Yeah because otherwise it would be a complete contradiction. Still doesn't explain how Morel and Razor (two nen users who have YEARS of experience), would still be in the same league as nen users such as say child Gon or Shizuku. That doesn't make sense to me. I'd definitely put Razor and Morel one spot higher. They're too old with too many years just to be great and excellent.
@@wadewilson8011 this ranking is not about how powerful they are it's about their potential and that terrifies me even more because with all of that power they still haven't got to their full potential, not even close
@@wadewilson8011 if u want an easy explaination here it is: Morel is an excellent nen user but he is manipulator. Still, his ability to change aura into smoke or something like that is transmuter which is way beyond his part. If he only focused on manipulating smoke instead with more affection/motivation to it such as adult Gon's insane condition for such power or that conjurer's extreme devotion to his ability, he would be higher.
@@wadewilson8011 this is the same as kastro when wing explained it in york new. Kastro is an enhancer but uses manipulator and conjurer abilities, far from his own category. If he is ranked here, he would also be great.
IKR. Adding that AND that Nanika IS from the Dark Continent really adds to the speculation on the nature of Nen. "Animals" like the Calamities on the Dark Continent being able to use Nen is terrifying.
@@WardofSquid i dont know, i feel like it adds a ceiling of sorts. like meruem wouldve been so much more terrifying if all the feats he achieved was done without knowledge or access to nen
It is revealed that humanity at some point recided in DC, and we know that nen can linger on after death. AI might be the product of nen after death, which could be down to a myriad of things. One of which could be that an ancient human civilization drank the cool aid and created nen beasts that could carry out the wishes of their progenitors. They might even be the reason humanity could leave DC in the first place, as from Nanika they do not seem inherently hostile towards humans.
@@Procrastinater oh wow. Now THIS is a theory I can get behind. I forgot about humanity. The DC will likely reveal the true nature of Nen and the full story of HxH's world itself and how it came into being
The craziest thing for me is that Meruem is already ultimate. We had always assumed he had a lot more potential for growth but he was way closer to his peak then we thought.
Been saying this for ages. Chimera ants simply never had much room for growth. Maybe skill wise but everything else they cannot improve much, other wise they wouldnt have evolved to devour other species to improve.
i think his whole relationship with komugi was telling of his nature: born innately super powerful but unable to surpass himself. while having instantly beaten champions of all other games, he could never beat the one that was smarter than him to begin with
So Uvogin wasn't liying when he said that his goal is to make his Big Bang attack as strong as a Nuclear Bomb. If he lived longer he may very likely achieve that.
I doubt it. He was barely a fraction of the way there and he was in his prime. The nuke that killed Meruem was stated to be a small nuke, and yet it was dozens of not hundreds of times more powerful than Big Bang
Neon's motivation was mentioned in the anime, if not in the manga. She mentioned a famous fortune teller who expressed joy in being able to give people fortunes that made their lives better, and Neon told Chrollo it resonated with her. Of course, she's still spoiled to death, but there was also a scene where Squalla's girlfriend (one of Neon's servants) found out he died. Neon was so distraught at seeing her crying that she didn't fuss about the auction which I believe shows she's not just a spoiled brat.
It's in the manga too. She is 100% a spoiled brat but yeah she has some desire to help people and some philosophy underlining her power. I buy that she's excellent but she'd need waaaaay more drive to get anywhere close to genius.
Just to clarify, dual affinity users aren’t ranked. From the translated notes of the exhibit, since they can easily learn two nen types at the same pace, it keeps them from reaching the peak of any one affinity. They’d need to focus on just their natural affinity to ever achieve ultimate status. Edit: Correction, they need to continue to train in both categories to reach ultimate. If they only train in their main affinity, they would no longer be dual affinity users and just fall into their natural category.
@@saintgeekSG wdym what about netero he only uses one type of aura at all, if youre talking about enhancement he doesnt do any. His bodies strength was a result of how much he trained, as shown in his past.
Believe the notes actually say they HAVE to focus on both. Basically Machi and Killua have to level up Enhancement to reach Ultimate status in Transmutation but learning Conjuration would keep them from the circle. I feel the ambidextrous stuff is really just a way for Togashi to explain why we'll never see Killua conjure something.
You know what's the real genius of Nen? Togashi made a great set of complex rules, and then made the real more important rule: DON'T TALK ABOUT YOUR POWER. And with this he gave himself permission to not explain a lot of nen abilities 😂
to be honest, i dislike when characters start showing off and revealing what their powers do, i enjoy the mystery and it promotes online discussions which further promote the anime
@@GeneratedPerson Yes me too ^^ explaining your power is just dumb especially when you don't even know what your opponent is capable of, and in HxH when someone starts to explain their powers it's most likely a condition for that ability to work like Chrollo or the lawyer guy in latest chapters... or because the person is 100% sure of his victory like Kurapika or wants to give the opponent an advantage (Chrollo VS Hisoka) The reasoning behind it makes sense and I like Togashi for that
So funny you mention this. Ive been binge watching one piece and its so jarring to hear luffy and everyone else always announce when they are using haki. Its always “ARMAMENT HAKI” instead of just doing it. Sheesh
Neon’s wish wasn’t to get presents from her father, she explained to chrollo before he stole her powers that she was a fan of a woman doing a tv show and doing predictions…… she was inspired by her to help others and that’s why she only predicts tragedies; to allow people to be happy by solving them. Chrollo didn’t use her ability better than her; he used it the exact same way
I don't recall Kortopi to be the twin brother of Knuckle, also that's logic that he had Genius level Conjuration since Gallery Fake was kinda OP, being able to replicate whole buildings and producing puppets from living bodies.
