    Alan was so helpful in my early days (2002-2005) on shroomery and later in 2009-2012 when we were trying to figure out if P. cyanescens was several species with varying morphologies, or if we were looking at one species... now that we have DNA it makes this so much easier! wonderful video, and Thanks largely in part to alan and a few others, we discovered and documented Identifying P. Alllenii (named after John W Allen, whom i forage with annually in Seattle, as his eye sight is now failing, sadly). a few years back. One of the coolest processes ive gotten to be a part of. collecting spores, and photos.

    I've had watched Alan Rockefeller before in a youtube video( in which he was looking for mushrooms in Mexico). Great job he is doing. I understand him well, because I also have that same drive, that same motivation to know what species are the mushrooms I find in the wild. Totally in tune with what he says about the connection to nature. PCR is something I'd like to do in the future, because there are a lot of species we find in nature that we examine in detail, even by microscope, and in the end, we still have doubts about its identification. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

    Great video, Adam! Its nice to see you pay it forward to someone who is grinding out information about the very subject matter we consume. Alan was the first person to respond to me about a mushroom ID I was trying to determine on mushroom observer. Wouldn't mind seeing this as a reoccurring theme on your channel with other people pushing the fungi community forward. Cheers

    • @bjiles7

      Garden Gnome....I too would love to see Adam do some videos in this area of fungi.....I havent taken "shrooms" in 15 years for a trip, but I have a few times tried micro-dosing and the results have been nothing short of amazing with 100% zero "trip" or "buzz" feeling.....I would love to see some videos of Adams opinion and his knowledge of the psilocybin fungi....micro-dosing is a whole other area to get into but just a simple video of some i.d.'s and lookalikes, area of the states where they grow and all that jazz.....I've only experienced the home grown variety, but would love to learn more on how to locate them in the wild......I know this topic is sort of taboo, but I think the modern medical "society" has started to open up on the great uses of micro-dosing. Adam, in my opinion, would be the perfect person to shorten that knowledge gap between those who are aware of its uses and those who think its a bad idea. there is no right answer, but Adam giving his knowledge could help bridge that gap a little. great idea garden gnome

      I think he obeys the sacred voice, telling him to keep it a secret, and not spread too much, too fast. These things work by whispering slowly to you, and encouraging you to seek them out. Probably like how devoted church goers wouldn't feel right watching youtube suggested, how-to videos on connecting with God. Just expose almost anything to the masses and watch it get out of control.

    • @fullup91
      @fullup91 4 роки тому +4

      @@dontsettlefor500mill you think devoted churchgoers are onto anything special? They're probably the least interested in believing true things, opting instead for anything that confirms their bias/indoctrination.
      I do think that Adam has chosen to distance his channel from the topic of psychoactive compounds, because his mild obsession for mycology eclipses that of hallucinogens.
      Though, undoubtedly, his views on the topic would be just as fascinating as everything else he puts together.
      I'd be hesitant, too. What with UA-cam's iron fist demonetizing/throttling anyone... for any reason.

    • @bjiles7
      @bjiles7 4 роки тому +5

      Rembrandt I'll try and keep it short and simple if at all possible...when I micro dosed I was going through a depressing time, not full fledge depression, but more of just a feeling of no energy after an 8 hour work day, no drive to do anything after work....feelings of sadness because I felt useless because I would come home from work and need a nap...not to mention my drive at work was gone...I was not doing anything with my work time other than trying to find ways to "not work".....I micro dosed and almost instantly I became more involved at work and my energy levels went through the roof...I didn't nap once after work and I instantly started getting involved in my hobbies again and doing more with my family once I got home from work....I was in a better mood and my emotions went from a state of sadness to a state of excitement of what I could accomplish today and tomorrow....that's the best example I can give you without giving you every little detail....but I 100% will be doing this again, I just would like to do a little more research and be more in tune with the laws and the side effects of any....I would also love to try again to see if the same things occur....I am no longer micro dosing but I am also no longer feeling low and not energetic...it's almost like the micro dose was the jump start that my body needed to get over the hump....feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer them best I can.

What do we know, and how do we know it? How do you find out about how fungi affect other plants? How do you know how big a mycelium is? Lets learn some more.

    Your being obsessed with knowing the names of things reminds me of the book The Wanderer by Francis Burney (in 1814). Naming/categorizing things/people lets us know where we stand in relation to others and vice versa and thus gives us a sense of identity ourselves. Otherwise, who would we be? Alan even said that he didn't see the point of walking in nature without being able to name/categorize things.
