You are so amazing at what you do and always bring some of the happiest tears in my eyes to know there are people as yourself that cares so much for the wonderful species you have. I truly hope the best for you and your business.
Beautiful video, I love watching the lure technique done properly it is just poetry. When I first started for some reason I found it really difficult and then one day it went so well my mentor had a tear in his eye and I still remember his words "You'll do nicely" and he took me for a beer and I never looked back. Thanks for sharing Amy. Take care and stay safe. ❤️
I'm trying to imagine the connection you must feel with that bird when all has gone well and it is time to reward it, and to have that relationship with such a magnificent creature.
Oddly enough, my mother would work lures like this on me when I was a little kid. When it was time for supper, she'd throw out a hot dog tied to a string into the back yard and within minutes she'd lure me into the house where upon she would tell me to clean up and get to the dinner table. Thanks as always for the great videos!
Thanks Amy , love your vids . Had no idea the subject would touch my heart the way it does . So beautiful their ability and your skill & care. That trickster Fable drew me in . boop boop !
Wow, watching this I can only imagine the adrenalin rush involved in knowing you are working with a wild animal as one. Just totally amazing. You are super Amy, just amazing :)

Thanks a lot, Amy, for this "classic Falconry" Vid! It always amazes me, when truly Experts in their field show the learning process of certain skills. It looked so easy in the first part with the falcon, and only with your Explanation of the steps I realized, how much practise is really necessary. :) Thanks again, hope your doing well. ;)
I've had many people cry when a falcon flies at them for the first time. You can feel perfectly ready until it's time to do the real thing. The pressure can be massive if you don't learn to go with the flow!
I can’t say enough about your channel! This is one of the most informative responsible and interesting channels on UA-cam. I didn’t know I would find this subject so interesting. I love it and look forward to every video you put out. And I absolutely love my Fable coffee mug!! 💕
Great job explaining things Amy. I’ve been a falconer for close to 40 years,....most of my life. I think it’s hard for folks outside of our community to fully grasp how playful a falcon can be and how much they enjoy chasing a lure(not all do,...but most) I’ve been focused on flying passage Merlin’s for the last 10 years.....and Merlin’s LOVE the lure! Keep doing a great job. You’re shining a positive light on our art. Best wishes, Bill.
Wow are you good at not only falconry, but instructing as well. I especially like when you you showed what the incorrect method was, those visuals are important to those of us that learn visually. Please keep educating us Amy! Give Fable a Boop Boop from me! 😁❤️🦅🦉
Thank you Amy for taking us into your world, be it for ever such a few minutes. Apart from your expertise where it concerns your work as a falconer, the camera work is so impressive. I hope you know how great it is that through your eyes we get a small sense of what your days are like. I had no inkling of what it means to be a falconer. Living in The Netherlands I do not think I will ever get the chance to get close to this kind of work. Therefore I am grateful that you give us the opportunity to learn and understand about birds of prey. It also gives me the opportunity to understand more and better wild life preservation. Again, thank you!
Wow that's quite a skill you have there! It is fascinating to see how involved the technique is and you explain the reasons wonderfully. Thankyou so much for posting. I learned something today!
Wow, I'd only seen dragging lures before. Really interesting to see this type that is so similar to rope darts! Looking forward to the future episodes!
Working with Owls and Kestrels as a kid was such an honour i did'nt fully appreciate at the time but these videos make me realise i would give everthing up tomorrow to do this everyday.
Since I was a kid I had this idea of maybe becoming a falconer. Pretty sure that's not gonna happen anymore (and probably wouldn't be right for me) but now I live that interest through you. :3
I'm practicing along in my living room with a Lincoln Log attached to some twine 😄 Thank you for the various angles, the slow motion, and the repetition of the movements, this is super helpful.
Like others here, I got lured in by Fable. But having shot and edited educational videos myself, I think yours are really well done. Great videography and good audio, and you do a great job of explaining technical matters clearly.
Very informative and easy to follow, Amy! Over the last 43 years, I've seen many a bird injured or killed by bad technique whilst swinging and delivering the lure! Just about 2 weeks ago, a young lad who I taught to train and fly a Harris hawk killed his Lannerette. My health is not too good at the moment, so I couldn't teach him.I advised him to at least go on a short lure course. But he was adamant and confident enough to dive in head first! Unfortunately, he has paid the price for it! Once again, Amy, great video! Take care and best wishes.
Fascinating video! You are so skilled at every aspect of your craft! I’m amazed at the husbandry, care, training, dedication, and love that you have. Thank you for inviting us into your life. I can’t wait for the next video, and wonder how you are able to still produce these beautiful videos while your life is in such turmoil. Thank you again, Amy, from all of us who love what you do and who you are. Hoping you’re finding a few minutes a day for training Bryn (sp?) I just don’t see how you get it all accomplished but I am totally in awe of you. 👍❤️
I'm just focusing on sit and recall at the moment and a little retrieval every other day. I dont know how but I always seem to find just enough time. Although I've got no where else to be haha
Thank you so much for this video. I'm hoping to get a falcon after the passing of my old kestrel, and this video has helped me a great deal in getting the practice and skills needed to lure fly the bird. I love this video because you explain how to do it in stages, and unlike some other videos I've seen, how to throw the lure forwards and retract it for a pass.
Had the opportunity to visit Dorset Falconry Center in the summer of 2019 and I was amazed by these incredible birds and the bond a falconer creates with them. My best friend has worked with Peregrines in Manitoba, Canada and Ive always been amazed by it. So much respect for the work you do for your birds. Been two months now since I last swung a lure but the callus is still just about there! When I was first learning I took a lure with me when I went away to do ecology work.
