  • Before the big snow storm, we got out two more times to cut firewood. We used our Husqvarna 545 XP and Stihl MS261 chainsaws along with the 1981 Case David Brown 995 with 58hp and Farmi winch.

      2022 we had hurricane Fiona blow through. It was pretty bad. So we decided not to cut any more trees down and head in for the windthrows. They're a pain in the ass to cut and get to but well worth the effort. The old tractor Winston has is a beast for sure.

    Man you had a lot of blow downs! I just learned about the purge bulb. I guess the purpose is to pull gas through the carb and get rid of any vapors. You need to push it 5-6 times after putting the choke on and the take it off choke before trying to start. Just for a warm engine. Otherwise leave the choke on. Doing that my new husky starts every time. I used to think it put extra gas in the carb. Saw a good video on it.

    • @OpenAirAdventure
      @OpenAirAdventure  6 місяців тому +1

      Actually, the saw was warm, and Winston had the choke on thinking it was off. He's used to the Stihl. But I hear ya, brother Jeff. There is definitely a system to starting a powersaw. We have lots of windthrows and hopefully we can salvage most of them before they rot. Especially the birch.
