the only thing that concerns me is the roster size and the offline content.
FghterZ works fine on Switch and toaster PCs, so this definitely feels like a budget thing, not a deliberate choice.
Do people not want an HxH game that plays like an HxH game? This looks like TvC with a skin.
But as fighting games fans we like gameplay before presentation
Speak for yourself. I like both.
Nah gameplay all day
Fighting games need both imo
FG fans don’t care about graphics, but style is a huge part of a game making it.
The only thing I'm concerned about is a small roster and most importantly - will it have regional pricing on Steam?
Both these companies are indie developers in everything but status now.
i feel like the gameplay is gonna be really fun
It's not an arena fighter. That is enough, we should support it otherwise it'll send the message that non arena fighter anime games don't sell.
Naruto Storm and the Demon Slayer game look great! Amazing! Both play like shit! Is that better? I'll take an ugly looking game if it plays great.
The gaming community LOVES to say "I don't play graphics" and graphics don't matter, time to show that it's not just BS you say for likes.
Your logic is completely backwards
But Z Fighters sold. That should be proof enough
Looks at naruto storm with no dedicated balance team looks at hunterxhunter game . Yep great comparison. 😅
We shouldn't support bad things just because it's different from the other bad things.
If you like it go for it
I’m not touching it though
I just saw J wong’s extended gameplay and I have to say that they polishing it little by little
as a HxH and kusoge fan what a time to be alive
Im gonna be real, hating on this its useless considering theres no release date and the game could even come out in 2 years or a year and a half so yeah the graphics dont look good but obvs they dont, its entirely unfinished, we are missing a very long time before release, i just believe jmcrofts that we should wait before saying anything, everyone that played said that it was amazing and very fun to play, so lets give it time to improve graphic wise
Based opinion and Based PFP as well
I hope you're right...
@@dragoonhayes thank you
Pretty delusional to think that anything is going to significantly change with the graphics. Maybe a prettier looking combo counter or some other UI stuff. But this game looks fine, maybe some ugly win screens, adult gon up close kinda sus, but mid match this game looks fine. Looks like every other game they've made.
But why show gameplay then? To worry fans that it maybe suck balls? I don't think it's gonna be that different to release.
PLEASE
8ing: Don't worry it won't.
Fans: FINALLY! Cant wait! *sees the gameplay after a few months* This looks rough even for a beta. wtf
8ing: This isn't the beta. Already past that
The blast from the past was worth clicking on this video. Good video as always, JM
5:42 I've never heard this term before, one button game. Is it similar to 2XKO's deal? I've heard Core-A gaming talk about Rising thunder and Fantasy Strike's mechanics. I find the whole topic really interesting and would love an in depth look at games of that type if this is what the term refers to
Look at the CC2 Naruto fighting games - the early, 2D ones. That's a 1 button fighting game series.
Looking at the size difference between characters, there are gonna be a lot of character specific combos.
I have to commend you for the video about this game. You clearly put effort and thought in your video, and I learned a lot from it. It's certainly greatly better than the 10+ 'reaction' type videos that felt like useless and a waste of time. So thank you, and I hope you keep up the good work!
I love the IP and it’s giving me some serious MvC3 Nostalgia. If they sell it for 40-50$ on release I might be playing day 1
This game really looks like a reskin of Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
This is probably the first (in a while a longggg while) time wex have gotten an actual anime fighter that wasn't an arena fighter,
This is the first time in years I've seen demo for a Japanese fighting game and thought that doesn't look or sounds finished.
Damn that was quite a jumpscare, his hair migrated from his head to his chin since then 💀
i like to call this phenomena "hair gravity"
the hair sinks down from the top of the head to the bottom
That budget doesn't even seem like enough to pay the people making it.
I wasn’t expecting Fighters level graphics, but I was at least hoping for a little more. Can’t wait to try it though.
Honestly all they need to is make the Visual effects a bit prettier and consider the giving a subtle ink outlining effect (actual subtle, not something heavy like TvC or MvC) and that would make it look x10 better.
I love conversations about balance not being the end all be all of fun. It's true even in PvP games.
When ever someone says TvC is old school I feel so old but I am still in my early 30s. Still wild that those games came out 15 years ago. Time really does fly.
And that game still looks better than hxh smh...
I like it. As a HUGE MvC and TvC fan, I have high hopes for what this can turn into.
I truly recommand wathing Hunter x Hunter, one of the rare animes we can call "perfect"
However, if the game releases at full price, casual audience won't buy it (graphics, roster size...), the game would die super fast and other publisher would stay on the lazy arena fighter formula, because it's cheap, reproductible, safe.
I remember I used to play this game all the time after school. I was the best no one could beat me
0:38-0:48 if you wanna see jmcrofts with anime hair 😂
The combos and art style are cool but it moves like paper Mario or something
¥6758 is cheaper in today’s market. SF6 was ¥7990 and Tekken 8 was ¥9680 on release.
Also, if you pull up the currency conversion in a search engine, that comes to just over $40, in other words exactly what JMC was hoping for.
I understand they didn’t habe the budget, but no matter how good of an explanation you have for how bad your game looks, it’s still looking like shit, and most people won’t ever try it for that reason alone
And you might say : Well I’m here for the gameplay so it doesn’t matter anyway.
So was demon slayer and JJk and look what happend
gameplay wise, it looks fun as hell. graphics may improve after the feedback but my main question since the title was introduced was why hunter hunter. don't get me wrong, I like the series but I would've thought one piece or even bleach would have gotten a fighting game before hunter hunter.
JMCROFTS w hair is a true cursed image
Looking at 19 year old JM makes me realize the man was destined to be a Krillin player
He could have a boss mode. But this is a fighting game, going off of power scaling makes those games bad
The frame rate is really holding it down. Hopefully it runs at higher fps at launch
What are you yapping about its 60fps
One of my favorite shonen manga turned into a fighting game by one of my favorite devs. To see it gets so much negative attention because of graphics, it hurts man. like sure fine, support the top companies and enjoy microtransations up the ass cause the graphics are pretty.
The new footage makes it look way better! IT was switch footage before
I’m still really excited for it.
