- It's been a crazy week/month/year/era and it's ok if you're feeling a little bit off, I know I am! So today I just wanted to connect, play with some makeup and try out the new Purito BB Creams. Digressions in today's chat include: how I got into k-beauty, 11 year old photos from my college years, why 2020 might just be the challenge we needed, why it's ok to not be ok (and why it's gonna be ok), and what I'm doing to give my brain a break!

This was so nice to watch. Even though it’s sad that everyone is having a rough year, it’s nice to know you’re not alone. I’m so thankful to all the content creators making videos etc to keep me entertained and my sanity intact. You, the Welsh brothers, Leighannsays, Taylor Wynn and Jessica Braun are at the top of my list. I’ve gotten really into vlogs too, even though everyone is mostly staying home, it’s nice to just “hang out” with them. Wishing you the best!
I feel ya Kelly! I live in Canada, and the election has been stressful to think about. I can only imagine how it has been for you! Obviously we know the outcome now (thank goodness), but still so much uncertainty in general 🤞

I can completely understand your feelings about the pandemic. To be honest, I feel like I haven't been affected as much as many people have ( and I'm someone who doesn't mind spending time at home I guess ?), and I certainly do feel almost guilty when people say how bad they're doing because of it and I'm feeling rather ok... Although I have been struggling, I feel like this situation wasn't the whole focus of it, and sometimes I think I still don't fully realise what's happening, things feel so surreal that I almost can't process it.
It's weird to feel guilty for feeling ok, I know what you mean! It has hard on some of my friendships but I think everyone has a unique challenge they have to face this year, at the end of it we are all facing something.
You did your makeup while I was doing my laundry. Loved this type of video! We were like two friends chatting if that makes any sense!
I was just like you about makeup but in my case I used makeup to cover all my skin insecurities and blemishes. I didn’t have much money as a student and unfortunately my mom didn’t know anything about makeup or skincare to help me out understand what was going on with my skin. Until 3 years ago I started my skincare journey and now I barely use makeup because I love showing off my skin. I just use it to enhance my features and cover my dark circles, skincare helped me to love my skin as it is instead of trying to cover it.
This is a nice chit chat and purito review is good. Here in the Philippines we’ve been hit by typhoon after typhoon almost weekly. There’s no electricity from we’re i live for 3 days now. There’s a lot of destruction everywhere here as aftermath of typhoons. But i used my saved power in my powerbank to watch your video. Thanks for reminding as that it’s ok not to be ok. in terms of brain breaks: I knit, go for walks and currently I'm training my cats to accept a harness so I can walk them in the backyard on a leash. :)
I've had a rough couple of weeks until 1-2 weeks ago and went through a dark time. for the first time ever I tried asking my friends for support, feeling like the biggest failure of all times because I "had to do that". luckily a lot of them showed up and supported me through it all and I'm already feeling much better now.
I know it sounds stupid, but this was a major progress for me.
Hey Kelly, I know what you mean about feeling bad for feeling okay when everyone was struggling earlier this year - and then feeling isolated if you've not been okay lately. But it will get better! I love that you are talking truth while you do your makeup. It kind of normalizes it, you know? Your level of sharing is healing. The isolation is the worst part, no matter how fine one is being alone. Not being able to reach out for a hug, or lean in to listen, or touch someone lightly on the arm. It’s been hard and it’s going to keep being hard, but it’s not forever. And speaking of makeup...😄...I got two shades of the Missha bb cream by accident and found that I had to blend the two to get a shade that worked for me. Per Robert Welsh that’s more the norm than I was aware of.

the 2 lightest shades are like.... straight up gray. They're not dark at all, they just don't seem to suit warmer complexions :)
Yeah I find bb creams in generally to be tricky for warm complexions (all that zinc and titanium are straight up white).
They're atrocious! I was excited to try it but I have pale and very warm complexion...Guaranteed I would be asked if I was feeling okay if I had this kind of shade on...
Raf... yes they looked very gray.... who wants to be gray😬 They seemed to make Kellys complexion cooler🤔
Kelly I’m there with you at being stressed now and just too much going on... really need a vacation. This video definitely helped me relax! Another thing that always works is the double cleanse podcast from the Welsh brothers - always a hit and full of humor and kindness