Might be similar as one punch man issue: she doesn’t have anyone who can challenge or push her anymore and limited by that. Meruem to his end, while being able to help give ideas and improvements to Komugi, wasn’t able to truly challenge her or give her a defeat. I mean being the best in the world sounds like “ultimate” but Komugi given the chance probably could’ve evolved even further and beaten all of the future google chess AI too (lol).
The crazy thing is she did improve a good ampunt while meruem stayed nearly at his level, further supporting the facts stated in video that meruam was at his peak
I think he is on Genius Level Video Conjuration ability, especially with his ability to conjure subscribe buttons that inject HxH on our YT feed. Truly terrifying
Gon defeated Pitou who managed to resist a "killing blow" from Meruem. Meruem managed to hit 2 times Netero, destroying his limbs in the process... so I think Pitou was actually much stronger than we might believe, so Gon killing her with almost no effort is maybe the most brutal exhibition of nen power in the whole serie.
That killing blow thought that can kill a normal ant general. .meruem stated that he going to 1 shot shaipouf with his tail. .when shaipouf insisted that meruem heal his 💪
@@richmondbrianvillamayor6951 just consider that Meruem stated tha he wanted to kill her with that "slap". And fighting against Netero his goal was not killing him, only make him surrender.
The chart goal is to prove how far one goes deep into his own innate Nen category. So I'm not surprised by Morel, since he focus on different Nen type categories that aren't his. Same with Chrollo, since he is young and has lots of potential to improve his skill hunter. All in all, the chart makes perfect sense and i have nothing to argue about.
Yea, if anything at all, it makes Chrollo seem even stronger because this isn't even his final form. Seeing how some geezers like Netero and Zeno are Ultimate, it would really make me question the power ceiling if just anyone would be there too.
I feel like someone like Chrollo would be hard to quantify. Like his potential is theoretically limitless based on what he does, but his Specialist position makes him very reliant on what he's stolen up to that point.
@@patchwurk6652 for Chrollo, the chart goal is to showcase how much one can improve his innate Nen ability and explore it more for maximum potential. That is to say, what he can do to make Skill hunter in itself super strong that it already is. An exemple of that is the Bookmark. An ability he made to make him use two abilities he stole. And an ability that is only related to Skill Hunter, not to the Stolen abilities themselves.

yeah, in fact reading yu yu hakusho after HxH you can see a lot of ideas repeats themselves, like the yo-yos killua uses, one guy at yu yu hakusho got 10 of those but not charged ones

@@gabrielbraz1221 True. However, at the same time I almost find it unbelievable that YuYu and HxH we're written by the same person. They're so drastically different in a lot of ways.
It is important to make sure your audience understands that Great/Excellent/Genius/Ultimate does NOT translate to combat capabilities. PS: Zeno Zaldick's "uniform" have the Chinese letters "One Kill Per Day" in the exact form "An apple a day" phase is lettered.
Yea Too many people keep associating Nen with combat and fighting It’s just what we have seen Not all hunters created Hatsus for combat. Many create one that best suits their occupation
It’s important to note the rankings don’t really correlate to anything, he keeps mentioning potential but that doesn’t make any sense either when you look at how the show portrays characters that are supposed extremely seasoned and people literally just born and yet they are ranked at the exact opposite of where you would expect them to be
I think Killua hasn't reached his full potential because he supplements his abilities around Gon. For a person that controls lightning, you'd think he'll have more offensive abilities.
He doesn't control lightning he absorbs it and then turns into it for few seconds. By that I mean he switches his lightning on and off repeatedly to control it so yeah it is controlling but.
I like how this is less of a power ranking and more of a tier system that helps us better understand nen, it’s capabilities and each individuals understanding of it. Some of the strongest characters in the series are at the great level, while some weaker characters are in the genius and even ultimate level. Interested to see how this is used on other characters and future characters as well.
Komugi and Morel are some good example of that. Komugi is extremely weak physically and would be useless in any combat situation, but she's a Genius level Nen user due to the sheer power of her dedication to Gungi. Conversely, Morel is absurdly versatile and one of the most tactical fighters in all of HxH, but he's only a Great level Nen user because his potential is spread thin across all Nen categories rather than focusing on his specialty.
@@bojackhorseman4176I keep seeing people say this line “morel spreads himself across multiple categories” but he literally doesn’t. The only techniques shown on screen are smoke manipulation techniques, the Deep Purple one mixes in transmutation to create the technique but he still focuses almost entirely on manipulation.
I reckon the lowest rank was called great because it’s already an incredible feat itself to even be able to possess Nen. I recall during the hunter election there were only +/- 1000 hunters in the entire association, let’s be generous and double that number to include villains, assassins, unlisted nen users, mercenaries etc and it’s only +/- 2000 nen users in the entire world of what I assume has a population of several billion. If that’s not great I don’t know what is.
