Those are some great suggestions and advice for lake trout definitely going to be adding those to my repertoire. Good luck with your new UA-cam channel Mac really hope the best for you man
Awesome tips..you helped us fuel up our boat a couple summers ago and your advice put us on a 40" pike that night. Hoping to make it back up at some point and book you as a guide!
Great advice, can't stress the small lures enough. Just like musky fishing, the action is better with smaller lures and you will still have a chance at catching that big one.
Just a helex 7 is good. I like units that you can zoom in on the bottom. Most important thing is just to keep working the water collum to draw fish in!
i just got back from 3 weeks in northern sask chasing lakers, no monsters but such a good trip. i bought that mac attack rod and its very good quality and handled lakers no prob! always a fan of timber rods! keep up the good job mac!
You know, I have always used a pretty big chunk of meat. I have also always used a pretty big tube jig, because I like a faster falling presentation. That being said, I do terribly more often than not when I go for lakers. I will keep these tips in mind next time! Sweet vid
Mac what's your email address? You got nothing in your ''About'' on your youtube page. Put your email in your About and i will share some info about the areas you fish. More backcountry lakes around the Cranberry.

Thanks dude. I definitely feel there is alot of misconceptions about laker fishing and I'm hoping I cleared some up in this clip!
@@MacMulligan I’m the same way with down sized baits too constantly working 4” tubes or smaller hair jigs.
Good video, lots of good advice!
Glad you liked it! 👍
I’ll be looking for some of those special videos landing huge lakers. Good luck with your u-tube channel Mac!

Awesome stuff here Mac🤟
Appreciate it dude! 🙏
Great information!!! Ppl wouldn’t believe the big lakers we’ve caught off small tubes I’m talking 2.5inch tubes I seen some giants caught
Seriously, it's absolutely crazy how a huge fish can key in on such small presentations! Like I said, the elephant eats the peanuts!
“Catch the fishermen…”. LOL Sooo true!
Great advice, can't stress the small lures enough. Just like musky fishing, the action is better with smaller lures and you will still have a chance at catching that big one.
1000% dude!
Solid tips, thank you. Based on what you’re sharing do you have a preference in of a MH or H in the Timber Guide Series Mac Attack Ice Rod?
That would be correct, or the timber big ticket medum or medum heavy.
Outta the 2 rods u suggest, which would u recommend that could dbl as a walleye rod. Heavy, or medium heavy. Thanks
The medium Mac Attack can do both
Thanks for the tips.
What 2d sonar do you use and what one do you recommend for those not wanting to spend a mint?

Right on! Keep me posted on how you do!
@@MacMulligan lol I would, but it will be a long time before I am within a few hundred kilometers of a lake trout
Just a beauty guide arent ya.
I try 😆
That’s some great advice. Now I want to see you pull a giant out in front of Mr Schick. All the best on your channel.
Challenge accepted Hahahaha
Great video Mac start small and increase size
Thanks Mike!
Living in Maine. I have NEVER seen a lake trout swim down from under the ice.
If color doesn't matter, then why is half of what @ClaytonSchickOutdoors says "If it aint chartreuse, it aint no use!!!"?
Hahahaha
The reds seem to work well everywhere
@MacMulligan what kind of rods are you using? I find most rods on the market have small guides and I love the larger guides for preventing freeze up
Tips to catch more lake trout go to Canada..
Hahahaha 😆 😂
