If someone like Pain used the same transformations then he'd hit way harder, that's why both have a massive cooldown period of one day. You also have to recognize the possibility that some of Maple's damage is likely defense based, since that's something fairly common for shield classes, sure she won't normally hit as hard as an offense build, but that's where her out of the ordinary playstyle comes into play since she naturally finds skill most players wouldn't because they require doing things most people never would (players can't even replicate her actions to acquire said skills since the devs made sure to make the most problematic ones, like Hydra, harder to acquire.) It's not exactly uncommon for players to find a build that trivializes everything else the player could invest in if you're willing to sacrifice certain things (like the fact that Maple is normally slow as crap, meaning that travel around town would be aggravating to most players, thus making the build rather inconvenient for your average player, regardless of the battle potential.)
@@homerman76 And that lack of traveling ability is why she never moves from this one spot during the entire event. I must agree. her offense skills are great. she defeated a poisonous dragon when her best attack was to bite the enemy. not even Son Goku has ever managed to kill an enemy by eating it.
Also she is so innocent she actually said "I took a pounding but I liked its" and got super embarrassed because she tripped over her tounge, not the way she said it
with the way the math and her event skills worked out a player with a balanced build would need to be 16x her level to even have a chance of inflicting a single point of damage on her.
They nerf her several times adding in ignore defense skills, and a few other examples. Just the whole point is Maple gets more and more outrageous as the series goes on.
Maple and Sally's pets were also considered overpowered on their own. So naturally the devs balanced them by giving _everyone_ pets and then balancing the game from that point around having them.
@@Elmithianthat and people were getting mad they were nerfing her, like she's a dark souls boss or hardcore raid. Edit: I was mistaken, the ARMOR was from her soloing the boss, the SKILLS (both the aoe and one shot shield tap) were both gained from literally eating the boss, which dealt massive poison damage. Plus she can only use it as much as she can because of an oversight, she put them on her equipment and due to that they didn't cost mana. They likely didn't expect anyone to gain access to gear that could hold skills this early into the game's life cycle.
The best part is she's just playing the game how she THINKS it should be played and still breaks EVERYTHING to the point that even the strongest player who took her seriously was killed by her in-game of course but it's hilarious
Can we take a moment to appreciate and acknowledge how high her battle IQ is? She knew exactly what to do in that 1v100+ scenario even though she’s only played like a couple of weeks, like how she used “deadly breath” to poison everyone, and then uses “paralyzing shout” to stun them so that they can’t run away from the poison. All she really needs is faster sight, so that she could dodge unnecessary attacks, like how she let that morning star bump off her head, so that all she really needs to do is dodge and parry. Because we do know that she takes damage, but the damage is basically nothing. If she could dodge everything while using her skills, battle IQ, and shield all together, she’d genuinely be a final boss

Obviously the world of the game isn't perfect, but then again, what MMO is? It's not exactly uncommon for players to find a build that trivializes everything else the player could invest in if you're willing to sacrifice certain things (like the fact that Maple is normally slow as crap, meaning that travel around town would be aggravating to most players, thus making the build rather inconvenient for your average player, regardless of the battle potential.)
@@homerman76 And that lack of traveling ability is why she never moves from this one spot during the entire event. She legit was just standing there letting everyone come to her because of the high amount of points they would get. If they avoided her and stayed away none of them would have been killed.
I must agree. her offense skills are great.
she defeated a poisonous dragon when her best attack was to bite the enemy.
not even Son Goku has ever managed to kill an enemy by eating it.
Imagine realizing that you're out of your league, so you go to run away but the boss paralyzes you so you just have to sit in the poison miasma.
You pretty much described Monster Hunter tho.
Their fault for getting in way over their head imo

with the way the math and her event skills worked out a player with a balanced build would need to be 16x her level to even have a chance of inflicting a single point of damage on her.

My War Criminal Couldn't Possibly Be This Cute!
I love this anime and light novel.
Maple is a legend.
I love how the developer's are pro-active in this series. They saw how bullshit our main protag's skill was and nerfed it right away.
and in the meantime make it worse with every single thing they do
They nerf her several times adding in ignore defense skills, and a few other examples. Just the whole point is Maple gets more and more outrageous as the series goes on.
@@shadeling6717 And then they just give up and use her as promotional device
@@skell6134 Which was the best decision they ever made.
Maple and Sally's pets were also considered overpowered on their own. So naturally the devs balanced them by giving _everyone_ pets and then balancing the game from that point around having them.

