Good comparison! I recently received my Bordon Isidro pair from last summer’s Save the Ocean release. They have the Vibram 430 mini-lug (no choice for outsole was offered), and I think the 430 is the perfect sole for a rugged Chelsea like the Isidro. My first Chelsea, I was hoping they would fit me, and they fit perfectly in the same size as my Tukano boots from Bordon. Although a bit frustrated with the 38 week wait time, I immediately ordered a Wanes from their latest release, in a W&C traditional harness like Christian Daniel used on the Larry. I believe in Bordon and appreciate their boots and philosophy.

Long wait but at the end worth it

Lovely! I've found Bordon Boots to be quite worth the wait.

Bordon reminds me of the Red Wing aesthetic…I’m considering them (Wanes/Blacksmith style) along with RW and Truman for my “more rugged” boot for work (something like Nick’s is *too* rugged for my needs) to complement Diesels

      Good “double act”

Thanks, @@Bootlosophy, I figure it’ll be a versatile pairing, allowing me to range from ladders to some conference presentations with just two pairs. While I admire collections of dozens…I have no intentions of being *that* diverse in my footwear options!

At 10:00, I noticed on Bordons website, they show the Isidro with a 1/2 tapered midsole.
I think he changed to that design because the 1/2 midsole does flex better at the ball of your foot. You may want to ask him and verify that.

I second that. Looking at the picture on their website, the midsole is thinner in the forefoot and then thicker at the midfoot and heel.

@@wonkydonkey7899 ...Yes, there's actually 2 layers. The rear 1/2 sole appears to be a full 5mm, and the full sole appears to be a thinner 3mm, equivalent to the rubber slip sole below it. The 1/2 sole is added to the rear, in order to provide level distribution of the wedge sole, and better arch support for the type of last he is using.

@@Condor1970 Thanks for the further explanation. It seems like what Teik has is the original design. From front to back it’s the same thickness.

thanks for the video, I enjoy it as always.
I'll never understand why anyone would like to stitchdown the upper with midsole AND outsole. Not only it looks so-so (IMHO), but it has also few drawbacks: 1. it takes away the space for lugs on the sole, so it does have a negative (to whatever degreee but still) impact on the gripness but it also means that the thread used for sawing the whole boot together can be easier destroyed (on hard rocks etc). why not just stitch upper and midsole together and glue the outsole down? or even blake stitch upper and midsole and stitchdown the midsole and outsole (afaik it's called 'rapid blake')?

Great video, Teik, It is very informative and valuable. I only have one pair of Chelsea boots, the Grant Stone in brown CXL; not my best fit. You know I am looking forward to getting a pair of RM Williams Comfort Craftsman… let's see how it goes.
Now, I have become a big fan of Wedge soles; I have found myself choosing more and more boots with this type of soles. I find them comfortable and good looking IMO. On the other hand, commando soles are not my cup of tea. Maybe my lifestyle does not require the use of such a rugged sole. I expected my Tukano v2 to arrive soon, and I went for the studded sole other than the commando.
    Thanks again, my friend!!