It was good to see a chatty getting ready with you. I find doing skincare and make up is the most relaxing part of the day and makes things feel 'normal' again and you're focusing on yourself for a bit. We're in lockdown 2.0 as they're calling it in the UK although slightly better than the first one because no panic buying and a few more things allowed to open. But the days are dark and cold which can be a plus for some people as it doesn't make you want to go out but i prefer the sunny warm days. Wishing you the best

I am the woman who wrote to you, thanking you for your help in aiding me with a healthy skin barrier. I am thinking of ordering the Purito BB cream, but it comes in 3 colors. I am on the warmer side. Usually right in the middle of beige. Do you think purity’s Sand shade will work for me, and does the BB cream self correct to match the skin tone? I left out that I am an Esthetician, but have been out of the game for quite some time, due to personal reasons. I still cannot thank you enough for your well planned, informative and entertaining vlogs. You really do your research on the products and explain so thoroughly. Lastly, I am thinking of changing from Cosrx snail product in the pump bottle to their snail product in the jar. Could you give me some advice on that?

Oooh, must check out this bb cream! I have been distracting myself with retail therapy. Recently got my Sephora VIB haul, and I found a great serum foundation! It's the Ilia super serum skin tint, it's like sunscreen, coverage and skincare ingredients all in one. Kinda pricey, which is why I waited for the sale. And I have also been looking for a liquid highlighting drop to mix in to a foundation, and got the color fx custom enhancer drops, which I'm loving so far. Neither have fragrance, eo or alcohol. Hopefully the makeup world is catching up to the skincare world! Also that peach and lily primer is on my wishlist, just watching for a sale. Thanks for the video Kelly!
I'm using 27# and I have oily skin, I use oil control skincare!! Based on that this is really matte on me, I love it !! I feel like it will match whatever skincare you put under!! Moisturizing or oily control skincare!!

I'm doing kind of terrible and haven't been doing much to distract myself these past few months. But this was a good distraction. :) Also, since you mentioned her, I was completely obsessed with the royal family as a child. I remember what I was doing the morning that they announced Princess Diana's death on the radio ~ I was sitting at my godmother's kitchen table eating a bowl of cereal. We were getting ready to go on a bus trip to Amish Country in PA with her church.
I’m on the same page as you *Kelly*. When the pandemic hit, it didn’t hit our small town almost at all in the beginning, we didn’t have our first case, confirmed case I should say, until May. Everything was open for at least drive thru, my husbands job was doing good. We cut back on our expenses a little and bought some extra food to make it if something big did happen. But I was fine. I’m a home body anyways so I was perfectly fine staying at home, I did anyways before the pandemic hit.
Then it started building and building in August-September. More and more cases started popping up in our area. Stores started cutting back on hours. Restaurants started closing temporarily. Seemed like when everyone else was coming out of quarantine, we were really just starting to go in. Now our little county of a little over 10,000 people is having upwards of a 100 cases a week, masks are mandatory everywhere now. We have 6 grandkids and 2 nephews with bdays in November and December that we are trying to have virtual parties for. My daughters 3rd bday is in January. Christmas and thanksgiving are coming up with no idea how we are going to do anything. Money is getting tight because business is slowing down at my husbands plant. They cut his hours and pay. It really seems like it is a wave. The bigger cities got hit hard and now it’s rippling into the farm lands. Our Governor in Ohio is talking about shutting the whole state down again. I’m scared. We don’t have money to buy food some weeks and other weeks we struggle to pay our car insurance, electric, water, and internet bill. It’s rough. I hoped we would have a vaccine by now. I’m just nervous and scared of what’s to come. I’m already thinking about going back on my antidepressants that I haven’t had to take in 5 years because I can’t sleep, can’t eat some times, and can’t stop thinking.
I’m just glad that people understand. I really did feel like I was going crazy for awhile. Because I did feel fine and feel confident when this all started. And now my confidence is shattering. I feel lost and hopeless. I have a 2yr and an Ailing father with lung and heart problems that I worry about. Some days I just don’t know what to do!!!! Thank you for this video if you see this Kelly. It means the world to have someone talk about this and understand where people are coming from. Your the best 😘

