I never use to own multiple pairs of boots until I discovered your channel. Now I have a set for whatever job I might be doing. I do have 4 pairs I seem to wear more than others. My main work boots are a set of Frank's Hand Made Boots. I rotate those out every 2 or 3 days with a set of Chippewa 1969 Kush N Collars. My main weekend boots are a pair of Red Wing 1907s and Thorogood Roofers Boots. I own a bunch of others as well because of your damn channel. Lol. But I now see the benefits of having footwear tailored to specific job rather than trying a one size all approach. Love your channel by the way.

That's my daily commute pre corona. Ten minutes in the am to get to work and an hour to get home. Gotta love the belt parkway in Brooklyn.

Wedge soles are simply better for active wear. Heels can look at lot nicer and makes some jobs a heck of a lot easier though I will admit. I personally can't wear heeled stuff for an amazingly long time cause they jar my joints if I come down too hard (like tripping or weird terrain) and I like something I can run in pretty ok if necessary to do so.

The only heeled boots I buy have to be vibram. I need heeled boots for traction in slick and rugged terrain and vibram can take hits from a shovel well. Whatever material they use for wedge soles get tore up by shovels and have no grip.

lug soles on foam or blown rubber wedge midsole are the best of both worlds on anything but ladders but pretty uncommon on factory made boots, usually you have to have that done by a cobbler.

Most chemical plants, refineries and other steel type plants will not let you in with a wedge sole. You have to have a defined heel. I have three wedges and four pairs of heeled boots depending on the weather, environment etc. one pair of boots will never be the most comfortable in all conditions

I love wedge soles I just wish they had more tread, I'm usually hiking through mud and wet grass and they just can't keep up. As far as that soft crepe sole on a 90° heel boot my only complaint with them is there just isn't enough support in the arch when you're getting into the long size 13+ boots and over 250lbs

Your comment alone is making me buy a wedge. Never tried wearing a pair . I'm also a big guy.

@@Prisoner-jf8vi if you're constantly on concrete floors they're awesome, super cushy and great support, they're what kept me on my feet through 12 hour shifts when I worked factory and facility maintenance jobs

Late, I know....but Keen, Cincinnatis. Game changer for us who like a wedge soles, but also would like the traction.

I’ll go with a wedge sole boot for work and a heel for casual.

My name is Miles. I will soon start auto mechanic school and will need a solid pair of boots. My school has specific requirements. Quote, "Oil resistant soles are required for auto and diesel students." and "Flat heeled work shoes, leather shoes or boots."
I was looking at boots with moc toes and wedge soles. Boots for all-day walking and standing comfort that can meet my school's requirements. The problem is I have a wide foot. I wear a 10.5US in most shoes and get wider toe boxes when available.
I was thinking that $100-$150 might do the trick. $200 might be pushing it for school boots. Do you have any suggestions for brands or makes of boot that might suit my needs? Thanks for taking the time,
    Much appreciated,
    Miles Feinberg

I bought a pair of RW 10877's due to your channel. A nightmare to put on even after having speed hooks installed and longer laces. Might just be the nature of the tongue being sewn almost to the top. Hard to pivot my foot in (we wear the same size in soft toe boots). Maybe Thorogoods don't have this problem. But the comfort while walking can't be understated. Used to be a Vibram lugged sole only guy. Not so much any more.

How are the treads on wedge sole boots. I’ve never owned a pair but would like to try it it looks like they wear pretty fast and would not do a good job in bad weather. Please let me know your opinion.

Sounds like you work for the Rail Road. They require a heel on their boots and a certain angle on the boot's heel.

Traffic? That's an open road compared to New York City. The average speed of a vehicle in Manhattan is 8 mph. Oh, HEELS all the way - NEVER wedge soles...