Hentai artists: Write that down, write that down
Shes honestly adorable lol
Biggest reason to watch this anime imo, along with the fun of seeing what bizarre and OP power-up she'll get next
Now imagine if the devs HADN'T patched Hydra's Shield and Maple could still do *this* 0:54 unimpeded.
In the end they all just gave up. XD
@@josephsuh525 Made her a Boss they did. Since no other path for fairness was possible.
And just like that, Maple became one of the games most cutest and popular players.
So Hoppy!!
Let's be honest it's not the there top ranked players but actually two players and a special hidden boss
Yup that checks out 🤣
Our war criminal can't be this cute UwU
The best part is she's just playing the game how she THINKS it should be played and still breaks EVERYTHING to the point that even the strongest player who took her seriously was killed by her in-game of course but it's hilarious
@@MDKGunner yep

If she turns evil, we're all f***ed. 😳😆
then thank good that its just a game
Plot twist: Maple was the inspiration for Pekora.
If she could dodge everything while using her skills, battle IQ, and shield all together, she’d genuinely be a final boss
dodging requires agility... something she herself states she has nothing put into
@@greywoode5172 her agility is abysmal to the point that she walks so slow. The only time she needs to be carried is by literally carrying her on your back to travel faster lmao
@@johns5641 yep

I like how not a single person who got paralyzed don't have any immunity at all.
I think immunity only comes with damage in this rpg
@@MaxLeCnkerant I mean atleast there should be atleast someone has immunity. I mean if she got hydra... You know what I can't change the story and I'm not really complaining so let's leave it at that ahahaha.
Pretty sure player stats dictate how quickly they gain related skills. Super high vitality means you gain defensive and survivability skills super quick. Having zero Agility however means you probably won't acquire the Swimming skill any time soon.
if you want to get immunity of any negative status in this anime, you need to make sure that you are able to survive with that status within the duration requirement to be immune to that status, maple spams potions to get her poison immunity during her battle against Hydra and also there one character also get poison immunity while healing herself overtime after being hit by maple"s hydra during the guild battle event
@@3qraiko553 Yeah. So you're telling me that only maple had the idea (in her case she really didn't thought of it. More like she just did what she want.) and not a single player had any brains to think of that?
Her counterattack is warcrime
The Devs after they start the event: Why is there boss music? It's a battle royal there shouldn't be any boss music!
Maple : I took a pounding but I liked it ....
What kind of pounding are we talking about? 😆

Can you imagine if there was a game that had a massive AOE attack like that?
Imagine if a “Dive” helmet gets created and someone teamed up with the creator of Happy Wheels to create a Dive version of it. 😂
As for the AOE attack effect, yeah that would be interesting to see if a developer team could balance it.
When you actually get the boss skill after beating the boss instead of just getting a nerfed version of it.
I mean the only way to get it is soloing a dungeon boss.
I just realize that 3 guys at 0:38 are reference of Black Tri-stars from original Mobile suit Gundam since they share similar face and use Jetstream attack
Gaia, Mash, and Ortega
I had the same reaction as the players when that Morningstar bounced off her head. 😂
Wont lie, if I was a contestant and died to that, I would wouldn't even be angry. 😅
I've enjoyed the two seasons of this anime so far because there's no convoluted plot like you'd see in SAO and it's not yet another copy pasted isekai, it's simply a bunch of people enjoying a VR game and having actual fun. Even the rivalries are a convenience plot for friendships which I like, sometimes you don't need a villain to tell a good story.
Let's not forget, the writer gave us in universe explanation for why the MC has plot armor... That's not something that typically gets an in universe explanation.
@@deathsheir2035, what was the explanation?
@@denislima28 the literal name of the anime carries the explanation. But if I must: She maxed out her defense, and did not spend a single point on other stats.
@@deathsheir2035, I was asking about the plot armor.
Maple putting everything in defense is not plot armor, it's a choice.
@@denislima28 The PLOT of the story, is about a girl who doesn't want to get hurt while playing a video game. Her ARMOR, is the high defense, because she chose to put everything in defense.
Majority of all main characters, live to the end of the story. as a result they have METAPHORICAL PLOT ARMOR, because the plot demands them to live.
Maple has LITERAL PLOT ARMOR, because her armor is literally part of the plot.
Therefore: PLOT ARMOR WITH AN EXPLANATION!
