I have learned more from this young man than I did in 3 plus years of college Horticulture. Even though he speaks rapidly, his enunciation of the Latin is so smooth and crystal clear. His rapid fire descriptions are so easily understood that I am constantly pausing the vids so that I can make notes. Thank you thank you thank you....

My goodness this gentleman has a brain that rapid fires info like I've never seen before he is a wealth of information. 🥰
As an environmental scientist I know my trees but I'm trying to expand my mushroom knowledge and this is hands down one of the best videos I've found on the subject with accurate info
Man, you can lay out a lot of info in a sentence or two. I love that you do it so clearly. That obviously comes from really knowing your stuff so thanks for all the hard work you didi to learn this!
He is so gosh darn smart.
What an absolute pleasure to hear a true expert speak so freely and with so much joy and enthusiasm.... Thank you so much for sharing with all those willing to learn.

@@LearnYourLand Is cordycepts good?
@@njmite2765 cordyceps is a medicinal mushroom, but does not grow in the forest. It is the result of a parasitic fungus, that consums it's host (a specific caterpillar) resulting in the 'mushroom' that we consume.
@@MsSheilaC Isnt that bad because the host has to eat it to get infected which inturn infects us?
@@njmite2765 while it is strange the way it is formed in nature, most cordyceps is control grown now. There is a lot of information (just google) re cordyceps and the benefits.

Thanks so much, Lloyd! I appreciate the kind words.
The best video I've seen on mushrooms. This guy is extremely knowledgeable.
I wish you were my neighbor I would never go home. I get so excited with your educational videos. I learned all my fossils and used to hunt, many were I am, but wish before I moved off grid I learned more about trees and wild food. Thank you and God Bless You.
You’re a great teacher ! I’ve just recently got back into mushroom hunting and already feel like I’ve learned a great deal from your videos . Thank you !
Adam, Just discovered you recently. You are so intelligent and fascinating to listen to. Thanks for sharing your information. Love your classes! 💚
Thank you!
More tree/mushroom videos! The best! Thank you Adam, you’re awesome.
I found a huge hen of the woods mushroom where I live in a red oak grove. It was really tasty and easy to identify. I have read that they can also grow on hickory trees.
With all the years i've Walked in the Woods ~ i should have learned this a lifetime ago.
So glad i learned something before i died. i shall pass this on. *Thanks so much!*
White Birch forests are a-mazing. And one mushroomed mentioned that should really stick out is Honey Mushroom. I was taught this one as "popinki" because, Eastern Europe! They're also noticeable because they can be seen at night (foxfire, greenish glow). They fry up something fantastic and make great soup. In my experience they've got a nice crispness when fried properly. Notably an Autumn mushroom mostly but when they grow, bring a couple baskets.
Excellent! As the daughter of an Audubon Society enthusiast, and dragged to all kinds of "outings" as a child, I can verify that you have an unprecedented level of knowledge and enthusiasm for your subjects. Thanks. actually enjoyable.
Yesterday I went in my backyard wooded area and found lion's mane! I've done much research and I was going to purchase a lion's mane extract the same exact day, I was/am very very thankfull
Found my first Chanterelle, it tasted unique. Thank you for helping me get into the hobby, great videos.
Love this! We have 5 acres full of different oak trees. Can’t wait to get my kids out and mushroom hunting for our nature journaling 🤓
How did your kids take to it all so far?
This was such a great video! My bf and I were out hiking through the woods in New Hampshire this weekend, and we looked up and saw something high up in a white birch tree underneath a broken branch that was black and frothy. We wondered if it was a chaga, which we had been looking for during our hikes these past couple of weeks but never were able to successfully identify. Well, after watching this video, I can confirm that we definitely saw a chaga! Recently, we've been learning about different types of trees growing in nearby forests that I've never paid attention to in the past. It's kind of like rediscovering a new aspect of nature.
can't thank you enough for this video, this really helped me id trees big time. love all your videos.

Hey Adam, love your videos, you have inspired me and after watching all your videos, hundreds of hours in the woods and building a mushroom library I find there is still so much to learn. It is apparent that your knowledge goes much deeper than many of these videos, how about you start an advanced mushroom series? Thanks again, from the whole family!
Hey Michael, thanks! And that's a great idea. Anything in particular you'd like to see in the advanced series?

For me, pine trees are on top of the list (maybe together with oaks). I think that some of the best mushrooms grow around them. I'm thinking of Lactarius Deliciosus, Lactarius Sangulfulus, Lactarius Salmonicolor and its relatives, as well as Cantharellus Lutescens.

i often use environment to find what Im looking for. environment shows whats nearby in that forest. :) (not only mushrooms, but herbs, and fish, etc... as well. :)
As well as wild woodlands, there are a lot of pine plantations near me (one being within walking distance, conveniently). Lots of people moan about the pine plantations, but a few years ago I started walking through them and found lots of different types of mushrooms.
After studying these mushrooms very, very carefully, it took me a couple of years to pluck up courage and start using them. Now I look forward to autumn mushroom season - finding Boletes, Chanterelles, Hen-Of-The-Woods, Amethyst Deceivers, Hedgehog Mushrooms, and wild Oysters.
Fantastic video. I will put this on my save list!

Hi Adam, hope you're well. So pleased you're still uploading videos. Your videos are engaging not to mention very helpful and insightful, wonderful stuff. I don't know if this matters, but want to say it. I have some heavy mental health troubles and find foraging for wild foods a healthy way of using my senses and light exercise, keeping my mind in the here and now, while releasing hormones in my brain, helping me be more balanced. I watched your video on nettles, and you said they contain serotonin. Are there any fungi that contain serotonin as well? Sorry to ask. A big thanks.
I'm not sure about serotonin in mushrooms and I'm no doctor, but I do know that the exercise and Vitamin D that you're getting by being outside are just as important in helping to release natural endorphins that can have a similar effect to serotonin. I've come to believe that eating well and exercising are more effective habits than taking a pill, any day. Getting there while struggling with mental illness is easier said than done, but it sounds like you're on the right track. You got this, Chris!
Very knowledgeable and really appreciate the tips great vid.
