- Kyoto is one of my favorite cities in Japan with its beautiful traditional culture and of course, the delicious foods. And for my first full day in Kyoto what's not a better thing to do than to go on a traditional street food tour in the area of Arashiyama. I also stopped by this tofu hotpot place, and it was an amazingly delicious experience. I loved the traditional Japanese style garden view as well, which made it so relaxing while dining.

11:39 I love how he doesn't put any filters on to make it look more "beautiful." Other youtubers put a bunch of filters to make it look different than it is. That is why some people when they go to another country are disappointed, because in the photo or video it seemed like a dream but it is the opposite. And the best part is that you can appreciate the beauty without any filter.
Mike, in all your travels, I honestly can’t remember you completely enjoying absolutely everything, and having zero complaints of even the smallest issue as you did with the delicate foods you ate at this restaurant! I believe you when you say you would or could move there for this reason. Lol
It isn’t my kind of food...tempura I could love on though as long as it is completely crispy.

Wow that tofu restaurant is beautiful what an amazing view, though I"m not a tofu lover, I have to admire the view. On another note, I really had to laugh when you "put your foot down" and said, ok I'm finally going to make it to that "tofu restaurant" and next clip is you eating/holding a huge cotton candy (giggle) I'm like "that doesn't look like tofu to me" LOL!
What I love about him is how he describes the food he's eating. Like my imagination is working, and I can taste everything :)

I love your videos, the only real thing I really like is shrimp seafood wise, but watching your video makes me want to try all these different seafoods and hot pots and things thanks to you, keep up the good work.

Kyoto has a magic about it that makes you feel this way. And it stays with you. I can remember these exact feelings of being transported to a disney like anime with sharp clarity to this day. My trip was in 2002

Mikey, the tamago was like cloudy egg heaven!! I think the chicken skin looked yummy too, but tamago is my favorite thing. The tofu looked amazing. Such food artistry.

Thank you Mikey for all of your tips on restaurants in Japan. I was born and raised in Japan but have been living in the US since I was 18. Nowadays, I’m learning where go to eat in Japan from Non-Japanese You-Tuber like yourself! I do have a suggestion for you, though. There is this most amazing Udon restaurant in Nagoya that we used to go to growing up in Japan that I still go to when I visit and the best Tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo that puts Maisen to shame! I’ll email you!