@@prabhatdeshmukh9592 yeah gon really had a patchwork technique and due to all the hardships he couldnt hone himself at peace. like neither him or killua got any downtime after the middle of greed island
I don't think I was particularly shocked by any placements. I also half expected Chrollo to be ultimate just because of the bookmark he added to his toolkit, essentially cutting his main weakness in half (I wouldn't say completely nullifying it) makes his ability seriously scary. I guess it also makes sense from a narrative perspective, as I'm sure we will have A LOT of Chrollo in the future and we don't want to say he's reached his peak just yet.
To think that Meruem started at the Ultimate level... Meruem had very little potential. He was born with almost all of it unlocked, and he got the rest after the Rose. It's good to know that he's the pinnacle of raw power, since his ultimate ranking precludes him from improving.
@@TWIXTIMA0 Well, I'm not entirely sure. Like his stats were maxed out from go, but he never actually _developed_ and ability, and God damn would I be delighted to see what he came up with. He could've just straight up done Domain Expansions from Jujutsu Kaisen if he wanted
Komugi being anything other than a Great Nen user is a testament to her incredible ability for growth. My girl literally awakened Nen on her own just through sheer talent and in a couple days became Genius level. How do you expect her to even have the literal time to reach Ultimate level
Yes and she is a perfect example of someone high on the tier list that doesn’t use Nen for combat Too many people associate Nen with only combat or fighting Doesn’t mean she can’t create a Hatsu: Both players must stake their lives on the game of gunji after both agree to terms
@@aceclover758 oh shit you just made me realize that her betting her life on every game might have unintentionally been the strongest kind of Nen contract, which would make her that more powerful aaaaaa
Meruem had “peaked his ability” as an emitter. He was likely born ultimately proficient at converting other nen users aura and making it his own. That is his ability. He can use that ability to scale his power to an infinite degree but the question in this video is regarding nen mastery not sheer power level. All chimera ants have an amazing aptitude to master nen quickly, the king was born with complete mastery of the most op ability ever that seemingly could have allowed him to envelop every other powerful nen user and basically become a nen god. Meruem was already the most powerful before ingesting even a single ultimate nen user and became disinterested in pushing that boundary further. What he sought was never more power it was to find someone who could challenge his power. He found that in Komugi. Without her he almost assuredly would have enveloped every living thing on the entire planet in time and likely all of the other ants and royal guard as well. It was literally what he was born to do.
Nanika will likely grant wishes on the scale of healing Gon two more times: First, to undo the life span lost to Kurapika due to his usage of Emperor Time. Second, to save Leorio somehow. Nanika wants to see Killua happy, and Killua losing his friends would destroy him after he worked so hard to forge those bonds.
@@Meidoification Kurapika is probably just gonna die. Having the plot armor machine save multiple main characters from death seems like bad writing to me.
remember killua may not be the strongest "hunter" but he is the fastest! He is faster that mereum or neteros hands. The drawback is he can not be in the state of godspeed for a long time(he told kite himself). the point being that in kills hands (no pun intended) alluka will not be touched.
Manipulation as a nen ability is ground floor stronger than most nen powers, cause illumi and shalnark can just one shot anyone as long as they get a needle in you
@@nailtoolofamusement When it comes to Manipulation, once their requirement has been met, the target cannot break or resist control regardless of Nen power. That's probably why they mentioned the ground floor for manipulators is pretty high.
@@reverendraccoon3615 Not true, killua overpowers his brother's needle. Limitations must be set in place for a nen ability to work on any target, this is a core mechanic that's been driven into us countless times by the manga.
I still find it crazy that adult gon had it not been gained through the nen vow would've been casually throwing out all those rocks without problem any day of the week, and that would just be rock imagine if gon naturally got to that point he'd have so much more experience and skill with using nen maybe even more abilities.
I would have expected Meruem to be in the lower tiers, since he's only like a few weeks old and it would advocate to his absurd potential being the strongest creature there is and not even having reached his apex.
Have we ever seen him use an emission technique except when he uses Youpi's power after eating him? For all we know he was just stupidly overpowered in emission but never tried to use it so he didn't know.
@@Arkayjiya He also made his own version of Pouf's spiritual message, emitting his aura into small orbs that could even detect lies. The fact that he could deploy them in an instant in a big radius really shows how ultimate his level is at emission.
Let's not forget that Meruem was able to master almost all board games he played in a matter of hours, to the point where he was the best on the planet (excepting Komugi hax). I believe that's meant to be used as an implication that Meruem can just master anything extremely quickly. It's quite possible that he did reach Ultimate level in a few days without even trying. The whole point of his character is that he's a mary sue in terms of power level.
Fully believe this is post-Rose Meruem. These notes are post-election which is why Kite and Gon are Nen-less. After the Bomb his greatest abilities were incredibly powerful Photon En and he could replicate anything Youpi could do.
Makes perfect sense if chimera ants could improve much on there own they wouldnt need to devour other species to evolve. Meruem was simply born at his max potential only lacking wider knowledge
Nanika's nen is on another level. Everyone's restriction and covenant is imposed on themselves, whereas Nanika's is imposed on the wish maker. We can maybe theorize that her restriction is zetsu when she's in Alluka form, but that's not confirmed. Even then, the restriction is so little compared to the power she wields. Furthermore, there is a lot of implications on her kind nature with her being not as adept at healing wishes as opposed to other kinds of wishes. Because even though she is not as good at healing compared to other things, she subconsciously limited the restrictions (the severity of her next three wishes to the next person) on those wishes, almost implying to wish makers that they should wish for healing, not selfish things... It's also possible that she is not as good at healing because of the limited restrictions.