I ordered 21 in Purito BB cream. It was under 10 dollars so I figured I try. I have dry skin. Haven’t received it yet. I have cabin fever and I am a Homebody. This year is a struggle. I have my ups and downs all this year. I live alone and I very isolated also. I was very stressed during the election “week”. Very anxious. I am reading, watching movies and crocheting.I am very interested in history most my life so I been learning some more. Hugs hope your feeling better.
I have a feeling the bb cream will work for you, it's not drying like some can be! I love history too, I was reading up on the Salem Witch Trials in the summer and it was insanely interesting!
oooh I'm excited to see your opinion on the purito bb cream ! when I looked at the ingredients I was slightly disappointed by the filters they're using :/
It's surprising since most bb creams use only mineral I found it comfortable but the chemical filters probably won't work for all!
@@KellyDriscoll actually the mineral filters usually worry me more ! I remember trying the cosrx cushion and on other people it looked really good but my skin reacted so bad to it it became very cakey and exacerbated any crease or bump I had, which is a reaction I later realised I sometimes get with mineral sunscreens...

Have you ever tried The Face Shop Waterproof BB SPF50+? I have combo skin and as long as my face is moisturized this stuff just works. I always want to try different things with cuter packaging but for two years I just find that this works for me. It’s always hot here and even tho the other day I took my daughter to the zoo on a blazing hot day and we wore masks the whole time when I took the mask off that stuff was still pretty decent looking. I pat it on with my fingers then use a cushion sponge to even it out.
I wish to see you wearing the color 27. Seems like also suited you, you have warm tone.

I've noticed something! I'm infected with COVID (got it at work, as I'm a nurse). I've noticed my skin DOES NOT WANT TO HEAL. On top of all the crappy symptoms and rules that I have to follow to not infect anyone else in my family, my breakouts don't want to leave me!! Ahaha it's like the cherry on top of the cake really.

I also liked the missha and skin79 ones but now I'm looking for one that's fragrance/ essential oil free and so far I only found the klairs one but it's a bit too dark (missha shade #13 is mine).

Hi Kelly for me youtube beauty videos are escapism from real life. Skincare and makeup have been my hobby for a long time, although skincare is the primary love in that realm. To that end I've been doing a lot more masking, facial massage with background music I like and playing with different makeup techniques. These things are out with my normal daily skincare and/or makeup routine. Here in Scotland we're very restricted, but not yet in full lockdown mode again. I haven't seen my sisters since last xmas and my mum only once all year. We don't live near each other and we're not allowed to visit other people's homes, nor other areas of the country. I live with my partner so I'm not completely alone, but it has been incredibly isolating not to see family or friends all year. Our guidelines seem much stricter than other parts of the world. We haven't ate out all year, we haven't been able to meet up with family and/or friends and Scotland isn't somewhere to have outside meetups out with the Summer months. I'm tired of not seeing anyone, I'm tired of just phoning and I want contact with other people. I normally love Christmas. I like buying and giving thoughtful gifts, meeting up with friends and family and the whole process of it. This year I might as well not bother as we can't even meet up with close family - that's not Christmas as far as I'm concerned. Tbh I want the escapism from the whole thing through beauty videos, rather than focussing on all the ways this year has impacted my (and other people's) life. Best wishes.

I love your video ❤️ You're soo pretty.. Your suggestion is so effective.. I've been using benton snail essence for some days & which is good for acne prone skin & also sensitive skin.. Recently, I want to use tiam b3 source serum( for discoloration, dark spot & brighten up my skin) with Cosrx snail essence ( as a moisture in summer)..

Ugh the new Purito BB Cream, what a disappointment! I was looking forward to actually buy the product, but it was wise to wait for a demo, because it's going to be a hard pass! The grey colour of the product it doesn't suit anyone. They need to reformulate this! You saved me a few dollars lol

I love purito, but they are catering to a western audience and they dont have a shade above NC30? I mean... come on. It's just.. Im done with that. I hope they adjust their shade range. I wont be buying this.
