Yes he used 21 players. But the 11 players with the most minutes played over 7000 minutes between them, while the other 10 who played only got 1000. Gordon got 5 minutes in total.

Overrated squad, totally overrated, like all your other teams of the last 58 years. The PL is not the national team, yet people think that it automatically means that the English are good at football, when it's the non-English players that mostly carry the PL.
I love what Gareth’s done for England but even if he had won tonight, watching England was torture. With this quality of players it’s criminal.

Playing Kane in the starting lineup against Spain is criminal and you can’t get away with it Gareth.
Had to laugh when he admitted that Kane was struggling with an injury during the tournament.
It was plain to see for anyone who had watched one of the six previous games where we were effectively playing with 10 men while Kane was on the pitch.
Not bringing sancho or rashford, forcing Bellingham to play rw, no other pure wingers in the team. What a joke. If Spain had sancho or rashford they would defo be in the team

England have not won a trophy for 57 years. It's not the manager it is that we have the most foreign players of any league and that means we have no left footed left back or squad depth. The minister for sport needs to step in.

Southgate is an assistant coach at best. Picked players who weren’t fit and then played the same team in EVERY match. The form players were sat on the bench for when it didn’t work (every match) and rescued him in EVERY match until the final.
Yes I would rather see a lesser player on the pitch that is fully fit than a top player that is tired.

Why not make the subs a lot earlier than the 86 minute when you know your players are cramping up 20 minutes before?
It's not about subs, it's about player selection. In a final of a tournament after the most demanding sesson in football history, make fitness your utility in your strategy. Watkins is known for stamina, was fully fit, and scored the winner in the game prior. Starting him would have given England the best possibility of scoring a goal.

England have done this my whole life, they pick the favourites, they risk players who aren't fit and just hope for a miracle, they play defensive football when we have the players to be attacking, it's like there is a script that every England manager has to follow, and it's written by the circus because only a clown could understand it!
Kane should of put the team and country before himself and asked to be subbed after half hour but na wanted the glory despite the fact he was playing absolutely woefully. 1 touch in their whole box the whole game, wasn't pressing at all just jogging about like it's a friendly, no shots on target. Complete and utter narcissism and entitlement that's cost us once again. Southgate would be lucky to manage a sunday leauge side. His favouritism of players and negative style of play is atrocious.

The difference between England and Spain in this tournament was that Spain used tactics to win games. England relied purely on luck and individual brilliance from the get go and never once put in a convincing performance at this tournament.

Growing up we was lucky to get out of the group.
Won 1 game in the worst group, was losing in 90 minutes against slovenia, was losing against denmark until a late equaliser and winning on penalties. Last minute winner against Netherlands.
Scraped through by sheer luck, none of that is an achievement. Should have been knocked out by Slovenia in the round of 16 but you're forgetting an overhead kick by Jude Bellingham is the only reason they weren't.

The bar was set incredibly low though let's be honest. If you look at our record compared to the other countries with the best leagues ie Spain, Italy, Germany, it's nowhere near where it should be. All those England teams in years gone by underperformed hugely.
Spain showed how football should be played plain and simple. Better team won. If you don't have the ball the majority of the time, when you get it you give it right back and also don't look to go forward... how do you expect to score??? You have to score to win games.
When England equalized, the way they just sat back and defended made me think they had forgotten that spain had scored before them and that they weren't 1-0 up

Saka can be easily nullified because the left back always knows that Walker on the overlap is pointless as his delivery is so bad. Time to phase out the sprinter and give Trent his long overdue staring shirt at right back. Imagine being a defender and having to figure out if you’re going to let Saka cut in on his left foot or have Trent on the outside whipping one in the box. Nightmare scenario.

I have many criticisms of Southgate, but it's a clear fact that he's a great manager who lifted England out of a real low point up to the high standard that we ought to be performing at. Overall we did well this tournament, but could definitely have achieved more with the talent we have. If Southgate is sacked or resigns, I hope he stays as an assistant coach or something like that, as he's loved by the team and would have a great deal to offer still. But if he stays on as manager, I wouldn't be unhappy with that.
Really I think the English media and many England fans deserve a lot of blame for England's many decades of disappointment. The England fans in Germany seem to have been great overall, but the fact so many people think it's our God-given right to win finals and are baying for blood when we don't perhaps suggests we don't deserve Southgate and our excellent players.
This man has proven to be the most shameless Englishman in England by not quitting after the last World Cup. This time, he still tried to 'talk' for a position he didn't deserve. A lot of the negative he says is to down to the set up of the team, not getting fresh legs on sooner and not being prepared to change the set up given what was happening. Gareth Southgate has built the foundations of a squad that has all the tools to win a tournament. It's up to someone else now.

Painful to watch as an England fan. Wish I knew why Southgate didn't start with Cole Palmer?! Kane seemed a bit heavy legged and wasnt on top form. Before this final match, you said you believe in dreams. Well perhaps you and other people will now wake up.
If they had scored another 'lucky' goal or 'lucky' penalty they could have won (on pure luck) and then you wouldnt be talking about players having cramp ffs.

Dont celebrate mediocrity. Dont praise losers. England didnt get to the final due to being skillful or a well managed top team, it was just rare moments of opportunity. Same in the previous Euros, a certain captain kicked a penalty up and over (rugby style) ....what utter rubbish!

All Spain did, was play football, proper football, and show-up this England team for what they are.
I felt Kane was the downfall the 1st 60mins of the game......however i felt the decision to take off Mainoo left a big gap on the midfield coz tht 2nd goal for Spain showed there was a big gap between the midfield and the backline three touches Spain was in.😢
England was beyond lucky to beat Slovakia. They should have been out of this tournament 3 games ago.

Ive been an avid southgate supporter. Hes done some amazing things for england, but from the offset of this tournament, it was a shambles. I still dont know what the style of play or tactics were for any of the games.

I’m 45 and England have never won anything. England rugby and football teams both have no tenacity and mental toughness. You need that to win tournament. We don’t have that so we will never ever win anything in international football.

Absolutely dominated by Spain where the goalkeeper was man of the match and with better finishing could have lost 5-1, check.

I think ultimately it comes down to Spain playing in attacking mode and England playing in defence. Regardless of what Spanish player had the ball they were running towards Englands goal, whereas England kept going back to the keeper and building up play. Problem was when it went to the keeper he would long ball it and England would lose possession
