If you have been following my original work for a while, you know that a lot of my pieces are inspired by the time of evening and night. I always wanted to compose a piece depicting the sunrise but never felt quite there yet, until recently. This work of mine is meant to portray a transition from the night to sunrise but also it is deeply personal and expresses my own life experiences in a metaphorical form.
Normally I don’t go through deep explanations of my music, but actually, when I compose I have a very clear idea of what scene I am trying to depict as if I were writing a soundtrack to the movie, so each piece has its very own “scenario”. These ideas were part of my compositional process, so I thought I’d share them along with the music.
This piece is composed of three contrasting sections, each representing different stages of the night-to-sunrise transition (also in human life). All three sections are connected through the development of the shared motives that appear and transform throughout the piece. First section is a deep contemplation in a state of uncertainty, second is a glimpse of hope and the last section represents revival, a triumph of the human spirit as the sun rises over darkness.
Thankyou Daria, years ago a guitarist in Maine, Ed Gerhard did a rendition of The Water is Wide that was so beautiful and peaceful, I still go back to it. This song evokes the same peaceful feelings for me. In fact all your playing is wonderful like that.
