I know most people hate X-Men Apocalypse, but it does show how powerful Magneto can be. He nearly destroyed the world. That was just scratching the surface too. Electromagnetism is a fundamental force of reality.
Magneto reminds me of the portrayal of General Zod in the most recent superman movie. Not really evil but willing to go to whatever length to protect his people. Forged by atrocity and hardship he is a realist who sees people for the hateful, easily swayed, and destructive beings we are. Maybe one or 2 humans are okay in his eyes but as a whole he knows we will always fear what we cannot control or understand and so he believes mutants being hated/feared is inevitable. He also has some sith mentalities in that he believes those with power should use it and be free in who they are not chained down by what he sees as a weaker race.
I think Magneto has severe PTSD. He is so terrified of his people being wiped out that he will do anything to stop it. I don't like where they try to make Magneto more evil by having him say that mutants are superior-that would make him more like the Nazis. He's an effective villain/anti-hero whenever he does what he does purely in defense.
Adam Roth Oh no doubt. He’s not really a villain. He’s one of the most psychologically complex characters in Marvel and some series sadly don’t quite get his portrayal right. I don’t really like Wolverine and the X-Men version... it focused too much on the mutant superiority angle and made him seem like a Nazi himself... a cruel dictator disguising the truth about his “mutant paradise” and locking away those who oppose his rule... he wouldn’t treat them that way. He has those moments where he does bad things, but there’s so much more to him and there should be a balance. The 90s series version is great because he truly cares about his people, and about Charles and really respects him despite their opposing views. He also actually wants to be a better father. I also love in Evolution how he would have eventually joined the X-Men in the future.
if I were a mutant and magneto came to me preaching evolution and the stuff in this video I would say " your really taken with this whole master race concept considering how much you suffered from the Nazis and the mission they preached "
"My people talked while others prepared for war. They used reason while others used tanks and they were destroyed for their trouble. I won't stand by and watch it happen again. I WON'T!" -Magneto
I always felt X-Men Evolution's Magneto was underrated by fans. He was always intelligent, usually one step ahead of everyone, ruthless, had fantastic lines, great moments, and had that awesome theme music. He also had the best voice actor. I wonder if people would reassess their views after realizing his actor also played Kratos in God of War.
I remember, the first I ever saw of Magneto was episode 3 of Wolverine and the X-men. When he let them take Xavier back home I knew that this guy was worth all the glory comic fans gave him.
Magneto is Polish but I never understand why they always have a British voice actor doing his voice. The best voice actor for Magneto IMO was the one from the X-Men the animated series.
I have not read a lot of comics but it may be if he moved away after the war to Britian or the US. If he did he may have lost his accent and gained one of the country he immigrated too. This is just a theory though
A tragic villain. Misguided in his attempts to prevent the wrongs committed against the people of his youth from repeating, only to adopt an ideological model far too similar to his oppressors. Some scars never fade, especially those in the mind. Thus, the cycle of abuse begins on a terrible scale.
1:57 - 2:18, so fucking amazing. That how I will always picture Magneto and the X-men, the way he was in the X-man cartoon of the 90's. Just got the whole show on DVD from bestbuy and amazon!!! Cant wait to watch them!!!
Magneto is a villain, that much is true, but as a few of these lines show, he's not without some sense of ethics, especially how he told off Apocalypse.
After suffering at the hands of the Nazis and the soviets, Magneto uses his power to ensure his fellow mutants reign supreme and never be subjugated by them. That’s what makes magneto an amazing character
"This is your dream. My kind splayed before you, powerless and afraid. All the X-Men have done is use their awesome power to protect a world that hates and fears them. Behold their reward. What must we do to be good enough? Is this the high road's destination? If so, I say, as I have too many times before, never again."
Erik is only bad because of the horrible things he seen in ww2. tthere is still good in him and can make the right choices and still cares of the people he was once with like charles
'The brave are always the first to die' Best quote of Magneto. He says it in the the finale of season one, right before the x-men go up against all the sentinels.