With Nanika being confirmed a Dark Continent Calamities whose insane ability revolves around using Nen to grant any wish of which he/she can choose to offset the wish's cost depending on if he/she likes you enough (ie Killua) it's dawned on me that Greed Island itself might have been Ging's way of creating essentially The Dark Continent for "babies". Because if Nanika can use Nen to an insanely high proficiency, as well as the Chimera Ants (given the right circumstances), I can reasonable assume a good chunk of creatures on the continent especially those at the top of the food chain might all know how to utilize Nen to just as high proficiency. Which is terrifying given how little equally qualifying hunters exist on the other side.
I think it is very fascinating that its just an individual assessment of ones potential. Something like this would make people easily say "oh x would beat y because they are in different tiers" when the reality of things just looks differently. It shows only how much a person could potentially grow and Morel is probably my favorite person to look at in that way. I dont interpret it as "he is weaker than we thought" or something along those lines. Instead to me it reads much more as "his potential is nigh infinite when he puts his mind into perfecting his deep purple, because look at what he can do with it in its infant stage". It also really works well when looking at how specialized an ability is. Pouf and Youpi had very highly specialized abilites that were thought through and conceived in a way that they are easy for them to perfect, so they rank higher. While someone like Komugi underwent some major development in her ability, but wasnt forced or willing to push it too far, so she is further down but has a limited ceiling of sorts. tldr would be like its about perfection. specific skills are easier to perfect, so people rank higher. Complex concepts require a lot of time and thought to perfect, so they generally rank lower unless they are incredibly dedicated and/or old or powerful. Netero perfected his nen due to his age, dedication and adversities he overcame. Hisoka ranks quite highly, because his simple power is used in so many ways to achieve what he wants aka fighting. The more problems someone faces the more their powers get pushed to the brink, which causes them to be perfected.
The problem with Morel is the restriction on his pipe. He's fairly useless without it and it got tossed in the river. Beyond has manipulated the entire human realm so it'd be cool if he was our showcase ultimate Manipulator.
I think when Meruem was born he was a specialist (as it was stated in a old data book) but when he got revived by Pouf and Youpi, he became an emitter. We can see how powerful his energy blast is, he can easily destroy mountains with it
he was not death just in the verged of death it was not a revival per se, he just got heal and stronger, he was an emitter from the start, the databook like it happens often was most likely no all writen by togashi
Gon’s adult evolution was in the great section according to Togashi, he factored that that in. Apparently we still don’t know what Togashi is planning with the series and we might never know what he planned
That was stated in the "character databook", which isn't officially canon. Most people rolled with it because it fit quite well, but in the new chart they are both shown to actually be full emitters. It's actually quite a big reveal, since the Zoldycks were the main argument for nen categories being inheritable/genetical, which is pretty much debunked now
@@Xenoxvvv We don't know that, the personality thing comes from Hisoka, who himself said it's about as reliable as zodiac signs Also it could be the other way around - your natural nen affinity affects how your brain develops and as such makes your personality instead of being formed by it. After all it's both confirmed that nen is metaphysical in origin rather than coming from your fleshy parts and that people in HxH do have souls that is closely linked to it
Few day late, but I actually have conjured a vid about this arc and how good it is. Focused on Gon, check it when you have time if interested. Thanks for reading.
i was actually surprised by meruem being ultimate level because i figured his potential would be nigh on infinite so he would be low down despite being p much the strongest character that doesn't have omnipotent wish granting abilities
I believe Alluka is the one with the nen ability that is ultimate level and that Nanika is actually Ai. Alluka’s nen ability is likely something that allows for Nanika (or Ai) to grant wishes and have the price for that wish be offset in the way that it is. Essentially her ability allows for Ai not to be as big of a calamity as it would have been if it had not been a part Alluka
Imagine If Togashi just decided Meruem was classified as Great 💀 With him in Ultimate it seems more like his power wouldn't grow much further even if he lived.
The ultimate transmuter is...Bungee Gum...Hisoka doesn't use it, it uses Hisoka. You will find, that, if you look hard enough...a secret is uncovered. Bungee Gum has the properties of both *RUBBER* and *GUM!*
OMG I also knew about adult gon - his entire fight against Pitou in fact, I’ve watched something like “top 10 battles in anime” way back in 2014 with my friend. When I watched hxh some 3-4 years later I totally didn’t put the facts together, fortunately. But as soon as Gon transformed I remembered everything and was super terrified of what was about to happen.
@x 🪐 dude I seen the gif before of adult Gon crying and I assumed it was the reveal for Gon's dad because at the part I was on his dad wasn't shown LOL but I knew he looked exactly like Gon XD. So glad it wasn't enough to spoil for me tho.
that last comment about nanika got me thinking that perhaps the dark continent is full of so much death and calamity because it's where all exorcised nen curses go to chill
This just further confirms what Togashi said about Nen in the beginning. It’s about mentality and what feels the most right too you. Yes, birth rites like natural talent can be taken into account but arent set in stone. This is seen most evident with how Kurapika is not even listed anywhere despite how useful his non middle finger abilities are and an ability that is an instant win on any Troupe member he catches. Razor is another example. Also the excorsist. An ultimate yet combat potential is likely weak. Nen is more than combat. Or how ultimate its a tier in itself. Dedicated Nen abilities connected to you are. I have the manga volume when the boys awaken Nen and Wing said an example is even though transmutation is still 80% for him, it could take him years, if ever to replicate Hisoka’s Bungee Gum since that ability is unique to him for a reason. You can copy others abilities but it will never be as strong as the original persons. Chrollo is an exception but even his stolen Hatsus are subject to the same mental rules the owners had for them.
