The fact that Chef James didn't cuss out the person that sent out the raw chicken for his pregnant wife is more restraint than I would have.
Presumably, that's a mistake that most people would notice. You cut into raw chicken and it looks raw. Whereas somewhat undercooked chicken can be tougher to identify.

I think most of the yelling is fake. He’s probably concerned that if he confronted them he’d be yelling and possibly aggressive for real.
Homeboy's lucky he wasn't made to swallow the raw chicken Omniman versus Homelander style. Some shit is inexcusable from a kitchen. Trying to do that to the sous chef's pregnant wife? Probably should've gotten him booted on the spot.

Gordon is probably the only man alive whose taken even more seriously after a voice crack.
My problem is I start laughing every time his voice cracks. So he would get mad at me, he would start yelling at me his voice would crack I would start laughing uncontrollably he probably would kick me out pretty quick. Lol. I don't know why but every time his voice cracks it just makes me laugh. I don't think I'd get very far in Hell's kitchen.

It was a good idea, yeah. It might look good to you, but having someone else to double-check can reduce the risk of getting the head chef or sous chef coming down on you. Although you'll start dragging if you can't get it corrected in a timely fashion, it beats the alternative, in my opinion.
i mean its normal to teach someone who is just starting cooking how to spot raw chicken but someone who is already working at at restaurant should know by glance, touch and even smell when a piece of chicken is still raw.

It’s not *that* strange so long as she washes them right after. It’s not like she licked them and then picked something else up with them.
Same thing for taste testing with spoons. Just gotta make sure your own food tastes good for the customer.
Of course, that’s how we do it at home, but not a 5 star restaurant.

I've been working in kitchens for the past 19 years learning to cook since I was four and I'm 34 now and I even know some of the s*** that they pulled will not fly. Granted I've made mistakes in the past and everyone else has but damn
I hope everyone eats there for free. I wouldn’t pay $5 for the food coming from these people.
What are these chefs responsible for? Purchasing and maintaining ingredients? Maintenance of equipments to make sure they are working? After seeing so many episodes, everything looks staged just to add drama to the show.

I think the thing I hate the most is the customers who get upset knowing they went to a restaurant that’s part of a cooking competition where people constantly fuck up and still get upset when food isn’t as fast as McDonalds

What I personally find exceptionally painful is the fact, that Jon (7:08) was one hell of a talented cook. He had to drag the entire blue team literally through every single service, he didn't even had a single major fuck up, was always supportive, on the spot, creative and quick without loosing any quality of execution.
He can follow directions, is capable of listening and actually has the ability to observe closely without missing many details, if you're about to enjoy the entire season you'll see what I mean.
really a shame he had to suffer so many loses just because you can't carry a team full of driftwood.

The catches I loved the most were Seth and his butchering of the filet(Season 4), Vinny trying to pass off an old risotto to Gordon's Family(Season 8), and Jermey passing off a sample plate(Season 11)
My personal favorite (not shown on this channel) was the final red-blue team service of season 9.

I actually don't think the latter was Jeremy's fault, at least through malice. It looked like Dan tried to pass it off like a sneaky bastard and got Jeremy to be the one to take it up. Of course, Jeremy was still dumb enough not to spot that it was from the sample plate, but yeah, he got played like a fiddle

@@stancobalt8095 I'll add a little bit to that. The Bentley's is now permenantly closed. It had an overall rating of 4.6 stars with 103 reviews. However, he seems to have taken up the "Kiss the chef" thai restaurant which remains open today. It has 4,7 star reviews(150 of them) and is cooking some great looking foods. Guess I have my next weekend destination all planned out.

If these well trained chefs are willing to kill you with their seafood, imagine what you get at a normal restaurant. 😳
To be fair, these chefs are working in a high stress situation with the opportunity of a life time on the line, overworked with minimal breaks, no friends or family, and being screamed at constantly. Of course the head chef in restaurants are going to also be yelling and such, and it is fast paced, but sleep deprivation and lack of loved ones to come home to after a tough day will wear down at people and lead to mistakes. Still, some of these are unforgivable, especially rancid food.
Also most of these people haven’t had culinary school training
I think someone said that they aren't allowed thermometers, I guess to train their ability to tell when something is cooked properly
2:37 licking of the tongs that she is using to load the plate. Minute later we find that the crab is off. I hope she had some cream to apply, after the bad crab tore its way though. Tasting while cooking is one thing, and licking the serving utensils is another.
My favourite moment of when Gordon caught a mistake is when someone, I don't remember who, had overcooked their wellington so to make it appear not overcooked they put some sauce or something on it to make it more red, so they then brought it to Gordon and he touched it once and automatically knew it was overcooked.

Quality control is very important. Restaurant I used to work at while it was small and only drive thru the owner only accepted the best, you could not serve anything less. That's what you want from a restaurant that's serving you food. You don't want to waste food but wasting food is better than serving bad food that will not get eaten anyway and/or could make someone sick. Just gotta learn to make it right consistently, a mistake here and there is only human but for professional chefs the mistakes should be minor and fixed right away as it shouldn't be a mistake that you make a lot. My boss wasn't Gordon Ramsay but he definitely had similar energy and wasn't afraid to yell at employees who didn't understand what they were doing wrong lol, while yelling isn't pleasant , having the passion and stress of importance of quality is admirable. While I didn't make mistakes often, working at that job definitely made me consistent and thorough and decreased chances of me making mistakes even more.
Mary was absolutely my favorite chef this season.
