Xhaka is a smart lad. He knows he cannot dribble past anybody, his ball retention is not as strong as Partey, so he has to rely on good runs and positioning to find space for him to look up and find the next good pass. Big up Xhaka
Yes, an intelligent player. He lacks the usual football skills and trait of world class players like Speed, Dribbling etc but he make it all up by using his brains. He plays to his strength. He shield the ball well, use his spatial awareness and pick the pass well. Most important of all he is someone who give his all for the batch. Love this guy ❤ But having said that we should not stop looking for someone better. 😇

After five minutes you could see Brentford's tactics where they were going to sit deep. As soon as they cleared the ball to the middle third, the ball came back. Partey and the Arsenal midfield would collect the ball and play it back. I expected more from them and people say that they played badly, but I feel it was more to do with Arsenal putting pressure on them all over the pitch. Arsenal were on it the whole game and didn't let up. What a difference from Arsenal this season. Xhaka was immense.
I also think with a back 5 Brentford were determined to not let Arsenal get behind them in the half spaces in the box- which allowed Xhaka and Viera so much time and space outside the box to pick a pass or shoot. And the Brentford midfielders were woeful at closing down.
Everytime Arsenal win, apparently, it has nothing to do with how well they played and everything to do with the other team "not showing up". The bias against Arsenal is actually embarrassing. If City won 3-0, Liverpool won 3-0 "Oh quality showing from them again, they came, they played, they conquered and what a fantastic showing". With Arsenal, it's "Look, Brentford just weren't at it today and had it been another day and had Toney had his third leg on the pitch, they'd have gotten something".

Totally agree that Jesus has had an enormous impact on the squad, he's a bona fide winner, he knows how to win and he works extremely hard for every minute that he's on the pitch........ and this rubs off on the other lads. Zinchenko also has had the same impact, this is fantastic for everyone at the club, that includes us fans.

Partey is our shocker absorber!! When he is in the team he gives everyone in the team the comfort especially the bavk 4. Thats very key, otherwise when u score and then conced the goal again then the team is under pressure. I think you are referring to partey. Xhaka is nice too though, but partey is the heart beat of arsenal. Without partey,

Partey reminds me of the Gilberto days. That sponge that sits in front of the CB's and just soaks up and relieves pressure in that quiet, almost unnoticeable fashion. Love Jesus too, there's something about him I can't quite describe, but whatever 'it' is, that header was a prime example, the way he nonchalantly snipered that in with power, from behind him, was next level. And whatever 'it' is I never saw it from him at City, he always looked rightly just a squad player there. It's like we've helped rebirth him as a new man. Xhaka seems to be feeding off 'it' by osmosis, as are the other lads. I feel really, really (but still hesitantly) f'in positive about this year.
Arsenal were getting bullied by these lesser teams for years. I'm glad we've at least overcome such deficiencies. The next step is to get at least a point against both City and Liverpool.

At United after they equalised, I expect Arteta to make changes and bring on Tierney and Tomiyasu, two players who are fast in attacking and tracking back but he didn't until we conced the second and third.if he had brought them on then Saliba and Gabriel will stay back always, keep Jesus high up the pitch that will make sure their defenders and DM doesn't move forward often

There were 5 players out with Covid not 9, the others were backroom staff, although Ben White tested positive the following day. The game itself was even more controversial for me. Bernd Leno was clearly pinned to the floor for one of Brentford's goals but VAR didn't intervene and Folarin Balogun had his standing leg kicked from under him as he was about to smash the ball in from six yards and, once again, VAR didn't even look at it.
Shearer said that only 4 of these players started last season though but I agree most of them don't let Arsenal have any excuses.

The performance Arsenal gave, they would thrash some other teams, Brentford did well trying to cut Arsenal chances but facing constant Arsenal attack, they were to make a few mistakes which they did.
As a Gooner I believe Arsenal are good enough to give City and Liverpool a try for the title but as the crucial Xmas season nears, the cold weather will probably cause some key injuries and the team with a fitter and bigger squad will be favourites. Arsenal have a very good first XI. On their day they can give a game to anyone. Arteta has his squad now. Abit short on the right wing though. No goals there at all. And likes of Odergaard and other midfielders must score more. Jesus and Martinelli will always score. Arteta just address these two positions in January asap!

There are still some players who need to be moved on. Also, the loss at United for me was a shocker and we need to learn from that. Give Arteta the time and the money to buy the player's he wants and in two seasons I can really see us challenging for the title. I still feel our squad is lacking depth in quality, would like to see player's like Elneny, Cedric...replaced by player's of real quality, one's that can create competition.