I think this ranking as not an overall power ranking, but a ranking of one's personal potential/level within their power ranges is very interesting. Its a different concept for ranking characters and that makes it interesting
If Gon does return I think he'll have Nen but his Nen will be changed from the curse then AI removing it. Nen is so complex I can't imagine such a feat wouldn't do anything. With all that book learnin Gon's doing he'll tame his new Nen
Fun point about Razor: He destroyed the Troupe's ship with a volleyball strike. He only used the multitude of summons for Dodgeball team, but he could have a myriad of sports related nen abilities that he could deploy (imagine honing his output to a baseball size instead of a dodgeball/volleyball sized) When Greed Island is beaten to a point of no longer being.....a thing, Razor can pretty much consider his life sentence (as a character in the game) effectively over.
I always thought when Zeno said "I may have killed someone who wasn't my target" he was talking about leaving netero, I don't think he was prepared/or wanted to leave netero to fight meruem alone.
Nah bro. He knew Netero was on a suicide mission. He was hired just to separate the King for Netero to activate the poison nuke in a remote area. The 2 of them felt bad for injuring Komugi thats why they let their guard down and Meruem passed between them
I absolutely adore HxH but I always found it hilarious that nen is a secret! Such as killua could identify zenos dragon dive, a nen technique but didn't know about nen at the start of the story somehow?? Lots of examples of nen being used in public like heavens arena too!
Perhaps killua saw his grandfather's technique but not completely, only the destructive effect it leaves behind and so he was able to identify it now knowing NEN.
he can feel his Grandpa? realize that everyones aura is different and is like an extension of themselves. Im sure Killua has seen his grandfather use those attacks, but he did not see them at the time, but he Felt it.
Even if killua saw the effect of dragon dive but had no clue what it was, why on earth would he assume in the territory of the chimera ants who all have various crazy abilities that this was absolutely the work of zeno? Killua only gained the ability to differentiate other people's nen when he got awakened by wing or he could of guessed it was hisoka testing him at heavens arena because hisoka wasn't shy about using his aura during the hunter exam. The palace attack could of been anyone, nen user or not doing literally anything that had generalised wide spread destruction, it's just too much of a coincidence I feel, I also think it's a bit stupid that killua didn't get taught nen by his family for whatever reason but that's another thought for another day
@@j4nk3n he can still feel the nen aura though, and everones feels different, its like an extension of himself, he's likely to have felt Dragon Dive in the past, he has gone on assassinations with his grandfather many times in the past and probably trained with him many times. just because he cant see it at the time, doesnt mean he doesnt know how it feels. also sure most emission type nen is invisible to the non nen user, but there are also conditions that would allow an emission nen to be visible, we dont know the conditions on dragon dive and if its visible to the non nen user's eye.
I think that this power system gives a pretty important lesson on life in general: the stronger your faith (in whatever that may be), the stronger you are. If you can assign yourself to a set of beliefs and remain devout, you can cultivate your potential.
Uvo was a genius enhancer, and it showed when he did feats like scream at someone to death while not using emitting or transmutation to Amp the sound. He also bit into a guy's skull and used it as bullets to shoot THROUGH someone else. If he can move AND use zetsu, then he should be considered a deadly threat for even veteran nen users. That's what made him a genius.
I think the system probably operates on how well you can use your tier as a nen user. Like to what extent your power uses each individual tree. Thats why people like hisoka are so low rated.. its not that he has a lot of room to grow its that his power doesnt use the full capabilities of his tier. Its only genius lvl usage even though hisoka now has nen after death. It doesnt speak to his ability to use nen just how well his ability takes advantage of its class.. I hope that makes sense. Gon was only for a brief moment using 100% of what an enhancer can do with nen. The guy that can remove nen his ability probably shoots close to perfection in removing nen but that doesnt mean hes an ultimate lvl nen user. His ability can just reach near 100% in his tree. Like we wouldnt compare these guys to gings nen use but in their fields they are strong.
Other potential future ultimate nen users in my opinion could be: Maha Zoldyck, Ging Freecss, Don Freecss, Gyro (full potential as chimera ant since he's seemingly being set up as a final antagonist of the sort), the literal Devil (exists and turned Melody into what she is), Beyond Netero (based off his father), and Fourth Prince Tserriednich if he reaches his full potential (potential exceeds even that of Gon and Killua) also Kurapika could arguably barely be there but he's at least genius tier for nen because of his haxs even if the trade off is giving up lifespan for that immense power.
I wanna see prime Killua because based off having the same potential as Gon except with more skill/intelligence he'd surely be in the ultimate nen category
@@newp0rt praying for that time skip, Togashi created my favorite anime and despite taking several long hiatus' I'm just glad we're getting more chapters lately
I don't think it's that shocking to think Komugi is just a Genius and not Ultimate level nen user. She literally used her nen to master one specific game and never went beyond that because she didn't need to. As it stands she's just kind of a prodigy like Gon and let herself have fun with the nen she may or may not have known to be using. If she ever applied herself, she'd probably be an all time great tactician in war, but she didn't have to ever do that.