@king dahomey m They are similar though. Remember, the X-Men came out during the height of the Civil Rights Movement in 1962. 1963 is when MLK delivered the I Have a Dream speech. Marvel Comics was around during this time.
having looked at his past and knowing what pain is myself(not nearly as bad as his though) ....i cant look at magneto as a "Villain" any more he is pain and Broken and i Want him to stay a Hero the Joys of being one, being able to be with his Best Friend Charels like the old days, and more its what he deserves!!!
that's interesting I didn't know that was actually a catch phrase for Magneto. but it does make sense. after all, it's already been pointed out how Magneto was inspired by Malcolm X in many ways. his most famous quote was: "by any means necessary." the line has also been used in Magneto's dialog before, such as in the film series. the two lines are similar, or at least have a similar intention. to prevent suffering at any cost, no matter what.
I haven't watched Evolution in years but I am convinced it has the best version of Magneto outside of the comics. The voice, the look, and the theme is just perfect.
X Men Evolution imo is the best incarnation of the X Men outside the comics. Every single character, hero and villain alike, got a chance to shine. The writting, animation, and action was perfect. Characters like Avalanche, Toad, Storm, and Wanda got some nice character development, while Jean, Scott (personnal favourite btw), Kitty, Logan, and Kurt were so badass and awesome. God, i hate how it got replaced for that crappy wolverine and the x men show...
the X-men evolution with Magneto getting so easily punked by Apocolypse was a joke. His versions in Wolverine and the X-Men and the classic X-men series were the best.
What makes Magneto such a superb character is that even if you disagree with his views, you can understand why he thinks the way he does

"I am Magneto. Master of Magnet!"
RIP David Hemblen. He just passed today 😭
"We shall not live our days wondering if we could have saved more."
if I were a mutant and magneto came to me preaching evolution and the stuff in this video I would say " your really taken with this whole master race concept considering how much you suffered from the Nazis and the mission they preached "
Michael Schmidt Magneto would probably kill you on the spot for comparing him to the Nazis lol. So is Magneto the ultimate hypocrite?
the song is perfect for him
The Magneto from X-Men: The Animated Series was the best by far.
His voice is cooler in Evolution. All though he is by far the most well acted comic character.
Song is perfect.
"My people talked while others prepared for war. They used reason while others used tanks and they were destroyed for their trouble. I won't stand by and watch it happen again. I WON'T!" -Magneto
4:38 no gloves. 4:41 gloves
He sure does have quite the magnetic personality.
i love how mysterious and powerful magneto is in x men evoulution
I always felt X-Men Evolution's Magneto was underrated by fans. He was always intelligent, usually one step ahead of everyone, ruthless, had fantastic lines, great moments, and had that awesome theme music. He also had the best voice actor. I wonder if people would reassess their views after realizing his actor also played Kratos in God of War.
Christopher judge is the voice actor
@@kristopherjones4096 I know.
The song Never Again fits Magneto so well...
Tom Kane was PERFECT as Magneto.
Thank you for all of your work, Tom Kane! You were a great voice actor!
"We're the future Charles, not them. They no longer matter."
-Magneto
He will never be so well written like this in the CUM movies
Psp games!
I remember, the first I ever saw of Magneto was episode 3 of Wolverine and the X-men. When he let them take Xavier back home I knew that this guy was worth all the glory comic fans gave him.
Fun fact the actor who plays Magneto in X-Men Evolution (Christopher Judge) is the same actor who plays Kratos in the new God Of War games.
Magneto: Good Guy doing bad things, or Bad Guy doing good things?
Those are the best villains. The Best villain, a REAL villain; Doesn't think he's a villain at all.
+thaloh
He is an anti villain. It's about time more people are aware of that archetype.
At least anti hero
Yes.
A tragic villain. Misguided in his attempts to prevent the wrongs committed against the people of his youth from repeating, only to adopt an ideological model far too similar to his oppressors. Some scars never fade, especially those in the mind. Thus, the cycle of abuse begins on a terrible scale.
