Yeah he’s a real problem that’s something that needed to be addressed, he’s also very verbally abusive I mean listen to the way that he was talking to his sister the fact that he could even talk to a female like that is really sad especially since it’s not like she was doing anything first he is like really really angry over something and the dad should not allow him to talk to the sisters especially like that but anyone
I agree but I think the father lets him get away with all that because he is better looking than his brothers. He has him front of house with the girls while his other boys are slaving away in the kitchen. He lets him talk down to all of them and doesn't say a word to him, which is why you can tell he is so pompous.

@@PinkiTadinki oh yes, the vicious cycle of having to work in the restaurant for NO SALARY to be allowed to live for no rent. Not like there really is any option of moving out with NO SALARY
para mediccine EXACTLY. They are all past 18. They are now independent adults and should be able to make their own decisions in life. Its not good that their parents are forcing them to work
They are in America and 18+ and can walk. Here is why, and I am not comparing, but Muslim families are close - very close - some sacrifice to unimaginable extent. I happen to know just such an individual, who month in/month out puts it all $$ out, well past.
You take Any family, stick them in a room together 8+ hrs a day, and dont even pay them. I dont care how functional your family is, everyone would be at each others throat in this situation.
If the dad probably gave them salary for their time then they would have been more grateful. However, if the kids decided to look at this as their future and worked at it then they could have turned this place around and made boat loads of money.
The problem with this family was that the dad didn't give all his kids equal responsibilities. So they decided to kill time by fighting with each other.
@xxx yyy I get along great with my family but I can tell even this would be enough to get us fighting… either you’ve never had siblings or you’re living in a fantasy world cause there aint no way any family no matter how tight will work well while not being paid and being under a tremendous amount of stress
The ending of each episode reminds me of the littlest hobo when the dog would disappear down the street. The music would go good too with Gordon walking away after helping people.
this is actually really sad. they can't move out because they don't have any money, they don't have any money because they don't get paid, and they can't find another job because they're forced to work at the restaurant in order to not pay rent to live in the family home. what a vicious cycle created by selfish parents
It's because that's the way the father grew up, and would have been the culture of his time. You would never question that you wouldn't work in the family business, and it was probably never discussed before. Family is expected to make sacrifices for family. I wouldn't be too hard on the old fart. You see how the mother isn't around?
First off, all of you sound like your parents have never struggled to take care of you and you have never struggled, you can clearly tell that both parent and children don't have the financial capability to take care of themselves, the kids can move on and get another job if they wanted to but they feel like they would be abandoning their parents if they didn't help, so at the end of the day, its the parents and kids fault, the kids have to express their feeling to their parents and the parents need to let their kids be free
@@bluelotus7201 u can't blame the kids when they realize since little that they should take responsability for the family instead of the father, how u expect them to get so mature so suddenly and revolt when they're forced into the restaurant?
Even though they closed the restaurant a few years after the show, they must have made some of that debt back on selling that property because that transformation was beautiful. I hope all of those kids are following their dreams and their family is healthier.

I grew up around families like that and guys like that who owned restaurants… They don’t change, unfortunately. They come from generations of the same antiquated ideas of “parenting” and family structure and culture within.. it’s instilled in them from a young age and they live their whole lives like it. And their children suffer in that disfunction until their businesses shut down and their children either break away THEN, separating themselves completely from their families never to go back and are pretty much shunned, or they end up really bad off mentally, emotionally, and physically.. completely broken in various ways.
Cobra I agree. Those poor kids should be able to decide what they want to do with their lives. I've always told my kids that I dont care what they want to do with their lives, just be happy!
Heavens Crow I hate to say it, but that old fuck knew when he wanted to open a restaurant that he was responsible for the food quality, the presentation, payroll, and staffing for his facility. and the way they all argue in front of the customers is really unprofessional. this man can't manage his life and he's forcing his kids down with him. idc if I'd be his only hope at keeping the restaurant open. if i don't want to work there, I won't.
Kyndal Pogue I agree that the dad shouldn't keep his kids working in the restraunt if they don't want to. I mean I can understand if it was temporary, because the dad may have been going through some stuff with the restraunt, but the kids are still living with them.

@@xTwilightWolvesx Yeah, if he was as rude as people claimed he was, he would be mean to the waiters as well, but I've never actually seen him criticise someone who wasn't a chef/owner/manager doing things their "perfect" way, blameshifted away from their responsibilities, tried to mislead Gordon, or exposed their customers or staff to physical harm. Gordon may appear very comfortable with confrontation, but he also shows good judgment. Jamal actually starts every argument hes in
Yeah he’s a real problem that’s something that needed to be addressed, he’s also very verbally abusive I mean listen to the way that he was talking to his sister the fact that he could even talk to a female like that is really sad especially since it’s not like she was doing anything first he is like really really angry over something and the dad should not allow him to talk to the sisters especially like that but anyone
I agree but I think the father lets him get away with all that because he is better looking than his brothers. He has him front of house with the girls while his other boys are slaving away in the kitchen. He lets him talk down to all of them and doesn't say a word to him, which is why you can tell he is so pompous.

para mediccine EXACTLY.

So they decided to kill time by fighting with each other.

this is actually really sad. they can't move out because they don't have any money, they don't have any money because they don't get paid, and they can't find another job because they're forced to work at the restaurant in order to not pay rent to live in the family home. what a vicious cycle created by selfish parents
It's because that's the way the father grew up, and would have been the culture of his time.
You would never question that you wouldn't work in the family business, and it was probably never discussed before. Family is expected to make sacrifices for family.
I wouldn't be too hard on the old fart. You see how the mother isn't around?
well they could go get another job and move out they just dumb as fuck

I grew up around families like that and guys like that who owned restaurants…
They don’t change, unfortunately.
This family needs their own show !! someone plz make it happen
I know he loves his kids, but they have to fly when ready.
Is everyone forgetting the fact that he's having his kids work WITH OUT PAY? That's illegal, at last in America it is.

Quite simply, Gordon is a brilliant chef and a brilliant psychologist who always puts together a broken family.
The editors on this show is comedy gold I crack up in tears!!!
Gordon ist such a pure soul. Sure, he yells and he has a foul mouth, but damn if he doesn't genuinely care about these peoples' businesses and their struggle. He always tries so hard to reignite their passion
It’s bad that a lot of people just don’t understand that and rant about how he’s such a terrible person for raising his voice and being blunt. They hate Gordon for rocking the boat and not using soft language.
A lot of the people on his shows are people who clearly aren’t used to being challenged when they so clearly need a wake up call. Gordon provides that. It might not be comfortable, but most remedies don’t taste nice.
@@victorsjostedt4393 Exactly. Gordon only acts like this with stubborn/prideful people. He won’t knock you while you’re down. In fact, he’s been very sympathetic to more sensitive people on the show.
It's just that some people seem to have this thing that 1) if you yell you're automatically wrong and an asshole, and 2) people's short term feelings should be protected even if it sacrifices their current/future selves.
Idk, it's just a show. You can't tell if the person is caring or blunt in real life, when you see such behaviour in TV.