Loving the content as usual. I laughed when you mentioned vegemite. Most Americans dont know or understand what that is or about. I just found out recently when my Australian friend asked me about it and i said what the hell is vegemite lol. very interesting now i know
Maybe one of the new "annoying" restrictions Chrollo mentions he now has on Skill Hunter after creating the Bookmark is that he needs to give up a sufficiently significant hatsu he previously stole to activate the Bookmark. The Bookmark would otherwise be quite overpowered, allowing him not only the ability to use 2 powers but also to close Skill Hunter and use two handed abilities and to just fight hand to hand more effectively in general. A big trade off would make sense. That potentially could allow a scenario where Neon is still alive. May also explain why he stole powers from not only 1 but 2 members of his troupe (seems out of character to do this. He could just keep dodging Hisoka until he found other abilities). If he had found a way to return abilities without the death of the originator, he may be more willing to take from friends.
@@ENELGaming didnt mean to say Chrollo could use all the above Bookmark techniques at the same time but just that the Bookmark gave him a significant upgrade. And he mentions "annoying conditions". I'm speculating what those would be. I have heard some theories that maybe he needs to describe his ability as a restriction but that seems like a relatively weak condition since most shonen fighters spend some time talking about their abilities in fights anyway. If that was all that was required, Chrollo would likely have just made the Bookmark at the time he made Skill Hunter way back in the day. I think he described all his abilities to get into Hisoka's head. We know that one of Hisoka's strengths is to almost reflexively be able to unravel people's techniques mid fight - so well he can actually start using them himself to win the fight. He is hyper intelligent but during the fast pace of battle he can do this so quickly it's almost like a reflex. So if Chrollo can even slow Hisoka down by seconds or fractions of seconds in this high stakes fight between experts, that is already an advantage let alone if he strings enough tactics together to actually confuse Hisoka. He specifically tells Hisoka to "think carefully" after "seeing his hand" and he only tells Hisoka what these abilities are and not how he will use them. And we spend almost the entire fight inside Hisoka's head (both cool and probably necessary since no one else was capable of unravelling these many tactics in real time during battle). Anyways, what I mean is that I can't imaging that the restriction(s) needed to activate Bookmark would be as simple as describing the ability since Bookmark massively upgrades Skill Hunter's versatility in battle. So I am just theorizing that a more balanced restriction would be to give up a stolen hatsu for the ability to use 2 at the same time, or to close his book and use two handed abilities and/or fight with his hands free. And more characteristic as mentioned in my original comment because it seems unlikely he would permanently take the hatsus of his teammates. :) guess we can only wait to see if Togashi ever tells us what these new restrictions for Skill Hunter are or if we will just need to speculate on our own forever.
@@cynthiawu7170 okay, I think that theory of your's about giving up two stolen hatsu is a disadvantage for him, His hatsu is use for stealing hatsu that's why it's called bandit secret.
@@ENELGaming I definitely get your sentiment! Which would be why Chrollo did not make the Bookmark right away. But in my theory, he would give up 1 (Neon's) not 2 to activate Bookmark vs Hisoka. For Shalnark and Korptopi's abilities, it would not really be a loss as I doubt he would deliberately and permanently steal 2 team member's hatsus. It would be more like borrowing and then returning when he activates Bookmark at a later date. Bookmark is a massive boost to Chrollo. Instead of 1 hatsu, he can use 2. This is loosely a doubling of his ability (while not all hatsu are equal, we can also see that combinations of 2 hatsu can be more than the sum of the individual parts. So rough doubling, possibly more). It can also loosely double his physical combat abilities as he can now fight with two free hands rather than 1 hand + 1 hand holding a book open. The versatility of two handed abilities is also no slouch. And while he may not be able to use these all at the exact same time, he clearly can use all these in succession in 1 battle, so he does have access to ALL these boosts with Bookmark. To maintain the total number of skills in Bandit's Secret, he would mainly have to 1. not use the Bookmark when fighting an opponent where he clearly can win without it; 2. Collect some extra back up hatsus of sufficient quality in case he does need Bookmark in tougher fights. Is it easy to collect these extra (or any) hatsu? no. But surely it would be worth one high level hatsu (I have to assume it can't be some throwaway low level hatsu) to exchange for the possibility of essentially doubling your Nen power and/or your combat power against a very strong opponent. Haven't really seen anyone else amp their Nen ability by 2 fold with a turn on/turn off switch aside from Kurapika (Emperor Time and loss of actual life) and Gon with transformation (that basically killed him). of course, I am always happy to hear more theories about how the Bookmark was made. I assume it cannot be easy otherwise he would have made it long ago. I also would like to hear other theories on the stealing of 2 team member's hatsus. So far, only death removes those techniques from his book. I cannot explain an in-character reason why he would steal Shalnark and Kortopi's abilities if he did NOT develop a method to return hatsu. :)
@@cynthiawu7170 You know I think he created the bookmark because he realize he have to used both hands in his stolen ability Sun and Moon, Gallery Fake and Convert Hands and ofcourse he can't beat Hisoka with only one hand.