"Today begins a new day for mutan kind. One in which we needen't hide in corners and crawl in fear."
Magneto: Too much iron in your blood......
Best quote x-men first class:
I've been at the mercy of men who were just following orders. Never again
1992 version Magneto had a really cool voice.
"Peace was never an option."
Magneto is literally based off Malcom X. No wonder I love him so much.
Erik Magnus Lehnsherr aka Magneto will always be my favorite supervillain.
very fitting song
"Go then. The brave ones are always the first to die" -Erik Magnus Lenshere
Spoken like a true son of Jewish parents, during the war, Magneto
Magneto is a very complex man. That's why I love Marvel a bit, more than DC. "Nuff said.
R.I.P David Hemblen
Is it weird that Charles Xavier at X-men evolution and Magnito at Wolverine and the X-men have the same voice-actor?
Charles in Evolution is voiced by David Kaye while Magneto was voiced by Tom Kane, though they do sound similar.
Fun fact: while Tom Kane did not voice Professor Xavier in X-Men: Evolution, he did voice him in the video game Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
'The brave are always the first to die'
Best quote of Magneto.
He says it in the the finale of season one, right before the x-men go up against all the sentinels.
"I wonder how you will look Charles after all these years? A toupee perhaps?"
He said this in X-men The Animated Series. Has stuck with me ever since.
"the humans must be crushed and I have the power to do it"
the voice for magneto in the original xmen sounds like ra's al ghul from batman
The Master of Magnetism is one of the coolest Marvel Villians
90s Magneto, why he will forever be my favourite character.
the Malcolm X of comicbooks so cool
@king dahomey m They are similar though. Remember, the X-Men came out during the height of the Civil Rights Movement in 1962. 1963 is when MLK delivered the I Have a Dream speech. Marvel Comics was around during this time.
@king dahomey m Stan Lee and others did mentioned Malcolm X and Martin Luther King being influences during this time in an interview.
Who came back her after "97"
having looked at his past and knowing what pain is myself(not nearly as bad as his though) ....i cant look at magneto as a "Villain" any more he is pain and Broken and i Want him to stay a Hero the Joys of being one, being able to be with his Best Friend Charels like the old days, and more its what he deserves!!!
that's interesting I didn't know that was actually a catch phrase for Magneto. but it does make sense. after all, it's already been pointed out how Magneto was inspired by Malcolm X in many ways. his most famous quote was: "by any means necessary." the line has also been used in Magneto's dialog before, such as in the film series. the two lines are similar, or at least have a similar intention. to prevent suffering at any cost, no matter what.
"never again" by Disturbed. perfect theme for him
Stan Lee was such a genius!
I would've liked to see the quote better to die on ones feet then to live on ones knees
Charles lives in fantasy land......
"When I get angry....THINGS BEGIN TO HAPPEN!"
Why wasn't that spliced in there. It would have owned.
"The brave are always the first to die".- Magneto
I don't really see him as a villian. I just see him as an individual who is extremely complicated
I haven't watched Evolution in years but I am convinced it has the best version of Magneto outside of the comics. The voice, the look, and the theme is just perfect.
I agree, such a shame they cancelled it :(
Muhammad Jordan
Yeah they were going to do Mr. Sinister for s6.
Muhammad Jordan
Interesting to hear a different perspective. All everyone says is that Evolution is inferior to TAS lol.
I think it's just nostalgia influencing them. I mean I love TAS but I have to admit it's very dated and has quite a few flaws.
You are an idealist charles and I am realist.
the X-men evolution with Magneto getting so easily punked by Apocolypse was a joke. His versions in Wolverine and the X-Men and the classic X-men series were the best.
You know, having that eventualy at the end, on a diferent line, oh, it is just killing me!
as much as I hate when people put music in "quote" compilations, that's a really awesome song for Magneto :D
“Today was supposed to be a display of your power but instead I give you a glimpse of the devastation my race can unleash upon yours”
