    The problem with starfield planets is that they lack creativity compared to mess effect Andromeda .... In starfield 😢 they all look like somehow identical to places on earth !

    I feel the RNG program used for planets was atrocious. The remedy was a relatively simple set of values that could have been plugged in to make populating bodies sensible and seemingly realistic.
    The above program would operate beside another simple program to generate biological/chemical/geographical POI's, based on a completely different set of criteria, which I'll skip at this time.
    The frequency and distribution of HUMAN related POI's like Industrial, military, and colonial/civilian outposts should take into account:
    1. Distance (valued 1 closest to 12 furthest) from major populations on homeworlds, (ie New Atlantis, Akila, and Neon) and becomes less frequent the further away a system is from those population centers. This value is subtracted against the other accumulated scores that follow below.
    2. Human settlements, not including military or industry.
    The habitability of a planet, valued between 12 greatest to 1 lowest, giving high priority to planets with:
    a. breathable air (+6)
    b. habitable temperatures
    +++ Temperate (+3)
    ++ Relatively hotter or colder (+2)
    + Considered extreme hot or cold in Earth terms, such as Saharan desert hot or Siberian winter cold. (+1)
    c. water availability.
    +++ Fresh bodies of water. (+3)
    ++ Ground water (+2)
    + Water extracted from air (+1)
    Those with scores of 12, possible by having the most desirable of all 3 traits would have the highest likelihood of population, provided the distance value subtracted still gives a positive value after adjustment.
    3. Planets with Industry would solely be dependant on:
    -Resource type
    Exotic +3
    Limited +2
    Rare +1
    Common +0
    Multiple resources are added together with a maximum value of 15.
    The distance value is subtracted from the resource value (max of 10). Which means even the most distant locations would have industrial outposts provided they have enough potential. Saturation depends on their value above their distance from major systems.
    4. Lastly military. It's saturation is dependant on systems with industry or civilian presence. Distance value from 1 to 10 generally out-weighs the possible value systems can have based on civilian or industrial presence.
    A. Systems with civilian populated planets.
    +2 value /planet with habitability scores of +8 or higher.
    +1 value /planet with habitability scores of +5 or higher.
    B. Planets with industry that is valued +13 or higher, add a value of +1 per qualified planet.
    System value is determined by the addition of criteria A and B together, maximum value cannot exceed 8 and the total value is subtracted against the system distance from that particular military's home system.
    Viola!
    Easily defined values that can be plugged in to populate all the star systems and their planets in a believable way.
    That's how programming should be done for scifi games like Starfield.

    Outpost power is supplied wirelessly. There is no need to manually wire your extractors, turrets and fabricators.

      @@JayAshkevron that's crazy, you could just as easily delete other extractors for a full refund of the materials if that is your problem. Spending time to wire everything is beyond tedious.

    • @JayAshkevron
      @JayAshkevron 11 місяців тому +2

      @@scottkoch4423 sigh not permanently. To kick start the process. For example if you set up in Bessel 3b and run out of stuff to make power supplies. You can wire up whichever of the resources you need and wait an hour to get more then build more power supplies. You are purposefully trying to pretend there's no point to it rather than admit you can do this to make things easier.

      it has lots of content, but i can see why some people think it’s lacking etc. simply because of how spaced out the game is, feels less like fallout where you can walk and stumble upon a quest, that aspect of the game is different but also that just comes with the territory of space, i do wish they would have made some of the key planets maybe larger scale maps we could walk around with leveled areas, hoping for that in a dlc soon becuase there is no way someone colonized new atlantis and the area around it has minimal locations lol

    It's annoying how many gas giants the game has. I honestly don't even believe in the existence of gas giants in real life, so it's annoying they'd lazily make planets "you can't land on"