I wonder what about Future Gon made him ultimate. The ability to transform and access his potential power, or the actual scaling of the abilities power?
heres my thought process on nen levels vs actual strenght. The levels just refer to affinity for that specific nen category. As well as some what correlating to strength. Take morel, or razor. Theyre not super high up on tiers but theyre stupidly powerful. I think the tiers just refer to how easy it is for that person to improve or use that specific type of nen.
@Milo Novikov Well he usually requests a 1 on 1 fight for people he deems strong and worth his time. Him being satisfied with a dodge ball game seemed a little odd to me
i like the idea that Biskey “prayed” for her body to change but its not the same way someone would pray to god. it reminds me of Shuna from tensura being able to use holy magic despite being a monster and someone not aligned with the church and she states why she can use HM like this: “faith is the power to believe in something, you don’t need to believe in a god to have faith, the stronger you believe in something the stronger your faith becomes”
So it is not about power but rather, the commitment one offered until they reached the pinnacle of their nen ability. Also the utility of their nen ability is also being considered.
I like that you included that this "ranking" isn't a power scaling.
Yeah because otherwise it would be a complete contradiction. Still doesn't explain how Morel and Razor (two nen users who have YEARS of experience), would still be in the same league as nen users such as say child Gon or Shizuku. That doesn't make sense to me. The fact Nanika's powers are confirmed to be Nen at all is kind of a huge reveal in itself.

Thank you for the Hunter vids Liam!
Great compilation of anime clips! It's always fun to see highlights from different shows. Keep up the good work sharing these with the community.
The problem with Morel is the restriction on his pipe. He's fairly useless without it and it got tossed in the river. Beyond has manipulated the entire human realm so it'd be cool if he was our showcase ultimate Manipulator.
You have very unique and interesting way with words. I don't think I've ever seen anybody speaking in such style before.
You shouldn't trust that databook, it listed Zeno and Silva as Transmuters, Knuckle as an Emitter and Knov as a Conjurer
That powerful energy blast is because he got the Yupi power and make it better, and Yupi says that his power wasn't made to him, was made to the king
@@kelvellinnery2406 finally someone pointing that, the same with Pouf
@@VaquOfficial yeah, they are
Gon’s adult evolution was in the great section according to Togashi, he factored that that in. Apparently we still don’t know what Togashi is planning with the series and we might never know what he planned
wait a second, so zeno and silva are actually emitters? i thought they were like killua as transmuters
That was stated in the "character databook", which isn't officially canon. Most people rolled with it because it fit quite well, but in the new chart they are both shown to actually be full emitters. It's actually quite a big reveal, since the Zoldycks were the main argument for nen categories being inheritable/genetical, which is pretty much debunked now
@@user-zz3sn8ky7z i always toght transmutation didnt make any sense, i'm glad they are emitters now...
@@user-zz3sn8ky7z to some extent you inherit your parents personality, and since your nen category is based on it it's not entirely wrong
@@Xenoxvvv both of u are correct. Lets chop that up to being on a spectrum
@@Xenoxvvv We don't know that, the personality thing comes from Hisoka, who himself said it's about as reliable as zodiac signs
Also it could be the other way around - your natural nen affinity affects how your brain develops and as such makes your personality instead of being formed by it. After all it's both confirmed that nen is metaphysical in origin rather than coming from your fleshy parts and that people in HxH do have souls that is closely linked to it
zeno having a moral crisis "accidentally" hurting komugi after carpet bombing the entire palace xD
Imagine If Togashi just decided Meruem was classified as Great 💀
With him in Ultimate it seems more like his power wouldn't grow much further even if he lived.
The ultimate transmuter is...Bungee Gum...Hisoka doesn't use it, it uses Hisoka. You will find, that, if you look hard enough...a secret is uncovered. Bungee Gum has the properties of both *RUBBER* and *GUM!*
Tompa's so strong that his ranking is beyond that of even the most powerful creatures from the dark continent
idk if i can let that joke at 1:30 slide bro
OMG I also knew about adult gon - his entire fight against Pitou in fact, I’ve watched something like “top 10 battles in anime” way back in 2014 with my friend. When I watched hxh some 3-4 years later I totally didn’t put the facts together, fortunately. But as soon as Gon transformed I remembered everything and was super terrified of what was about to happen.
@x 🪐 as manga reader, that shit was BIG WTF! it was mixed emotions like an ass-pull but not.
& he’s gonna release it naturally
maybe he'll get a nen after death, he didn't literally died but was at doors death.
@@metalsadman trueeee :0
Indeed. No creature stands a chance against his poisoned juice.
Or he becomes useless like gohan
Fun point about Razor: He destroyed the Troupe's ship with a volleyball strike. He only used the multitude of summons for Dodgeball team, but he could have a myriad of sports related nen abilities that he could deploy (imagine honing his output to a baseball size instead of a dodgeball/volleyball sized)
When Greed Island is beaten to a point of no longer being.....a thing, Razor can pretty much consider his life sentence (as a character in the game) effectively over.
The 2 of them felt bad for injuring Komugi thats why they let their guard down and Meruem passed between them
Nah, Zeno and Silva were upset about having potentially made a huge mistake in their contract. They're really firm in their professionalism.
"i suppose emitting two giant balls makes sense when your name Zol-D*CK"🤣
I absolutely adore HxH but I always found it hilarious that nen is a secret! Such as killua could identify zenos dragon dive, a nen technique but didn't know about nen at the start of the story somehow?? Lots of examples of nen being used in public like heavens arena too!
