The fact that the thought of him being good didn't cross their minds could mean that malevolent beings are relatively common and benevolent ones not so much. Would also explain the fear from his father and his teacher.

The inquisition misdiagnoses treatable illnesses as evil spirits and Farma's knowledge saves those innocents, BUT there really are evil spirits in this world and Farma in ill-equipped to handle them and need's the church's expertise in those situation. So it's a mutually benefiting arrangement.
Yes, it's the only setting where an inquisition is not only acceptable but necessary. Tho it should have fail-safes to prevent abuse of power. From what we heard, the church is already way more powerful than any country.
well his prescence alone deters evil spirits so he didn't think they existed, at the least once he teaches the inquisition ways to diagnose the possibility of mental disease causing changes and treatments to try first before assuming it's an evil spirit at play they can actually do so much more (that and he does actually meet an evil spirit and obliterates it's very existance compared to what the church does which is just drive the evil spirit out as thats all they can do)
Farma doesn't believe that evil spirits are real until he meets one in his laboratory. Several characters mention that evil spirit actively avoid his presence as he exudes a holy presence that drives them away. His barriers also drive them away and help protect from illnesses.

Anime "holy" churches are 90% of the time a threat, so the only proper response is to send their crucified, still living bodies to their "holy" church with explosives attached set to detonate the moment someone tries healing magic. The giveaway to Solomon was the complete Mark of the Medicine God and the infinite divine power since those with the complete mark are said to be incarnations of that God and not just vessels for a gift of power from it and the power accumulation was so ridiculous he finally pieced together an explaination for no shadow

Actually for the most part the church in this series aren't that bad, without giving away any spoilers there is a very good reason they are highly suspicious of people with very unusual bodies. Its like finding someone with special powers and there being a 99.9%chance of them being the antichrist and the remaining percent is them a holy saint.
Eh, not always. Just look at Ascension of a Bookworm; they really screwed up the finale of season 3 in that one. Most likely due to budget constrains, but it still kinda hurt considering how awesome that scene was in the novel.

They aren't evil. They simply thought he was an evil spirit trying to infiltrate society. Which would have been _really_ bad so of course they tried to eliminate him. Demonic Possession is a thing in that world. From their perspective, giving him time to explain himself would have just given him a chance to either attack them by surprise or trick them. Honestly, considering how nasty the actual Church was during the middle ages these guys are practically saints in comparison lol.

Evil Spirits are a hugely common problem in their world and the Gods descending is extremely rare and the central church will quickly cover it up and hide the God in their headquarters so the inquisition had not got that on their mind as a posibility, it's only when the mark appeared due to him preparing to cast magic that the Grand Inquisitor saw it and put the dots together
well if they did knock off anything else, people would either call it racist or engage in a real life holy war. Christianity is the only religion you can depict in fiction without people getting violent.

@@dimarhuzz2254 there is also the fact that 'evil' is a subjective term anyway. Ie irseal and Arabic counties both consider the other evil. But are either in actuality? Up to every individual person.
War, for instance, has no evil side and righteous side generally. Just two sides clashing in ideals and morals. That is the horror of war. What people will do when they *think* they are right.
They aren't evil. They simply thought he was an evil spirit trying to infiltrate society. Which would have been _really_ bad so of course they tried to eliminate him. Demonic Possession is a thing in that world. From their perspective, giving him time to explain himself would have just given him a chance to either attack them by surprise or trick them. Honestly, considering how nasty the actual Church was during the middle ages these guys are practically saints in comparison lol.
@@zacharyperea3624 There are some things that are just inherently evil, leaving it up to perspective is just a convenient excuse. The sentiment isn't entirely wrong, that's why there's no such thing as true justice, whoever wins becomes justice, that doesn't change the fact that there are some things that are just blatantly unjust.

People who think it is are the most likely to become corrupt. Since they see good and bad as absolutes they also never take the time to consider circumstances. Which changes the dynamic of whether somthing is good or evil
Furthermore just is not the opposite of evil. Something can be unjust and still not be evil.

Eh, not really. Without spoiling too much, at the very least these guys in particular are decent people with a very good reason to think Farma is a threat that needs to be eliminated. The church IRL is rotten to the core with zero redeeming qualities and was somehow even worse during the Middle Ages.
Honestly this one makes no sense why don’t these officials know anything about their own gods that they worship. They even Believe such people are chosen and marked by the gods so you think they would check first honestly I don’t see the religious elements of Christianity religion fitting in this show it probably be closer to Roman or Greek Religious practices
Evil Spirits are a hugely common problem in their world and the Gods descending is extremely rare and the central church will quickly cover it up and hide the God in their headquarters so the inquisition had not got that on their mind as a posibility, it's only when the mark appeared due to him preparing to cast magic that the Grand Inquisitor saw it and put the dots together

Tbh a iskeai protag that just wants to heal people is pretty unique. Closest ive ever seen is slow life of a cheat pharmacist. But that is slice of life pure and simple. And each episode is self contained. So not at all the same