They think it's magic.
The palace attack could of been anyone, nen user or not doing literally anything that had generalised wide spread destruction, it's just too much of a coincidence I feel, I also think it's a bit stupid that killua didn't get taught nen by his family for whatever reason but that's another thought for another day
@@j4nk3n he can still feel the nen aura though, and everones feels different,
its like an extension of himself,
he's likely to have felt Dragon Dive in the past, he has gone on assassinations with his grandfather many times in the past and probably trained with him many times.
just because he cant see it at the time, doesnt mean he doesnt know how it feels.
also
sure most emission type nen is invisible to the non nen user, but there are also conditions that would allow an emission nen to be visible, we dont know the conditions on dragon dive and if its visible to the non nen user's eye.
Thanks for making me laugh with that "Mega Gon" phrase... 10/10
With all of this info, I suppose that makes you ultimate tier on delivering Hunter x Hunter content straight into my UA-cam feed.
I think that this power system gives a pretty important lesson on life in general: the stronger your faith (in whatever that may be), the stronger you are. If you can assign yourself to a set of beliefs and remain devout, you can cultivate your potential.
Togashi's emitter restitution tour continues
Glad we're getting answers cause the rate this series is going my grandkids will be the ones with all the answers
5:00 Kortopi looks lot like Knuckle, doesn't he ?
Hey, just wanted to say that in time 5:02, Kortopi's image is still Knuckle's. But, all in all, great video! 😁
The power scaling system in HxH is the best in ALL forms of entertainment.
Name a better one. I'll wait.
I wanna see prime Killua because based off having the same potential as Gon except with more skill/intelligence he'd surely be in the ultimate nen category
too bad it wont ever happen in this life time. we would need either a time skip or something cause togashi aint finishing this story.
@@newp0rt praying for that time skip, Togashi created my favorite anime and despite taking several long hiatus' I'm just glad we're getting more chapters lately
Gins Ultimate ability is dodging child support
I don't think it's that shocking to think Komugi is just a Genius and not Ultimate level nen user. She literally used her nen to master one specific game and never went beyond that because she didn't need to. As it stands she's just kind of a prodigy like Gon and let herself have fun with the nen she may or may not have known to be using. If she ever applied herself, she'd probably be an all time great tactician in war, but she didn't have to ever do that.
Loving the content as usual. I laughed when you mentioned vegemite. Most Americans dont know or understand what that is or about. I just found out recently when my Australian friend asked me about it and i said what the hell is vegemite lol. very interesting now i know
Nen is my absolute favorite portrayal of energy/power in fiction.
That bucket joke was way funnier than it had any right to be I legit girly giggled
Can’t believe people really thought alluka wasn’t responsible for that massive nen wave Illulmi orgasmed over 😂
Maybe one of the new "annoying" restrictions Chrollo mentions he now has on Skill Hunter after creating the Bookmark is that he needs to give up a sufficiently significant hatsu he previously stole to activate the Bookmark.
He can only use 1 ability with a bookmark, two ability witha boomark and while the book is open
@@cynthiawu7170 You know I think he created the bookmark because he realize he have to used both hands in his stolen ability Sun and Moon, Gallery Fake and Convert Hands and ofcourse he can't beat Hisoka with only
one hand.
I like how Zeno's practically a saint compared to most of his family.
As usual, I am more confused than learning more about the series with more and more explanations.
I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for the second part of that iceberg video
Please continue with the HxH iceberg !
Just here to say that I absolutely love your 2 channels. I love the same mangas as you (but even many other as for me)
I wonder what about Future Gon made him ultimate. The ability to transform and access his potential power, or the actual scaling of the abilities power?
the scaling probably, that transformation was basically:
" What if Gon pulled a Netero and started training non stop for decades".
His Enhancement proficiency is peak Enhancer
heres my thought process on nen levels vs actual strenght. The levels just refer to affinity for that specific nen category. As well as some what correlating to strength. Take morel, or razor. Theyre not super high up on tiers but theyre stupidly powerful. I think the tiers just refer to how easy it is for that person to improve or use that specific type of nen.
This video reminded me how odd it was that Hisoka had no desire to fight Razor
Please correct me if I’m mistaken but he ‘fought’ Razor, just not in the 1v1 usual way he does.
@Milo Novikov Well he usually requests a 1 on 1 fight for people he deems strong and worth his time. Him being satisfied with a dodge ball game seemed a little odd to me
Razer is the game master and will not leave greed island. Impossible to fight someone that can permaban you from the servers.
You're like the only youtuber who i see putting up new videos at 6am. I be sitting around then i be like " oh, great something to watch."
kinda depends on where you live don't you think
Few seconds in and I already know one of them is Tonpa-san.
i like the idea that Biskey “prayed” for her body to change but its not the same way someone would pray to god. it reminds me of Shuna from tensura being able to use holy magic despite being a monster and someone not aligned with the church and she states why she can use HM like this: “faith is the power to believe in something, you don’t need to believe in a god to have faith, the stronger you believe in something the stronger your faith becomes”
Biscy being in ultimate makes me quite happy.
So it is not about power but rather, the commitment one offered until they reached the pinnacle of their nen ability. Also the utility of their nen ability is also being considered.
Curious how Zodiacs, Beyond team and the Kakin royal family rank.
It was cool hearing about your old Razor prediction.
